We synthesized yttrium-doped CNT-ZnO (CNT-YZO) nanoparticles (NPs) and nanoflowers (NFs) from the hydrothermal method at 130 °C. The effect of Y3+-concentrations in nanostructured CNT-YZO was determined in terms of the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB). Microstructural analysis showed the hexagonal cubic structure of ZnO regardless of Y-concentration or the addition of CNTs during the nucleation and growth. The specific surface area, total pore volume, and mean pore diameter of typical CNT-YZO NFs were observed to be 36.109 m2/g, 0.162 cm3/g, and 17.932 nm, respectively. The photocatalytic degradation performance of CNT-YZO NFs improved due to increase reactive sites of the catalyst and reduced recombination of photo-induced carriers. The surface-area normalized first-order decomposition rates (r/m2) of CNT-YZO NFs showed the highest photocatalytic degradation (99%). The CNT-YZO has produced a new kind of material for the photocatalytic degradation under the irradiation of visible light using a solar simulator.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We reported a green and simple method for biosynthesizing zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using Corymbia citriodora leaf extract as reducing and stabilizing agent. SEM, EDX, XRD, UV–VIS spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and TGA have been used for characterizing the biosynthesized ZnO NPs. The results indicating the ZnO NPs synthesized by C. citriodora leaf extract have high purity and the average size is 64?nm. The photocatalytic activity of the ZnO NPs has been investigated by degradation methylene blue under visible light irradiation. Due to the smaller size, the biosynthesized ZnO NPs showed an excellent photocatalytic performance.  相似文献

Low-cost and scalable preparation, high photocatalytic activity, and convenient recycle of Zn O nanopowders(NPs)would determine their practical application in purifying wastewater. In this contribution,ZnO NPs were scalably synthesized via the simple reaction of Zn powder with H_2O vapor in autoclave. The structural, morphological and optical properties of the samples were systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectra, transmission electron microscopy,Micro-Raman,photoluminescence,and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The as-prepared Zn O NPs are composed of nanoparticles with 100–150 nm in diameter, and have a small Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 6.85 m~2/g.The formation of Zn O nanoparticles is relative to the peeling of H_2 release.Furthermore, the product has big strain-stress leading to the red-shift in the band gap of product, and shows a strong green emission centered at 515 nm revealing enough atomic defects in Zn O NPs.As a comparison with P25,the obtained dust gray Zn O NPs have a strong absorbance in the region of 200–700 nm,suggesting the wide wave-band utilization in sunlight.Based on the traits above, the Zn O NPs show excellent photocatalytic activity on the degradation of rhodamine B(Rh-B)under solar light irradiation, close to that under UV irradiation.Importantly, the Zn O NPs could be well recycled in water due to the quick sedimentation in themselves in solution. The low-cost and scalable preparation, high photocatalytic activity, and convenient recycle of Zn O NPs endow themselves with promising application in purifying wastewater.  相似文献

In the present work, silver-doped ZnO (Ag–ZnO NPs) with different concentrations of silver ions (0.3, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mol %) were synthesized by using a simple co-precipitation method. The Ag–ZnO NPs were primarily characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, EDS, TEM, UV–Vis. DRS, PL and BET surface area. The XRD analysis of Ag–ZnO NPs shows a wurtzite structure and optimized Ag–ZnO NPs (1.0 mol %) exhibit a lower crystallite size of 15.96 nm than that of bare ZnO (19.07 nm). Optical study shows a decrease in band gap from 3.13 to 2.97 eV as the concentration of Ag ions increases from 0.3 to 1.5 mol%. TEM images reveal the spherical shape particle with sizes ranging between 10 and 15 nm. From the multipoint BET plot, the surface area of Ag–ZnO NPs found 38.06 m2/gwhich is higher than the ZnO NPs (34.48 m2/g). The photocatalytic study demonstrated that the Ag–ZnO NPs (1.0 mol %) has an excellent photodegradation efficiency of Methyl Orange (96.74%)with a 26% increment as compared to bare ZnO (70.47%). Furthermore, the bactericidal activity of Ag–ZnO NPs (1.0 mol %) was investigated against four different bacterial strains. The results explored that the Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli and P. vulgaris) are more sensitive than Gram-positive (S. aureus and B. cereus) to Ag–ZnO NPs. Overall, the anticipated material is economical and reusable for photodegradation and antibacterial activity.  相似文献

ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) with tunable morphologies were synthesized by a hybrid electrochemical–thermal method at different calcination temperatures without the use of any surfactant or template. The NPs were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, dynamic light scattering, thermogravimetry–differential thermal analysis, scanning electron microscope and N2 gas adsorption–desorption studies. The FT-IR spectra of ZnO NPs showed a band at 450 cm?1, a characteristic of ZnO, which remained fairly unchanged at calcination temperatures even above 300 °C, indicating complete conversion of the precursor to ZnO. The products were thermally stable above 300 °C. The ZnO NPs were present in a hexagonal wurtzite phase and the crystallinity of ZnO increased with an increasing calcination temperature. The ZnO NPs calcined at lower temperature were mesoporous in nature. The surface areas of ZnO NPs calcined at 300 and 400 °C were 51.10 and 40.60 m2 g?1, respectively, which are significantly larger than commercial ZnO nanopowder. Surface diffusion has been found to be the key mechanism of sintering during heating from 300 to 700 °C with the activation energy of sintering as 8.33 kJ mol?1. The photocatalytic activity of ZnO NPs calcined at different temperatures evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue under sunlight showed strong dependence on the surface area of ZnO NPs. The ZnO NPs with high surface area showed enhanced photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

To increase the profitability and sustainability of agricultural waste, a facile green approach was established to synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using saffron leaf extract as a reducing and stabilizing agent. Structural characteristics of NPs were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and UV–Visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy. Characterization results revealed that ZnO NPs is highly crystalline with a hexagonal wurtzite structure and spherical particles with diameter less than 50 nm, as confirmed by XRD and FESEM techniques. UV–Vis absorption spectra depicted an absorption peak at 370 nm, which confirms the formation of ZnO NPs. FTIR spectral analysis confirmed the presence of functional groups and metal oxygen groups. The biological activities of ZnO NPs were also investigated. The antibacterial effect of ZnO NPs was investigated against selected food pathogens (Salmonella Typhimurium, Listeria monocytogenes, and Enterococcus faecalis). The study results prove that the green synthesized ZnO NPs show enhanced antibacterial activity against S. Typhimurium when compared with other strains. A dose-dependent free radical scavenging activity was observed for ZnO NPs in both 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH) and fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) assays. The ZnO NPs were evaluated for their photocatalytic activity during the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye in aqueous solutions. The maximum removal of MB achieved was 64% with an initial ZnO NP concentration of 12 mg/mL under UV light. The present study revealed that the agricultural waste (saffron leaf) provides a simple and eco-friendly option to sustainably synthesize ZnO NPs for use as a photocatalyst. In addition, this is the first report on saffron leaf-mediated synthesis of ZnO NPs.  相似文献

To eliminate volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from contaminated air, a novel medium-scale baffled photocatalytic reactor was designed and fabricated, using immobilized ZnO/SnO2 coupled oxide photocatalysts. Toluene was chosen as a representative pollutant of VOCs to investigate the degradation mechanism and the parameters affecting photocatalytic degradation efficiency. The preliminary experimental results indicate that the degradation efficiency of toluene increased with the increase of the light irradiation dosage, while it decreased with the increase of concentrations of toluene. The degradation efficiency increased rapidly with the increase of the relative humidity in a low humidity range from 0 to 35%, but decreased gradually in a high relative humidity (i.e., >35%). The optimum experimental conditions for toluene degradation is a toluene concentration of 106 mg m?3, a relative humidity of 35%, and an illumination intensity of ca. 6 mW cm?2 at the surface of ZnO/SnO2 photocatalysts. The intermediates produced during the gaseous photocatalytic degradation process were identified using the GC–MS technique. Based on these identified intermediates, the photocatalytic mechanism of toluene into ZnO/SnO2 coupled oxide catalyst was also deduced.  相似文献

