A gel emulsion with high internal oil phase volume fraction was formed via an inversion process induced by a water–oil ratio change. The process involved the formation of intermediate multiple emulsions prior to inversion. The multiple emulsions contain a liquid crystal formed by the surfactant with water; this was both predicted by the equilibrium phase diagram as well as observed using polarization microscopy. These multiple emulsions were more stable compared to alternative multiple emulsions prepared in the same way with a surfactant that does not form liquid crystals. While the formation of a stable intermediate multiple emulsion may not be a necessary condition for the inversion to occur, the transitional presence of a liquid crystal proved to be a significant factor in the stabilization of the intermediate multiple emulsions. The resulting gel emulsion contained a small fraction of the liquid crystal according to the phase diagram, and it exhibited excellent stability.  相似文献

Herein we describe a multiple C−H functionalization reaction of carbazole heterocycles with diazoalkanes. We show that gold catalysts play a distinct role in enabling a multiple C−H functionalization reaction to introduce up to six carbene fragments onto molecules containing multiple carbazole units or to link multiple carbazole units into a single molecule. A one-pot stepwise approach enables the introduction of two different carbene fragments to allow orthogonal deprotection and straightforward derivatization.  相似文献

Multiple emulsions are of growing interest as potential delivery vehicles for active constituents. The objective of this study was to encapsulate a water-soluble substance as a functional ingredient in the water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) multiple emulsions with nano droplets, and the resultant characterizations have been determined. Emulsions have been generated using ultrasonic with different time, the prepared multiple emulsions have been characterized with microscopic analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, encapsulation efficiency, and rheology. Moreover, droplet size and conductivity analysis have been determined to measure stability. Results showed that multiple structures exist after ultrasonic. Furthermore, these nano multiple emulsions presented encapsulation efficiencies up to 60%, while oil droplets size was 320 nm. Rheology analysis showed dissimilar features of distinct particle size, while droplet size and conductivity analysis indicated a similar trend with the passage time. As a conclusion of this study, the results were encouraging towards development of a nano multiple emulsion encapsulate water-soluble active ingredient for cosmetics.  相似文献

Multiple emulsions are complex polydispersed systems in which both oil-in-water (O/W) and water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion exists simultaneously. They are often prepared accroding to a two-step process and commonly stabilized using a combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfactants. Recently, some reports have shown that multiple emulsions can also be produced through one-step method with simultaneous occurrence of catastrophic and transitional phase inversions. However, these reported multiple emulsions need surfactant blends and are usually described as transitory or temporary systems. Herein, we report a one-step phase inversion process to produce water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) multiple emulsions stabilized solely by a synthetic diblock copolymer. Unlike the use of small molecule surfactant combinations, block copolymer stabilized multiple emulsions are remarkably stable and show the ability to separately encapsulate both polar and nonpolar cargos. The importance of the conformation of the copolymer surfactant at the interfaces with regards to the stability of the multiple emulsions using the one-step method is discussed.  相似文献

In the past decade, multiple catalytic C?H bond functionalization has been successfully applied in natural product synthesis as a strategy to reduce the number of steps, increase overall yield and employ more easily available starting materials. This minireview presents selected examples making use of multiple C?H bond functionalization in conceptually different ways. First, linear syntheses are discussed, wherein multiple C?H functionalization is employed either from simple (hetero)cyclic cores, at a late stage, or to build polycyclic systems. Second, the use of multiple C?H functionalization as a strategic tool in convergent synthesis to access and couple complex fragments is discussed. Information on the scalability of the employed methods is provided when available. The presented cases indicate that multiple C?H functionalization strategies should play a great role to shape the future synthesis of functional complex molecules with improved sustainability.  相似文献

Binding of multiple proteins to DNA is crucial in many regulatory cellular processes. The kinetics of assembly and disassembly of DNA–multiple protein complexes is very difficult to study in detail due to the lack of suitable experimental approaches. A separation-based approach has been recently proposed to resolve disassembly kinetics of such complexes. While conceptually simple, the separation-based approach generates experimental data with very complex patterns. The analysis of these patterns is a challenging problem on its own. Here we report on a mathematical approach that can extract a solution for the experimental data obtained in separation-based analysis of sequential dissociation of a DNA complex with multiple proteins. This case describes the dissociation of proteins one-by-one from the complex. Generally speaking, a mathematical solution of such problems requires calculations of multiple integrals. Our approach reduces this procedure to taking double integrals and constructing their superposition. We tested this approach with the experimental data obtained for three-step sequential dissociation of complexes of DNA with two protein copies.  相似文献

