A deterministic,multi-item inventory model with supplier selection and imperfect quality

This paper considers the scenario of supply chain with multiple products and multiple suppliers, all of which have limited capacity. We assume that received items from suppliers are not of perfect quality. Items of imperfect quality, not necessarily defective, could be used in another inventory situation. Imperfect items are sold as a single batch, prior to receiving the next shipment, at a discounted price. The demand over a finite planning horizon is known, and an optimal procurement strategy for this multi-period horizon is to be determined. Each of products can be sourced from a set of approved suppliers, a supplier-dependent transaction cost applies for each period in which an order is placed on a supplier. A product-dependent holding cost per period applies for each product in the inventory that is carried across a period in the planning horizon. Also a maximum storage space for the buyer in each period is considered. The decision maker, the buyer, needs to decide what products to order, in what quantities, with which suppliers, and in which periods. Finally, a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to solve the model.

DNA Binding Studies and Cytotoxicity of Ethylenediamine 8‐Hydroxyquinolinato Palladium(II) Chloride

Interaction between ethylenediamine 8‐hydroxyquinolinato palladium(II) chloride and calf thymus DNA (CT‐DNA) in aqueous solution were studied by UV‐Visible absorption, fluorescence spectroscopic techniques and gel chromatography at temperatures of 300 K and 310 K. The complex bound strongly and intercalatively to the CT‐DNA. The results of the cytotoxicity assay of the Pd(II) complex on the leukemia cell line, K562 indicated lower cytotoxicity than cisplatin. The Pd(II) complex is considered an agent with potential antitumor activity. The calculation of several binding and thermodynamic parameters of the inclusion Pd(II) complex with CT‐DNA may provide deeper insights into the mechanism of action of these types of complexes with nucleic acids.     

Analytic approach to the approximate solution of the independent DGLAP evolution equations with respect to the hard-Pomeron behavior

We show that it is possible to use hard-Pomeron behavior to the gluon distribution and singlet structure function at low x. We derive a second-order independent differential equation for the gluon distribution and the singlet structure function. In this approach, both singlet quarks and gluons have the same high-energy behavior at small x. These equations are derived from the next-to-leading order DGLAP evolution equations. All results can be consistently described in the framework of perturbative QCD, which shows an increase of gluon distribution and singlet structure functions as x decreases.     

Effects of external electric and magnetic fields on the linear and nonlinear intersubband optical properties of finite semi-parabolic quantum dots

In this work, influences of external electric and magnetic fields on the optical rectification coefficient, the linear and the third-order nonlinear optical absorption coefficients as well as refractive index changes of finite semi-parabolic quantum dots are investigated. In this regard, energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the system are calculated numerically, and optical properties are obtained using the compact density matrix approach. The results show that external electric and magnetic fields have a great influence on these optical quantities.
