Sodium-ion batteries (NIBs) utilize cheaper materials than lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and can thus be used in larger scale applications. The preferred anode material is hard carbon, because sodium cannot be inserted into graphite. We apply experimental entropy profiling (EP), where the cell temperature is changed under open circuit conditions. EP has been used to characterize LIBs; here, we demonstrate the first application of EP to any NIB material. The voltage versus sodiation fraction curves (voltage profiles) of hard carbon lack clear features, consisting only of a slope and a plateau, making it difficult to clarify the structural features of hard carbon that could optimize cell performance. We find additional features through EP that are masked in the voltage profiles. We fit lattice gas models of hard carbon sodiation to experimental EP and system enthalpy, obtaining: 1. a theoretical maximum capacity, 2. interlayer versus pore filled sodium with state of charge.  相似文献

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT), using δ‐aminolevulinic acid (5‐ALA), in the elimination of premalignant cervical lesions in Mexican patients with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and/or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Thirty women diagnosed with CIN I and/or positive for HPV participated in the study. Topical 6% 5‐ALA in gel form was applied to the uterine cervix; after 4 h, the lesion area was irradiated with a light dose of 200 J cm?2 at 635 nm. This procedure was performed three times at 48‐h intervals. Clinical follow‐up was performed at 3, 6, and 12 months after the initial PDT administration, by colposcopy, cervical cytology, histopathological analysis, polymerase chain reaction, and hybrid capture. Of HPV‐infected patients without evidence of CIN I, 80% cleared the infection, while HPV associated with CIN I was eliminated in 83% of patients (P < 0.05). At 12 months, CIN I had regressed in 57% of patients, although this response was not statistically significant. PDT using 6% 5‐ALA is concluded to be effective in eliminating HPV infection associated or not with CIN I.  相似文献

A simple “green synthesis” of noble metal nanoparticles by direct reaction between Dextran‐graft‐lactone copolymers and metal salts without the need to separately add reducing and stabilizing agents was carried out. The effects of the composition, molecular weights of copolymers and solvents on the characteristics of the nanoparticles were considered. The amphiphilic character of the copolymers seems to be an important factor in the results of the synthesis. According to the results, general correlations between experimental parameters of synthesis and characteristics of the obtained nanoparticles were established. Techniques such as, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, UV–visible spectroscopy, Zeta Potential, dynamic light scattering and Fourier transform Infrared Spectroscopy, were used for the characterization of the products. Sam C. Saunders, the son of Elizabeth Cundiff and Winston E. Saunders, was born in Richland, OR, on February 24, 1931. The family moved to La Grande, OR, in 1944, where Sam completed high school and two years at Eastern Oregon College. He then received the BSc degree in Mathematics from the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR, in 1952, and he attended the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, receiving a PhD degree under Z. W. Birnbaum. After graduating, he accepted employment at the Boeing Company in its Mathematical Services Unit and, in 1972, a position as a Full Professor at Washington State University, Pullman, WA, from which he retired in 1996.  相似文献

This work deals with log‐symmetric regression models, which are particularly useful when the response variable is continuous, strictly positive, and following an asymmetric distribution, with the possibility of modeling atypical observations by means of robust estimation. In these regression models, the distribution of the random errors is a member of the log‐symmetric family, which is composed by the log‐contaminated‐normal, log‐hyperbolic, log‐normal, log‐power‐exponential, log‐slash and log‐Student‐t distributions, among others. One way to select the best family member in log‐symmetric regression models is using information criteria. In this paper, we formulate log‐symmetric regression models and conduct a Monte Carlo simulation study to investigate the accuracy of popular information criteria, as Akaike, Bayesian, and Hannan‐Quinn, and their respective corrected versions to choose adequate log‐symmetric regressions models. As a business application, a movie data set assembled by authors is analyzed to compare and obtain the best possible log‐symmetric regression model for box offices. The results provide relevant information for model selection criteria in log‐symmetric regressions and for the movie industry. Economic implications of our study are discussed after the numerical illustrations.  相似文献

A novel and suitable energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescent (EDXRF) device, currently at the prototype stage, the Project OXIRIS (Orthovoltage X-Ray–Induced Radiation System), is presented for the simultaneous detection and treatment of cancer diseases. Monte Carlo simulation and experimental results of EDXRF signals from a small deep artificial tumor consisting of a solution of gold nanoparticles bio-targeted and immersed in a tissue-bioequivalent matrix are presented and compared. Briefly, the device consists of a dynamic orthovoltage X-ray fluence concentration coupled to confocal with an EDXRF system along with a sample holder for 3D scanning; all integrated and controlled by a dedicated software capable of controlling the whole operation functionalities: the X-ray source, the rotating arm, the sample holder, and the detection system. The software also includes dedicated subroutines for X-ray fluorescent spectra processing to correlate K-lines signal at each acquisition position with the corresponding high atomic number elements' concentration to produce a 3D distribution according to the user-defined grid. The confocal configuration ensures that the detected signal comes exclusively from the excited volume as defined by the bulk of the focal spot. Hence, the 3D image is achieved by scanning the sample holder through the movement of the sample-carrier stretcher moved by step motors in the 3 coordinated axes. The feasibility of the proposed methodology and the design of the prototype have been successfully demonstrated experimentally, targeting gold nanoparticles in water-equivalent phantoms.  相似文献

Different strategies to improve the excited state properties of polypyridinic complexes by varying ligand structure and molecular geometry are described. Bidentate and tetradentate ligands based on fragments as dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine, dppz, and pyrazino[2,3-f][1,10]-phenanthroline, ppl, have been used. Quinonic residues were fused to these basic units to improve acceptor properties. Photophysical studies were performed in order to test theoretical predictions.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a concept of exponential dichotomy for linear skew-product semiflows (LSPS) in infinite dimensional Banach spaces, which is an extension of the classical concept of exponential dichotomy for time dependent linear differential equations in Banach spaces. We prove that the concept of exponential dichotomy used by Sacker-Sell and Magalhães in recent years is stronger than this one, but they are equivalent under suitable conditions. Using this concept we where able to find a formula for all the bounded negative continuations. After that, we characterize the stable and unstable subbundles in terms of the boundedness of the corresponding projector along (forward/backward) the LSPS and in terms of the exponential decay of the semiflow. The linear theory presented here provides a foundation for studying the nonlinear theory. Also, this concept can be used to study the existence of exponential dichotomy and the roughness property for LSPS.
