A series of thiophene‐containing photoactive copolymers consisting of alternating conjugated and nonconjugated segments were synthesized. The 1H NMR spectra corroborated the well‐defined structures, and the copolymers not only were soluble in common organic solvents but also had high glass‐transition temperatures (ca. 130 °C) and good thermal stability up to 390 °C. Introducing aliphatic functional groups, such as alkyl or alkoxyl, into chromophores of the copolymers redshifted the photoluminescence spectra and lowered the optical bandgaps. The electrochemical bandgaps calculated from cyclic voltammetry agreed with the optical bandgaps and thus indicated that electroluminescence and photoluminescence originated from the same excited state. The energy levels (highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) of all the copolymers were lower than those of poly[2‐methoxy‐5‐(2′‐ethylhexyloxy)‐1.4‐phenylenevinylene] MEH–PPV, indicating balanced hole and electron injection, which led to improved performance in both single‐layer and double‐layer polymeric‐light‐emitting‐diode devices fabricated with these copolymers. All the copolymers emitted bluish‐green or green light above the threshold bias of 5.0 V under ambient conditions. At the maximum bias of 10 V, the electroluminescence of a device made of poly(2‐{4‐[2‐(3‐ethoxy phenyl)ethylene]phenyl}‐5‐{4‐[2‐(3‐ethoxy,4‐1,8‐octanedioxy phenyl)ethylene]phenyl}thiophene) was 5836 cd/m2. The external electroluminescence efficiency decreased with the lifetime as the polymer degraded. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 3954–3966, 2004  相似文献

New white polymeric light‐emitting diodes from phosphorescent single polymer systems have been developed using a blue‐light‐emitting fluorene monomer copolymerized with a red‐light‐emitting phosphorescent dye, and end‐capped with a green‐light‐emission dye. All of the copolymers have good thermal stability with 5% weight loss temperatures at 380–413 °C and glass transition temperatures at 75–137 °C. We obtained white‐light‐emission devices by adjusting the molar ratio of the comonomers with a structure of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrene sulfonic acid)/polyvinylcarbazole (PVK)/emission layer/Ca/Ag. The highest brightness in such a device configuration is 300 cd/m2 at a current density of 2900 A/m2 with high white color quality (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.33, 0.34)). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fluorescent hyperbranched copolymers (HB‐x, x = 1–4) with inherent tetraphenylthiophene, triphenylamine (TPA) and quinoline (Qu) moieties were prepared to study the influence of the TPA branching point on the thermal and the spectral stability. All the HB‐x copolymers exhibited high glass transition temperatures (Tgs = 245–315 °C) with the detected values increasing with the increasing branching TPA content in the HB‐x. The solid HB‐x films possess high emission efficiency with the resulting quantum yields (?Fs) in the ranges of 0.72–0.74. More importantly, the HB‐x copolymers and the derived light‐emitting devices exhibit high photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) stability towards thermal annealing at temperatures higher than 200 °C. After annealing at 200 °C (or 300 °C), no change was observed in the respective PL and EL spectra of HB‐1 (or HB‐4) copolymers. The spectral stability was found to correlate with Tg and with the highest branching density, HB‐4 copolymer possesses the highest thermal stability among all HB‐xs and show no EL spectral change after annealing at 300 °C for 4 h. The results indicate that all the branched HB‐x copolymers are promising candidates for the polymer light‐emitting diodes due to their high quantum yield and spectral stability. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In a quest for the main‐chain chiral and highly stable blue‐light‐emitting π‐conjugated polymers, a novel series of soluble conjugated random and alternating copolymers (PF‐BN) derived from fluorene and axially chiral 1,1′‐binaphthol (BINOL) were successfully synthesized by Suzuki coupling polymerization. The polymer structures, optical properties, and their electrochemical properties were investigated by 1H NMR, TGA/DSC, UV‐Vis absorption, photoluminescence, cyclic voltammetry, circular dichroism spectroscopy, and DFT calculations. The blue‐light‐emitting BINOL‐containing copolymers with proper content of BINOL show highly efficient photoluminescence and ultra highly stable light‐emission with almost unchanged fluorescent spectra after annealing at 200 °C in air for 10 h. The joint experimental and theoretical study of the main‐chain chirality reveals that (1) the chirality of BINOL can be transferred to the polymer backbone, (2) the effective conjugation length is about one BINOL and three fluorenes, (3) the main active chiral block in the copolymers is probably composed by one BINOL with the other two or three fluorenes, and (4) the dihedral angle in the PF‐BN copolymers should be larger than 105°. The incorporation of BINOL into the polyfluorene backbone is an effective way to produce highly efficient and stable blue‐light‐emitting main‐chain chiral conjugated polymer with interesting optoelectronic properties. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of fluorene derivatives containing nonsymmetric and bulky aromatic groups at C‐9 position were synthesized and used for the preparation of blue‐light‐emitting copolyfluorenes ( P1 – P4 ) by the Suzuki coupling polycondensation. The copolymers were characterized by molecular weight determination, elemental analysis, differential scanning calorimeter, thermogravimetric analysis, absorption and emission spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and differential pulse voltammetry. Their decomposition temperatures and glass transition temperatures are 423–441 °C and >120 °C, respectively. In film state, the copolyfluorenes exhibit blue photoluminescence at 425–450 nm, which remains almost unchanged after annealing at 200 °C in air for 60 min. Polymer light‐emitting diodes [ITO/PEDOT:PSS/ P1 – P4 /Ca(50 nm)/Al(100 nm)] show stable blue‐light emission under device operation with the CIE co‐ordinates being between (0.16, 0.07) and (0.17, 0.09). The light‐emitting diodes devices from P1 and P3 containing electron‐deficient oxadiazole units display enhanced performance, with the maximum brightness and maximum current efficiency being (4510 cd/m2 and 2.40 cd/A) and (2930 cd/m2, 1.19 cd/A), respectively. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A simple synthetic route was used for the synthesis of a novel series of alternating copolymers based on substituted 2,7‐distyrylfluorene bridged through alkylene chains. First, 2,7‐dibromofluorene was reacted with 2 equiv of butyllithium, and this was followed by a treatment with 1 equiv of α,ω‐dibromoalkane to yield the intermediate, poly(2,7‐dibromofluorene‐9,9‐diyl‐alt‐alkane‐α,ω‐diyl). ( 1 ) Heck coupling of the latter with 1‐tert‐butyl‐4‐vinylbenzene afforded the target, poly[2,7‐bis(4‐tert‐butylstyryl)fluorene‐9,9‐diyl‐alt‐alkane‐α,ω‐diyl] ( 2 ). The two versions of 2 ( 2a and 2b which have hexane and decane, respectively, as alkane groups) were readily soluble in common organic solvents. Their glass‐transition temperature was relatively low (52 and 87 °C). An intense blue photoluminescence emission with maxima at about 408 and 409 nm was observed in tetrahydrofuran solutions, whereas thin films exhibited an orange emission with maxima at 569 and 588 nm. Very large redshifts of the photoluminescence maxima and Stokes shifts in thin films indicated strong aggregation in the solid state. Both polymers oxidized and reduced irreversibly. Single‐layer light‐emitting diodes with hole‐injecting indium tin oxide and electron‐injecting aluminum electrodes were fabricated. They emitted orange light with external electroluminescence efficiencies of 0.52 and 0.36% photon/electron, as determined in light‐emitting diodes made of 2a and 2b , with alkylenes of (CH2)6 and (CH2)10, respectively. An increase in the external electroluminescence efficiency up to 1.5% was reached in light‐emitting diodes made of polymer blends consisting of 2a and poly(9,9‐dihexadecylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl), which emitted blue‐white light. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(9,9‐dihexylfluorene‐2,7‐vinylene‐alt‐dibenzothiophene‐2,8‐vinylene) (PS) and poly(9,9‐dihexylfluorene‐2,7‐vinylene‐alt‐dibenzothiophene‐5,5‐dioxide‐2,8‐ vinylene) (PSO) as well as corresponding model compounds were synthesized by Heck coupling. Both the polymers and model compounds were readily soluble in common organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran, dichloromethane, chloroform, and toluene. The polymers showed a decomposition temperature at ~430 °C and a char yield of about 65% at 800 °C in N2. The glass‐transition temperatures of the polymers were almost identical (75–77 °C) and higher than those of the model compounds (26–45 °C). All samples absorbed around 390 nm, and their optical band gaps were 2.69–2.85 eV. They behaved as blue‐greenish light emitting materials in both solutions and thin films, with photoluminescence emission maxima at 450–483 nm and photoluminescence quantum yields of 0.52–0.72 in solution. Organic light‐emitting diodes with an indium tin oxide/poly(ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonic acid)/polymer/Mg:Ag/Ag configuration with polymers PS and PSO as emitting layers showed green electroluminescence with maxima at 530 and 540 nm, respectively. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene and 10‐undecen‐1‐ol copolymers, prepared using a nickel complex as catalyst, were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X‐ray diffraction, and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy. The behavior exhibited by copolymers containing incorporated 10‐undecen‐1‐ol amounts within 0.5 and 4.6 mol % was compared with neat polyethylene. DSC revealed that a new crystalline region with lower thickness lamellae emerges in copolymers due to the side‐chains crystallization. Nevertheless, the global crystallization degree decreases due to the loss of crystallinity that occurs in a greater extent in PE‐like regions. Dielectric relaxation spectroscopy detected two processes, a low activation energy process below ?20 °C related with localized mobility increasing in intensity and deviating to higher temperatures with the increase in 10‐undecen‐1‐ol amount, and a high activation energy process ascribed to the glass transition, located at higher temperatures for the different copolymers relatively to neat polyethylene. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two new π‐conjugated polymers containing 1,3,5‐triazine units in the main chain, Pa and Pb , are reported. Pa and Pb (R = H and ? OCH3, respectively) showed blue photoluminescence emissions with quantum yields of more than 50% in toluene. In the solid state, Pa and Pb showed photoluminescence maximum emission peaks at 479 and 475 nm, respectively. Electrochemically, Pa and Pb showed good stability and reversibility under repeated electrochemical reduction. The polymers had glass‐transition temperatures higher than 90 °C and had 5 wt % loss temperatures higher than 400 °C. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two series of novel random polyfluorene copolymers containing quinoxaline units were prepared by stressing the coupling according to Yamamoto. The first series contains 2,3‐bis‐(4′‐tert‐butyl‐biphenyl‐4‐yl)benzo[g]quinoxaline and the second series 2,3‐bis‐(4′‐tert‐butyl‐biphenyl‐4‐yl)quinoxaline as energy accepting unit. The copolymers were identified by gel permeation chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Thermal properties were analyzed by thermal gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry revealing amorphous copolymers that are stable up to 430 °C. The morphology was investigated using atomic force microscopy. The optical properties in solutions and thin films were analyzed. Furthermore, the thin film electro‐optical properties were determined in monolayer polymer light‐emitting devices. Single layer devices were built with efficiencies ranging from 0.15 to 2.0 cd/A. For the random copolymers with 5 mol % benzo[g]quinoxazoline in the polyfluorene backbone some threefold efficiency enhancement from 1.1 to 3.0 cd/A was achieved by utilizing an ultra thin interlayer of poly(9,9‐di‐n‐octylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl)‐alt‐[1,4‐phenylene‐(4‐sec‐butylphenylimino)‐1,4‐phenylene] between PEDOT:PSS and the emissive random copolymer layer. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Block copolymers containing polystyrene and polycyclooctene were synthesized with a ring‐opening metathesis polymerization/chain‐transfer approach. Polystyrene, containing appropriately placed olefins, was prepared by anionic polymerization and served as a macromolecular chain‐transfer agent for the ring‐opening metathesis polymerization of cyclooctene. These unsaturated polymers were subsequently converted to the corresponding saturated triblock copolymers with a simple heterogeneous catalytic hydrogenation step. The molecular and morphological characterization of the block copolymers was consistent with the absence of significant branching in the central polycyclooctene and polyethylene blocks [high melting temperatures (114–127 °C) and levels of crystallinity (17–42%)]. A dramatic improvement in both the long‐range order and the mechanical properties of a microphase‐separated, symmetric polystyrene–polycyclooctene–polystyrene block copolymer sample was observed after fractionation. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A bipolar dibromo monomer, bis‐(4‐bromophenyl)[4‐(3,5‐diphenyl‐1,2,4‐ triazole‐4‐yl)‐phenyl]amine ( 9 ), containing electro‐rich triphenylamine and electro‐deficient 1,2,4‐triazole moieties was newly synthesized and characterized. Two fluorescent fluorene‐based conjugated copolymers ( TPAF , TPABTF ) were prepared via facile Suzuki coupling from the dibromo bipolar monomer, 4,7‐dibromo‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole ( BTDZ ), and 9,9‐dioctylfluorene. They were characterized by molecular weight determination, IR, NMR, DSC, TGA, solubility, absorption and photoluminescence spectra, and cyclic voltammetry. The polymers showed good solubility in common organic solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, and dichlorobenzene at room temperature. They had glass transition temperatures (Tg) higher than 135 °C and 5% degradation temperatures in nitrogen atmosphere were higher than 428 °C. Single layer polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLED) of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer/metal showed a blue emission at 444 nm and Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage (CIE) 1931 color coordinates of (0.16, 0.13) for TPAF . The device using TPABTF as emissive material showed electroluminescence at 542 nm with CIE1931 of (0.345, 0.625), low turn‐on voltage of 5 V, a maximum electroluminance of 696 cd/m2, and a peak efficiency of 2.02 cd/A. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of light‐emitting poly(p‐phenylene vinylene)s with triphenylamine units as hole‐transporting moieties in the main chain were synthesized via Wittig condensation in good yields. The newly formed vinylene double bonds possessed a trans configuration, which was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared and NMR spectroscopy. The high glass‐transition temperature (83–155 °C) and high decomposition temperature (>300 °C) suggested that the resulting copolymers possessed high thermal stability. These copolymers, especially TAAPV1, possessed a high weight‐average molecular weight (47,144) and a low polydispersity index (1.55). All the copolymers could be dissolved in common organic solvents, such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), CHCl3, CH2Cl2, and toluene, and exhibited intense photoluminescence in THF (the emission maxima were located from 478 to 535 nm) and in film (from 478 to 578 nm). The low onsets of the oxidation potential (0.6–0.75 V) suggested that the alternating copolymers possessed a good hole‐transporting property due to the incorporation of triphenylamine moieties. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel series of well‐defined alternating poly[2,7‐(9,9‐dihexylfluorenyl)‐alt‐pyridinyl] (PDHFP) with donor‐acceptor repeat units were synthesized using palladium (0)‐catalyzed Suzuki cross‐coupling reactions in good to high yields. In this series of alternating polymers, 2, 7‐(9,9‐dihexylfluorenyl) was used as the light emitting unit, and the electron deficient pyridinyl unit was employed to provide improved electron transportation. These polymers were characterized by 1H‐NMR and 13C‐NMR, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), thermal analyses, and UV‐vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The glass transition temperature of copolymers in nitrogen ranged from 110 to 148 °C, and the copolymers showed high thermal stabilities with high decomposition temperatures in the range of 350 to 390 °C in air. The difference in linkage position of pyridinyl unit in the polymer backbone has significant effects on the electronic and optical properties of polymers in solution and in film phases. Meta‐linkage (3,5‐ and 2,6‐linkage) of pyridinyl units in the polymer backbone is more favorable to polymer for pure blue emission and prevention of aggregation of polymer chain than para‐linkage (2,5‐linkage) of the pyridinyl units. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The ring‐opening copolymerization of ethylene carbonate (EC) with ε‐caprolactone (CL) was carried out using neodymium tris(2,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐4‐methylphenolate) as a single‐component catalyst. Copolymers containing up to 22.0% EC contents with high molecular weights (up to 23.97 × 104) and moderate molecular weight distributions (between 1.66 and 2.03) were synthesized at room temperature. Compared with homopoly(ε‐caprolactone), the copolymers with EC units exhibited increased glass transition temperatures (?35.6 °C), reduced melting temperatures (44.5 °C), and greatly enhanced elongation percentage at break (2383%) based on dynamic mechanic analysis. The crystallinities of the copolymers decreased with the increasing EC molar percentage in the products. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 4050–4055, 2008  相似文献