Post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins are essential for proper function, as they regulate many aspects of a protein's activity and interaction with substrates. When analyzing modified peptides derived from such proteins by mass spectrometry, these modifications can dissociate, producing either a marker ion or neutral loss characteristic of the modification, which have conventionally been monitored with a precursor ion scan or neutral loss scan, respectively. Although powerful, both precursor ion scans and neutral loss scans can only screen for one particular modification at a time. This has led to the development of multiple neutral loss monitoring (MNM) for neutral losses and multiple precursor ion monitoring (MPM) for marker ions on electrospray instruments. Here, we report their implementation on a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) instrument as well as the inception of a novel scan strategy termed targeted multiple precursor ion monitoring (tMPM). This latter scan strategy has been developed on a MALDI tandem time-of-flight (TOF/TOF) mass spectrometer for the identification of multiple PTMs via their associated marker ions by manipulating certain components of the instrument, notably the timed ion selector and the delayed extraction source 2. Targeted MPM combined with a second approach, multiple neutral loss monitoring (MNM), is shown to be a successful approach in the identification of PTMs, identifying multiple modified peptides in a complex sample matrix.  相似文献

Three types of multiple emulsions were prepared with lecithin. The morphology, stability, and rheological properties of the three types of W/O/W multiple emulsions were evaluated. The formulation factors, including salts and aliphatic alcohol, were further examined. The three types of multiple emulsions were formed by different emulsifiers. An excellent multiple emulsion occurred with 2?wt% lecithin concentration, stabilized by 0.05?wt% NaCl. All multiple emulsions showed shear-thinning behavior, i.e., the apparent viscosity decreased with the increase of the shear rate. With the high concentration of lecithin, the multiple emulsions exhibited the highest viscosity at low shear rate and had higher storage modulus (G′) and the loss modulus (G″). This study was conducted to reveal that different types of multiple emulsions can be formed with lecithin, and that the stability and rheological properties were different with different types of multiple emulsions.  相似文献

建立了简化的W/O/W(水/油/水)多重乳液乳珠模型——统计平均半径模型, 预测出当W/O/W多重乳液内水相水滴之间以及内外水相之间均达到水传递平衡时的内外水相中盐的浓度, 从而实现对水传递的控制, 以维持W/O/W多重乳液的稳定. 按理论预测制备出了不同稳定态的W/O/W多重乳液, 利用差分扫描量热仪(DSC)检测了多重乳液中水的传递过程, 确定体系在实验状态下的稳定程度, 实验结果与理论预测基本吻合.  相似文献

Chemically highly stable MOFs incorporating multiple functionalities are of great interest for applications under harsh environments. Herein, we presented a facile one‐pot synthetic strategy to incorporate multiple functionalities into stable Zr‐MOFs from mixed ligands of different geometry and connectivity. Via our strategy, tetratopic tetrakis(4‐carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (TCPP) ligands were successfully integrated into UiO‐66 while maintaining the crystal structure, morphology, and ultrahigh chemical stability of UiO‐66. The amount of incorporated TCPP is controllable. Through various combinations of BDC derivatives and TCPP, 49 MOFs with multiple functionalities were obtained. Among them, MOFs modified with FeTCPPCl were demonstrated to be catalytically active for the oxidation of ABTS. We anticipate our strategy to provide a facile route to introduce multiple functionalities into stable Zr‐MOFs for a wide variety of potential applications.  相似文献

Temperature-constrained cascade correlation networks (TCCCNs) were used to identify powdered rhubarbs based on their near-infrared spectra. Different network configurations that used multiple network models with single output (Uni-TCCCN) and single networks with multiple outputs (Multi-TCCCN) were compared. Comparative studies were made by using Latin-partitions and leave-one-out cross-validation methods. Results showed that multiple networks with single output predicted generally better than single network with multiple outputs. Better results with TCCCN models were obtained compared with conventional back propagation neural networks (BPNNs). The effects of parameters on correct identification and parameter optimizations were discussed in detail. With optimized neural network training parameters, NIR spectra from powdered rhubarb samples were classified by a TCCCN model with 100% accuracy.  相似文献