In the present work, the chalcogen (Se2+)-doped ZnO nanoparticles (SeZO-NPs) were synthesized using sol-gel precipitation method and tested for photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). X-ray diffraction pattern of SeZO-NPs showed the hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure regardless of Se concentration. The band edge and defect-level emissions of SeZO-NPs were determined by using the photoluminescence spectra with the excitation source of 370 nm. The bandgap, Eg, of SeZO-NPs was measured from diffused reflectance spectroscopy, which increased from 3.22 to 3.26 eV as Se concentration increased from 0 to 10 wt.%. The highest specific surface area and lowest pore size of 5-SeZO-NPs were observed to be 36.42 m2/g and 13.48 nm, respectively. The photocatalytic degradation of SeZO-NPs was measured under the illumination of ultraviolet (UV) light. The double donor (Se) played an important role toward photodegradation of RhB via reducing the recombination of charge carriers. The highest photocatalytic degradation (98.23%) and mineralization were achieved for the sample 5-SeZO (Se: 5 wt.%). The improved photocatalytic performance of 5-SeZO was attributed to the optimum Se dopant concentration for the production of more reactive oxygen species because of effective separation of charge carriers in UV light.  相似文献

ZnO nanoparticles are one of the prominent photocatalysts for environmental applications due to its high redox ability, nontoxic and higher stability. This report explains the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles by a simple solution combustion method using zinc nitrate hexahydrate as an oxidizing agent and incense stick powder as fuel at 400 °C. Several techniques were adopted for the characterization of the obtained product. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern shows that a lower concentration of fuel gives pure ZnO and a higher concentration of fuel results in calcium doped ZnO with a cubic phase having a crystallite size of 32–28 nm. UV–vis spectrum shows that as the fuel concentration increases, band gap decreases and reaches to 3.33 eV for 3 g of fuel. Spongy networks with many pores wereobserved in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) images showed the average particle size of Ca doped ZnO NPs is about 20 nm. Pure and Ca doped ZnO nanoparticles were examined for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under UV light irradiation. The results prove that Ca doped ZnO nanoparticles show good photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Hierarchical ZnO hollow spheres (400–500 nm in diameter) consisting of ZnO nanoparticles with a diameter of approximately 15 nm have been successfully prepared by a facile and rapid sonochemical process. The formation of hierarchical ZnO hollow spheres is attributed to the oriented attachment and subsequent Ostwald ripening process according to time‐dependent experiments. The as‐prepared ZnO hollow spheres are used as a photoanode in dye‐sensitized solar cells and exhibit a highly efficient power conversion efficiency of 4.33 %, with a short‐circuit current density of 9.56 mA cm?2, an open‐circuit voltage of 730 mV, and a fill factor of 0.62 under AM 1.5 G one sun (100 mW cm?2) illumination. Moreover, the photovoltaic performance (4.33 %) using the hierarchical ZnO hollow spheres is 38.8 % better than that of a ZnO nanoparticle photoelectrode (3.12 %), which is mainly attributed to the efficient light scattering for the former.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared by a green synthesis process, using Trichodesma indicum (T. indicum) leaf extract at different (5, 10 and 15 mL) concentrations. The formation of Ag NPs was confirmed by UV–Vis spectrophotometry with surface plasmon resonance at 443 nm. After this confirmation, the influence of leaf extract concentrations on the structural and surface morphological properties was studied. Along with their physical properties, antibacterial activity against pathogenic (B. cereus and E. coli) bacteria and photocatalytic de-colorization of methylene blue (MB) were examined. The XRD studies revealed that all the nanoparticles exhibited preferential orientation along the (111) plane of silver. The crystallite size decreases as the extract concentration is increased. From SEM images, it was found that the particles are spherical in shape and the size of the particles decreased drastically when the leaf extracts concentration is greater than 10 mL. The images strongly support the result observed from the SEM studies. FT-IR analysis showed that the plant compounds are involved in the reduction of Ag+ ions to Ag0. Ag NPs synthesized in 15 mL of leaf extract greatly resist the growth of both species and decomposed 82% of MB within 210 min. This ability of Ag NPs can be due to the small spherical-shaped particles and larger Ag+ ion release.  相似文献

