Design and Fabrication of 1.06 μm Resonant-Cavity Enhanced Reflective Modulator with GaInAs/GaAs Quantum Wells

A resonant-cavity enhanced reflective optical modulator is designed and fabricated, with three groups of three highly strained InGaAs/GaAs quantum wells in the cavity, for low voltage and high contrast ratio operation. The quantum wells are positioned in antinodes of the optical standing wave. The modulator is grown in a single growth step in an molecular beam epitaxy system, using GaAs/AlAs distributed Bragg reflectors as both the top and bottom mirrors. Results show that the reflection device has a modulation extinction of 3 dB at -4.5 V bias.     

Crosslinked epoxy materials exhibiting thermal remendablility and removability from multifunctional maleimide and furan compounds

Crosslinked polymeric materials, which exhibit thermal remendability and removability through Diels–Alder (DA) and retro‐DA reactions, were obtained from using multifunctional maleimide and furan compounds as monomers. The synthesized monomers possess low melting points and good solubility in organo solvents to show excellent processing properties. The performance of DA and retro‐DA reactions were demonstrated with DSC and FTIR measurements. High performance of thermal remendablility and removability of the crosslinked materials were observed with SEM and solvent tests. Vinyl copolymers containing pendant 1,4‐distyrylbenzene and 1,3,4‐oxadiazole chromophores: Preparation and optoelectronic properties

We prepared two vinyl copolymers P1 and P2 containing pendant distyrylbenzene and aromatic 1,3,4‐oxadiazole derivatives, respectively, from their precursor poly(styrene‐ran‐4‐vinylbenzyl chloride) (M_w = 11,400, PDI = 1.18), which had been prepared by the controlled radical polymerization (RAFT). Two main chain polymers containing similar isolated distyrylbenzene ( P3) and aromatic 1,3,4‐oxadiazole ( P4 ) chromophores were also synthesized for comparative study. The resulted copolymers ( P1 – P4 ) are soluble in common organic solvents and are basically amorphous materials with 5% weight‐loss temperature higher than 360 °C. The PL spectral results reveal that the architecture of P1 prevents the formation of inter‐ or intramolecular interaction. The HOMO and LUMO levels of P2 , estimated from cyclic voltammetric data, are ?5.96 and ?3.81 eV, respectively, which are much lower than those of P1 (?5.12 and ?3.11 eV). The emission of blend from P1 and P2 are contributed mainly from distyrylbenzene fluorophore (～450 nm) owing to efficient energy transfer. Moreover, the blend exhibits three kinds of redox behavior depending on their weight ratios. The luminance and current efficiency of the EL device lpar;ITO/PEDOT/ MEH ‐ PPV + P2 /Al) are 503 cd/m² and 0.11 cd/A, which can be improved to 1285 cd/m² and 0.44 cd/A, respectively, as the weight ratio of P2 increases from 0 to 20%. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fluorometric study on the interaction between lomefloxacin and bovine lactoferrin.

The binding of lomefloxacin to bovine lactoferrin (BLf) in a dilute aqueous solution was studied using fluorescence spectra. The binding constant (K) and the number of binding sites (n) were obtained by a fluorescence quenching method. The binding distance (r) and energy-transfer efficiency (E) between lomefloxacin and bovine lactoferrin were also obtained according to the mechanism of Fo?rster-type dipole-dipole nonradiative energy-transfer. The effect of lomefloxacin on the conformation of bovine lactoferrin was also analyzed by synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy. The interaction between lomefloxacin and bovine lactoferrin is strong. Lomefloxacin can affect the conformation of bovine lactoferrin to some degree.     

AN IMPROVED SEARCH-EXTENTION METHOD FOR SOLVING SEMILINEAR PDES

This article will combine the finite element method, the interpolated coefftcient finite element method, the eigenfunction expansion method, and the search-extension method to obtain the multiple solutions for semilinear elliptic equations. This strategy not only grently reduces the expensive computation, but also is successfully implemented to obtain multiple solutions for a class of semilinear elliptic boundary value problems with non-odd nonlinearity on some convex or nonconvex domains. Numerical solutions illustrated by their graphics for visualization will show the efficiency of the approach.

聚合物微腔的研制及其特性分析

采用ＢＭＰＰＶ：ＰＶＫ的混合物作国源介质，将其按一定比例溶于氯仿中，并旋涂在具有９９．５％的反射率的ＤＢＲ上，其上蒸发３００ｎｍ的银膜，形成了面发射型微腔结构，其中ＤＢＲ在入射腔面，银膜为反射腔面，在激发波长３３７．１ｎｍ，频率２０Ｈｚ脉宽１０ｎｓ的氮分子激光器泵浦下，光谱明显等窄化，出现４６０ｎｍ和５３０ｎｍ两个比较强的发光峰，主峰国４６０ｎｍ半宽度为７ｎｍ。     

分布耦合系数对线性啁啾光栅色散的影响

本文从光栅反向耦合波方程出发,经相位共轭变换用Runge-Kuta-Gil方法对其数值求解。针对线性啁啾光栅耦合系数变化服从不同的分布,分析了各种分布对光栅反射谱特性和色散特性的影响。     

THE RING OPENING REACTION OF AN EPOXY COMPOUND ON THE TOP OF CHEMISORBED CYSTAMINE STUDIED BY THE SERS TECHNIQUE

Metal foils for Raman scattering were prepared by HNO_3 etching method. These foils werefound to exhibit a strong SERS effect and excellent thermal stability. SERS spectra of cystaminehave been taken to illustrate the usefulness of this sample preparation method in the studies ofchemisorption. The ring opening reactions of an epoxy compound have been observed on the topof chemisorbed cystamine on silver foils.
