The purpose of this article is to review and evaluate cloud point extraction of metals and its coupling to different contemporary instrumental methods of analysis. This review covers a selection of the literature published on this topic over the period mainly between 1997 and September 2005 (consisting of 50 publications). The current state of the art for CPE concerning metals and metal chelates is presented with special emphasis on the hyphenation of this interesting extraction/preconcentration approach mediated by surfactants to spectrophotometry, atomic spectroscopy and separation techniques. We present contemporary CPE developments concerning metal speciation and determination and their application to different environmental, clinical, geological and food samples. Strategies for method development as well as future perspectives are also covered.  相似文献

An on-line nickel preconcentration and determination system implemented with inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) associated to flow injection (FI) was studied. Trace amounts of nickel were preconcentrated by sorption on a conical minicolumn packed with activated carbon (AC) at pH 5.0. The nickel was removed from the minicolumn with 20% nitric acid. An enrichment factor of 80-fold for a sample volume of 50 ml was obtained. The detection limit (DL) value for the preconcentration method proposed was 82 ng l−1. The precision for ten replicate determinations at the 0.5 μg l−1 Ni level was 3.0% relative standard deviation (R.S.D.), calculated from the peak heights obtained. The calibration graph preconcentration method for nickel was linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.9997 at levels near the detection limits (DL) up to at least 100 μg l−1. The method was successfully applied to the determination of nickel in natural water samples.  相似文献

The development of methodologies for the characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized using natural products has received increasing attention, especially to monitoring its stability and size for further application. In this paper, a capillary electrophoretic (CE) method is presented for characterization of AgNPs synthesized using honey or glucose as reducing agents. A simple electrolyte solution composed of 20 mM sodium borate and 20 mM sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) at pH 8.5 was used for separation of AgNPs within a short analysis time (<12 min). The obtained results were compared with the traditional characterization techniques, such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS), showing satisfactory correlation in terms of size distribution. In addition, valuable information about electrophoretic mobility and zeta potential values of AgNPs was obtained by applying the CE-UV/Vis method. Thus, the proposed methodology represents a straightforward tool for the fast and cost-effective characterization of AgNPs within a single analysis, employing minimal amounts of reagents and samples.  相似文献

We present a new method for decomposing the one convolution required by standard Particle-Particle Particle-Mesh (P(3)M) electrostatic methods into a series of convolutions over slab-shaped subregions of the original simulation cell. Most of the convolutions derive data from separate regions of the cell and can thus be computed independently via FFTs, in some cases with a small amount of zero padding so that the results of these sub-problems may be reunited with minimal error. A single convolution over the entire cell is also performed, but using a much coarser mesh than the original problem would have required. This "Multi-Level Ewald" (MLE) method therefore requires moderately more FFT work plus the tasks of interpolating between different sizes of mesh and accumulating the results from neighboring sub-problems, but we show that the added expense can be less than 10% of the total simulation cost. We implement MLE as an approximation to the Smooth Particle Mesh Ewald (SPME) style of P(3)M, and identify a number of tunable parameters in MLE. With reasonable settings pertaining to the degree of overlap between the various sub-problems and the accuracy of interpolation between meshes, the errors obtained by MLE can be smaller than those obtained in molecular simulations with typical SPME settings. We compare simulations of a box of water molecules performed with MLE and SPME, and show that the energy conservation, structural, and dynamical properties of the system are more affected by the accuracy of the SPME calculation itself than by the additional MLE approximation. We anticipate that the MLE method's ability to break a single convolution into many independent sub-problems will be useful for extending the parallel scaling of molecular simulations.  相似文献

