Bladder cancer is the first cancer for which PDT was clinically approved in 1993. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful due to side effects like bladder contraction. Here, we summarized the recent progress of PDT for bladder cancers, focusing on photosensitizers and formulations. General strategies to minimize side effects are intravesical administration of photosensitizers, use of targeting strategies for photosensitizers and better control of light. Non-muscle invasive bladder cancers are more suitable for PDT than muscle invasive and metastatic bladder cancers. In 2010, the FDA approved blue light cystoscopy, using PpIX fluorescence, for photodynamic diagnosis of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. PpIX produced from HAL was also used in PDT but was not successful due to low therapeutic efficacy. To enhance the efficacy of PpIX-PDT, we have been working on combining it with singlet oxygen-activatable prodrugs. The use of these prodrugs increases the therapeutic efficacy of the PpIX-PDT. It also improves tumor selectivity of the prodrugs due to the preferential formation of PpIX in cancer cells resulting in decreased off-target toxicity. Future challenges include improving prodrugs and light delivery across the bladder barrier to deeper tumor tissue and generating an effective therapeutic response in an In vivo setting without causing collateral damage to bladder function.  相似文献

In this paper, we report a new liquid–liquid microextraction procedure called “nanoparticles decorated with a Schiff's base for the microextraction of Cd, Pb, Ni, and Co in environmental samples”. The developed procedure was utilized for the extraction of Cd, Pb, Ni, and Co in environmental samples. The Schiff's base was formed by reacting salicylaldehyde with 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane‐functionalized iron oxide nanoparticles. Analyte extraction was conducted in a capillary column system loaded with modified nanoparticles and triton X‐114 as dispersion medium. 1‐Butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate was employed as an extraction solvent. Acidified methanol in ultrasonic bath was used as desorption solvent, and elemental determination was carried out with flame atomic absorption spectrometer. Characterization of modified nanoparticles was performed with FTIR spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Solution pH, nanoparticles amount, dispersant concentration, ionic liquid, and temperature were optimized for the extraction. Detection limits obtained for Cd, Pb, Ni, and Co were 0.183, 0.201, 0.241, and 0.192 μg L?1, respectively, and enhancement factors were 79.1, 86.4, 95.7, and 82.0, respectively. The reproducibility of the developed procedure was in the range of 3.98–5.10%. Validation was checked by applying the developed procedure on certified reference water samples. The microextraction based on nanoparticles decorated with Schiff's base was successfully applied for the extraction of Cd, Pb, Ni, and Co in real environmental water samples.  相似文献

A simple and fast procedure is proposed for the extraction of iron (Fe), copper (Cu), and nickel (Ni) in 16 varieties of sunflower seed oil samples using an ultrasonic bath. The experimental parameters of the ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) method were optimized to improve the sensitivity and detect the metals at trace levels in minimum time. Conventional wet acid digestion method was used for comparative purposes. The optimum recovery of all 3 metals was obtained by UAE for 7 min, while the separation of aqueous and organic phases after extraction using centrifugation (UAE-2) required 3 min, as compared to the conventional equilibration method (UAE-1) that required 90 min. The respective recoveries of Cu, Fe, and Ni obtained with UAE-2 were in the range of 95.8-97.5, 93.5-98.3, and 95.6-98.2%, respectively, for different varieties of sunflower oil samples. Accuracy was determined by the standard addition method. Under the optimum operating conditions, the limits of detection obtained from the standard addition curves were 21.7, 20.4, and 35.6 ng/mL for Fe, Cu, and Ni, respectively. The fact that all varieties of sunflower oil contain significant amounts of Fe, Cu, and Ni indicates the deterioration of sunflower oil quality immediately after extraction from seeds, which poses a threat to oil quality and human health.  相似文献

Brillouin amplification and lasing are demonstrated in a single-mode As2Se3 chalcogenide fiber. A Brillouin gain of 42 dB was measured in a 4.9 m long fiber for a pump power of 68 mW at a 1.56 mum wavelength. In addition, a compact As2Se3 fiber-based Brillouin laser with a threshold power of 35 mW and a slope efficiency of 38% for nonresonant pumping is demonstrated.  相似文献

