Hydrostaticity and hidden order: effects of experimental conditions on the temperature–pressure phase diagram of URu2Si2

The pressure dependence of the hidden order phase transition of URu₂Si₂ is shown to depend sensitively upon the quality of hydrostatic pressure conditions during electrical resistivity measurements. Hysteresis in pressure is demonstrated for two choices of pressure medium: the commonly used mixture of 1:1 Fluorinert FC70/FC77 and pure FC75. In contrast, no hysteresis is observed when the pressure medium is a 1:1 mixture of n-pentane/isoamyl alcohol, as it remains hydrostatic over the entire studied pressure range. Possible ramifications for the interpretation of the temperature–pressure phase diagram of URu₂Si₂ are discussed.     

Mn42Al50-xFe8+x合金的磁性和磁热效应

研究了Mn₄₂Al_50-xFe_8+x合金的结构、磁性和磁热效应. 通过成分调节, 居里温度T_C在室温附近一宽温区连续可调, 分别为270 K (Mn₄₂Al₄₂Fe₁₆), 341 K (Mn₄₂Al₄₀Fe₁₈)和370 K(Mn₄₂Al₃₈Fe₂₀). 磁化强度在相变温度处发生一陡降, 热磁曲线和等温磁化曲线均未观察到热和磁的滞后, 表明发生一可逆的二级相变. 在各自居里温度附近, 0-5 T的外磁场变化下磁熵变峰值分别为2.48, 2.52和2.40 J·kg^-1·K^-1. Mn_50-xAl_50-yFe_x+y合金的磁熵变峰值虽然与许多优良的磁制冷材料相比并不大, 但是制备该化合物的原材料价格非常低廉, 制备工艺简单, 加工成型也较容易, 化合物本身耐腐蚀性、延展性较好, 且在居里温度附近发生的是可逆的二级相变, 无晶格或结构的变化, 有利于制冷剂的多次循环使用. 关键词： 磁性 磁热效应 二级相变     

一种分数阶非线性系统稳定性判定定理的问题及分析

分数阶非线性系统稳定性理论的研究对于分数阶混沌系统同步控制的应用具有重要价值,将分数阶非线性系统稳定性判断转化为相应整数阶非线性系统稳定性判断的探讨很有意义.通过实例表明了:对于时变系数矩阵,如果整数阶系统稳定,其对应的阶次小于1的分数阶系统也稳定的判定定理是错误的,并分析了问题产生的原因.     

Worms,gaps, and hydras

We define a direct translation from finite rooted trees to finite natural functions which shows that the Worm Principle introduced by Lev Beklemishev is equivalent to a very slight variant of the well‐known Kirby‐Paris' Hydra Game. We further show that the elements in a reduction sequence of the Worm Principle determine a bad sequence in the well‐quasi‐ordering of finite sequences of natural numbers with respect to Friedman's gapembeddability. A characterization of gap‐embeddability in terms of provability logic due to Lev Beklemishev is also presented. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)     

The Order Parameter of the Chiral Potts Model

An outstanding problem in statistical mechanics is the order parameter of the chiral Potts model. An elegant conjecture for this was made in 1983. It has since been successfully tested against series expansions, but there is as yet no proof of the conjecture. Here we show that if one makes a certain analyticity assumption similar to that used to derive the free energy, then one can indeed verify the conjecture. The method is based on the ‘‘broken rapidity line’’ approach pioneered by Jimbo et al. (J. Phys. A 26:2199--2210 (1993).).     

Study on actuating voltage and switching time of a MOEMS optical switch

The micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems (MOEMS) optical switch with slant lower electrode and with torsion beam on silicon is designed and analyzed theoretically. Based on the torsion dynamics theory, the technique and relative formula are presented for the first time for analyzing the actuating voltage and the switch time. The optimized results of the structural parameters are compared between this technique and the finite element modeling (FEM). Finally, the difference between the experimental results and theoretical data is discussed.

Positivity for Perturbations of Polyharmonic Operators with Dirichlet Boundary Conditions in Two Dimensions

Higher order elliptic partial differential equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions in general do not satisfy a maximum principle. Polyharmonic operators on balls are an exception. Here it is shown that in IR² small perturbations of polyharmonic operators and of the domain preserve the maximum principle. Hence the Green function for the clamped plate equation on an ellipse with small eccentricity is positive.     

原子质心运动与暗态原子