We present a robust way to create multiple emulsions with controllable shell thicknesses that can vary over a wide range. We use a microfluidic device to create a coaxial jet of immiscible fluids; using a dripping instability, we break the jet into multiple emulsions. By controlling the thickness of each layer of the jet, we adjust the thicknesses of the shells of the multiple emulsions. The same method is also effective in creating monodisperse emulsions from fluids that cannot otherwise be controllably emulsified, such as, for example, viscoelastic fluids.  相似文献

Depositing multiple proteins on the same substrate in positions similar to the natural cellular environment is essential to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In this study, the development and verification of a multiprotein microcontact printing (μCP) technique is described. It is shown that patterns of multiple proteins can be created by the sequential printing of proteins with micrometer precision in registration using an inverted microscope. Soft polymeric stamps were fabricated and mounted on a microscope stage while the substrate to be stamped was placed on a microscope objective and kept at its focal distance. This geometry allowed for visualization of patterns during the multiple stamping events and facilitated the alignment of multiple stamped patterns. Astrocytes were cultured over stamped lane patterns and were seen to interact and align with the underlying protein patterns.  相似文献

Peptide dendrimers with multiple histidines or N-terminal prolines efficiently catalyze ester hydrolysis or aldol reactions in aqueous medium. Part of the catalytic proficiency of these dendritic enzyme models stems from multivalency effects observed in G2, G3 and G4 dendrimers displaying multiple catalytic groups in their branches. To study multivalency in higher generation systems, G4, G5 and G6 peptide dendrimers were prepared by a convergent assembly. Thus, peptide dendrimers bearing four or eight chloroacetyl groups at their N-termini underwent multiple thioether ligation with G2 and G3 peptide dendrimers with a cysteine residue at their focal point, to give G4, G5 and G6 dendrimers containing up to 341 amino acids, including multiple histidines or N-terminal prolines. While the efficiency of the esterase catalysts was comparable to that of their lower generation analogs, a remarkable reactivity increase was observed in G5 and G6 aldolase dendrimers.  相似文献

The last decade has witnessed multiple helicenes arising as an interesting class of nonplanar polycyclic aromatics of inherent multihelicity. These molecules present esthetic structures and interesting properties not available to helicenes of single helicity. Herein an overview of multiple helicenes with respect to structures, stereochemical dynamics, synthesis, and applications is provided. Recently reported multiple helicenes are surveyed with an emphasis on molecular structures and stereochemistry of multiple carbohelicenes. After this survey, the synthesis of multiple helicenes through the Scholl reaction is discussed and recent applications of multiple helicenes in organic electronics are summarized. On the basis of these discussions, conclusions are reached on the current status of multiple helicenes and an outlook for this field is provided.  相似文献

Selective syntheses of novel polyether fullerene multiple adducts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We have applied a modified macrocyclic tether approach to control multiple additions to C60. The technique of 3He NMR was used to confirm the selective formation of specific C60 multiple adducts by the macrocyclic tether approach. An oligoglycol was used as a flexible linker to produce macrocyclic polyether-linked malonates 5, 6, 8, and 9 under solid-liquid PTC (phase-transfer-catalysis) conditions. The formation of a single C60 tris-adduct, 3, from macrocyclic malonate 1 and 3He@C60 was proven by 3He NMR. Similarly, multiple additions to C60 of macrocyclic polyether malonate 5 gave C60 bis-adduct 10 selectively, while the reaction of C60 with macrocyclic malonate 8 gave bis-adducts 11 and 12. A similar process with macrocyclic malonate 6 gave tris-adduct 13 with high selectivity as well. Saponification of these C60 multiple adducts gives the corresponding polyacids that are potentially useful in biological applications. Macrocyclic polyether fullerenes are a new class of ionophores, which could be interesting for molecular recognition and for the development of biosensors.  相似文献

