Electrooxidation of carbo/thiocarbohydrazide and their hydrazone derivatives at a glassy carbon electrode

Electrochemical oxidation of thio/carbohydrazide and their hydrazone derivatives Benzaldehyde thiocarbohydrazone [BTCH] diacetylene thiocarbohydrazone [DATCH] have been studied in Brit-ton Robinson buffer in aqueous and nonaqueous media at a glassy carbon electrode. The effects of pH, sweep rate, concentration, temperature and surfactants have been studied. The complex bis (carbo/thiocabohydrazide) Zn(II) chloride was also subjected to voltammetric analysis in order to understand the reactivity both in free and metal bound states. The reaction conditions were optimized for the determination of above compounds in micrograms quantities by differential pulse voltammetry, analytical utility of this investigation is also highlighted.     

The growth of Pd thin films on a 6H-SiC(0 0 0 1) substrate

Pd thin films, grown on Si-rich 6H-SiC(0 0 0 1) substrates, were studied by atomic force microscopy, electron diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. It is concluded that the growth is successful only when all the growth process takes place at room temperature. Under these conditions a very good epitaxial growth of Pd is achieved, despite the large misfit (about 8.6%) between Pd and the substrate and the existence of a semi-amorphous layer between the thin film and the substrate. A large number of twins appear in these films.     

Synthesis of cellulose carbamate by supercritical CO2-assisted impregnation: Structure and rheological properties

Cellulose carbamate, an environmentally friendly material presents an interesting alternative to petroleum-based polymers because of its renewable, biodegradable, biocompatible nature and its solubility in conventional solvents. In synthesis process of cellulose carbamate, urea was firstly impregnated into the cellulose pulp by supercritical CO₂(scCO₂), followed by the esterification of cellulose. The structure of cellulose carbamate was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The rheological properties of these cellulose carbamates in 9% sodium hydroxide solution were investigated, using a range of the nitrogen content, concentrations and shear rates.     

Irradiation-induced reduction and luminescence properties of Sm doped in BaBPO5

Usually, Sm²⁺ ions could be reduced by heating the materials in reducing atmospheres. Exposure to ionizing radiations is also known to cause Sm³⁺→Sm²⁺ conversion. In this work, BaBPO₅ doped with the samarium ion was prepared by high temperature solid-state reaction. Sm²⁺ ions were obtained by two different reduction methods, i.e., heating in H₂ reduced atmosphere and X-ray irradiation. The measurements of X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were investigated. It is found that the conversion of Sm³⁺→Sm²⁺ is very efficient in BaBPO₅ hosts after X-ray irradiation. Sm²⁺ ions under these two reduction methods exhibit different characteristics that were studied by measurements of luminescence and decay. The results showed that the luminescence properties of Sm²⁺ ions in BaBPO₅ were highly dependent on the sample preparation conditions.     

重金属Pb2+对玉米苗生长的影响

以水栽培的玉米幼苗为材料，用不同浓度的醋酸铅溶液处理后，分别在第10天、第20天、第30天对玉米苗的根、茎、叶分别进行Pb^2＋含量测定。分析结果：Pb^2＋在玉米体内的分布表现为根〉叶〉茎；玉米中的叶绿素含量均降低；随着Pb^2＋浓度的增大，玉米细胞的膜透性表现根〉叶〉茎依次升高；Pb^2＋对玉米的伤害率的大小表现为根〉叶〉茎。该实验为进一步研究农作物对重金属Pb^2＋的耐性和重金属Pb^2＋在农作物体内的分布提供了可参考的数据。     

Continuity of the Restriction of C 0-Semigroups to Invariant Banach Subspaces

A linear semigroup in a Banach space induces a linear semigroup on a Banach space that can be continuously embedded in the former such that its image is invariant. This restriction need not be strongly continuous, although the original semigroup is strongly continuous. We show that norm or weak compactness of partial orbits is a necessary and sufficient condition for strong continuity of the restriction of a C₀-semigroup. We then show that if the embedded Banach space is reflexive and the norms of the restricted semigroup operators are bounded near the initial time, then the restricted semigroup is strongly continuous.     

θ*r,s,t-图与唯一2-列表染色图的特征化

如果一个图G存在一个k-列表安排使得G具有一个唯一列表染色,则称 G是唯一列表可染色图,简称UkLC图．我们称图G具有M(k)性质当且仅当G不 是UkLC图．本文在借鉴θr,s,t-图概念的基础上引入θr,s,t-图的定义,并证明:除了 r=s=t=2以外,θr,s,t-图都是U2LC图．利用如上结果我们给出M．Mahdian and E．S．Mahmoodian对U2LC图所作特征化的一个简单证明．     

Synthesis and characterization of poly(higher‐α‐olefin)s with a nickel(α‐diimine)/methylaluminoxane catalyst system: Effect of chain running on the polymer properties

Homopolymerization of octadecene‐1 at different reaction conditions has been studied. Significant chain running can be seen at higher polymerization temperatures. Interestingly, insertion of octadecene‐1 into a sterically hindered nickel‐cation/carbon (secondary) bond is observed. The microstructure of the polymer was established using NMR spectroscopy. The effects of chain running on polymer melting, crystallization behavior, and dynamic mechanical thermal properties were studied using DSC and DMTA. The extent of chain running (i.e., 2,ω‐, 1,ω‐enchainments) decreases with an increase in the carbon number of α‐olefins. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Synthesis of optically active poly(N‐propargylsulfamides) with helical conformation

A novel chiral N‐propargylsulfamide monomer ( 1a ) and its enantiomer ( 1b ) were synthesized and polymerized with (nbd)Rh⁺B^?(C₆H₅)₄ as a catalyst providing poly(1) (poly( 1a ) and poly( 1b )) in high yields (≥99%). Poly(1) could take stable helices in less polar solvents (chloroform and THF), demonstrated by strong circular dichroism signals and UV–vis absorption peaks at about 415 nm and the large specific rotations; but in more polar solvents including DMF and DMSO, poly(1) failed to form helix. Quantitative evaluation with anisotropy factor showed that the helical screw sense had a relatively high thermal stability. These results together with the IR spectra measured in solvents showed that hydrogen bonding between the neighboring sulfamide groups is one of the main driving forces for poly(1) to adopt stable helices. In addition, copolymerization of monomer 1a and monomer 2 was conducted, the solubility of poly(1) was improved drastically.
