The doubly deprotonated form of calix[6]arene, with two protonated triethylamines as counter-ions, crystallizes in the monoclinic system: space groupP21/n,a=8.465(4),b=17.822(8),c=15.182(6) Å,=90.18(4)°,V=2291(2) Å3,Z=2. Refinement led to a final conventionalR value of 0.063 for 1046 reflections. The macrocycle conformation is not apinched cone, usual for freeR-calix[6]arene, but a distorted 1,2,3-alternate cone, since the molecule lies on a symmetry center. Furthermore, one of the torsion angles defined by the methylene bridges is near to zero, which is unusual in calixarene structures.

We have found that the dialysis of curdlan dissolved in alkaline solution into aqueous solutions of metal salts yielded multifold gel structures. Aqueous sodium chloride and potassium chloride as well as pure water induced isotropic gels. Aqueous calcium salts induced liquid crystalline gel with refractive index gradient/amorphous gel alternative structure. Aqueous salts of trivalent aluminum and ferric cations induced a rigid liquid crystalline gel, which shrank above a threshold concentration of each salt. On the other hand, Liesegang ring-like pattern was observed with aqueous solutions of mixed salts of calcium chloride and magnesium chloride. Four series of fully aromatic thermotropic liquid crystalline polycarbonates were prepared by melt polycondensation from various novel phenylene diphenyl dicarbonates with monomers, such as hydroquinone, methylhydroquinone, chlorohydroquinone, resorcinol, bisphenol A, 4,4′-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone, or phenylhydroquinone, respectively. The thermotropic liquid crystalline properties were studied by polarizing microscope with a heating stage, differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and wide-angle x-ray diffraction (WAXD). It was found that the nonlinearity of the carbonate group was compensated by resorcinol (1,3-phenylene unit), a bent shape unit. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is the most widely used thermal analytical technique in food research and it has a great utility in quality assurance of food. Proteins are the most studied food components by thermal analysis including studies on conformation changes of food proteins as affected by various environmental factors, thermal denaturation of tissue proteins, food enzymes and enzyme preparations for the food industry, as well as effects of various additives on their thermal properties. Freezing-induced denaturation of food proteins and the effect of cryoprotectants are also monitored by DSC. Polymer characterization based on DSC of polysaccharides, gelatinization behaviour of starches and interaction of starch with other food components can be determined, and phase transitions during baking processes can be studied by DSC. Studies on crystallization and melting behaviour of fats observed by DSC indicate changes in lipid composition or help characterizing products. Thermal oxidative decomposition of edible oils examined by DSC can be used for predicting oil stability. Using DSC in the freezing range has a great potential for measuring and modelling frozen food thermal properties, and to estimate the state of water in foods and food ingredients. Research in food microbiology utilizes DSC in better understanding thermoadaptive mechanisms or heat killing of food-borne microorganisms. Isothermic microcalorimetric techniques provide informative data regarding microbial growth and microbial metabolism. 相似文献

Measurement of the degree of crystallinity of the polymer matrix in a composite is complicated by the presence of the reinforcing additive. This is particularly the case in APC-2 in which as much as 70% can be carbon fibre. A First Law procedure, developed for determining the degree of crystallinity of PEEK, which involves direct measurement of the enthalpy changes associated with melting, crystallization and heat capacity changes, has found to be an effective method for the determination of the crystallinity of the PEEK matrix. SiO2-TiO2-ZrO2 and 5Na2O·95(SiO2 + TiO2 + ZrO2) gels were synthesized and role of Na2O in gel formation and crystallization behavior of gels were studied. From Si(OC2H5)4, Ti(iso-OC3H7)4, Zr(n-OC3H7)4 and NaOCH3 solutions in EtOH without H2O, transparent and opaque gels were obtained. Opaque bulk gels, rich in TiO2 or ZrO2 composition in Na2O containing SiO2-TiO2-ZrO2 system, contain agglomerated spherical particles of diameter small <10 m, in contrast with opaque gels having large particles <30 m in alkali-free SiO2-TiO2-ZrO2 system. Crystallization temperature (Tc) was measured by DTA on dried gels. Compared with the alkali-free SiO2-TiO2-ZrO2 gels, 5 mol% Na2O containing gels gave lower Tc in SiO2 rich compositions and higher in TiO2 rich or ZrO2 rich compositions. 相似文献
