CO(2) reforming of CH(4) on Ni(111) was investigated by using density functional theory. On the basis of thermodynamic analyses, the first step is CH(4) sequential dissociation into surface CH (CH(4) --> CH(3) --> CH(2) --> CH) and hydrogen, and CO(2) dissociation into surface CO and O (CO(2) --> CO + O). The second step is CH oxygenation into CHO (CH + O --> CHO), which is more favored than dissociation into C and hydrogen (CH --> C + H). The third step is the dissociation of CHO into surface CO and H (CHO --> CO + H). This can explain the enhanced selectivity toward the formation of CO and H(2) on Ni catalysts. It is found that surface carbon formation by the Bouduard back reaction (2CO = C((ads)) + CO(2)) is more favored than by CH(4) sequential dehydrogenation. The major problem of CO(2) reforming of CH(4) is the very strong CO adsorption on Ni(111), which results in the accumulation of CO on the surface and hinders the subsequent reactions and promotes carbon deposition. Therefore, promoting CO desorption should maintain the reactivity and stability of Ni catalysts. The computed energy barriers of the most favorable elementary reaction identify the CH(4) activation into CH(3) and H as the rate-determining step of CO(2) reforming of CH(4) on Ni(111), in agreement with the isotopic experimental results.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are carried out to investigate partial oxidation of propylene over neutral VO 3 clusters. C=C bond cleavage products CH 3CHO + VO 2CH 2 and HCHO + VO 2CHCH 3 can be formed overall barrierlessly from the reaction of propylene with VO 3 at room temperature. Formation of hydrogen transfer products H 2O + VO 2C 3H 4, CH 2=CHCHO + VO 2H 2, CH 3CH 2CHO + VO 2, and (CH 3) 2CO + VO 2 is subject to tiny (0.01 eV) or small (0.06 eV, 0.19 eV) overall free energy barriers, although their formation is thermodynamically more favorable than the formation of C=C bond cleavage products. These DFT results are in agreement with recent experimental observations. VO 3 regeneration processes at room temperature are also investigated through reaction of O 2 with the CC bond cleavage products VO 2CH 2 and VO 2CHCH 3. The following barrierless reaction channels are identified: VO 2CH 2 + O 2 --> VO 3 + CH 2O; VO 2CH 2 + O 2 --> VO 3C + H 2O, VO 3C + O 2 --> VO 3 + CO 2; VO 2CHCH 3 + O 2 --> VO 3 + CH 3CHO; and VO 2CHCH 3 + O 2 --> VO 3C + CH 3OH, VO 3C + O 2 --> VO 3 + CO 2. The kinetically most favorable reaction products are CH 3CHO, H 2O, and CO 2 in the gas phase model catalytic cycles. The results parallel similar behavior in the selective oxidation of propylene over condensed phase V 2O 5/SiO 2 catalysts.  相似文献

The potential energy surface for the O((3)P) + C(2)H(4) reaction, which plays an important role in C(2)H(4)/O(2) flames and in hydrocarbon combustion in general, was theoretically reinvestigated using various quantum chemical methods, including G3, CBS-QB3, G2M(CC,MP2), and MRCI. The energy surfaces of both the lowest-lying triplet and singlet electronic states were constructed. The primary product distribution for the multiwell multichannel reaction was then determined by RRKM statistical rate theory and weak-collision master equation analysis using the exact stochastic simulation method. Intersystem crossing of the "hot" CH(2)CH(2)O triplet adduct to the singlet surface, shown to account for about half of the products, was estimated to proceed at a rate of approximately 1.5 x 10(11) s(-1). In addition, the thermal rate coefficients k(O + C(2)H(4)) in the T = 200-2000 K range were computed using multistate transition state theory and fitted by a modified Arrhenius expression as k(T) = 1.69 x 10(-16) x T(1.66) x exp(-331 K/T) . Our computed rates and product distributions agree well with the available experimental results. Product yields are found to show a monotonic dependence on temperature. The major products (with predicted yields at T = 300 K/2000 K) are: CH(3) + CHO (48/37%), H + CH(2)CHO (40/19%), and CH(2)(X(3)B(1)) + H(2)CO (5/29%), whereas H + CH(3)CO, H(2) + H(2)CCO, and CH(4) + CO are all minor (< or =5%).  相似文献

