In four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet(EGB)gravity,we consider the thermodynamic and phase transitions of(charged)AdS black holes.For the negative GB coefficientα<0.the system allows two physical critical points,corresponding to the reentrant phase transition.when the charge Q>2√-α.For arbitraryα>0,the system always leads to a van der Waals phase transition.We then study the quasinormal modes(QNMs)of massless scalar perturbations to probe the van der Waals-like phase transition between small and large black holes(SBH/LBH)for(charged)AdS black holes.We find that the signature of this SBH/LBH phase transition in the isobaric process can be detected since the slopes of the QNM frequencies change dramatically in small and large black holes near the critical point.The obtained results further support that QNMs can be a dynamic probe of ther-modynamic properties in black holes.  相似文献

We discuss the P-V criticality and phase transition in the extended phase space of Born-Infeld AdS(BIAdS) black hole surrounded by quintessence dark energy, where the cosmological constant Λ is identified with the thermodynamical pressure P. Comparing with Van der Waals(VdW)-like SBH/LBH phase transition of Born-Infeld AdS(BI-AdS) black hole, we find that the BI-AdS black hole surrounded by quintessence dark energy possesses lower critical temperature because of parameter a 0, even disappears since the parameter a taking enough large values leads to Tc ≤ 0. Moreover, the interesting thermodynamic phenomenon of reentrant phase transition(RPT) are also observed,and the quintessence dark energy plays a similar role in this RPT.  相似文献

This paper presents a new metric and studies slowly rotating Gauss-Bonnet black holes with a nonvanishing angular momentum in five dimensional anti-de Sitter spaces.Taking the angular momentum parameter a up to second order,the slowly rotating black hole solutions are obtained by working directly in the action.In addition,it also finds that this method is applicable in higher order Lovelock gravity.  相似文献

The gravitational effect of spontaneous symmetry breaking vacuum energy density is investigated by subtracting the flat space-time contribution from the energy in the curved space-time. We find that the remaining effective energy-momentum tensor is too small to cause the acceleration of the universe, although it satisfies the characteristics of dark energy. However, it could provide a promising explanation to the puzzle of why the gravitational effect produced by the huge symmetry breaking vacuum energy in the electroweak theory has not been observed, as it has a sufficiently small value (smaller than the observed cosmic energy density by a factor of 1032).  相似文献

We explore static spherically symmetric stars in Gauss-Bonnet gravity without a cosmological constant, and present an exact internal solution which attaches to the exterior vacuum solution outside stars. It turns out that the presence of the Gauss-Bonnet term with a positive coupling constant completely changes thermal and gravitational energies, and the upper bound of the red shift of spectral lines from the surface of stars. Unlike in general relativity, the upper bound of the red shift is dependent on the density of stars in our case. Moreover, we have proven that two theorems for judging the stability of equilibrium of stars in general relativity can hold in Gauss-Bonnet gravity.  相似文献

We study quasinormal modes(QNMs)of charged black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell-Weyl(EMW)gravity by adopting the test scalar field perturbation.We find that the imaginary part of QNM frequencies is consistently negative for different angular parameters l,indicating that these modes always decay and are therefore stable.We do not observe a linear relationship between the QNM frequencyωand parameter p for these black holes,as their charge Q causes a nonlinear effect.We evaluate the massive scalar field perturbation in charged black holes and find that random long lived modes(i.e.,quasiresonances)could exist in this spectrum.  相似文献

Neglecting the self-force and radiative effects, we follow the spirit of Wald's gedanken experiment and discuss whether a(2+1)-dimensional Martinez–Teitelboim–Zanelli(MTZ) black hole can turn into a naked singularity by capturing a charged and massive particle. We find that after capturing a charged and massive test particle, an extremal or near-extremal MTZ black hole could turn into naked singularity, leading to a possible violation of the cosmic censorship.There exist ranges of the test particles' energies ?E which allow the appearance of naked singularities from both extremal and near extremal MTZ black holes.  相似文献
