Construction of binary LCD codes,ternary LCD codes and quaternary Hermitian LCD codes

We give two methods for constructing many linear complementary dual (LCD for short) codes from a given LCD code, by modifying some known methods for constructing self-dual codes. Using the methods, we construct binary LCD codes and quaternary Hermitian LCD codes, which improve the previously known lower bounds on the largest minimum weights.

     

Total Synthesis of the 7,10‐Epimer of the Proposed Structure of Amphidinolide N,Part II: Synthesis of C17–C29 Subunit and Completion of the Synthesis

The total synthesis of 7,10‐epimer of the proposed structure of amphidinolide N was accomplished. The requisite chiral C17–C29 subunit was assembled stereoselectively via Keck allylation, Shi epoxidation, diastereoselective 1,3‐reduction, and a later oxidative synthesis of the THF framework. The C1–C13 and C17–C29 subunits were successfully coupled using a Enders RAMP “linchpin” as the C14–C16 three carbon unit, thereby controlling the chirality at C14 and C16. The labile allyl epoxy moiety was successfully constructed by Grieco–Nishizawa olefination at a final stage of the synthesis.     

Biosynthesis of Indole Diterpene Lolitrems: Radical-Induced Cyclization of an Epoxyalcohol Affording a Characteristic Lolitremane Skeleton

Lolitrems are tremorgenic indole diterpenes that exhibit a unique 5/6 bicyclic system of the indole moiety. Although genetic analysis has indicated that the prenyltransferase LtmE and the cytochrome P450 LtmJ are involved in the construction of this unique structure, the detailed mechanism remains to be elucidated. Herein, we report the reconstitution of the biosynthetic pathway for lolitrems employing a recently established genome-editing technique for the expression host Aspergillus oryzae. Heterologous expression and bioconversion of the various intermediates revealed that LtmJ catalyzes multistep oxidation to furnish the lolitrem core. We also isolated the key reaction intermediate with an epoxyalcohol moiety. This observation allowed us to establish the mechanism of radical-induced cyclization, which was firmly supported by density functional theory calculations and a model experiment with a synthetic analogue.     

Enhanced conformational sampling method for proteins based on the TaBoo SeArch algorithm: Application to the folding of a mini‐protein,chignolin

The conformational samplings are indispensible for obtaining reliable canonical ensembles, which provide statistical averages of physical quantities such as free energies. However, the samplings of vast conformational space of biomacromolecules by conventional molecular dynamics (MD) simulations might be insufficient, due to their inadequate accessible time‐scales for investigating biological functions. Therefore, the development of methodologies for enhancing the conformational sampling of biomacromolecules still remains as a challenging issue in computational biology. To tackle this problem, we newly propose an efficient conformational search method, which is referred as TaBoo SeArch (TBSA) algorithm. In TBSA, an inverse energy histogram is used to select seeds for the conformational resampling so that states with high frequencies are inhibited, while states with low frequencies are efficiently sampled to explore the unvisited conformational space. As a demonstration, TBSA was applied to the folding of a mini‐protein, chignolin, and automatically sampled the native structure (C_α root mean square deviation < 1.0 Å) with nanosecond order computational costs started from a completely extended structure, although a long‐time 1‐µs normal MD simulation failed to sample the native structure. Furthermore, a multiscale free energy landscape method based on the conformational sampling of TBSA were quantitatively evaluated through free energy calculations with both implicit and explicit solvent models, which enable us to find several metastable states on the folding landscape. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     

A Defective Nanotube Molecule of C552H496N24 with Pyridinic and Pyrrolic Nitrogen Atoms

A 3-nm molecule comprising a cylindrical core and cross-shaped rims was designed and synthesized by developing a modular synthetic route. By using a cyclic precursor from previous studies as a starting material, multiple carbazole units were installed at the rims of the defective cylinder. The defective cylinder was synthetically doped with two types of nitrogen atoms, that is, pyridinic and pyrrolic nitrogen atoms, which resulted in solvatochromic shifts in fluorescence by charge-transfer interactions. The structure of the large, C₅₅₂H₄₉₆N₂₄ molecule was fully disclosed by crystallographic analyses, and the unique helical arrangement of nitrogen-doped cylinders in the crystal was revealed.     

Formation of Stable and Monodispersive Polyion Complex Micelles in Aqueous Medium from Poly(L-lysine) And Poly(Ethylene Glycol)-Poly(Aspartic Acid) Block Copolymer

Abstract

In this study, the formation of polyion complex micelles from a pair of poly(L-lysine) homopolymers (P(Lys)) and poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(aspartic acid) block copolymers (PEG-P(Asp)) with varying chain length was demonstrated in aqueous medium. There exists the lower critical chain length in the charged segments of both P(Lys) and PEG-P(Asp) to form stable polyion complex micelles in nanometric scale. The scaled average characteristic line width (ΓTK²) was independent on the detection angles for all combinations, suggesting that the formed polyion complex micelles may have a spherical shape. Furthermore, the transitional diffusion coefficient (D_T) had no concentration dependence, indicating the micelle system was free from secondary aggregates (the cluster of micelles). It is of interest that the micellar size was almost constant (ca. 50 nm) regardless of the change in the chain length of the charged segments. Size distribution was extremely narrow, and the values of variance μ₂/Γ ²) were always less than 0.1. Laser-Doppler electrophoresis measurements revealed that the polyion complex micelles were electrically neutral, suggesting that the PEG corona surrounding the polyion complex core may contribute to their stable dispersion in an aqueous medium through steric repulsion of the tethered hydrophilic chain, in this case, PEG. This system was considerably stable against the change in ionic strength, and it maintained a constant diameter in the region below 0.4 M NaCl. However, they dissociated under high ionic strength condition as 0.6 M NaCl. The system may have potential utility to include charged peptides and nucleotides in the core, delivering these biologically useful substances into a target site in the body.     

The Polymerization of 1,3-Dioxolane Catalyzed by Ion Exchange Resin (Polystyrene Sulfonic Acid)

Polystyrene sulfonic acid resin (Amberlyst 15) was found to initiate the cationic polymerization of 1,3-dioxolane easily in bulk at 0 to 50° C, and polymers with a reduced viscosity of 0.1 were obtained. However, this resin showed only low initiator activity for the polymerizations of 2-methyl-1, 3-dioxolane and trioxane.     

Horizontal and vertical mutation fans

We introduce diagrams for m-cluster categories which we call "horizontal" and "vertical" mutation fans. These are analogous to the mutation fans(also known as "semi-invariant pictures" or "scattering diagrams") for the standard(m = 1) cluster case, which are dual to the poset of finitely generated torsion classes. The purpose of these diagrams is to visualize mutations and analogues of maximal green sequences in the m-cluster category with special emphasis on the c-vectors(the "brick" labels).     

Cyclic posets and triangulation clusters

Triangulated categories coming from cyclic posets were originally introduced by the authors in a previous paper as a generalization of the constructions of various triangulated categories with cluster structures.We give an overview, and then analyze "triangulation clusters" which are those corresponding to topological triangulations of the 2-disk. Locally finite nontriangulation clusters give topological triangulations of the "cactus space" associated to the "cactus cyclic poset".