We have used a heated 2 cm × 1 mm SiC microtubular (μtubular) reactor to decompose acetaldehyde: CH(3)CHO + Δ → products. Thermal decomposition is followed at pressures of 75-150 Torr and at temperatures up to 1675 K, conditions that correspond to residence times of roughly 50-100 μs in the μtubular reactor. The acetaldehyde decomposition products are identified by two independent techniques: vacuum ultraviolet photoionization mass spectroscopy (PIMS) and infrared (IR) absorption spectroscopy after isolation in a cryogenic matrix. Besides CH(3)CHO, we have studied three isotopologues, CH(3)CDO, CD(3)CHO, and CD(3)CDO. We have identified the thermal decomposition products CH(3) (PIMS), CO (IR, PIMS), H (PIMS), H(2) (PIMS), CH(2)CO (IR, PIMS), CH(2)=CHOH (IR, PIMS), H(2)O (IR, PIMS), and HC≡CH (IR, PIMS). Plausible evidence has been found to support the idea that there are at least three different thermal decomposition pathways for CH(3)CHO; namely, radical decomposition: CH(3)CHO + Δ → CH(3) + [HCO] → CH(3) + H + CO; elimination: CH(3)CHO + Δ → H(2) + CH(2)=C=O; isomerization∕elimination: CH(3)CHO + Δ → [CH(2)=CH-OH] → HC≡CH + H(2)O. An interesting result is that both PIMS and IR spectroscopy show compelling evidence for the participation of vinylidene, CH(2)=C:, as an intermediate in the decomposition of vinyl alcohol: CH(2)=CH-OH + Δ → [CH(2)=C:] + H(2)O → HC≡CH + H(2)O.  相似文献

The electronic energy barriers of surface reactions pertaining to the mechanism of the electrooxidation of methane on Pt (111) were estimated with density functional theory calculations on a 10-atom Pt cluster, using both the B3LYP and PW91 functionals. Optimizations of initial and transition states were performed for elementary steps that involve the conversion of CH(4) to adsorbed CO at the Pt/vacuum interface. As a first approximation we do not include electrolyte effects in our model. The reactions include the dissociative chemisorption of CH(4) on Pt, dehydrogenation reactions of adsorbed intermediates (*CH(x) --> *CH(x-1) + *H and *CH(x)O --> *CH(x-1)O + *H), and oxygenation reactions of adsorbed CH(x) species (*CH(x) + *OH --> *CH(x)OH). Many pathways were investigated and it was found that the main reaction pathway is CH(4) --> *CH(3) --> *CH(2) --> *CH --> *CHOH --> *CHO --> *CO. Frequency analysis and transition-state theory were employed to show that the methane chemisorption elementary step is rate-limiting in the above mechanism. This conclusion is in agreement with published experimental electrochemical studies of methane oxidation on platinum catalysts that have shown the absence of an organic adlayer at electrode potentials that allow the oxidation of adsorbed CO. The mechanism of the electrooxidation of methane on Pt is discussed.  相似文献

