Influence of the way of preparing vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) precursor and introducing multi-additives on the reaction performance

Spatial patterns of the uncatalyzed bromate – catechol – sulfuric acid system in a thin fluid layer were observed. A mixture of dots, strips and circles was formed by interaction of chemical reaction, diffusion and hydrodynamic instabilities.     

Poly(L‐lactide) crystallization induced by multiwall carbon nanotubes at very low loading

Poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA)/multiwall carbon nanotube (MWNT) composites were prepared by the solvent‐ultrasonic‐casting method. Only very low concentrations of MWNTs (<0.08 wt %) were added in the composites. Isothermal and nonisothermal crystalline measurements were carried out on PLLA/MWNT composites to investigate the effect of MWNTs on PLLA crystalline behavior. DSC results showed that the incorporation of MWNTs significantly shortened the crystalline induction time and increased the final crystallinity of the composite, which indicated MWNTs have a strong nucleation effect on PLLA even at very low concentrations. The nonisothermal crystallization measurements showed that the MWNTs greatly speed up crystallization during cooling. From isothermal crystallization results, both PLLA and PLLA/MWNT composites samples closely followed a relationship based on Lauritzen‐Hoffman theory, with the regime II to III transition shifting to lower temperature with increasing MWNT concentration. A double melting peak appeared in both nonisothermal and isothermal measurements. The conditions under which it appeared were found to closely depend on the regime II‐III transition temperature obtained from Lauritzen‐Hoffman theory. From the magnitude and position of melting peaks, it is proposed that the double melting peak is caused by a disorder‐order crystal phase transition. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Direct catalytic oxidation of cyclohexene to 1, 2-cyclohexanediol by aqueous hydrogen peroxide under solvent-free condition

Cyclohexene can be oxidized directly to 1, 2-cyclohexanediol with aqueous hydrogen peroxide under solvent-free condition using a heteropolyphosphatotungstate catalyst. And an isolated yield of 54% was obtained in this catalytic system.     

Blue electroluminescence from 3,6‐silafluorene‐based copolymers

Poly(3,6‐silafluorene) is a typical wide band‐gap conjugated polymer with ultraviolet light emission. The blue electroluminescence from the 3,6‐silafluorene‐based copolymers via intrachain energy transfer was reported in this study. The monomer containing vinylene, anthracene, and tri‐arylamine moieties incorporated into the poly(3,6‐silafluorene) backbone can form efficient deep‐blue emitting copolymers with EL efficiency of 1.1–1.9%. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Almost periodic solution for n-species Lotka–Volterra competitive system with delay and feedback controls

In this paper, a n-species Lotka–Volterra competition system with delay and feedback controls is investigated. By means of the theory of comparison theorem and suitable Lyapunov functional, some sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of almost positive periodic solutions of this system is obtained.     

Couplings of pions with excited heavy mesons from light-cone QCD sum rules in the leading order of HQET

The couplings of pions with lowest three doublets , and of heavy mesons are studied with light-cone QCD sum rules in the leading order of heavy quark effective theory. Pico-second photoelectric characteristic in manganite oxide La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 films

Ultrafast photoelectric characteristic has been observed in La_0.67Ca_0.33MnO₃ films on tilted SrTiO₃ substrates. A pico-second (ps) open-circuit photovoltage of the perovskite manganese oxide films has been obtained when the films were irradiated by a 1.064μm laser pulse of 25 ps duration. The rise time and full width at half-maximum of the photovoltage pulse are ～300 ps and ～700 ps, respectively. The photovoltaic sensitivity was as large as ～500 mV/mJ.
