The efficient chemical conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) into value‐added fine chemicals is an intriguing but challenging route in sustainable chemistry. Herein, a hollow‐structured bimetallic zeolitic imidazole framework composed of Zn and Co as metal centers (H‐ZnCo‐ZIF) has been successfully prepared via a post‐synthetic strategy based on controllable chemical‐etching of the preformed solid ZnCo‐ZIF in tannic acid. The creation of hollow cavities inside each monocrystalline ZIFs could be achieved without destroying the intrinsic frameworks, as characterized by field‐emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X‐ray diffraction technologies. The as‐synthesized H‐ZnCo‐ZIF exhibited remarkable catalytic activity in the cycloaddition of CO2 with epoxides to the corresponding cyclic carbonates, outperforming the solid ZnCo‐ZIF analogue due to the improved mass transfer originating from the hollow structure. More importantly, due to stabilization of metal centers in the ZIF framework by the tannic acid shell, H‐ZnCo‐ZIF exhibited good recyclability, and no activity loss could be observed in six runs. The present study provides a simple and effective strategy to enhance the catalytic performance of ZIFs by creating a hollow structure via chemical etching.  相似文献

The electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECDRR), as a key reaction in artificial photosynthesis to implement renewable energy conversion/storage, has been inhibited by the low efficiency and high costs of the electrocatalysts. Herein, we synthesize a fluorine‐doped carbon (FC) catalyst by pyrolyzing commercial BP 2000 with a fluorine source, enabling a highly selective CO2‐to‐CO conversion with a maximum Faradaic efficiency of 90 % at a low overpotential of 510 mV and a small Tafel slope of 81 mV dec?1, outcompeting current metal‐free catalysts. Moreover, the higher partial current density of CO and lower partial current density of H2 on FC relative to pristine carbon suggest an enhanced inherent activity towards ECDRR as well as a suppressed hydrogen evolution by fluorine doping. Fluorine doping activates the neighbor carbon atoms and facilitates the stabilization of the key intermediate COOH* on the fluorine‐doped carbon material, which are also blocked for competing hydrogen evolution, resulting in superior CO2‐to‐CO conversion.  相似文献

Modular optimization of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) was realized by incorporation of coordinatively unsaturated single atoms in a MOF matrix. The newly developed MOF can selectively capture and photoreduce CO2 with high efficiency under visible‐light irradiation. Mechanistic investigation reveals that the presence of single Co atoms in the MOF can greatly boost the electron–hole separation efficiency in porphyrin units. Directional migration of photogenerated excitons from porphyrin to catalytic Co centers was witnessed, thereby achieving supply of long‐lived electrons for the reduction of CO2 molecules adsorbed on Co centers. As a direct result, porphyrin MOF comprising atomically dispersed catalytic centers exhibits significantly enhanced photocatalytic conversion of CO2, which is equivalent to a 3.13‐fold improvement in CO evolution rate (200.6 μmol g?1 h?1) and a 5.93‐fold enhancement in CH4 generation rate (36.67 μmol g?1 h?1) compared to the parent MOF.  相似文献

Associating a metal‐based catalyst to a carbon‐based nanomaterial is a promising approach for the production of solar fuels from CO2. Upon appending a CoII quaterpyridine complex [Co(qpy)]2+ at the surface of multi‐walled carbon nanotubes, CO2 conversion into CO was realized in water at pH 7.3 with 100 % catalytic selectivity and 100 % Faradaic efficiency, at low catalyst loading and reduced overpotential. A current density of 0.94 mA cm?2 was reached at ?0.35 V vs. RHE (240 mV overpotential), and 9.3 mA cm?2 could be sustained for hours at only 340 mV overpotential with excellent catalyst stability (89 095 catalytic cycles in 4.5 h), while 19.9 mA cm?2 was met at 440 mV overpotential. Such a hybrid material combines the high selectivity of a homogeneous molecular catalyst to the robustness of a heterogeneous material. Catalytic performances compare well with those of noble‐metal‐based nano‐electrocatalysts and atomically dispersed metal atoms in carbon matrices.  相似文献

The electrochemical reduction reaction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR) to carbon monoxide (CO) is the basis for the further synthesis of more complex carbon‐based fuels or attractive feedstock. Single‐atom catalysts have unique electronic and geometric structures with respect to their bulk counterparts, thus exhibiting unexpected catalytic activities. A nitrogen‐anchored Zn single‐atom catalyst is presented for CO formation from CO2RR with high catalytic activity (onset overpotential down to 24 mV), high selectivity (Faradaic efficiency for CO (FECO) up to 95 % at ?0.43 V), remarkable durability (>75 h without decay of FECO), and large turnover frequency (TOF, up to 9969 h?1). Further experimental and DFT results indicate that the four‐nitrogen‐anchored Zn single atom (Zn‐N4) is the main active site for CO2RR with low free energy barrier for the formation of *COOH as the rate‐limiting step.  相似文献