We investigated the dynamics of isomerization and multi-channel dissociation of propenal (CH(2)CHCHO), methyl ketene (CH(3)CHCO), hydroxyl propadiene (CH(2)CH(2)CHOH), and hydroxyl cyclopropene (cyclic-C(3)H(3)-OH) in the ground potential-energy surface using quantum-chemical calculations. Optimized structures and vibrational frequencies of molecular species were computed with method B3LYP∕6-311G(d,p). Total energies of molecules at optimized structures were computed at the CCSD(T)∕6-311+G(3df,2p) level of theory. We established the potential-energy surface for decomposition to CH(2)CHCO + H, CH(2)CH + HCO, CH(2)CH(2)∕CH(3)CH + CO, CHCH∕CH(2)C + H(2)CO, CHCCHO∕CH(2)CCO + H(2), CHCH + CO + H(2), CH(3) + HCCO, CH(2)CCH + OH, and CH(2)CC∕cyclic-C(3)H(2) + H(2)O. Microcanonical rate coefficients of various reactions of trans-propenal with internal energies 148 and 182 kcal mol(-1) were calculated using Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus and Variational transition state theories. Product branching ratios were derivable using numerical integration of kinetic master equations and the steady-state approximation. The concerted three-body dissociation of trans-propenal to fragments C(2)H(2) + CO + H(2) is the prevailing channel in present calculations. In contrast, C(3)H(3)O + H, C(2)H(3) + HCO and C(2)H(4) + CO were identified as major channels in the photolysis of trans-propenal. The discrepancy between calculations and experiments in product branching ratios indicates that the three major photodissociation channels occur mainly on an excited potential-energy surface whereas the other channels occur mainly on the ground potential-energy surface. This work provides profound insight in the mechanisms of isomerization and multichannel dissociation of the system C(3)H(4)O.  相似文献

Dissociations to alkane ions in gas phase ion chemistry are rare and poorly characterized. Therefore, the pathways to CH3CH3+* + CO from *CH2CH2O+=CH2 and some of its isomers are investigated by theory. The pathway found for this reaction is *CH2CH2O+=CH2 --> CH3CH2O+=CH* --> [CH3CH2- -H- -CO]+* --> CH3CH+* + CO. The crucial intermediate in this pathway is the stable hydrogen-bonded ion-neutral complex [CH3CH2- -H- -CO]+*, a species held together by a strong hydrogen bond. CH3CH3+* + CO rather than CH3CH3 + CO+* is formed from *CH2CH2O+=CH2 and other C3H6O+* ions because the former pair is much more stable than the latter. The photoionization appearance energies of CH3CH3+* from CH3CH2CHO+* and from CH3CH2CO2H+* demonstrate that the onsets of these reactions are at to just above their thermochemical thresholds, consistent with the intermediacy of ion-neutral complexes. We also found transition states for interconversion of CH3CH2CHO+* and CH3CH2O+=CH* and transformation of CH3CH2C:=OH+* to CH3CH2CHO+*; the latter reaction occurs by a 1,2-H-shift from O to C.  相似文献

The reactions of ground state Y (a(2)D) with H(2)CO and CH(3)CHO were studied at a range of collision energies in crossed molecular beams. For reaction with H(2)CO, three product channels were observed: formation of YH(2) + CO, YCO + H(2), and YHCO + H. Reaction with CH(3)CHO led to three analogous product channels involving formation of HYCH(3) + CO, YCH(2)CO + H(2), and YCH(3)CO + H. The calculated CCSD(T) energetics and DFT geometries for key intermediates in both reactions, together with RRKM theory, are used to calculate a priori the branching ratios between various product channels. These calculated values are compared to those obtained experimentally.  相似文献

