X‐ray microscopy is a commonly used method especially in material science application, where the large penetration depth of X‐rays is necessary for three‐dimensional structural studies of thick specimens with high‐Z elements. In this paper it is shown that full‐field X‐ray microscopy at 6.2 keV can be utilized for imaging of biological specimens with high resolution. A full‐field Zernike phase‐contrast microscope based on diffractive optics is used to study lipid droplet formation in hepatoma cells. It is shown that the contrast of the images is comparable with that of electron microscopy, and even better contrast at tender X‐ray energies between 2.5 keV and 4 keV is expected.  相似文献

We show, using rigorous diffraction theory, that resonance gratings can be used to transfer partial spatial correlation to partial polarization even if the incident light beam is fully polarized. The phenomenon is based on the fact that either of the two orthogonal polarization components can be coupled into the leaky waveguide mode, leading to a strong phase delay, while the other one is reflected without being coupled into the grating. Numerical demonstrations are based on a Gaussian Schell-model beam and a grating analysis performed by rigorous Fourier modal method.  相似文献

This study suggests a systemic view on concept learning, in which concepts are seen as complex, dynamically evolving structures with robust and persistent patterns emerging from loosely connected elemental pieces. The model is represented in the form of a directed graph, and it explains many empirically identified features of learning paths, including: (1) the stability of learned concepts, (2) changes in concept attributions (ontological shift) as guided by theoretical knowledge, and (3) the evolution of concepts as driven by model competition with the accumulation of evidence. We demonstrate a compact middle-wave IR (MWIR) Fabry-Perot (FP) interferometer by replacing the traditional distributed Bragg reflectors consisting of thick multilayer films with two identical metallic subwavelength gratings. The transmission efficiency, resonance peak position, and finesse of the FP interferometer can be controlled by tuning the structural parameters. The performance of the MWIR FP interferometer is verified by experiment, which shows its potential application as, for example, narrowband MWIR filter for gas detection.  相似文献

The surface tension of adipic aqueous solutions was measured as a function of temperature (T=278-313 K) and adipic acid mole fraction (X=0.000-0.003) using the Wilhelmy plate method. A parametrization fitted to these data is presented. The evaporation rates of binary water-malonic and water-adipic acid droplets were measured with a TDMA technique at different temperatures (T=293-300 K) and relative humidities (58-80%), and the saturation vapor pressures of subcooled liquid malonic and adipic acids were derived from the data using a binary evaporation model. The temperature dependence of the vapor pressures was obtained as least-squares fits to the derived vapor pressures: ln(Psat,l) (Pa)=220.2389-22634.96/T (K)-26.66767 ln T (K) for malonic acid and ln(Psat,l) (Pa)=140.6704-18230.97/T (K)-15.48011 ln T (K) for adipic acid.  相似文献

The polarizability of gyrotropic spheres is studied in this short article. Gyrotropic media are anisotropic in two respects: the symmetric part of the permittivity dyadic is uniaxial, and furthermore, there is also antisymmetric part in the permittivity. The polarizability is also dyadic with its components depending on the relations of the permittivity components of the material.  相似文献

Uniaxial bianisotropic medium is a generalization of the well-studied bi-isotropic and chiral media. It is obtained, for example, when microscopic helices with parallel axes are positioned in a host dielectric in random locations. Plane wave propagation in such a medium is studied and a simple solution for the dispersion equation and for the eigenwaves are found. As a numerical example, polarization properties of a transverse wave propagating in a uniaxial bianisotropic medium is considered. The results give a simple possibility to construct a polarization transformer with a transversely uniaxial chiral medium for changing the polarization of a propagating plane wave.  相似文献

The process of learning scientific knowledge from the dynamic systems viewpoint is studied in terms probabilistic learning model (PLM), where learning accrues from foraging in the epistemic landscape. The PLM leads to the formation of attractor‐type regions of preferred models in an epistemic landscape. The attractor‐type states correspond to robust learning outcomes which are more probable than others. These can be assigned either to the high confidence in model selection or to the dynamic evolution of a learner's proficiency, which depends on the learning history. The results suggest that robust learning states are essentially context dependent, and that learning is a continuous development between these context dependent states. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
