Designing natural gas pipelines to safely and efficiently handle unsteady flows, requires knowledge of pressure drop, flowrate and temperature distribution throughout the system. The accurate prediction of these parameters is essential in order to achieve optimum cumulative deliverability, and safe and reliable operation. An Adaptive Method of Lines algorithm is formulated for the solution of Euler system of equations, which fully simulates slow and fast transients. Two test cases present the improvement of the numerical solution from grid adaptation. Good results are obtained both for slow and fast transients simulations proving that the suggested numerical procedure is appropriate for such predictions. To cite this article: E. Tentis et al., C. The sonochemical degradation of 5 μg l−1 triclosan, a priority micro-pollutant, in various environmental samples (seawater, urban runoff and influent domestic wastewater) as well as in model solutions (pure and saline water) was investigated. Experiments were conducted with a horn-type sonicator operating at 80 kHz frequency and a nominal applied power of 135 W, while solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography–electron capture detector (SPME/GC–ECD) was employed to monitor triclosan degradation. The latter followed pseudo-first order kinetics with the rate constant being (min−1): 0.2284 for seawater > 0.1051 for 3.5% NaCl in deionised water > 0.0597 for centrifuged urban runoff  0.0523 for untreated urban runoff > 0.0272 for deionised water > 0.0063 for wastewater influent. SPME/GC–ECD and SPME coupled with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (SPME/GC–MS) were also used to check for the formation of chlorinated and other toxic by-products; at the conditions in question, the presence of such compounds was not confirmed.  相似文献

This paper presents an MLP‐type neural network with some fixed connections and a backpropagation‐type training algorithm that identifies the full set of solutions of a complete system of nonlinear algebraic equations with n equations and n unknowns. The proposed structure is based on a backpropagation‐type algorithm with bias units in output neurons layer. Its novelty and innovation with respect to similar structures is the use of the hyperbolic tangent output function associated with an interesting feature, the use of adaptive learning rate for the neurons of the second hidden layer, a feature that adds a high degree of flexibility and parameter tuning during the network training stage. The paper presents the theoretical aspects for this approach as well as a set of experimental results that justify the necessity of such an architecture and evaluate its performance. We apply the Ising model with nearest-neighbor correlations (INNC) in the problem of interpolation of spatially correlated data on regular grids. The correlations are captured by short-range interactions between “Ising spins”. The INNC algorithm can be used with label data (classification) as well as discrete and continuous real-valued data (regression). In the regression problem, INNC approximates continuous variables by means of a user-specified number of classes. INNC predicts the class identity at unmeasured points by using the Monte Carlo simulation conditioned on the observed data (partial sample). The algorithm locally respects the sample values and globally aims to minimize the deviation between an energy measure of the partial sample and that of the entire grid. INNC is non-parametric and, thus, is suitable for non-Gaussian data. The method is found to be very competitive with respect to interpolation accuracy and computational efficiency compared to some standard methods. Thus, this method provides a useful tool for filling gaps in gridded data such as satellite images.  相似文献

The title compound, C33H50N2O2, is a side product in the reaction of all-trans-retinoic acid (atRA) with N-hydroxysuccinimide, in the presence of the coupling agent N,N′-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, which produces the ‘active’ ester succinimidyl all-trans-retinoate as the product. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pbca space group. The compound was characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, ESI–MS and IR spectroscopy and its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. For example in the 13C-NMR spectrum, diagnostic peaks are those of the two amide carbonyl C atoms at δ 169.5 and 154.2 ppm, the ten olefinic C atoms of the unsaturated chain of atRA moiety at δ 149.0, 139.3, 137.7, 137.3, 134.9, 130.2, 130.0, 129.4, 128.5 and 121.5 ppm and the two methine C atoms of the N,N′-dicyclohexylurea moiety at δ 57.9 and 49.5 ppm. Detailed analysis of its molecular and supramolecular structure showed that close-packing principles (elongated shape/large hydrophobic region of the molecule) together with chemical factors (N–H?O and C–H?O intermolecular interactions) direct the 3D self-assembly process in the crystalline state. Hirshfeld surface analysis was employed, a powerful approach to quickly and easily gain insight into molecular environments in the crystalline state.

The Weibull distribution is often used to model the earthquake interevent times distribution (ITD). We propose a link between the earthquake ITD on single faults with the Earth’s crustal shear strength distribution by means of a phenomenological stick–slip model. For single faults or fault systems with homogeneous strength statistics and power-law stress accumulation we obtain the Weibull ITD. We prove that the moduli of the interevent times and crustal shear strength are linearly related, while the time scale is an algebraic function of the scale of crustal shear strength. We also show that logarithmic stress accumulation leads to the log-Weibull ITD. We investigate deviations of the ITD tails from the Weibull model due to sampling bias, magnitude cutoff thresholds, and non-homogeneous strength parameters. Assuming the Gutenberg–Richter law and independence of the Weibull modulus on the magnitude threshold, we deduce that the interevent time scale drops exponentially with the magnitude threshold. We demonstrate that a microearthquake sequence from the island of Crete and a seismic sequence from Southern California conform reasonably well to the Weibull model.  相似文献

(E)-4-(Fullerenopyrrolidin-1-yl)-3-methylbut-2-enoic acid and its corresponding succinimidyl ester, readily obtained through Prato-type modification of C60, were used for the selective N-acylation of polyamines. The thus obtained conjugates were evaluated for their antioxidative and anti-inflammatory activity and their cytotoxicity was determined. Members of this family of compounds showed interesting anti-lipid peroxidation, anti-lipoxygenase and anti-inflammatory activity and comparable cytocompatibility to spermidine.  相似文献

The objective of this research is the presentation of a feed‐forward neural network capable of estimating the 2‐cycle fixed points of Henon map by solving their defining nonlinear algebraic system. The network uses the back propagation algorithm and solves the aforementioned system for a set of values of the parameters α and β of Henon map. Besides the estimation of the fixed points, the paper includes the study of the network convergence and its speed for many different initial conditions.
