In this study a procedure of sequential extraction of metals from sediments was applied to samples from the lagoon of Venice. Compared to the measurement of total concentrations, the knowledge of metal partitioning among sediment phases can help in estimating the risk posed by metal polluted sediments and give information on contamination sources and on the factors that influence metal enrichment in sediments. The results permitted to estimate for each metal the percentage of the total content that could be potentially remobilized from sediments, owing to changes in environmental conditions. The immediately available fraction represented in general a low proportion of the total content. An important proportion of most metals (except for Zn, Cd and Cu) was associated to residual phases and therefore was not expected to be released under the normal environmental conditions. The large amounts of metals bound to Fe-Mn oxides/hydroxides confirmed the strong scavenging efficiency of this phase. The carbonate phase was the preferential associative form for Pb, Cd and Zn, whereas Cu was bound in prevalence to the organic matter/sulphide phase.  相似文献

In order to evaluate the slurry nebulisation method as an alternative method for analysis of sewage sludge, the metal content of sludge samples of different origins was determined. The concentrations of six elements: Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn were determined by introducing the sludge as a slurry into an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES). Calibration was performed by using aqueous standard solutions. For comparison, the sewage sludge was also digested by microwave digestion and introduced into the plasma as an aqueous solution. The accuracy of the method was checked by analysing a sewage sludge certified reference material (CRM 007-040 Sewage Sludge). The Student's t-test showed that values obtained using slurry nebulisation were close to the certified values at a 95% confidence level. The values of elements Cd 11.1?±?0.8; Cr 37.7?±?3.3; Cu 563.3?±?38.4; Pb 119.2?±?10.1; Zn 729?±?68.2?mg?kg?1 obtained using this method were comparable with those obtained using the conventional method. The slurry method can, therefore, be successfully applied to the determination of content of each element in sewage sludge with RSD less than 3%, without the need to predissolve them. This could avoid the use of hazardous chemicals, incomplete dissolution and loss of volatile analytes.  相似文献

A sequential extraction technique was used to determine the chemical species of six metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd) in suspended matter of the Kaoping and Tsengwen river basins. The samples were taken to cover the fresh and marine characteristics. The precision of the species determination was estimated by the relative difference between the concentration of total metal and the sum concentation of the five species. The accuracy for the measurement of total metal was examined from the recovery of metal spiking. The accuracy of the total determination is better than 94% and the precision of speciation is greater than 90%. Most of the studied metals were found in the Fe-Mn oxides and residual fractions except that Cd, Zn and Cu have significant amounts in the exchangeable, carbonate, and organic matter phases, respectively. Species other than residual fraction are generally considered as potentially available for biota in aquatic systems, and in most cases, metal pollution could be reflected from the variation of fraction distributions.  相似文献

The concentration and chemical speciation of Cd and Zn as well as total organic carbon (TOC) were studied in surface sediments from 21 stations along Klang River. Sequential extraction technique (SET) was applied to assess the four (exchangeable, acid-reducible, oxidisable-organic and residual) fractions in surface sediment. And also, to obtain an overall classification of cadmium and zinc pollution in this area. This investigation was the first study on the basis of the chemical speciation of Cd and Zn in surface sediments of the Klang River. The total concentrations of metals were ranged (0.60–2.26 µg g− 1) for Cd and (33.26–268.24 µg g− 1) for Zn. The chemical speciation of Cd and Zn in most sampling stations were in the order of residual > acid-reducible > oxidisable-organic > exchangeable, and it showed that the Zn in Klang River surface sediments existed in the nonresistant fractions, whilst Cd existed in the resistant fraction. The degree of surface sediments contamination was determined for individual contamination factors (ICF) and global contamination factor (GCF). The result of ICF and GCF values showed that those stations located vicinity of municipal area had high potential risk to fauna and flora of the Klang River. The relationship between the concentration of cadmium and zinc at the oxidation-organic fraction with TOC in surface sediment was identified. The results showed that TOC had a positive function to complex with Cd and Zn in the surface sediment of Klang River.  相似文献

Adsorption of Cd (II), Cu (II), Ni (II), and Zn (II) from aqueous solutions on anaerobically digested sludge has been investigated. Experimental data has been fit to Langmuir, Freundlich, and Redlich-Peterson isotherms to obtain the characteristic parameters of each model. Based on the maximum adsorption capacity obtained from the Langmuir and the Redlich-Peterson isotherm the affinity of the studied metals for the sludge has been established as Cu (II)>Cd (II)>Zn (II)>Ni (II). Adsorption tests from multimetal systems confirm the affinity order obtained in the individual metal tests. The adsorption capacity for Cu (II) measured in individual tests is not reduced by the presence of the other above referred metals. A procedure is described for the determination without preconcentration of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn in Antarctic snow, based on differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry at a rotating glassy carbon electrode with in situ mercury plating. Thirty four surface snow samples from Adelaide Island in the Antarctic Peninsula demonstrate the scope of this method, and allow an assessment of local heavy metal sources such as the rock, the sea, and a manned base. The zinc data are affected by container contamination, but concentrations as low as 0.005, <0.02 and 0.05 ng g-1 were measured for Cd, Cu and Pb, respectively.  相似文献

