A 21.7-km nonzero dispersion-shifted fiber was used to obtain 4x multiplication of the repetition rate of a 20-GHz train of 4.2-ps optical pulses through the temporal Talbot effect. Raman compression in the same fiber shortened and developed the pulses into 2.0-ps solitons and resulted in a lower duty cycle. It is shown that the linear Talbot effect and nonlinear Raman compression occurred in different sections of the fiber, the lengths of which could be varied through adjustments in the input pulse power. 相似文献

We generated 0.66 microm picosecond pulses by second-harmonic generation of the Raman amplified output of a 1.3 microm actively mode-locked fiber ring laser in a periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate (PPKTP) waveguide. The ring laser produced 9 ps pulses at a 20 GHz repetition frequency, was tunable over 1284-1330 nm, and was based on a semiconductor optical amplifier and a Mach-Zehnder amplitude modulator. The Raman amplifier served both to amplify the ring laser and to compress the pulses as solitons. The spectral flexibility of the amplifiers and the modulator should enable similar configurations to be made at other wavelengths and facilitate efficient frequency doubling in waveguides to other visible wavelengths. 相似文献

A family of compact pulsed fiber lasers is described that employs broadband, wavelength-flexible Raman scattering in passively mode-locked figure-of-eight fiber laser geometries. Specifically, sources at 1.57, 1.33, and 1.41 microm with respective soliton durations of 440, 500, and 860 fs are reported. We present a continuous-wave-pumped fiber optical parametric amplifier, operating near 1539 nm in conventional dispersion-shifted fiber, with maximum on-off gain and wavelength-conversion efficiency of 13.7 and 13.1 dB, respectively. Sparse asymptotic minimum variance based bearing estimation algorithm for a single vector hydrophone
For underwater target detection using a single vector hydrophone, sparse asymptotic minimum variance(SAMV) method is used to estimate the target bearing. The SAMV discretizes the entire scanning space and the target bearing is located at the position of the discrete direction. The SAMV algorithm utilizes the sparsity of the spatial signal to improve the estimation performance of the target bearing. Background noise level(BNL) of the bearing estimation of SAMV algorithm is lower than those of the conventional beam forming(CBF)method and minimum variance distortionless response(MVDR) method for different signal noise ratios(SNRs). When the SNR is higher than 0 d B, the direction-finding error of this algorithm is less than 2°. Moreover, the SAMV algorithm has a better dimensional orientation resolution capability. The experimental results show that the SAMV algorithm gives a bearing and time recording map with a lower BNL, which effectively verifies the effectiveness of SAMV algorithm in terms of underwater target detection. 相似文献
