The x-ray diffraction intensities of Bragg reflections have been measured at room temperature for thulium selenide, samarium sulphide, samarium selenide and samarium telluride. On the basis of a common amplitude approximation, the Debye-Waller factor, the mean amplitude of vibration and the Debye temperature have been evaluated. The values of the Debye temperatures and mean amplitudes of vibration are 176±16°K, 0·185 ± 0·017 Å (TmSe), 155 ± 7°K, 0·244 ± 0·012 Å (SmS), 153 ± 14°K, 0·221 ± 0·020 Å (SmSe) and 151 ± 20°K, 0·204 ± 0·027 Å (SmTe). 相似文献

We focus on Bayesian variable selection in regression models. One challenge is to search the huge model space adequately, while identifying high posterior probability regions. In the past decades, the main focus has been on the use of Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms for these purposes. In this article, we propose a new computational approach based on sequential Monte Carlo (SMC), which we refer to as particle stochastic search (PSS). We illustrate PSS through applications to linear regression and probit models. 相似文献

In this article, we propose generalized Bayesian dynamic factor models for jointly modeling mixed-measurement time series. The framework allows mixed-scale measurements associated with each time series, with different measurements having different distributions in the exponential family conditionally on time-varying latent factor(s). Efficient Bayesian computational algorithms are developed for posterior inference on both the latent factors and model parameters, based on a Metropolis–Hastings algorithm with adaptive proposals. The algorithm relies on a Greedy Density Kernel Approximation and parameter expansion with latent factor normalization. We tested the framework and algorithms in simulated studies and applied them to the analysis of intertwined credit and recovery risk for Moody’s rated firms from 1982 to 2008, illustrating the importance of jointly modeling mixed-measurement time series. The article has supplementary materials available online. 相似文献

It is increasingly common to be faced with longitudinal or multi-level data sets that have large numbers of predictors and/or a large sample size. Current methods of fitting and inference for mixed effects models tend to perform poorly in such settings. When there are many variables, it is appealing to allow uncertainty in subset selection and to obtain a sparse characterization of the data. Bayesian methods are available to address these goals using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), but MCMC is very computationally expensive and can be infeasible in large p and/or large n problems. As a fast approximate Bayes solution, we recommend a novel approximation to the posterior relying on variational methods. Variational methods are used to approximate the posterior of the parameters in a decomposition of the variance components, with priors chosen to obtain a sparse solution that allows selection of random effects. The method is evaluated through a simulation study, and applied to an epidemiological application. 相似文献

High molecular weight, soluble, amorphous, partially aliphatic polyimides were successfully synthesized using an ester acid high‐temperature solution imidization route, which allows one to control desired glass‐transition (Tg) and processing temperatures. This method involves the prereaction of aromatic dianhydrides with ethanol and a tertiary amine catalyst to form ester acids, followed by the addition of diamines. Subsequent thermal reaction forms fully cyclized polyimides. This reaction pathway eliminates the need for anhydrous solvents and overcomes the problem of salt formation commonly observed for nucleophilic, more‐basic aliphatic amines when utilizing the traditional polyamic acid synthesis route. The molar ratio of aromatic‐to‐aliphatic diamines was varied to generate a series of copolyimides with the chosen dianhydride and tailor the physical properties for specific adhesive applications. This series of copolyimides was characterized by their molecular weight, Tg, thermal stability, coefficient of thermal expansion, refractive index, and dielectric constant. Structure‐property relationships were established. The γ and β sub‐Tg viscoelastic properties were researched to understand their molecular origins. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The sensitivity of all ion trap mass spectrometry (ITMS) methods is dependent on the trapping efficiency of the instrument. For ITMS instruments utilizing external ion sources, such as laser desorption, trapping efficiency is known to depend on the phase and amplitude of the radio frequency (RF) potential applied to the ring electrode at the time of ion introduction. It is remarkable that, in a considerable body of literature, no consensus exists regarding the effects of these parameters on the efficacy of trapping externally generated ions. In this paper, a summary of the literature is presented in order to highlight significant discrepancies. New laser desorption ion trap mass spectrometry (LD-ITMS) data are also presented, from which conclusions are drawn in our effort to clarify some of the confusion. A rigorous investigation of the identification of a heterogeneousflexural rigidity coefficient in the Euler-Bernoulli steady-statebeam theory in the presence of a prescribed load is presented.Mathematically, this study is an extension to higher-order differentialequations of the coefficient identification problem analysedby Marcellini (1982) for the one-dimensional Poisson equation. In addition, various types of boundary conditions are discussed.Conditions for the well-posedness of these inverse problemsare established and, furthermore, numerical results obtainedusing a regularization algorithm are presented. 相似文献

As a generalization of the Dirichlet process (DP) to allow predictor dependence, we propose a local Dirichlet process (lDP).
The lDP provides a prior distribution for a collection of random probability measures indexed by predictors. This is accomplished
by assigning stick-breaking weights and atoms to random locations in a predictor space. The probability measure at a given
predictor value is then formulated using the weights and atoms located in a neighborhood about that predictor value. This
construction results in a marginal DP prior for the random measure at any specific predictor value. Dependence is induced
through local sharing of random components. Theoretical properties are considered and a blocked Gibbs sampler is proposed
for posterior computation in lDP mixture models. The methods are illustrated using simulated examples and an epidemiologic
application. 相似文献
