Analysis of nanoparticle size through a simple 2D plot is proposed in order to extract the correlation between length and width in a collection or a mixture of anisotropic particles. Compared to the usual statistics on the length associated with a second and independent statistical analysis of the width, this simple plot easily points out the various types of nanoparticles and their (an)isotropy. For each class of nano‐objects, the relationship between width and length (i.e., the strong or weak correlations between these two parameters) may suggest information concerning the nucleation/growth processes. It allows one to follow the effect on the shape and size distribution of physical or chemical processes such as simple ripening. Various electron microscopy pictures from the literature or from the authors′ own syntheses are used as examples to demonstrate the efficiency and simplicity of the proposed 2D plot combined with a multivariate analysis. 相似文献

Metabonomic studies involve the analysis of large numbers of samples to identify significant changes in the metabolic fingerprints of biological systems, possibly with sufficient statistical power for analysis. While procedures related to sample preparation and spectral data acquisition generally include the use of independent sample batches, these might be sources of systematic variation whose effects should be removed to focus on phenotyping the relevant biological variability. In this work, we describe a grouped-batch profile (GBP) calibration strategy to adjust nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) metabolomic data-sets for batch effects either introduced during NMR experiments or samples work-up. We show how this method can be applied to data calibration in the context of a large-scale NMR epidemiological study where quality control samples are available. We also illustrate the efficiency of a batch profile correction for NMR metabonomic investigation of cell extracts, where GBP can significantly improve the predictive power of multivariate statistical models for discriminant analysis of the cell infection status. The syntheses and properties of expanded 4-tert-butyl-mercaptocalix[4]arenes, in which the methylene linkers are replaced by −CH2NRCH2− or −CH2NRCH2− and −CH2NRCH2CH2CH2NRCH2− units, are described. The new macrocycles were obtained in a step-wise manner, utilizing fully protected, i. e. S-alkylated, derivatives of the oxidation-sensitive thiophenols in the cyclisation steps. Reductive cleavage of the macrobicyclic or macrotricyclic intermediates ( 6 , 7 , 11 ) afforded the free thiophenols (H4 8 , H4 9 , and H4 12 ) in preparative yields as their hydrochloride salts. The protected proligands can exist in two conformations, resembling the “cone” and “1,3-alternate” conformations found for the parent calix[4]arenes. The free macrocycles do not show conformational isomerism, but are readily oxidized forming intramolecular disulfide linkages. Preliminary complexation experiments show that these expanded mercaptocalixarenes can serve as supporting ligands for tetranuclear thiolato clusters. 相似文献

While diamond electrodes have been commonly used to generate ?OH to treat a variety of persistent water and wastewater micropollutants, mass transfer limitations and the non-selective, short-lived nature of the ?OH restrict the degradation to the solution at, or near, the electrode surface. However, diamond electrodes can generate oxidizing species that facilitate micropollutant degradation in the bulk water solution. These include persulfate, sulfate radicals, peroxodiphosphate, ferrate, permanganate, reactive chlorine species, hydrogen peroxide, and ozone, which have been reported during electrochemical treatment of water with diamond electrodes. Although still restricted to specialized applications, recent studies, summarized in this review, have proven the electrogeneration of these additional oxidant species to be effective. They have shown the adaptability and potential of diamond electrode-based water treatment to mitigate the presence of micropollutants in water. 相似文献

The effect of mating delay on the ovary structure of virgin queens of Melipona quadrifasciata anthidioides (Hymenoptera: Apidae) was investigated. Virgin queens 15, 20, 25 and 30 days old were dissected to analyze their degree of ovary degeneration. To verify whether the degeneration would cause permanent sterility, virgin queens of the same ages (15, 20, 25 and 30 days) were mated and accompanied for at least 14 days to verify whether there was physogastry and then dissected. The ovaries were analyzed by histology, histochemical tests and TUNEL to verify programmed cell death. The results showed that mating delay interrupted oogenesis preventing vitellogenesis. Mating delay results in ovary degeneration which increased with queen age. However, even when there was ovariole degeneration, 25-day-old virgin queens after mating presented normal ovariole activation. 相似文献

The tightness of these Teflon Magnetic Stirring Capsules (TMSC) is ensured by the magnetic force and release of the reagent inside the solution is triggered by adjusting the stirring rate so that the centrifuge force exceeds the magnetic force.
