The method of multisplitting (MS), implemented as a restricted additive Schwarz type algorithm, is extended for the solution of regularized least squares problems. The presented non‐stationary version of the algorithm uses dynamic updating of the weights applied to the subdomains in reconstituting the global solution. Standard convergence results follow from extensive prior literature on linear MS schemes. Additional convergence results on nonstationary iterations yield convergence conditions for the presented nonstationary MS algorithm. The global iteration uses repeated solves of local problems with changing right hand sides but a fixed system matrix. These problems are solved inexactly using a conjugate gradient least squares algorithm which provides a seed Krylov subspace. Recycling of the seed system Krylov subspace to obtain the solutions of subsequent nearby systems of equations improves the overall efficiency of the MS algorithm, and is apparently novel in this context. The obtained projected solution is not always of sufficient accuracy to satisfy a reasonable inner convergence condition on the local solution. Improvements to accuracy may be achieved by reseeding the solution space either every few steps, or when the successive right hand sides are sufficiently close as measured by a provided tolerance. Restarting and augmenting the solution space are also discussed. Any time a new space is generated it is used for subsequent steps. Numerical simulations validate the use of the recycling algorithm. These numerical experiments use the standard reconstruction of the two dimensional Shepp–Logan phantom, as well as a two dimensional problem from seismic tomography. This paper analyzes the existence and the uniqueness problem for an n‐dimensional nonlinear inverse reaction‐diffusion problem with a nonlinear source. A transformation is used to obtain a new inverse coefficient problem. Then, a parabolic differential operator Lλ is defined to establish the relation between the solution of Lλ = 0 and the new inverse problem. Following this, it is shown that the inverse problem has at least one solution in the class of admissible coefficients. Furthermore, it is proved that this solution is the unique solution of the undertaken inverse problem. A numerical example is given to illustrate ill‐posedness of the inverse problem. Identifying sources of ground water pollution and deblurring astronomical galaxy images are two important applications generating growing interest in the numerical computation of parabolic equations backward in time. However, while backward uniqueness typically prevails in parabolic equations, the precise data needed for the existence of a particular backward solution is seldom available. This paper discusses previously unexplored non‐uniqueness issues, originating from trying to reconstruct a particular solution from imprecise data. Explicit 1D examples of linear and nonlinear parabolic equations are presented, in which there is strong computational evidence for the existence of distinct solutions wred(x,t) and wgreen(x,t), on 0 ≤ t ≤ 1. These solutions have the property that the traces wred(x,1) and wgreen(x,1) at time t = 1 are close enough to be visually indistinguishable, while the corresponding initial values wred(x,0) and wgreen(x,0) are vastly different, well‐behaved, physically plausible functions, with comparable L2 norms. This implies effective non‐uniqueness in the recovery of wred(x,0) from approximate data for wred(x,1). In all these examples, the Van Cittert iterative procedure is used as a tool to discover unsuspected, valid, additional solutions wgreen(x,0). This methodology can generate numerous other examples and indicates that multidimensional problems are likely to be a rich source of striking non‐uniqueness phenomena. Published 2012. An iterative procedure for determining temperature fields from Cauchy data given on a part of the boundary is presented. At each iteration step, a series of mixed well‐posed boundary value problems are solved for the heat operator and its adjoint. A convergence proof of this method in a weighted L2‐space is included, as well as a stopping criteria for the case of noisy data. Moreover, a solvability result in a weighted Sobolev space for a parabolic initial boundary value problem of second order with mixed boundary conditions is presented. The catalytic activity of copper ion gives, from the physiological point of view, a central role in many biological processes. Variations in the composition and location of cellular copper have been addressed given their physiological and pathological consequences. In this paper l-cysteine capped CdTe quantum dots is used for the fluorimetric determination of Cu(II) in biological samples from healthy individuals and patients admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU). An acceptable homogeneity in the CdTe QDs size has been obtained with an average value of 3 nm. No significant alterations in the spectral properties were observed for 2 months when stored in vacutainers at 6 °C and a concentration of approximately 2 μM. Data from oxidative stress markers such superoxide dismutase, total antioxidant capacity and DNA damage can be correlated with a Cu(II) deficiency for the ICU patients as measured by flame-atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) and inductively coupled plasma source mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Aqueous solutions 0.3 μM of l-cysteine capped CdTe QDs in MOPS buffer (6 mM, pH 7.4) used at 21 °C in the range 15–60 min after preparation of the sample for the measurements of fluorescence gives contents in Cu(II) for erythrocytes in good agreement with those obtained in FAAS and ICP-MS but the comparative ease of use makes the fluorimetric technique more suitable than the other two techniques for routine analysis.  相似文献

The main idea of this paper is to utilize the adaptive iterative schemes based on regularization techniques for moderately ill‐posed problems that are obtained by a system of linear two‐dimensional Volterra integral equations with a singular matrix in the leading part. These problems may arise in the modeling of certain heat conduction processes as well as in the dynamic simulation packages such as compressible flow through a plant piping network. Owing to the ill‐posed nature of the first kind Volterra equation that appears in the system, we will focus on the two families of regularization algorithms, ie, the Landweber and Lavrentiev type methods, where we treat both the exact and perturbed data. Our aim is to work directly with the original Volterra equations without any kind of reduction. Two fast iterative algorithms with reasonable computational complexity are developed. Numerical experiments on a few test problems are used to illustrate the validity and efficiency of the proposed iterative methods in comparison with the classical regularization methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider local well‐posedness and ill‐posedness questions for the fractal Burgers equation. First, we obtain the well‐posedness result in the critical Sobolev space.