The mutual sensitization of the oxidation of NO and a natural gas blend (methane-ethane 10:1) was studied experimentally in a fused silica jet-stirred reactor operating at 10 atm, over the temperature range 800-1160 K, from fuel-lean to fuel-rich conditions. Sonic quartz probe sampling followed by on-line FTIR analyses and off-line GC-TCD/FID analyses were used to measure the concentration profiles of the reactants, the stable intermediates, and the final products. A detailed chemical kinetic modeling of the present experiments was performed yielding an overall good agreement between the present data and this modeling. According to the proposed kinetic scheme, the mutual sensitization of the oxidation of this natural gas blend and NO proceeds through the NO to NO2 conversion by HO2, CH3O2, and C2H5O2. The detailed kinetic modeling showed that the conversion of NO to NO2 by CH3O2 and C2H5O2 is more important at low temperatures (ca. 820 K) than at higher temperatures where the reaction of NO with HO2 controls the NO to NO2 conversion. The production of OH resulting from the oxidation of NO by HO2, and the production of alkoxy radicals via RO2 + NO reactions promotes the oxidation of the fuel. A simplified reaction scheme was delineated: NO + HO2 --> NO2 + OH followed by OH + CH4 --> CH3 + H2O and OH + C2H6 --> C2H5 + H2O. At low-temperature, the reaction also proceeds via CH3 + O2 (+ M) --> CH3O2 (+ M); CH3O2 + NO --> CH3O + NO2 and C2H5 + O2 --> C2H5O2; C2H5O2 + NO --> C2H5O + NO2. At higher temperature, methoxy radicals are produced via the following mechanism: CH3 + NO2 --> CH3O + NO. The further reactions CH3O --> CH2O + H; CH2O + OH --> HCO + H2O; HCO + O2 --> HO2 + CO; and H + O2 + M --> HO2 + M complete the sequence. The proposed model indicates that the well-recognized difference of reactivity between methane and a natural gas blend is significantly reduced by addition of NO. The kinetic analyses indicate that in the NO-seeded conditions, the main production of OH proceeds via the same route, NO + HO2 --> NO2 + OH. Therefore, a significant reduction of the impact of the fuel composition on the kinetics of oxidation occurs.  相似文献

The crossed molecular beam scattering technique with soft electron ionization (EI) is used to disentangle the complex dynamics of the polyatomic O(3P) + C2H4 reaction, which is of great relevance in combustion and atmospheric chemistry. Exploiting the newly developed capability of attaining universal product detection by using soft EI, at a collision energy of 54.0 kJ mol(-1), five different primary products have been identified, which correspond to the five exoergic competing channels leading to CH2CHO(vinoxy) + H, CH3CO(acetyl) + H, CH3(methyl) + HCO(formyl), CH2(methylene) + HCHO(formaldehyde), and CH2CO(ketene) + H2. From laboratory product angular and velocity distributions, center-of-mass product angular and translational energy distributions and the relative branching ratios for each channel have been obtained, affording an unprecedented characterization of this important reaction.  相似文献

The thermal decomposition of acetaldehyde, CH3CHO + M --> CH3 + HCO + M (eq 1), and the reaction CH3CHO + H --> products (eq 6) have been studied behind reflected shock waves with argon as the bath gas and using H-atom resonance absorption spectrometry as the detection technique. To suppress consecutive bimolecular reactions, the initial concentrations were kept low (approximately 10(13) cm(-3)). Reaction was investigated at temperatures ranging from 1250 to 1650 K at pressures between 1 and 5 bar. The rate coefficients were determined from the initial slope of the hydrogen profile via k1 = [CH3CHO]0(-1) x d[H]/dt, and the temperature dependences observed can be expressed by the following Arrhenius equations: k1(T, 1.4 bar) = 2.9 x 10(14) exp(-38 120 K/T) s(-1), k1(T, 2.9 bar) = 2.8 x 10(14) exp(-37 170 K/T) s(-1), and k1(T, 4.5 bar) = 1.1 x 10(14) exp(-35 150 K/T) s(-1). Reaction was studied with C2H5I as the H-atom precursor under pseudo-first-order conditions with respect to CH3CHO in the temperature range 1040-1240 K at a pressure of 1.4 bar. For the temperature dependence of the rate coefficient the following Arrhenius equation was obtained: k6(T) = 2.6 x 10(-10) exp(-3470 K/T) cm(3) s(-1). Combining our results with low-temperature data published by other authors, we recommend the following expression for the temperature range 300-2000 K: k6(T) = 6.6 x 10(-18) (T/K) (2.15) exp(-800 K/T) cm(3) s(-1). The uncertainties of the rate coefficients k1 and k6 were estimated to be +/-30%.  相似文献

A series of reactions of the type Y. + XH(4) --> YH + .XH(3) and Y'. + HX(CH(3))(3) --> Y'H + .X(CH(3))(3), where Y = H, CH(3); Y' = CH(3), C(CH(3))(3); and X = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb are studied using state-of-the-art ab initio electronic structure methods. Second-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory; the coupled-cluster singles, doubles, and perturbative triples method; and density functional theory are used with correlation-consistent basis sets (cc-pVNZ, where N = D, T, Q) and their pseudopotential analogs (cc-pVNZ-PP) to determine the transition-state geometries, activation barriers, and thermodynamic properties of these reactions. Trends in the barrier heights as a function of the group IVA atom (Si, Ge, Sn, and Pb) are examined. With respect to kinetics and thermodynamics, the use of a hydrogen attached to a group IVA element as a possible hydrogen donation tool in the mechanosynthesis of diamondoids appears feasible.