We examine the ability of Bayesian methods to recreate structural ensembles for partially folded molecules from averaged data. Specifically we test the ability of various algorithms to recreate different transition state ensembles for folding proteins using a multiple replica simulation algorithm using input from "gold standard" reference ensembles that were first generated with a Go-like Hamiltonian having nonpairwise additive terms. A set of low resolution data, which function as the "experimental" phi values, were first constructed from this reference ensemble. The resulting phi values were then treated as one would treat laboratory experimental data and were used as input in the replica reconstruction algorithm. The resulting ensembles of structures obtained by the replica algorithm were compared to the gold standard reference ensemble, from which those "data" were, in fact, obtained. It is found that for a unimodal transition state ensemble with a low barrier, the multiple replica algorithm does recreate the reference ensemble fairly successfully when no experimental error is assumed. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test as well as principal component analysis show that the overlap of the recovered and reference ensembles is significantly enhanced when multiple replicas are used. Reduction of the multiple replica ensembles by clustering successfully yields subensembles with close similarity to the reference ensembles. On the other hand, for a high barrier transition state with two distinct transition state ensembles, the single replica algorithm only samples a few structures of one of the reference ensemble basins. This is due to the fact that the phi values are intrinsically ensemble averaged quantities. The replica algorithm with multiple copies does sample both reference ensemble basins. In contrast to the single replica case, the multiple replicas are constrained to reproduce the average phi values, but allow fluctuations in phi for each individual copy. These fluctuations facilitate a more faithful sampling of the reference ensemble basins. Finally, we test how robustly the reconstruction algorithm can function by introducing errors in phi comparable in magnitude to those suggested by some authors. In this circumstance we observe that the chances of ensemble recovery with the replica algorithm are poor using a single replica, but are improved when multiple copies are used. A multimodal transition state ensemble, however, turns out to be more sensitive to large errors in phi (if appropriately gauged) and attempts at successful recreation of the reference ensemble with simple replica algorithms can fall short.  相似文献

A critical requirement for the successful recognition of multiple analytes is the acquisition of abundant sensing information. However, for this to be achieved requires massive chemical sensors or multiplex materials, which complicates the multianalysis. Thus, there is a need to develop a strategy for the facile and efficient recognition of multiple analytes. Herein, we explore the angle‐dependent structural colors of photonic crystals to provide abundant optical information, thereby generating a rainbow‐color chip to realize the convenient recognition of multiple analytes. By simply using a multiangle analysis method, the monophotonic crystal matrix chip can differentially enhance fluorescence signals over broad spectral ranges, thereby resulting in abundant sensing information for highly efficient multiple analysis. Twelve saccharides with similar structures, as well as saccharides in different concentrations and mixtures, were successfully discriminated.  相似文献

The chemical constituents of Simiao Wan (SW), a traditional Chinese medicine preparation, are difficult to determine and remain unclear. To more efficiently detect ions, a multiple data processing approach has been used in the characterization of the compounds. In this study, a rapid and sensitive method based on ultra high performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry and the multiple data processing approach was established to characterize the chemical constituents of SW. Ultra high performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry coupled with the multiple data processing approach could efficiently remove nonrelated ion signals from accurate mass data. We report the application of the multiple data processing approach for comprehensive detection and rapid identification of chemical constituents of SW. Of note, the total analysis time for separation was less than 20 min without losing any resolution. In the variable, importance in projection plot of orthogonal projection to latent structure‐discriminant analysis, a total of 72 ions of interest (37 ions in positive mode, 38 ions in negative mode and three ions in both mode) were extracted or tentatively characterized based on their retention times, exact mass measurement for each molecular ion and subsequent fragment ions. In summary, the methodology proposed in this study could be valuable for the structural characterization and identification of the multiple constituents in the traditional Chinese medicine formula SW.  相似文献

A hierarchical and scalable microfluidic device constructed from a combination of three building blocks enables highly controlled generation of multicomponent multiple emulsions. The number, ratio and size of droplets, each with distinct contents being independently co-encapsulated in the same level, can be precisely controlled. The building blocks are a drop maker, a connector and a liquid extractor; combinations of these enable the scale-up of the device to create higher-order multicomponent multiple emulsions with exceptionally diverse structures. These multicomponent multiple emulsions offer a versatile and promising platform for precise encapsulation of incompatible actives or chemicals, for synergistic delivery and biochemical and chemical reactions, and for engineering multicompartment materials with controlled internal phases.  相似文献