DPA‐713 is the lead compound of a recently reported pyrazolo[1,5‐a]pyrimidineacetamide series, targeting the translocator protein (TSPO 18 kDa), and as such, this structure, as well as closely related derivatives, have been already successfully used as positron emission tomography radioligands. On the basis of the pharmacological core of this ligands series, a new magnetic resonance imaging probe, coded DPA‐C6‐(Gd)DOTAMA was designed and successfully synthesized in six steps and 13% overall yield from DPA‐713. The Gd‐DOTA monoamide cage (DOTA = 1,4,7,10‐tetraazacyclododecane‐1,4,7,10‐tetraacetic acid) represents the magnetic resonance imaging reporter, which is spaced from the phenylpyrazolo[1,5‐a]pyrimidineacetamide moiety (DPA‐713 motif) by a six carbon‐atom chain. DPA‐C6‐(Gd)DOTAMA relaxometric characterization showed the typical behavior of a small‐sized molecule (relaxivity value: 6.02 mM?1 s?1 at 20 MHz). The good hydrophilicity of the metal chelate makes DPA‐C6‐(Gd)DOTAMA soluble in water, affecting thus its biodistribution with respect to the parent lipophilic DPA‐713 molecule. For this reason, it was deemed of interest to load the probe to a large carrier in order to increase its residence lifetime in blood. Whereas DPA‐C6‐(Gd)DOTAMA binds to serum albumin with a low affinity constant, it can be entrapped into liposomes (both in the membrane and in the inner aqueous cavity). The excitation functions for production of 48 residues in the interaction of 16O with 103Rh have been measured at incident energies varying from about 40 to 400MeV. Their analysis shows that many competing reaction mechanism contribute to the formation of these residues including complete fusion, break-up-fusion reactions and 16O inelastic scattering. The cross-sections of most of these mechanisms are obtained by independent measurements of the spectra of intermediate-mass fragments observed in the interaction of 16O on 93Nb. The agreement between measured and calculated excitation functions is satisfactory in most of the cases.  相似文献

We review our performance in the SAMPL5 challenge for predicting host–guest binding affinities using the movable type (MT) method. The challenge included three hosts, acyclic Cucurbit[2]uril and two octa-acids with and without methylation at the entrance to their binding cavities. Each host was associated with 6–10 guest molecules. The MT method extrapolates local energy landscapes around particular molecular states and estimates the free energy by Monte Carlo integration over these landscapes. Two blind submissions pairing MT with variants of the KECSA potential function yielded mean unsigned errors of 1.26 and 1.53 kcal/mol for the non-methylated octa-acid, 2.83 and 3.06 kcal/mol for the methylated octa-acid, and 2.77 and 3.36 kcal/mol for Cucurbit[2]uril host. While our results are in reasonable agreement with experiment, we focused on particular cases in which our estimates gave incorrect results, particularly with regard to association between the octa-acids and an adamantane derivative. Working on the hypothesis that differential solvation effects play a role in effecting computed binding affinities for the parent octa-acid and the methylated octa-acid and that the ligands bind inside the pockets (rather than on the surface) we devised a new solvent accessible surface area term to better quantify solvation energy contributions in MT based studies. To further explore this issue a, molecular dynamics potential of mean force (PMF) study indicates that, as found by our docking calculations, the stable binding mode for this ligand is inside (rather than surface bound) the octa-acid cavity whether the entrance is methylated or not. The PMF studies also obtained the correct order for the methylation-induced change in binding affinities and associated the difference, to a large extent to differential solvation effects. Overall, the SAMPL5 challenge yielded in improvements our solvation modeling and also demonstrated the need for thorough validation of input data integrity prior to any computational analysis.  相似文献

The effect of simultaneous substitution of a fluctuating cation and a divalent cation in LaMnO3 perovskite modifies the properties of the material to exhibit large valence colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) effect. A good example of these properties is (La1−2x Pr x Ca x )MnO3 (LPCMO) type CMR material. In this communication it is reported that, with the increase in x (for x=0.1, 0.15, 0.2), the T c varies between 100 and 120 K with improvisation in metal-insulator transition. Interestingly, resistance increases with x from few hundred ohms to few kilo ohms with corresponding decrease in the unit cell volume. The results of the studies using X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance and ac susceptibility measurements on LPCMO samples for understanding the structural, transport and magnetic properties are discussed in detail.  相似文献