Criegee intermediate is believed to play an important role in the atmospheric chemistry. Because of its short life and the difficulty in experimental study, we carried out ah initio calculations on the thermochemistry of the Criegee involving reactions in this study. Thermochemistry data of reaction enthalpies and Gibbs free energies for four different stable structures of the Criegee intermediates (singlet CH2OO ①1 A1 in C2v, triplet CH2OO ②3B1 in C2v, singlet CH2OO ③1A' in Cs and triplet CH2OO ④ in C1 symmetry) involved in some of the gas-phase reactions were calculated at the standard Gaussian-2 [G2(MP2) and G2] and a modified G2, G2(fu1)[10],levels of theory. Relative energies among those Criegees and formic acid were compared. Chemical reactions include the formation of Criegees, re-arrangement from Criegee to formic acid, dissociations (producing CH2(3B1)+O2, CH2(1A1)+O2, CO2+H2, CO2+2H, CO+H2O, OH+HCO) and the reactions between Criegee and NO/H2O. Standard equilibrium constants for some reactions were investigated and may be obtained for all of the rest reactions involved in this study by the standard Gibbs free energies. It is shown that the formation of Criegee ①-④ by ethylene and ozone, the re-arrangement from any Criegee to formic acid, the dissociation in producing CO2+O2and CO+H2O and the reactions between any Criegee and NO/H2O are all favourable thermodynamicaly. The dissociation in forming CO2+2H and OH+HCO is less favourable. While the dissociation in forming carbene (either in 3B1 or 1A1 state) is not allowed by ΔrGm? values. Standard enthalpies of formation at 298 K for the four Criegees were predicted at the G2(ful) level of theory. Each value is the average value from ten of the above reactions and they are -4.3, 74.8,98.9 and 244.6 kJ mol-1 at the G2(ful) level for Criegee ① to Criegee ④, respectively. In addition, tile standard enthalpy of formation at 298 K for HOCH2OOH is further predicted to be -315.6 kJ mol-1 at the G2(MP2) level.  相似文献

This work determines the dissociation barrier height for CH2CHCO --> CH2CH + CO using two-dimensional product velocity map imaging. The CH2CHCO radical is prepared under collision-free conditions from C-Cl bond fission in the photodissociation of acryloyl chloride at 235 nm. The nascent CH2CHCO radicals that do not dissociate to CH2CH + CO, about 73% of all the radicals produced, are detected using 157-nm photoionization. The Cl(2P(3/2)) and Cl(2P(1/2)) atomic fragments, momentum matched to both the stable and unstable radicals, are detected state selectively by resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization at 235 nm. By comparing the total translational energy release distribution P(E(T)) derived from the measured recoil velocities of the Cl atoms with that derived from the momentum-matched radical cophotofragments which do not dissociate, the energy threshold at which the CH2CHCO radicals begin to dissociate is determined. Based on this energy threshold and conservation of energy, and using calculated C-Cl bond energies for the precursor to produce CH2CHC*O or C*H2CHCO, respectively, we have determined the forward dissociation barriers for the radical to dissociate to vinyl + CO. The experimentally determined barrier for CH2CHC*O --> CH2CH + CO is 21+/-2 kcal mol(-1), and the computed energy difference between the CH2CHC*O and the C*H2CHCO forms of the radical gives the corresponding barrier for C*H2CHCO --> CH2CH + CO to be 23+/-2 kcal mol(-1). This experimental determination is compared with predictions from electronic structure methods, including coupled-cluster, density-functional, and composite Gaussian-3-based methods. The comparison shows that density-functional theory predicts too low an energy for the C*H2CHCO radical, and thus too high a barrier energy, whereas both the Gaussian-3 and the coupled-cluster methods yield predictions in good agreement with experiment. The experiment also shows that acryloyl chloride can be used as a photolytic precursor at 235 nm of thermodynamically stable CH2CHC*O radicals, most with an internal energy distribution ranging from approximately 3 to approximately 21 kcal mol(-1). We discuss the results with respect to the prior work on the O(3P) + propargyl reaction and the analogous O(3P) + allyl system.  相似文献

