We have investigated effects of shear flow on the structure of lamellar phase in hepta(oxyethylene glycol)—n—hexadecylether—water system using small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) under shear flow at the shear rates (
) from 10–3 s–1 to 50 s–1. In the range
=10–2 ~1 s–1, significant changes have been observed in both intensity and position of the reflection peak. Small-angle X-ray scattering without shear has been also measured at various concentrations and temperatures. It has been suggested from these results that the shear flow causes contraction of lamellar domains and formation of a new domain composed of disrupted bilayers which grows rapidly with increasing shear rate and reconstructs original microstructures.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date. 相似文献

Four different 4-functionalised pyridine-based ligands were synthesized with aminomethyl, oxazolinyl, pyrazolyl and methylimidazolyl groups at the 2- and 6-position. The nitrogens of these groups together with the pyridine nitrogen can act as terdendate ligands for metal ions. Synthetic handles on the 4-position of the pyridine group were introduced via ether or ester bonds leading to monofunctional, bifunctional and amphiphilic ligands. 相似文献

Membrane emulsification (ME) is a relatively new technique for the highly controlled production of particulates. This review focuses on the recent developments in this area, ranging from the production of simple oil-in-water (O/W) or water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions to multiple emulsions of different types, solid-in-oil-in-water (S/O/W) dispersions, coherent solids (silica particles, solid lipid microspheres, solder metal powder) and structured solids (solid lipid microcarriers, gel microbeads, polymeric microspheres, core-shell microcapsules and hollow polymeric microparticles). Other emerging technologies that extend the capabilities into different membrane materials and operation methods (such as rotating membranes, repeated membrane extrusion of coarsely pre-emulsified feeds) are introduced. The results of experimental work carried out by cited researchers in the field together with those of the current authors are presented in a tabular form in a rigorous and systematic manner. These demonstrate a wide range of products that can be manufactured using different membrane approaches. Opportunities for creation of new and novel entities are highlighted for low throughput applications (medical diagnostics, healthcare) and for large-scale productions (consumer and personal products). 相似文献

A polymerizable surfactant, sodium dodecyl allyl sulfosuccinate (TREM LF-40; Henkel) and its nonpolymerizable counterpart were used in comparative studies of the emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate. The conversion-time behavior differed for the two surfactants; the TREM LF-40 showed a decrease in the polymerization rate with increasing concentration while its hydrogenated derivative showed the opposite behavior, the rate increasing with increasing surfactant. Particle size analysis revealed a decreasing particle size with increasing surfactant concentration for both series of reactions. An explanation for the seemingly ambiguous results obtained for the polymerizable surfactant was sought by examining the reactivity of its vinyl group in copolymerization with vinyl acetate and its allylic group in a chain transfer reaction. The results suggest that both the copolymerization and chain transfer reactions can lead to the observed reduction in polymerization rate with increasing TREM LF-40 concentration. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Cationic surfactants of different types were determined using a few potentiometric sensors based on ion‐pair complexes (dodecyldimethylbenzylammonium dodecylsulfate, dodecylmethylbenzylammonium dodecylbenzensulfonate, tetrahexadecylammonium dodecylsulfate and Hyamine (benzethonium dodecylsulfate)) as sensing materials. The response of the all‐solid state surfactant sensitive electrode based on a Teflonized graphite conducting substrate, coated with a PVC membrane containing sensing material, was investigated in the solutions of Hyamine and hexadecyltrimethylammonium ion in the concentration range from 1 μM to 10 mM. Potentiometric surfactant cation titration has been performed using sodium dodecylsulfate as titrant and an ion‐pair‐based surfactant sensitive electrode as a potentiometric indicator. Several commercial surfactant products have also been titrated and the results were compared with those obtained with two‐phase standard titration method. 相似文献

In this work, the effect of the addition of different concentrations of Tween-80 and three different zeolite-like products
on enzymatic hydrolysis, ethanol fermentation, and simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) process has been investigated.
The ability of these products to enhance the effectiveness of the SSF process to ethanol of steam-exploded poplar biomass
using the thermotolerant strainKluyveromyces marxianus EMS-26 has been tested.
Tween-80 (0.4 g/L) increased enzymatic hydrolysis yield by 20% when compared to results obtained in hydrolysis in absence
of the additive. Zeolite-like products (ZESEP-56 and ZECER-56) (2.5 g/L) improved rates of conversion and ethanol yields in
the fermentation of liquid fraction recovered from steam-exploded poplar. The periods required for the completion of fermentation
were approx 10 h in the presence of zeolite-like products and 24 h in the absence of additives. The probable mode of action
is through lowered levels of inhibitory substances because of adsorption by the additive. 相似文献

This paper will demonstrate a method for determining the micellar dissociation concentration (MDC) of polyoxyethylene mono n-decylether nonionic surfactants in water. Turbidity and surface tension measurements were applied to commercial samples without further purification. Complicated curves containing turbidity maxima and surface tension minima were obtained for some impure samples. It is difficult to determine the critical micellar concentration (CMC) for impure surfactants. Explanations are given for all curves obtained for pure and impure samples and the method of identifying the MDC values is illustrated. It is more practical for surfactant users to determine the MDC values in their own laboratory than to search for the CMC values in the literature when the surfactants arc impure. 相似文献

α-amylase (3.2.1.1) was solubilized in reverse micelles formed by Triton X-100 in xylene. Although the enzyme shows decrease
in specific activity in reverse micellar medium, it possesses significantly high stability in comparison to bulk aqueous medium.
Water/Surfactant ratio (Wo) was found to play a crucial role in both activity and stability of the enzyme. The optimum water/surfactant
ratio for the catalytic function of an enzyme in reverse micelles is 36, while the enzyme is stable at Wo 12 for a considerably
long period, and at Wo above 20 the enzyme gets inactivated within a day. Glycerol and CaCl2 improve the stability in both aqueous and reverse micellar medium. Thus the interior of the reverse micelles acts as a microreactor
