Herein, we report the synthesis of new covalent organic polymer comprising triazine and o-tolidine by solvothermal method. The formation of polymer was confirmed by Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy (FT-IR), cross polarization–magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Their antibacterial activity toward S. aureus (gram-positive) and P. aeruginosa (gram-negative) was assessed by the optical density measurements and direct contact method. These results have great significance toward the design of new porous polymers for antibacterial applications.  相似文献

A series of poly(benzylidene‐ether)esters containing a photoreactive benzylidene chromophore in the main chain were synthesized from 2,6‐bis(4‐hydroxy‐3‐methoxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone (BHMBCH) with various aliphatic and aromatic diacid chlorides by an interfacial polycondensation technique. The intrinsic viscosity of the synthesized homo and copolymers determined by Ubbelohde viscometer was found to be 0.12 to 0.17 dL/g. The molecular structure of the monomer and polymers was confirmed by FT‐IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectral analyses. These polymers were studied for their thermal stability and photochemical properties. Thermal properties were evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It was found that the polymers were stable up to 280 °C and start degrading thereafter. Increase in acid methylene spacer length decreased the thermal stability. The self‐extinguishing property of the synthesized polymers was studied by calculating the limiting oxygen index (LOI) value using a Van Krevelen's equation. The influence of the length of methylene spacer on phase transition was investigated using DSC and odd‐even effect has been observed. Hot‐stage optical polarizing microscopic (HOPM) study showed that most of the polymers exhibited birefringence and opalescence properties. The photolysis of liquid crystalline poly(benzylidene‐ether)esters revealed that α,β‐unsaturated ketone moiety in the main chain dimerises through 2π + 2π cycloaddition reaction to form a cyclobutane derivative and leads to crosslinking. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermotropic main chain liquid‐crystalline poly (benzylidene‐ether)s were synthesized by Claisen‐Schmidt polycondensation reaction of 4,4′‐diformyl‐2,2′‐dimethoxy‐α,ω‐diphenoxyalkanes with acetone, cyclopentanone, and cyclohexanone. The diformyl precursors were synthesized from 4‐hydroxy‐3‐methoxybenzaldehyde with dibromoalkanes of varying spacer lengths. The structure of monomers and polymers was confirmed by elemental analyses, Fourier‐transform infrared, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectral analyses. The thermal properties were studied by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) data revealed that the polymers were stable up to 285 °C and start degrading thereafter. Cyclopentanone‐containing polymers are more stable than cyclohexanone‐ and acetone‐containing polymers. The self‐extinguishing property of the synthesized polymers was studied by calculating the limiting oxygen index values using Van Krevelen's equation. The influence of the length of methylene spacer on phase transition was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and it was proved that the isotropic temperature decreases with an increase in the length of the spacer. Polarized optical microscopic study showed that cyclohexanone‐containing polymers exhibit nematic threadlike and nematic droplet texture. The photolysis of liquid‐crystal poly(benzylidene‐ether)s revealed that the Entgegen, Zusammen (EZ) photoisomerization proceeds in the system. The band gap energy was calculated from absorption spectra and is in the range of 3.05–3.37 eV and proved that the length of spacers has a significant influence on their absorption and emission. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract

Phosphate-based bioactive glasses and their glass ceramics for 47P2O5– (30.5)CaO–(22.5 ? x)Na2O–xZrO2 for different ZrO2 contents (x = 0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, and 6.0 mol%) were prepared through melt quenching and controlled heat treatment procedures. The amorphous nature of glasses and the presence of crystalline phases in glass ceramics were studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. The density, molar volume, ultrasonic velocities, attenuation, elastic constants, and microhardness of glass and glass ceramics were used to study the structural changes. The formation of hydroxyapatite layer on the surface of glasses and glass ceramics after immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) was explored through XRD, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses. The results indicate that the added ZrO2 increases the crosslink density of glasses, resulting in network stability, and also induces the formation of an apatite layer on the surface of glasses.