Thiourethane‐based thiol‐ene (TUTE) films were prepared from diisocyanates, tetrafunctional thiols and trienes. The incorporation of thiourethane linkages into the thiol‐ene networks results in TUTE films with high glass transition temperatures. Increases of Tg were achieved by aging at room temperature and annealing the UV cured films at 85 °C. The aged/annealed film with thiol prepared from isophorone diisocyanate and cured with a 10,080‐mJ/cm2 radiant exposure had the highest DMA‐based glass transition temperature (108 °C) and a tan δ peak with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 22 °C, indicating a very uniform matrix structure. All of the initially prepared TUTE films exhibited good physical and mechanical properties based on pencil hardness, pendulum hardness, impact, and bending tests. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article describes the synthesis and characterization of [polystyrene‐b‐poly(2‐vinylpyridine)]n star‐block copolymers with the poly(2‐vinylpyridine) blocks at the periphery. A two‐step living anionic polymerization method was used. Firstly, oligo(styryl)lithium grafted poly(divinylbenzene) cores were used as multifunctional initiators to initiate living anionic polymerization of styrene in benzene at room temperature. Secondly, vinylpyridine was polymerized at the periphery of these living (polystyrene)n stars in tetrahydrofuran at ?78 °C. The resulting copolymers were characterized using size exclusion chromatography, multiangle laser light scattering, 1H NMR, elemental analysis, and intrinsic viscosity measurements. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of organosoluble, aromatic polyamides were synthesized from a 4‐methyl‐substituted, triphenylamine‐containing, aromatic diacid monomer, 4,4′‐dicarboxy‐4″‐methyltriphenylamine, which is a blue‐light (454‐nm) emitter with a fluorescence quantum efficiency of 46%. These triphenylamine‐based, high‐performance polymers had strong fluorescence emissions in the blue region with high quantum yields up to 64% and one reversible oxidation redox couple around 1.20 V versus Ag/AgCl in acetonitrile solutions. They exhibited good thermal stability, with 10% weight loss temperatures above 480 °C under a nitrogen atmosphere and with relatively high glass‐transition temperatures (252–309 °C). All the polyamides revealed excellent stability of electrochromic characteristics, changing color from the original pale yellow to blue. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two novel series of soluble alternating conjugated copolymers comprising 10‐alkylphenothiazine and bithiophene or 3‐pentylthieno[3,2‐b]thiophene moieties were synthesized using palladium‐catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. The structures of the polymers and their thermal, photophysical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties were characterized and investigated. The polymers exhibited good thermal stability with decomposition temperature in the region of 342–390 °C and their glass transition temperatures (Tg) ranging from 126 to 150 °C. All polymers demonstrate broad optical absorption in the region of 300–500 nm with efficient blue‐green light emission. They showed ambipolar redox properties with low HOMO levels around ?5.13 eV. Polymer solar cells were fabricated using blends of the copolymers and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) in a 1:1 weight ratio. The maximum power conversion efficiency (η = 0.24%) was measured for the poly[3,7‐ (10‐hexylphenothiazine)‐alt‐bithiophene] as donor under simulated sun light (1000 W/m2). ABA‐type triblock copolymers and AB‐type star diblock copolymers with poly(2‐adamantyl vinyl ether) [poly(2‐AdVE)] hard outer segments and poly(n‐butyl vinyl ether) [poly(NBVE)] soft inner segments were synthesized by sequential living cationic copolymerization. Although both the two polymer segments were composed solely of poly(vinyl ether) backbones and hydrocarbon side chains, they were segregated into microphase‐separated structure, so that the block copolymers formed thermoplastic elastomers. Both the ABA‐type triblock copolymers and the AB‐type star diblock copolymers exhibited rubber elasticity over wide temperature range. For example, the ABA‐type triblock copolymers showed rubber elasticity from about ?53 °C to about 165 °C and the AB‐type star diblock copolymer did from about ?47 °C to 183 °C with a similar composition of poly(2‐AdVE) and poly(NBVE) segments in the dynamic mechanical analysis. The AB‐type star diblock copolymers exhibited higher tensile strength and elongation at break than the ABA‐type triblock copolymers. The thermal decomposition temperatures of both the block copolymers were as high as 321–331 °C, indicating their high thermal stability. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
