Polarization properties of thick anisotropic diffraction holograms recorded with infrared-polymerizable media

The polarization properties of thick anisotropic holographic gratings are studied theoretically and experimentally. The dependences of the diffraction efficiency, ellipticity, and polarization orientation of the diffraction beam on the azimuth angle of polarization of an incident Bragg beam are derived. The experimental data are shown to agree well with the analytical calculations. It is found that the diffraction characteristics can be controlled in a wide range of incident polarization.

The differences in the luminescence intensity of metal oxide nanoparticles synthesized in electric discharges in liquidmedia under intense ultrasonic vibrations in the absence and presence of cavitation are studied.     

Mixed phase and absorption thin gratings diffraction

The coupled wave theory of Raman and Nath diffraction is extended to the case of thin anisotropic holographic media with grating vector parallel to the medium boundaries. Solutions for the wave amplitudes, diffraction efficiencies, and angular mismatch sensitivities are given in transmission geometries for the case of mixed dielectric and absorption modulations. For an apparent distinction, the results are given only for dielectric modulation. The main difference of the new results, with respect to the expressions valid for isotropic media, arises due to the walk-off between the wave-front and energy propagation directions. The difference is particularly important in materials with large birefringence, such as organic crystals, ordered polymers, and liquid crystalline cells.     

Estimation of Rate Constants of Thermal Dissociation of Two-Atomic Compounds and Three-Particle Association in the Temperatures Range from 500 to 5000 K

Based on an analysis of the approximation dependences on the dissociation energy for rate constants of thermal dissociation of two-atomic compounds and three-particle association, constructed by the least-squares method, an analytical expression for their estimation is derived. It is shown that the calculated and approximation dependences of the published data almost coincide with each other. The maximum disagreement of the dependences does not exceed 2% for the temperature range from 500 to 5000 K.