ZnS hollow nanospheres with nanoporous shell were successfully synthesized through the evolvement of ZnO nanospheres which were synthesized by hydrothermal method with poly (sodium-p-styrene sulfonate) (PSS) as surfactant at low temperature. The as-synthesized samples were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), UV/vis spectrum and N2 adsorption. The results showed that the shell of as-synthesized ZnS hollow structure was composed of many fine crystallites and had a nanoporous structure with pore diameter about 4 nm demonstrated by N2 adsorption/desorption isotherm. The sample possessed efficiency of photocatalytic degradation on X-containing (X=Cl, Br, I) organic pollutants.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The synthesized ZnO NPs using durian rind in solution has shown maximum absorption at 355.5?nm with the bandgap of 3.33?eV, spectrophotometrically. SEM and TEM studies revealed that the shape of the synthesized ZnO NPs was spherical with an average size of 280 and 283?nm, respectively. However, DLS analysis of ZnO NPs revealed the average particle size of 456?d.nm. The presence of [100], [002], [101], [102], [110], [103], [200], [112] and [201] planes in XRD corroborate the formation of pure wurtzite structure of ZnO NPs. Synthesized ZnO NPs showed remarkable photocatalytic activity on degradation of methylene blue and sulfanilamide, antioxidant activity, considerable antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and considerable cytotoxic activity against brine shrimp. The sulfanilamide degradation was found to be 96.70%, under natural sunlight and in the presence of 0.1% ZnO NPs at pH 10 with a time of 3?h. The dye degradation was found to be 84% under sunlight in the presence of 0.01% ZnO NPs at pH 10 with a time of 40?min. The synthesized ZnO NPs may be explored furthermore in the fields of wastewater treatment, biomedicine, biosensor, and nanotechnology.  相似文献

A series of Mo-doped ZnO photocatalysts with different Mo-dopant concentrations have been prepared by a grinding-calcination method. The structure of these photocatalysts was characterized by a variety of methods, including N 2 physical adsorption,X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopy, photoluminescence(PL) emission spectroscopy, and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS).It was found that Mo 6+ could enter into the crystal lattice of ZnO due to the radius of Mo 6+(0.065 nm) being smaller than that of Zn 2+(0.083 nm).XRD results indicated that Mo 6+ suppressed the growth of ZnO crystals. The FT-IR spectroscopy results showed that the ZnO with 2 wt.% Mo-doping has a higher level of surface hydroxyl groups than pure ZnO.PL spectroscopy indicated that ZnO with 2 wt.% Mo-doping also exhibited the largest reduction in the intensity of the emission peak at 390 nm caused by the recombination of photogenerated hole-electron pairs. The activities of the Mo-doped ZnO photocatalysts were investigated in the photocatalytic degradation of acid orange II under UV light(λ = 365 nm) irradiation. It was found that ZnO with 2 wt.% Mo-doping showed much higher photocatalytic activity and stability than pure ZnO.The high photocatalytic performance of the Mo-doped ZnO can be attributed to a great improvement in the surface properties of ZnO,higher crystallinity and lower recombination rate of photogenerated hole-electron(e-/h+) pairs. Moreover, the undoped Mo species may exist in the form of MoO3 and form MoO3 /ZnO heterojunctions which further favors the separation of e-/h+ pairs.