Summary General and specific contamination factors affecting accuracy of results in heavy metal analysis at the trace level, with particular reference to the determination of Zn, Cd, Pb, Bi and Cu, are evaluated. Precautions are described to achieve a contamination controlled laboratory in general and manipulation places in particular. Pretreatment and cleaning procedures for sampling bottles and other labware, contamination-free filtration of samples and their long-term storage are dealt with. 在固定床焚烧实验装置上,采用正交实验法研究了焚烧温度(t_c)、污泥掺混比(X_s)、O_2体积分数(φ_(O2))、初始含水率(φ_(H2O))、焚烧时间(τ)和含氯量(φ_(Cl))六个因素对O_2/CO_2气氛下污泥/煤混燃中半挥发性重金属(Zn、Pb、Cd、Cu、Ni和Cr)释放特性的影响。结果表明,六种因素对重金属释放率影响程度排序为t_cX_sφ_(H2O)φ_(O2)≈τφ_(Cl)。相同焚烧工况下,Zn释放率最大,Pb和Cd次之,Cu、Ni和Cr较小。提高温度会促进重金属释放,且高温(1000-1100℃)对重金属释放的影响显著强于低温(700-900℃)。随着温度由700℃升高至1100℃,Zn和Pb释放率分别由36.1%和12.2%上升至70.9%和63.5%,Cd在900℃下达到40.0%的最大释放率,而Cu、Ni和Cr释放率大都维持在20.0%以下,温度对重金属释放率影响程度排序为PbZnCdCuCrNi。重金属释放率随着污泥掺混比增加逐渐下降,却随着初始含水率增加呈现波浪式变化趋势,且在30%O_2体积分数下重金属释放率取得最小值。焚烧时间和含氯量对Pb释放的影响程度显著强于其他五种重金属。O_2/CO_2气氛下污泥/煤混燃的最佳工况为:焚烧温度为900-1000℃、污泥掺混比为25%左右、O_2体积分数为30%、初始含水率小于10%,并尽可能的缩短焚烧时间。  相似文献

We validated the determination of the content of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn using two digestion protocols: a microwave-assisted total digestion and an aqua regia extraction procedure based on the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) 11466 method. Our goal in validating these two protocols, along with a nitric acid digestion, is to propose a rapid, cheap and easily automated digestion method for monitoring heavy metal content in environmental samples. We applied the digestion protocols to samples with a wide range of organic matter such as sediments, soils, sludges and plant material.For samples with a low carbonate or organic matter contents, such as sediments and agricultural soils, aqua regia digestion in an aluminium block was revealed to be an optimum estimator for the total metal content. For samples with a high organic matter content, such as organic horizons of forest floor layers, plant material and organic soils, nitric acid digestion could substitute microwave (MW)-hydrofluoric acid (HF) digestion. Except in a few samples with high organic matter or low heavy metal content, the RSD values obtained after the application of the proposed digestion procedures were lower than 5%. Based on the obtained results, a decision flow chart for choosing the fit-for-purpose digestion procedure is suggested.  相似文献

The current BCR procedure for metal fractionation recommended by the Standard Measurement and Testing Programme requires rather time-consuming sample pretreatment. Ultrasonic energy seems to be an attractive alternative for leaching metal from solid samples into a liquid extractant phase. This study aims at optimizing ultrasonic extraction in order to replace the BCR method of leaching using acetic acid and to apply the procedure of assessing element mobility in bottom sediment rich in moderately soluble carbonate minerals. The application of ICP-MS allowed the determination of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Ni, Tl and Zn in extracts, in a wide range of concentration without any special treatment. Finally, 40’min extraction in an ultrasonic bath was proposed for evaluation of the mobile fraction of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb and Zn as an assessment of environmental risk. The recovery of the ultrasound-assisted extraction in comparison to the shake-filter method, as applied in the common BCR procedure, was slightly higher than 100% for As, Cr and Pb, reasonably high (about 70%) for Cd, Zn and Cd, but did not exceed 21% for Tl. Also, the mobility and extractability (relative mobility) of the studied elements from sediment collected over one year were compares. According to the results obtained after 40’min of ultrasound-assisted extraction it can be concluded that mobility did not change over one year for Cr, Cu, As, Cd, Ni and Tl, but noticeable differences for Zn and Pb were observed. The total content of all studied elements was almost the same in samples taken in the years 2003 and 2004, respectively.  相似文献
