Nanocrystalline tantalum nitride (TaN) thin films have been deposited by reactive direct current magnetron sputtering technique on Si/SiO2 (100) substrate with nitrogen flow rate ranging from 0, 3, 5, 7, 9 to 11 standard cubic centimeter per minute (sccm). Structural properties, surface morphology, chemical composition and and resistivity of the TaN films were investigated by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and four‐point probe measurements, respectively. In the XRD spectra, a classical formation sequence of tantalum nitride phases in the order of Ta‐Ta2N‐TaN‐Ta4N5 and decreasing amount of metallic Ta were observed with increasing nitrogen flow. The electrical resistivity of the TaN film was found to increase with increasing N/Ta ratio as a result of the increased electron scattering from interstitial N atoms. In the XPS analysis, two groups of Ta4f doublets relating to different TaN phases were observed in the core level spectra of TaN films. No strong coupling was observed between the Ta4f doublets and the Ta4p and the N1s groups. The appropriate nitrogen flow was believed to be helpful in the bonding and formation of stoichiometric TaN. Polyaniline–Nd2O3:Al2O3 nanocomposites were prepared by in situ oxidative polymerization method using different weight percentages of oxide powders. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction for molecular and crystal structures. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy images show the tubular structure of polyaniline nanocomposite with embedded metal oxides. The electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites increases with increase in temperature as well as with concentration of Nd2O3:Al2O3 particles in polyaniline. This is because of the hopping of charge polarons and extended chain length of the nanocomposites as evidenced by the negative thermal coefficient (NTC) characteristic. A high NTC value of 2.67 was found in nanocomposites with 15 wt% of oxide particles. These nanocomposites show low dielectric constant and dielectric loss; the electrical conductivity is higher than 0.3 S/cm as confirmed by Cole–Cole plot that indicates a decrease in both grain resistance and bulk resistance of the nanocomposites. The current–voltage and capacitance–voltage measurements were also carried out. The carrier mobility μ values of pure polyaniline and nanocomposites were found to be 4.27 × 10?3 and 1.45 × 10–2 H.M?1, respectively. A significant enhancement in carrier mobility was observed in comparison with the literature. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Industrial wastewaters containing heavy metals pose a major environmental problem that needs to be remedied. The present study reports the ability of two non-living (dried) fresh water algae, Oedogonium sp. and Nostoc sp. to remove lead(II) from aqueous solutions in batch system under varying range of pH (2.99-7.04), contact time (5-300 min), biosorbent dose (0.1-0.8 g/L), and initial metal ion concentrations (100 and 200mg/L). The optimum conditions for lead biosorption are almost same for the two algal biomass Oedogonium sp. and Nostoc sp. (pH 5.0, contact time 90 and 70 min, biosorbent dose 0.5 g/L and initial Pb(II) concentration 200mg/L) however, the biomass of Oedogonium sp. was found to be more suitable than Nostoc sp. for the development of an efficient biosorbent for the removal of lead(II) from aqueous solutions, as it showed higher values of q(e) adsorption capacity (145.0mg/g for Oedogonium sp. and 93.5mg/g for Nostoc sp.). The equilibrium data fitted well in the Langmuir isotherms than the Freundlich isotherm, thus proving monolayer adsorption of lead on both the algal biomass. Analysis of data shows that the process involves second-order kinetics and thermodynamic treatment of equilibrium data shows endothermic nature of the adsorption process. The spectrum of FTIR confirms that the amino and carboxyl groups on the surface of algal biomass were the main adsorption sites for lead removal. Both the biosorbents could be regenerated using 0.1 mol/L HCl solution, with upto 90% recovery. The biosorbents were reused in five biosorption-desorption cycles without a significant loss in biosorption capacity. Thus, this study demonstrated that both the algal biomass could be used as an efficient biosorbents for the treatment of lead(II) bearing wastewater streams.  相似文献

A novel tetradentate salicylic acid-formaldehyde ligand containing piperazine moiety (SFP) was synthesized by condensation of salicylic acid, formaldehyde and piperazine in presence of base catalyst, which was subjected for the preparation of coordination polymers with metal ions like manganese(II), cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II). All the synthesized polymeric compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, (1)H NMR and electronic spectral studies. The thermal stability was determined by thermogravimetric analysis and thermal data revealed that all the polymer metal complexes show good thermal stability than their parent ligand. Electronic spectral data and magnetic moment values revealed that polymer metal complexes of Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) show an octahedral geometry while Cu(II) and Zn(II) show distorted octahedral and tetrahedral geometry respectively. The antimicrobial screening of the ligand and coordination polymers was done by using Agar well diffusion method against various bacteria and fungi. It was evident from the data that antibacterial and antifungal activity increased on chelation and all the polymer metal complexes show excellent antimicrobial activity than their parent ligand.  相似文献