The polyaniline/zinc oxide (PANI/ZnO) nanocomposites were prepared by in situ polymerization of aniline monomer with ZnO nanomaterials and applied as a photocatalyst for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye. The morphological observations elicited the agglomerations of PANI sheets which occurred due to the interaction between PANI and ZnO nanomaterials in PANI/ZnO nanocomposites. As compared to pristine PANI, the UV–vis spectra exhibited that the absorption peak of ππ* transitions considerably shifted to higher wavelength at 360 nm from 325 nm in the nanocomposites. The photocatalytic activity results indicated the substantial degradation of MB dye by ~76% over the surface of PANI/ZnO nanocomposite catalyst under light illumination. The PANI/ZnO nanocomposites showed three times higher photocatalytic activity to MB dye degradation compared to pristine PANI might due to high photogenerated electron (ē)–hole (h+) pairs charge separation.  相似文献

The present study fabricates biogenic zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) with the aqueous leaf extract of Annona muricata (Am) plant collected from semi-evergreen forests of Odisha, India. The synthesized Am-ZnO NPs were physicochemically characterized. The ultraviolet/visible spectrum showed the maximum optical absorbance of Am-ZnO NPs at 355 nm. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis presented the nearly spherical shape of Am-ZnO NPs with an average particle size of 80 nm. The net surface charge and hydrodynamic size of Am-ZnO NPs were measured to be ~?2.59 mV and ~417 nm, respectively. Am-ZnO NPs were found to be biocompatible and hemocompatible nature. Furthermore, Am-ZnO NPs displayed strong anticancer effects on both 2D and 3D tumor models. We observed a dose-dependent toxicity on both A549 and MOLT4 cells and observed a size reduction in the A549 tumor spheroids. Subsequently, we observed a depolarization in mitochondrial membrane potential of Am-ZnO NP–treated cancer cells leading to the apoptosis induction in cancer cells.  相似文献

With the rapid development of the world economy, water pollution has become increasingly serious. The photocatalytic degradation of pollutants is one of the most promising environmental treatment techniques. In this study, novel Ag3PW12O40/ZnO nanoheterojunction was successfully constructed via a chemical process and was then characterized using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis, and photoluminescence measurements. The synthesized nanoheterojunction exhibited good crystallinity and dispersity. The particle diameter of the composite was approximately 800 nm, the bandgap was 2.92 eV, and the specific surface area was approximately 10.5 m2.g?1. Under optimum conditions, the photocatalyst degraded 82.1% RhB in 60 min. Moreover, the novel Ag3PW12O40/ZnO heterojunction also exhibited an excellent recycling stability. Hydroxyl radicals, superoxide radicals, and holes played important roles in the photocatalytic degradation process. A possible mechanism for the enhanced photocatalytic performance of the nanoheterojunction was proposed. This work provides a strong foundation for the application of Ag3PW12O40/ZnO nanoheterojunction for treating environmental organic pollutants.  相似文献

CdS nanowires doped with different contents of Eu dopant were synthesized by solvothermal method. XRD, SEM, TEM and Raman analyses certified that the as-synthesized samples were hexagonal CdS uniform nanowires. The pure CdS nanowires were 1–3 ?μm long and 80 ?nm diameter with the 1st and 2nd order longitudinal phonon modes at 298 and 594 ?cm?1. The 3% Eu-doped CdS wires were 800 ?nm–2.5 ?μm long and 75 ?nm diameter with the 1st and 2nd order longitudinal phonon modes at 296 and 593 ?cm?1. CdS nanowires grew along the [001] direction due to the surface energy effect. The photocatalytic properties of CdS and Eu-doped CdS nanowires were investigated for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) illuminated by visible radiation. In this research, Eu dopant played the role in promoting the photocatalytic kinetics because Eu3+ ions act as an electron acceptor to promote charge separation and photocatalytic activity. Both OH and O2? were the main active radicals used to transform RhB molecules into CO2, H2O and other intermediates.  相似文献
