The post-buckling behavior of the thin stiffened plates with uncertain initial deflection under uni-direction compression load is investigated based on Von-Karman large deflection theory. The uncertain initial deflections are considered to be unknown except that they belong to a given set in the interval range. Interval analysis model for computing the bounds of curves of the post-buckling deflection versus load of the plate is presented. Interval analysis model is compared with the stochastic model, which is taken as the benchmarks of accuracy for judgment. The results indicate that the non-probabilistic and stochastic methods will produce similar results for a large deviation of uncertainty. If the probabilistic information is unavailable, one should not propose the probabilistic method based on an arbitrary assumption on the distribution of the deflection coefficients. Investigation on chaos synchronization of autonomous dynamical systems has been largely reported in the literature. However,
synchronization of time-varying, or nonautonomous, uncertain dynamical systems has received less attention. The present contribution
addresses full- and reduced-order synchronization of a class of nonlinear time-varying chaotic systems containing uncertain
parameters. A unified framework is established for both the full-order synchronization between two completely identical time-varying
uncertain systems and the reduced-order synchronization between two strictly different time-varying uncertain systems. The
synchronization is successfully achieved by adjusting the determined algorithms for the estimates of unknown parameters and
the linear feedback gain, which is rigorously proved by means of the Lyapunov stability theorem for nonautonomous differential
equations together with Barbalat’s lemma. Moreover, the synchronization result is robust against the disturbance of noise.
We illustrate the applicability for full-order synchronization using two identical parametrically driven pendulum oscillators
and for reduced-order synchronization using the parametrically driven second-order pendulum oscillator and an additionally

The statistics (i.e., mean and variance) of temperature and thermal stress are analytically obtained in functionally graded
material (FGM) plates with uncertainties in the thermal conductivity and coefficient of linear thermal expansion. These FGM
plates are assumed to have arbitrary nonhomogeneous thermal and mechanical properties through the entire thickness of plate
and are subjected to deterministic convective heating. The stochastic temperature and thermal stress fields are analysed by
assuming the FGM plate is multilayered with distinct, random thermal conductivity and coefficient of linear thermal expansion
in each layer. Vodicka’s method, which is a type of integral transform method, and a perturbation method are employed to obtain
the analytical solutions for the statistics. The autocorrelation coefficients of each random property and cross-correlation
coefficients between different random properties are expressed in exponential function forms as a non-homogeneous Markov random
field of discrete space. Numerical calculations are performed for FGM plates composed of partially stabilised zirconia (PSZ)
and austenitic stainless steel (SUS304), which have the largest dispersion of the random properties at the place where the
volume fractions of the two constituent materials are both 0.5. The effects of the spatial change in material composition,
thermal boundary condition and correlation coefficients on the standard deviations of the temperature and thermal stress are

The exponential stability (with convergence rate α) of uncertain linear systems with multiple time delays is studied in this paper. Using the characteristic function of linear time-delay system, stability criteria are derived to guarantee α-stability. Sufficient conditions are also obtained for exponential stability of uncertain parametric systems with multiple time delays. For two-dimensional time-invariant system with multiple time delays, the proposed stability criteria are shown to be less conservative than those in the literature. In this paper, the transformation method is introduced as a powerful approach for both the simulation and the analysis of systems with uncertain model parameters. Based on the concept of α-cuts, the method represents a special implementation of fuzzy arithmetic that avoids the well-known effect of overestimation which usually arises when fuzzy arithmetic is reduced to interval computation. Systems with uncertain model parameters can thus be simulated without any artificial widening of the simulation results. As a by-product of the implementation scheme, the transformation method also provides a measure of influence to quantitatively analyze the uncertain system with respect to the effect of each uncertain model parameter on the overall uncertainty of the model output. By this, a special kind of sensitivity analysis can be defined on the basis of fuzzy arithmetic. Finally, to show the efficiency of the transformation method, the method is applied to the simulation and analysis of a model for the friction interface between the sliding surfaces of a bolted joint connection. 相似文献

In this paper we formulate and study a minimax control problem for a class of parabolic systems with controlled Dirichlet
boundary conditions and uncertain distributed perturbations under pointwise control and state constraints. We prove an existence
theorem for minimax solutions and develop effective penalized procedures to approximate state constraints. Based on a careful
variational analysis, we establish convergence results and optimality conditions for approximating problems that allow us
to characterize suboptimal solutions to the original minimax problem with hard constraints. Then passing to the limit in approximations,
we prove necessary optimality conditions for the minimax problem considered under proper constraint qualification conditions.

Consider a retailer orders a seasonal product from a supplier and sells the product over a selling season. While the product demand is known to be a linear function of price, the supply yield is uncertain and is distributed according to a general discrete probability distribution. This paper presents a two-stage stochastic model for analyzing two pricing policies: No Responsive Pricing and Responsive Pricing. Under the No Responsive Pricing policy, the retailer would determine the order quantity and the retail price before the supply yield is realized. Under the Responsive Pricing policy, the retailer would specify the order quantity first and then decide on the retail price after observing the realized supply yield. Therefore, the Responsive Pricing policy enables the retailer to use pricing as a response mechanism for managing uncertain supply. Our analysis suggests that the retailer would always obtain a higher expected profit under the Responsive Pricing policy. In addition to examining the impact of yield distribution and system parameters on the optimal order quantities, retail prices, and profits under these two pricing policies, we analyze two issues arising from responsive pricing. The first issue deals with the case in which the retailer can place an emergency order with an alternative source after observing the realized yield, while the second issue deals with a situation in which the retailer has to allocate his order among multiple suppliers. 相似文献