在CCSD(T)/6-311G(d,p)//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)+ZPE水平上对反应·CHCHCH3+NO进行了计算, 并建立了其单重态的反应势能面. 在该反应中, 分别找到生成P1(CH3CHO+HCN), P2(CH3CHO+HNC), P3(CH3CN+HCHO), P4(CH3CCH+HNO)的4条产物通道, 其中·CHCHCH3和NO中的氮原子直接连接形成m1(trans-CH3CHCHNO), m1经过顺反异构形成m2(cis-CH3CHCHNO), m2再经过CCNO四元环合, 然后发生环解离, 最后生成产物P1(CH3CHO+HCN)是最可行的产物通道, 其余三条通道为次要产物通道.

The visible absorption spectrum of the acetyl radical, CH(3)CO, was measured between 490 and 660 nm at 298 K using cavity ring-down spectroscopy. Gas-phase CH(3)CO radicals were produced using several methods including: (1) 248 nm pulsed laser photolysis of acetone (CH(3)C(O)CH(3)), methyl ethyl ketone (MEK, CH(3)C(O)CH(2)CH(3)), and biacetyl (CH(3)C(O)C(O)CH(3)), (2) Cl + CH(3)C(O)H --> CH(3)C(O) + HCl with Cl atoms produced via pulsed laser photolysis or in a discharge flow tube, and (3) OH + CH(3)C(O)H --> CH(3)CO + H(2)O with two different pulsed laser photolysis sources of OH radicals. The CH(3)CO absorption spectrum was assigned on the basis of the consistency of the spectra obtained from the different CH(3)CO sources and agreement of the measured rate coefficients for the reaction of the absorbing species with O(2) and O(3) with literature values for the CH(3)CO + O(2) + M and CH(3)CO + O(3) reactions. The CH(3)CO absorption spectrum between 490 and 660 nm has a broad peak centered near 535 nm and shows no discernible structure. The absorption cross section of CH(3)CO at 532 nm was measured to be (1.1 +/- 0.2) x 10(-19) cm(2) molecule(-1) (base e).  相似文献

Accurate quantum-mechanical results for thermodynamic data, cumulative reaction probabilities (for J = 0), thermal rate constants, and kinetic isotope effects for the three isotopic reactions H2 + CH3 --> CH4 + H, HD + CH3 --> CH4 + D, and D2 + CH3 --> CH(3)D + D are presented. The calculations are performed using flux correlation functions and the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree (MCTDH) method to propagate wave packets employing a Shephard interpolated potential energy surface based on high-level ab initio calculations. The calculated exothermicity for the H2 + CH3 --> CH4 + H reaction agrees to within 0.2 kcal/mol with experimentally deduced values. For the H2 + CH3 --> CH4 + H and D2 + CH3 --> CH(3)D + D reactions, experimental rate constants from several groups are available. In comparing to these, we typically find agreement to within a factor of 2 or better. The kinetic isotope effect for the rate of the H2 + CH3 --> CH4 + H reaction compared to those for the HD + CH3 --> CH4 + D and D2 + CH3 --> CH(3)D + D reactions agree with experimental results to within 25% for all data points. Transition state theory is found to predict the kinetic isotope effect accurately when the mass of the transferred atom is unchanged. On the other hand, if the mass of the transferred atom differs between the isotopic reactions, transition state theory fails in the low-temperature regime (T < 400 K), due to the neglect of the tunneling effect.  相似文献
