Second Dissociation Constants of 4-[N-morpholino]butanesulfonic Acid and N-[2-hydroxyethyl]piperazine-N′-4-butanesulfonic Acid from 5 to 55°C

The values of the second dissociation constant, pK ₂, for the dissociation of the NH⁺ charge center of the zwitterionic buffer compounds 4-(N-morpholino)butanesulfonic acid (MOBS), and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine-N-4-butanesulfonic acid (HEPBS) have been determined from 5 to 55°C, including, 37°C at intervals of 5°C. The electromotive-force (emf) measurements have been made utilizing hydrogen electrodes and silver–silver chloride electrodes. The value of pK ₂ for MOBS was found to be 7.702 ± 0.0005, and 8.284 ± 0.0004 for HEPBS, at 25°C, respectively. The related thermodynamic quantities, G ^o, H ^o, S ^o, and C _p ^o for the dissociation processes of MOBS and HEPBS have been derived from the temperature coefficients of pK ₂. Both the MOBS and HEPBS buffer materials are useful as primary pH standards for the control of pH 7.3 to 8.6 in the region close to that of physiological fluids.     

碳苷合成研究——3-β-D-吡喃木糖基-1,2,4-氧杂二唑类化合物的合成

本文研究了1-(2,3,4-三-O-苯甲酰-β-D-吡喃木糖基)-偕氨基肟与酸酐及酰氯的缩合反应,探讨了不同缩合剂、不同取代基对环合反应的影响,与酸酐反应可以一步完成,且收率较好;与酰氯反应分两步进行,第一步酰化,第二步脱水环合,芳环上取代基的电性效应,决定环合反应的难易,并证明了该环系的碳苷对酸、碱、热具有化学稳定性,本文合成了12个氧杂二唑类木糖碳苷及2个木糖基化的开环产物,通过光谱及元素分析,确定了它们的结构。     

On the existence of MOLS with equal-sized holes

We consider a pair of MOLS (mutually orthogonal Latin squares) having holes, corresponding to missing sub-MOLS, which are disjoint and spanning It is shown that a pair of MOLS withn holes of sizeh exist forh 2 if and only ifn 4 For SOLS (self-orthogonal Latin squares) with holes, we have the same result, with two possible exceptions SOLS with 7 or 13 holes of size 6     

Mixing properties of mim diodes in the infrared

Point contact MIM diodes of different materials have been tested as harmonic mixers at 29 THz and 88 THz. From the analysis of the I-V static characteristic quantitative informations have been obtained about the effectiveness of the diodes as high order mixers.     

Carbon nanotube assisted synthesis of CeO2 nanotubes

CeO₂ nanotubes have been synthesized facilely using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as templates by a liquid phase deposition method. The properties of the CeO₂ nanotubes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) as well as thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The obtained CeO₂ nanotubes with a polycrystalline face-centered cubic phase have a uniform diameter ranging from 40 to 50 nm. The CeO₂ nanotubes are composed of many tiny interconnected nanocrystallites of about 10 nm in size. The pretreatment of CNTs and calcination temperature were confirmed to be the crucial factors determining the formation of CeO₂ nanotubes. A possible formation mechanism has been suggested to explain the formation of CeO₂ nanotubes.     

TiO2光电催化水处理技术研究进展

TiO2光电催化水处理是一种电化学辅助的光催化反应技术，通过施加外部偏压减少光生电子和空穴的复合，从而提高其量子效率使有机污染物彻底矿化。本文综述了TiO2光电催化的机理、研究进展，反应器开发、设计、模型化等方面存在的问题及今后深入研究的方向。     

锂离子电池正极材料LiCoO2的微波合成及结构表征

改变原料的Li,Co摩尔配比，利用微波法制备出锂离子电池正极材料LiCoO2，同时考察了微波辐照时间对反应体系温度的影响，并采用电子显微镜、红外光谱和X射线衍射技术对产品的晶体结构进行分析。结果表明，Li,Co的摩尔比的1.05:1时，所合成的LiCoO2晶体纯度高，具有良好的层状结构。与传统合成法相比，微波合成法具有反应时间短，能耗低，合成效率高，颗粒均匀性良好等特点。     

Elliptic semiplanes and group divisible designs with orthogonal resolutions

In this paper we prove that there exists an elliptic semiplaneS(v, k, m) withk –m 2 if and only if there exists a group divisible design GDD _k ((k –m)(k – 1);k –m; 0, 1) withm pairwise orthogonal resolutions. As an example of this theorem, we construct an elliptic semiplaneW(45, 7, 3) and show thatW is isomorphic to the elliptic semiplaneS(45, 7, 3) given by R. D. Baker.     

Measures of inset information on the open domain — I: Inset entropies and information functions of all degrees

This is one in a series of papers studying measures of information in the so-called mixed theory of information (i.e. considering the events as well as their probabilities) on the open domain (i.e. without empty sets and zero probabilities). In this paper we find all-recursive, 3-semisymmetric inset entropies on the open domain. We do this by solving the fundamental equation of inset information of degree () on the open domain.Dedicated to Professor János Aczél on his 60th birthday.
