The chromatographic separation properties of long, thin adsorption tubes enable substance-specific quantitative enrichment and reduction to be achieved when sampling and thermal desorption are carried out in the same flow direction. The specific retention volumes, and also the breakthrough and peak end volumes, of 69 compounds in the boiling range between-164 and 126°C and of a relative molecular mass between 16 and 119 were determined at temperatures between 30 and 130°C: normal alkanes, isoalkanes, cycloalkanes, alkenes, polyenes, alkynes, aromatics, ethers, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and their esters, nitroalkanes, O-heterocycles, S-heterocycles, chloroalkanes, water, nitrogen monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. The correlation between adsorbent temperature and specific retention volume of these components, presented in the form of diagrams, permits the required quantity of adsorbent to be determined for a given sample volume. Contrary to literature sources, even extremely volatile compounds such as propane, propene, methanol, formaldehyde, formic acid, and chloromethane can be quantitatively retained on Tenax provided the operating conditions are appropriately selected.  相似文献

The performance of a PTV injector operated in the solvent venting mode with Tenax in the glass insert was evaluated with synthetic mixtures containing 5 to 50 ng of n-alkanes, ethyl esters, n-alcohols, and carboxylic acids. The influence of the sampled amount, the injected volume, and the nature of the solvent on accuracy and precision were studied. Coefficients of variation of relative (normalized) peak areas and absolute peak area ratios of each compound to the standard are of the order of 5 %.  相似文献

The storage stability of the occupationally frequently occurring compounds, methylethylketone, methylisobutylketone, benzene, toluene, tetrachloroethylene, n-butylacetate, -pinene, β-pinene, limonene and n-decane, has been investigated on the adsorbents Tenax TA, Chromosorb 106 and Carbotrap using thermally desorbable tube type samplers, commonly utilized in ambient and workroom atmospheric measurements. Fifty and 500 ng of each compound were loaded on the various adsorbents tubes, stored at both ambient (20 °C) and refrigerated (4 °C) temperatures and analysed by means of thermal gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection on days 0, 7, 14 and 28 after exposure. A 90% storage recovery was chosen as acceptance criteria for storage stability, and statistical testing by Student's t-test, analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc tests were employed to investigate the effect of the categorical variables storage time, storage temperature and analyte loading on the different adsorbents. Chromosorb 106 showed the overall best behaviour with recoveries of 90% or better for all analytes during the 28-day test period. Tenax TA and Carbotrap yielded lower recoveries and were more influenced by variations in storage time, storage temperature and analyte loading. Refrigerated temperatures were best avoided for storage on Tenax TA, but may increase the recovery of some compounds on Carbotrap (e.g. n-butylacetate). The blank build-up on the adsorbents was also investigated, and Carbotrap and Tenax TA showed no signs of artefact development over time. Chromosorb 106, however, contained inherently more artefacts that build up over time, which in spite of the excellent storage capability, may limit its use in field studies where long storage times are normal.  相似文献

Gas chromatography using flameless sulfur chemiluminescence detection was applied to the analysis of sulfur compounds in air. A trap employing the solid adsorbent Tenax GR was used to enrich ambient levels of volatile sulfur compounds. The sulfur gases were then thermally released according to programmed temperature from the adsorbent trap and re-collected in a column cooled with liquid nitrogen. The sulfur compounds were revolatilized and directly transferred to the system of PLOT-column gas chromatograph/flameless sulfur chemiluminescence detector for analysis. The PTV injector has been used as a thermal resorption chamber for analysis of sulfur compounds. The sulfur gaseous compounds known to cause nuisance odors in the air from sewerage treatment works were determined.  相似文献

Summary A preliminary study has been carried out to evaluate a new adsorbent, Thermosorb, for trace level organic contaminants. For this purpose, a comparison was made with a well-characterized adsorbent, Tenax GC, using a prepared aqueous solution of trace organic components. In addition, a comparison was made of chromatograms of air contaminants obtained using both of these adsorbents, under equivalent conditions. The results clearly indicated the potential of this thermally stable, inorganic adsorbent for many trace organic substances of environmental interest.  相似文献

Abstract

A technique was developed using sparging and pre-concentration onto a Tenax trap at ambient temperature allowing field measurements to be made of reduced sulfur gases in Antarctic marine and glacial melt waters. Following thermal desorption, gases were determined by gas chromatography using a flame photometric detector. Detection limits in ng 1?1 were: H2S 50, OCS 8, SO2 160, CH3SH 6, CH3SCH3 20 and CS2 2. Storage of melt water samples for more than 24 hours resulted in concentration changes of the reduced sulfur gases present. While the Antarctic environment imposed limitations on the analytical method, an investigation of various pond and marine waters was undertaken.  相似文献

为了解纸质包装材料中甲醛、乙醛向食品模拟物改性聚苯醚( Tenax)中的迁移行为,建立了一步提取衍生化、超高效液相色谱测定纸质包装材料和Tenax中的甲醛和乙醛的方法。本方法在甲醛和乙醛的测定范围内,线性相关系数R2>0.9999,甲醛检出限为0.03 mg/m2,乙醛检出限为0.04 mg/m2,测定纸样和Tenax的加标回收率为90.1%~108.6%。采用本方法研究不同温度和时间下两种纸质包装材料中甲醛、乙醛向Tenax中的迁移规律。研究表明,甲醛、乙醛迁移行为随时间变化趋势大致相同,均呈现迁移率随迁移时间延长先迅速增大,后又减小达到一个常数;甲醛和乙醛迁移率受温度的影响不同,达到平衡后,甲醛在30℃下迁移率最高,乙醛在70℃和50℃下迁移率高;甲醛和乙醛向Tenax中的迁移率差异较大,达到平衡后,乙醛的迁移率远高于甲醛。  相似文献

This work aims at evaluating poly(2,6-diphenyl-p-phenylene oxide) (Tenax TA), in the form of thin films, as an adsorbent material for various analytical applications. The physical properties of the polymer were studied with regard to surface topography, crystal structure, and thermal stability. Films deposited from solution at different substrate temperatures were studied and compared to the granular form of the polymer. It was found that Tenax TA deposited from solution have a different topography compared to their granular counterpart. The films possess a complex phase composition that includes crystalline and amorphous phases. The films showed high thermal stability (400 °C) similar to the granular form. The adsorption performance of the polymer compared to other possible adsorbent films such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and layer-by-layer assembled gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were also investigated. Representative volatile organic compound samples were used to compare the adsorption properties of Tenax TA films to that of the granules.  相似文献
