End and central plasmon resonances in linear atomic chains

The existence and nature of end and central plasmon resonances in a linear atomic chain, the 1D analog to surface and bulk plasmons in 2D metals, has been predicted by ab initio time-dependent density functional theory. Length dependence of the absorption spectra shows the emergence and development of collectivity of these resonances. It converges to a single resonance in the longitudinal mode, and two transverse resonances, which are localized at the ends and center of the atom chains. These collective modes bridge the gaps, in concept and scale, between the collective excitation of atomic physics and nanoplasmonics. It also outlines a route to atomic-scale engineering of collective excitations.

Hydroxyapatite additive influenced the bioactivity of bioactive nano-titania ceramics and new bone-forming capacity

Carbon nanostructures and nanocomposites display versatile allotropic morphologies, physico-chemical properties and have a wide range of applications in mechanics, electronics, biotechnology, structural material, chemical processing, and energy management. In this study we report the synthesis, characterization, and biotechnological application of cobalt magnetic nanoparticles, with diameter approximately 15?C40?nm, embedded in carbon structure (Co/C-MN). A single-step chemical process was used in the synthesis of the Co/C-MN. The Co/C-MN has presented superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature an essential property for immunoseparation assays carried out here. To stimulate interactions between proteins and Co/C-MN, this nanocomposite was functionalized with acrylic acid (AA). We have showed the bonding of different proteins onto Co/C-AA surface using immunofluorescence assay. A Co/C-AA coated with monoclonal antibody anti-pathogenic Leptospira spp. was able to capture leptospires, suggesting that it could be useful in immunoseparation assays.     

Quantum mechanical study of the coupling of plasmon excitations to atomic-scale electron transport

The coupling of optical excitation and electron transport through a sodium atom in a plasmonic dimer junction is investigated using time-dependent density functional theory. The optical absorption and dynamic conductance is determined as a function of gap size. Surface plasmons are found to couple to atomic-scale transport through several different channels including dipolar, multipolar, and charge transfer plasmon modes. These findings provide insight into subnanoscale couplings of plasmons and atoms, a subject of general interest in plasmonics and molecular electronics.     

Global Asymptotic Behavior of a Predator-Prey Diffusion System with Beddington-DeAngelis Function Response

In this paper, we study a class of reaction-diffusion systems with Beddington- DeAngelis function response. The global asymptotic convergence is established by using the comparison principle and the method of monotone iterations, which is via successive improvement of upper-lower solutions function.     

Excitation of frustrated translation and nonadiabatic adatom hopping induced by inelastic tunneling

The dynamics of lateral manipulation for cobalt/Cu(111) has been investigated combining the model of vibrational heating and first-principles density functional calculations. The frustrated translational mode responsible for lateral excitation is identified as a vibrational resonance involving a concerted motion between the adatom and surface phonons. The calculated frequency shows good agreement with the onset energy for adatom hopping induced by inelastic tunneling. Simulation of the power law, compared with experiment, suggests that the atom hopping overcomes a nonadiabatic barrier due to the nonequilibrium local heating of the translational mode.

本文首次研究了掺杂Ｔｍ（０．１）Ｙｂ（１０．９）氟氧化物玻璃陶次居９６６ｎｍ半导体激光激发下的直接上转换敏化发光现象。测量艰现存在很强的＾１Ｇ４→＾３Ｈ６的４７７ｎｍ的三光子和＾３Ｆ４→＾３Ｈ６的７９９．５ｎｍ双光子上转换荧光以及较弱的＾１Ｄ２→＾３Ｈ６的３６１ｎｍ,＾１Ｄ２→＾３Ｈ４的４４９．５ｎｍ,＾１Ｇ４→＾３Ｆ４的６４７．０ｎｍ和＾３Ｆ３→＾３Ｈ６的多个上转换发光。     

偶数元最优代数免疫布尔函数的一种构造方法

利用布尔函数的汉明重量与代数次数之间的关系,得到布尔函数不存在低次零化子的一个充分条件.通过构造适当的仿射子空间,保证布尔函数不存在低次零化子,得到偶数元最优代数免疫布尔函数的一种构造方法,并对此类函数进行了计数.     

Global Solutions of Nonlinear Wave Equations in Time Dependent Inhomogeneous Media

We consider the problem of small data global existence for a class of semilinear wave equations with null condition on a Lorentzian background ${(\mathbb{R}^{3 + 1}, g)}$ with a time dependent metric g coinciding with the Minkowski metric outside the cylinder ${\{(t, x) || x | \leq R\}}$ . We show that the small data global existence result can be reduced to two integrated local energy estimates and demonstrate that these estimates work in the particular case when g is merely C ¹ close to the Minkowski metric. One of the novel aspects of this work is that it applies to equations on backgrounds which do not settle to any particular stationary metric.
