We have used temperature- and frequency-resolved ac-susceptibility measurements to investigate the magnetic relaxation of a Co0.2Fe2.8O4 magnetic fluid above the freezing point of the liquid carrier. Our data show that both the Néel and the Brown relaxation mechanisms are operative at temperatures in the vicinity of the out-of-phase (imaginary) susceptibility peak. We separate the contributions of the two mechanisms to the overall relaxation time, and demonstrate that Brownian relaxation plays a dominant role at all temperatures within this high-dissipation regime.  相似文献

Zero-valent palladium precatalysts containing rigid bidentate bis(arylimino)acenaphthene ligands (shown schematically) facilitate the highly stereoselective homogeneous catalytic hydrogenation of alkynes to (Z)-alkenes. Internal, terminal, aryl-substituted, and cyclic alkynes are suitable substrates, as are some enynes, which are chemoselectively hydrogenated to dienes. The design, fabrication, and testing of photoelastic models of double-lap, multiple-pin connectors are discussed. Interest is in the stresses in the inner laps. These stresses are determined by constructing models with photoelastic inner laps and transparent-acrylic outer laps. The connectors have two pins, in tandem, parallel to the load direction. A photoelastic-isotropic point is shown to permit the evaluation of load sharing between the two pins. A numerical scheme, utilizing the isochromatic- and isoclinic-photoelastic data and a finite-difference representation of the planestress equilibrium equations, is used to compute the stresses around the two pins. Representative stress distributions and stress-concentration factors are shown.  相似文献

The sensitivity of all ion trap mass spectrometry (ITMS) methods is dependent on the trapping efficiency of the instrument. For ITMS instruments utilizing external ion sources, such as laser desorption, trapping efficiency is known to depend on the phase and amplitude of the radio frequency (RF) potential applied to the ring electrode at the time of ion introduction. It is remarkable that, in a considerable body of literature, no consensus exists regarding the effects of these parameters on the efficacy of trapping externally generated ions. In this paper, a summary of the literature is presented in order to highlight significant discrepancies. New laser desorption ion trap mass spectrometry (LD-ITMS) data are also presented, from which conclusions are drawn in our effort to clarify some of the confusion. A spherical-type neutron dose monitor has been developed for the use of area monitoring around the neutron producing fields. Considering the practical fields that neutrons coming from multiple directions, the study has been performed using MCNP simulation, in order to estimate the resultant direction of the sources and to find a suitable method of H1(10) evaluation. This was done by irradiating the monitor using two neutron sources of different energies and intensities; placed at an angle between them. A parallel neutron beam of 50 cm radius with wide energy was used for the irradiation. The direction of the neutron sources was determined comparing the responses of 12 thermo-luminescent detectors (TLDs) of first layer between single and two directional sources. It was found that in most of the cases, the direction of the source was estimated to be the average angle or near the average angle of single sources. Using a linear combinational equation the method has been developed for evaluating the dose from the mean values of selected detectors of two consecutive depths of TLDs and the TLD of core depth. It was found that the ratio of the calculated to the expected dose was almost close to unity which indicates that the method can be used for evaluating the dose with good accuracy.  相似文献

In this article, we attempt to characterize efficient solutions of constrained interval optimization problems. Towards this aim, at first, we study a scalarization characterization to capture efficient solutions. Then, with the help of saddle point of a newly introduced Lagrangian function, we investigate efficient solutions of an interval optimization problem. An experimental investigation has been carried out for turbulent flow through a tube with perforated strip inserts. Strips were of mild steels with circular holes of different diameters. Flow varies, with ranging Reynolds numbers from 15,000 to 47,000. Air velocity, tube wall temperatures, and pressure drops were measured for a plain and strip-inserted tube. The heat transfer coefficient and friction factor were found to be 2.80 times and 1.8 times, respectively, that of the plain tube. The heat transfer performance was evaluated and found to be 2.3 times that of the plain tube based on constant blower power.  相似文献

Many large natural product antibiotics act by specifically binding and sequestering target molecules found on bacterial cells. We have developed a new strategy to expedite the structural analysis of such antibiotic-target complexes, in which we covalently link the target molecules to carrier proteins, and then crystallize the entire carrier-target-antibiotic complex. Using native chemical ligation, we have linked the Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala binding epitope for glycopeptide antibiotics to three different carrier proteins. We show that recognition of this peptide by multiple antibiotics is not compromised by the presence of the carrier protein partner, and use this approach to determine the first-ever crystal structure for the new therapeutic dalbavancin. We also report the first crystal structure of an asymmetric ristocetin antibiotic dimer, as well as the structure of vancomycin bound to a carrier-target fusion. The dalbavancin structure reveals an antibiotic molecule that has closed around its binding partner; it also suggests mechanisms by which the drug can enhance its half-life by binding to serum proteins, and be targeted to bacterial membranes. Notably, the carrier protein approach is not limited to peptide ligands such as Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala, but is applicable to a diverse range of targets. This strategy is likely to yield structural insights that accelerate new therapeutic development.  相似文献