A sample preparation method based on ultrasound-assisted pseudo-digestion of Al from Juices and soft drink samples under ultrasonic effect has been described. A Plackett-Burman experimental design was used as a multivariate strategy for the evaluation of the effects of varying several variables at once. The effects of five different variables preintensification time (without ultrasonic stirring), intensification time in ultrasonic bath (UB), temperature of UB, two acid mixtures (HNO(3)-H(2)SO(4)-H(2)O(2) and HNO(3)-H(2)O(2)), on the recovery of Al have been investigated. From these studies, certain variable showed up as significant, and they were optimized by a using 2(3)+star central composite design, which involved 16 experiments. The best conditions for pseudo-digestion were as follows: a preintensification time 10min, intensification time 20min, volume of acid mixtures 3.0ml and temperature of ultrasonic bath 80 degrees C. A conventional acid digestion on electric hot plate was used to obtain total Al for comparative purpose. Final solutions obtained from both methods, were analysed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. Analytical results for the Al by ultrasound-assisted pseudo-digestion, and conventional wet digestion methods showed a good agreement, thus indicating the possibility of using ultrasonic-assisted digestion sample preparation instead of intensive treatments inherent with the acid digestion methods on electric hot plate. The procedure proposed allowed the determination of Al with detection limit (3alpha/s) 10mugl(-1).  相似文献

Four new coordination polymers of cadmium(II) with hexamethylenetetramine (htm) have been synthesized and characterized by routine physicochemical techniques as well as by X-ray single crystal structure analysis. They are [CdBr(htm)(SCN)(H2O)2·CH3OH]n (1), [CdI(htm)(SCN)(H2O)2·0.5(CH3OH)]n (2), [Cd2(htm)3(SCN)4(H2O)]n·nH2O (3) and [Cd3Br6(htm)2(H2O)5·(htm)(H2O)6]n (4). Complexes 1, 2 and 3 exhibit 1D polymeric structure and complex 4 shows a 2D undulated layered arrangement, containing Cd6(htm)6 hexagonal units as building block, which extended to a 3D supramolecular architecture through hydrogen bonding. Thorough thermal investigation suggest that as far as the thermal stability of Cd(II)-htm bond is concerned it attains the maximum in complex 1 and minimum in complex 4. In case of complex 3 the thermal study inferred that CdS end product was obtained at ∼730 °C, whereas in case of other complexes the thermally stable end product remained unidentified. Solid state fluorescence study shows that all the complexes are luminescent at room temperature except complex 3.  相似文献

A series of Ni1−xCdxFe2O4 (0.0≤x≤0.8) were prepared by conventional double sintering ceramic method and sintered at 1200 °C for 6 h. X-ray diffraction results confirmed the single-phase spinel structures of all the samples. The Curie temperature decreases linearly with increasing Cd content, which is explained due to the weakening of the A–B exchange interaction. The sample with x=0.7 shows re-entrant type of spin glass phase transitions. The magnetic moment and saturation magnetization at 20 K are found to increase with Cd content up to x=0.5 and then tends to decrease for x>0.5. The increase in magnetic moment with cadmium is attributed to Neel's two sublattice (A- and B-sublattice) collinear models according to which the magnetic moment is the vector sum of the lattice magnetic moment. The decrease in magnetization for x>0.5 obeys the Yafet–Kittel (Y–K) model. The increase in Y–K angles for x>0.3 indicates the increased tendency for triangular spin arrangements on B-sites. This suggests the existence of a canted spin structure in the ferrite system with higher content of Cd.  相似文献

Between 293.2 and 313.2 K and at 0.1 MPa, the solubility of the weak base, cinnarizine (CNZ) (3), in various {Transcutol-P (TP) (1) + water (2)} combinations is reported. The Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) of CNZ and various {(TP) (1) + water (2)} mixtures free of CNZ were also predicted using HSPiP software. Five distinct cosolvency-based mathematical models were used to link the experimentally determined solubility data of CNZ. The solubility of CNZ in mole fraction was increased with elevated temperature and TP mass fraction in {(TP) (1) + water (2)} combinations. The maximum solubility of CNZ in mole fraction was achieved in neat TP (5.83 × 10−2 at 313.2 K) followed by the minimum in neat water (3.91 × 10−8 at 293.2 K). The values of mean percent deviation (MPD) were estimated as 2.27%, 5.15%, 27.76%, 1.24% and 1.52% for the “Apelblat, van’t Hoff, Yalkowsky–Roseman, Jouyban–Acree, and Jouyban–Acree–van’t Hoff models”, respectively, indicating good correlations. The HSP value of CNZ was closed with that of neat TP, suggesting the maximum solubilization of CNZ in TP compared with neat water and other aqueous mixtures of TP and water. The outcomes of the apparent thermodynamic analysis revealed that CNZ dissolution was endothermic and entropy-driven in all of the {(TP) (1) + water (2)} systems investigated. For {(TP) (1) + water (2)} mixtures, the enthalpy-driven mechanism was determined to be the driven mechanism for CNZ solvation. TP has great potential for solubilizing the weak base, CNZ, in water, as demonstrated by these results.  相似文献