Excessive exposure of solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation, particularly its UV-B component, to humans causes many adverse effects that include erythema, hyperplasia, hyperpigmentation, immunosuppression, photoaging and skin cancer. In recent years, there is increasing use of botanical agents in skin care products. Pomegranate derived from the tree Punica granatum contains anthocyanins (such as delphinidin, cyanidin and pelargonidin) and hydrolyzable tannins (such as punicalin, pedunculagin, punicalagin, gallagic and ellagic acid esters of glucose) and possesses strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Recently, we have shown that pomegranate fruit extract (PFE) possesses antitumor promoting effects in a mouse model of chemical carcinogenesis. To begin to establish the effect of PFE for humans in this study, we determined its effect on UV-B-induced adverse effects in normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEK). We first assessed the effect of PFE on UV-B-mediated phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) pathway in NHEK. Immunoblot analysis demonstrated that the treatment of NHEK with PFE (10-40 microg/mL) for 24 h before UV-B (40 mJ/cm(2)) exposure dose dependently inhibited UV-B-mediated phosphorylation of ERKl/2, JNK1/2 and p38 protein. We also observed that PFE (20 microg/mL) inhibited UV-B-mediated phosphorylation of MAPK in a time-dependent manner. Furthermore, in dose- and time-dependent studies, we evaluated the effect of PFE on UV-B-mediated activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappaB) pathway. Using Western blot analysis, we found that PFE treatment of NHEK resulted in a dose- and time-dependent inhibition of UV-B-mediated degradation and phosphorylation of IkappaBalpha and activation of IKKalpha. Using immunoblot analysis, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and electrophoretic mobility shift assay, we found that PFE treatment to NHEK resulted in a dose- and time-dependent inhibition of UV-B-mediated nuclear translocation and phosphorylation of NF-kappaB/p65 at Ser(536). Taken together, our data shows that PFE protects against the adverse effects of UV-B radiation by inhibiting UV-B-induced modulations of NF-kappaB and MAPK pathways and provides a molecular basis for the photochemopreventive effects of PFE.  相似文献

The Nernst?CPlanck equations with some additional assumptions was used in this study to investigate the forward kinetics and ion-exchange mechanism of heavy metal ions viz. Ni2+?CH+, Cu2+?CH+, Mn2+?CH+ and Zn2+?CH+ on the surface of carboxymethyl cellulose Sn(IV) phosphate composite nano-rod-like cation-exchanger. It was observed that heavy metals' exchange processes were imparted by the particle diffusion-controlled phenomenon. Some physical parameters i.e., fractional attainment of equilibrium U(??), self-diffusion coefficients (D o), energy of activation (E a), and entropy of activation (??S*) were estimated. These investigations revealed that the equilibrium is attained faster at higher temperature probably because of availability of thermally enlarged matrix of carboxymethyl cellulose Sn(IV) phosphate composite nano-rod-like cation-exchange material. The physical parameters observed for this composite cation exchanger were also compared with other composite ion exchangers. The results showed that the ion-exchange phenomenon is more feasible on the surface of this composite cation exchanger as compared with the other ion exchangers which indicated the usefulness of this composite ion exchanger in various applications.  相似文献

Lab-on-a-chip (LOC) technologies can take advantage of sheath flows for particle/cell focusing before sensing or sorting. The integration of focusing with other microscale manipulation techniques (e.g., sorting) creates a trade-off between the throughput of the device and its performance. Therefore, exploring the effective parameters for cells/particles focusing enables us to improve the desired output of LOC devices. A common configuration for sheath-assisted focusing is Y junctions, which are parametrically studied in this paper. First, a computational model was developed and validated by comparing it with our experimental results. Using COMSOL Multiphysics modeling, the effects of multiple parameters were studied. These parameters include the sheath flow ratio (sheath flow over total flow), width ratio (width of the sheath inlet over the total width), junction angles, and particle size on the focusing width and the distribution of the particles within the focusing region. Then, the numerical data were used to develop two generalized linear models to predict the focusing width of the particles and the standard deviation of the position of the particles. The results showed that the focusing width is greatly impacted by the sheath flow rate ratio. Further, the standard deviation of the position of the particles, which represents the concentration of the particles, is mostly dependent on the flow rate ratio, width ratio, and particle size. Our results provide a better understanding of how the device geometrical and operational factors affect the position of the particles in the development of high-performance on-chip sensing and sorting of both cells and particles.  相似文献

Herein, we report an efficient and facile synthesis of substituted 2-aminopyrroles from the reaction of enaminone-amidine adduct and various phenacyl, benzyl, or heteroalkyl halides in the presence of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) in good to excellent yields. The reaction proceeds through an intramolecular 5-exo trig cyclization resulting into diversely substituted 2-aminopyrroles.  相似文献

Novel polymer metal complexes were prepared by the condensation polymerization of a polymeric ligand with transition metal ions of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). The polymeric ligand was prepared by the addition polymerization of urea with toluene 2,4‐diisocyanate in 1:1 molar ratio. The polymeric ligand and its polymer metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 13C‐NMR, and1H‐NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance). The geometry was determined by electronic spectra and magnetic moment measurement. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was utilized to find out the degradation process of the polyurea ligand and the polymer metal complexes. The TGA data revealed that all the metal‐containing polyureas are much more thermally stable than the corresponding polyurea ligand. The surface morphology of the polyurea ligand and cobalt(II)‐containing polyureas was determined by scanning electron micrographs. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of all the synthesized polymers were investigated against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus subtilis (bacteria) and Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus flavus (fungi). These compounds show remarkably good biocidal activities, which were enhanced after complexation with the metal. Batch adsorption studies of the ligand were carried out for malachite green dye, and the polyurea ligand was found to be a good adsorbent for this dye.