This article describes the recent results obtained in our laboratory on the interaction of polyfunctional ligands with divalent alkaline earth metal ions and a few divalent transition metal ions. Treatment of MC12·nH2O (M = Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba) with 2-amino benzoic acid leads to the formation of complexes [Mg(2-aba)2] (1), [Ca(2-aba)2(OH2)3]∞ (2), [Sr(2-aba)2(OH2)2 2·H2O)]∞ (3), [Ba(2-aba)2(OH2)]∞ (4), respectively. While the calcium ions in2 are hepta-coordinated, the strontium and barium ions in3 and4 reveal a coordination number of nine apart from additional metal-metal interactions. Apart from the carboxylate functionality, the amino group also binds to the metal centres in the case of strontium and barium complexes3 and4. Complexes [Mg(H2O)6(4-aba)2·2H2O] (5), [Ca(4-aba)2(H2O)2] (6) prepared from 4-aminobenzoic acid reveal more open or layered structures. Interaction of 2-mercaptobenzoic acid with MCl2·6H2O (M = Mg, Ca), however, leads to the oxidation of the thiol group resulting in the disulphide 2,2′ -dithiobis(benzoic acid). New metal-organic framework based hydrogen-bonded porous solids [M(btec) (OH2)4 n·n(C4H12N2)·4nH2O] (btec = 1,2,4,5-benzene tetracarboxylate) (M = Co9; Ni10; Zn11) have been synthesized from 1,2,4,5-benzene tetracarboxylic acid in the presence of piperazine. These compounds are made up of extensively hydrogen-bonded alternating layers of anionic M-btec co-ordination polymer and piperazinium cations. Compounds2- 11 described herein form polymeric networks in the solid-state with the aid of different coordinating capabilities of the carboxylate anions hydrogen bonding interactions.  相似文献

Tetranuclear manganese(II) phosphates [Mn(dipp)(bpy)]4?4 H2O ( 1 ) and [Mn4(dmpp)2(dmppH)4(bpy)4(H2O)2]?H2O ( 2 ) have been prepared from Mn(OAc)2?4 H2O and 2,6‐diisopropylphenyl phosphate (dippH2) or 2,6‐dimethylphenyl phosphate (dmppH2) in the presence of 2,2′‐bipyridine (bpy). In contrast, the reaction between [Mn(bpy)2(OAc)(ClO4)]?H2O and dippH2 affords [Mn(bpy)2(dippH)]2?2 ClO4?2 CH3OH ( 3 ). The reactions of Mn(OAc)2?4 H2O, dippH2, and pyridine (py) or 3,5‐dimethylpyrazole (dmpz) in CH3CN under reflux afford hexanuclear complexes [Mn6(dipp)6(py)8]?2CH3CN ( 4 ) and [Mn6(dipp)6(dmpz)6(AcOH)2]?2 H2O ( 5 ), respectively. Although compounds 1 and 2 are tetrameric, the former is a closed cubane‐like structure resembling the D4R secondary building unit of zeolites, whereas the latter exists in a staircase structure with fused Mn2O4P2 rings. The core structure of 3 contains a Mn2O4P2 eight‐membered ring that resembles the S4R building block of zeolites. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction studies reveal that compounds 4 and 5 have a similar core structure and differ from each other by the neutral ligands coordinated to manganese ions. All six phosphate ligands exist in a doubly deprotonated [(RO)PO32?] form and exhibit two types of binding modes [5.222] and [3.111]. An interesting feature of compounds 1 – 5 is that although they are oligonuclear complexes, there is an absence of oxido bridges. The magnetic properties of compounds 1 – 5 have been investigated in the temperature range 5–298 K, and it was found that all the compounds obey the Curie law.  相似文献

Fine powders of lanthanum iron oxide, LaFeO3, have been prepared by solid state reaction as well as sol-gel synthesis and nebulized spray pyrolysis. Structures, morphologies and magnetic susceptibility measurements of these powders have been examined. The powders prepared by all the three low-temperature routes contain nearly spherical particles with an average diameter of 40 nm. These samples show a lower Neel temperature than the powder prepared by solid state reaction besides showing much lower magnetic susceptibility at low temperatures. The characterization of new natural fiber is increasing due to its excellent properties. This drives investigators to create high performance composites. The present investigation was designed to study the physicochemical properties of fibers obtained from the leaf of the Artistida hystrix. The Artistida hystrix fibers (AHFs) had crystallinity index (44.85%), cellulose (59.54 wt%), hemicellulose (11.35 wt%), lignin (8.42 wt%), and density (540 kg m?3). The tensile strength of AHFs was 440 ± 13.4 MPa with an average strain rate of 1.57 ± 0.04%. The calculated microfibril angle of AHFs was 12.64 ± 0.45°, which influenced the mechanical properties.  相似文献

The hopping movements of mobile ions in a nanostructured LiAlSiO4 glass ceramic are characterized by time-domain electrostatic force spectroscopy (TDEFS). While the macroscopic conductivity spectra are governed by a single activation energy, the nanoscopic TDEFS measurements reveal three different dynamic processes with distinct activation energies. Apart from the ion transport processes in the glassy and crystalline phases, we identify a third process with a very low activation energy, which is assigned to ionic movements at the interfaces between the crystallites and glassy phase. Such interfacial processes are believed to play a key role for obtaining high ionic conductivities in nanostructured solid electrolytes.  相似文献