Single atoms immobilized on metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with unique nanostructures have drawn tremendous attention in the application of catalysis but remain a great challenge. Various single noble‐metal atoms have now been successfully anchored on the well‐defined anchoring sites of the zirconium porphyrin MOF hollow nanotubes, which are probed by aberration‐corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron‐radiation‐based X‐ray absorption fine‐structure spectroscopy. Owing to the hollow structure and excellent photoelectrochemical performance, the HNTM‐Ir/Pt exhibits outstanding catalytic activity in the visible‐light photocatalytic H2 evolution via water splitting. The single atom immobilized on MOFs with hollow structures are expected to pave the way to expand the potential applications of MOFs.  相似文献

Materials for high‐efficiency photocatalytic CO2 reduction are desirable for solar‐to‐carbon fuel conversion. Herein, highly dispersed nickel cobalt oxyphosphide nanoparticles (NiCoOP NPs) were confined in multichannel hollow carbon fibers (MHCFs) to construct the NiCoOP‐NPs@MHCFs catalysts for efficient CO2 photoreduction. The synthesis involves electrospinning, phosphidation, and carbonization steps and permits facile tuning of chemical composition. In the catalyst, the mixed metal oxyphosphide NPs with ultrasmall size and high dispersion offer abundant catalytically active sites for redox reactions. At the same time, the multichannel hollow carbon matrix with high conductivity and open ends will effectively promote mass/charge transfer, improve CO2 adsorption, and prevent the metal oxyphosphide NPs from aggregation. The optimized hetero‐metal oxyphosphide catalyst exhibits considerable activity for photosensitized CO2 reduction, affording a high CO evolution rate of 16.6 μmol h?1 (per 0.1 mg of catalyst).  相似文献

The electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) can dynamise the carbon cycle by lowering anthropogenic CO2 emissions and sustainably producing valuable fuels and chemical feedstocks. Methanol is arguably the most desirable C1 product of CO2RR, although it typically forms in negligible amounts. In our search for efficient methanol‐producing CO2RR catalysts, we have engineered Ag‐Zn catalysts by pulse‐depositing Zn dendrites onto Ag foams (PD‐Zn/Ag foam). By themselves, Zn and Ag cannot effectively reduce CO2 to CH3OH, while their alloys produce CH3OH with Faradaic efficiencies of approximately 1 %. Interestingly, with nanostructuring PD‐Zn/Ag foam reduces CO2 to CH3OH with Faradaic efficiency and current density values reaching as high as 10.5 % and ?2.7 mA cm?2, respectively. Control experiments and DFT calculations pinpoint strained undercoordinated Zn atoms as the active sites for CO2RR to CH3OH in a reaction pathway mediated by adsorbed CO and formaldehyde. Surprisingly, the stability of the *CHO intermediate does not influence the activity.  相似文献

We report a straightforward strategy to design efficient N doped porous carbon (NPC) electrocatalyst that has a high concentration of easily accessible active sites for the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). The NPC with large amounts of active N (pyridinic and graphitic N) and highly porous structure is prepared by using an oxygen‐rich metal–organic framework (Zn‐MOF‐74) precursor. The amount of active N species can be tuned by optimizing the calcination temperature and time. Owing to the large pore sizes, the active sites are well exposed to electrolyte for CO2RR. The NPC exhibits superior CO2RR activity with a small onset potential of ?0.35 V and a high faradaic efficiency (FE) of 98.4 % towards CO at ?0.55 V vs. RHE, one of the highest values among NPC‐based CO2RR electrocatalysts. This work advances an effective and facile way towards highly active and cost‐effective alternatives to noble‐metal CO2RR electrocatalysts for practical applications.  相似文献

The photoreduction of CO2 is attractive for the production of renewable fuels and the mitigation of global warming. Herein, we report an efficient method for CO2 reduction over elemental boron catalysts in the presence of only water and light irradiation through a photothermocatalytic process. Owing to its high solar‐light absorption and effective photothermal conversion, the illuminated boron catalyst experiences remarkable self‐heating. This process favors CO2 activation and also induces localized boron hydrolysis to in situ produce H2 as an active proton source and electron donor for CO2 reduction as well as boron oxides as promoters of CO2 adsorption. These synergistic effects, in combination with the unique catalytic properties of boron, are proposed to account for the efficiency of the CO2 reduction. This study highlights the promise of photothermocatalytic strategies for CO2 conversion and also opens new avenues towards the development of related solar‐energy utilization schemes.  相似文献

The solar‐driven photocatalytic reduction of CO2 (CO2RR) into chemical fuels is a promising route to enrich energy supplies and mitigate CO2 emissions. However, low catalytic efficiency and poor selectivity, especially in a pure‐water system, hinder the development of photocatalytic CO2RR owing to the lack of effective catalysts. Herein, we report a novel atom‐confinement and coordination (ACC) strategy to achieve the synthesis of rare‐earth single erbium (Er) atoms supported on carbon nitride nanotubes (Er1/CN‐NT) with a tunable dispersion density of single atoms. Er1/CN‐NT is a highly efficient and robust photocatalyst that exhibits outstanding CO2RR performance in a pure‐water system. Experimental results and density functional theory calculations reveal the crucial role of single Er atoms in promoting photocatalytic CO2RR.  相似文献

Electrocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) has recently received considerable attention as one of the most feasible CO2 utilization techniques. In particular, copper and copper‐derived catalysts have exhibited the ability to produce a number of organic molecules from CO2. Herein, we report a chloride (Cl)‐induced bi‐phasic cuprous oxide (Cu2O) and metallic copper (Cu) electrode (Cu2OCl) as an efficient catalyst for the formation of high‐carbon organic molecules by CO2 conversion, and identify the origin of electroselectivity toward the formation of high‐carbon organic compounds. The Cu2OCl electrocatalyst results in the preferential formation of multi‐carbon fuels, including n‐propanol and n‐butane C3–C4 compounds. We propose that the remarkable electrocatalytic conversion behavior is due to the favorable affinity between the reaction intermediates and the catalytic surface.  相似文献

Ni,N‐doped carbon catalysts have shown promising catalytic performance for CO2 electroreduction (CO2R) to CO; this activity has often been attributed to the presence of nitrogen‐coordinated, single Ni atom active sites. However, experimentally confirming Ni?N bonding and correlating CO2 reduction (CO2R) activity to these species has remained a fundamental challenge. We synthesized polyacrylonitrile‐derived Ni,N‐doped carbon electrocatalysts (Ni‐PACN) with a range of pyrolysis temperatures and Ni loadings and correlated their electrochemical activity with extensive physiochemical characterization to rigorously address the origin of activity in these materials. We found that the CO2R to CO partial current density increased with increased Ni content before plateauing at 2 wt % which suggests a dispersed Ni active site. These dispersed active sites were investigated by hard and soft X‐ray spectroscopy, which revealed that pyrrolic nitrogen ligands selectively bind Ni atoms in a distorted square‐planar geometry that strongly resembles the active sites of molecular metal–porphyrin catalysts.  相似文献

Electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) to value‐added products is a possible way to decrease the problems resulting from CO2 emission. Thanks to the eminent conductivity and proper adsorption to intermediates, Pd has become a promising candidate for CO2 electroreduction (CO2ER). However, Pd‐based nanocatalysts generally need a large overpotential. Herein we describe that ultrathin Pd nanosheets effectively reduce the onset potential for CO by exposing abundant atoms with comparatively low generalized coordination number. Hexagonal Pd nanosheets with 5 atomic thickness and 5.1 nm edge length reached CO faradaic efficiency of 94 % at ?0.5 V, without any decay after a stability test of 8 h. It appears to be the most efficient among all of Pd‐based catalysts toward CO2ER. Uniform hexagonal morphology made it reasonable to build models and take DFT calculations. The enhanced activity originates from mainly edge sites on palladium nanosheets.  相似文献

Two types of templates, an active metal salt and silica nanoparticles, are used concurrently to achieve the facile synthesis of hierarchical meso/microporous FeCo‐Nx‐carbon nanosheets (meso/micro‐FeCo‐Nx‐CN) with highly dispersed metal sites. The resulting meso/micro‐FeCo‐Nx‐CN shows high and reversible oxygen electrocatalytic performances for both ORR and OER, thus having potential for applications in rechargeable Zn–air battery. Our approach creates a new pathway to fabricate 2D meso/microporous structured carbon architectures for bifunctional oxygen electrodes in rechargeable Zn–air battery as well as opens avenues to the scale‐up production of rationally designed heteroatom‐doped catalytic materials for a broad range of applications.  相似文献

Metal‐free systems, including frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) have been shown to bind CO2. By reducing the Lewis acidity and basicity of the ambiphilic system, it is possible to generate active catalysts for the deoxygenative hydroboration of carbon dioxide to methanol derivatives with conversion rates comparable to those of transition‐metal‐based catalysts.  相似文献

Metal–CO2 batteries have attracted much attention owing to their high energy density and use of greenhouse CO2 waste as the energy source. However, the increasing cost of lithium and the low discharge potential of Na–CO2 batteries create obstacles for practical applications of Li/Na–CO2 batteries. Recently, earth‐abundant potassium ions have attracted considerable interest as fast ionic charge carriers for electrochemical energy storage. Herein, we report the first K–CO2 battery with a carbon‐based metal‐free electrocatalyst. The battery shows a higher theoretical discharge potential (E?=2.48 V) than that of Na–CO2 batteries (E?=2.35 V) and can operate for more than 250 cycles (1500 h) with a cutoff capacity of 300 mA h g?1. Combined DFT calculations and experimental observations revealed a reaction mechanism involving the reversible formation and decomposition of P121/c1‐type K2CO3 at the efficient carbon‐based catalyst.  相似文献

A surface‐restructuring strategy is presented that involves self‐cleaning Cu catalyst electrodes with unprecedented catalytic stability toward CO2 reduction. Under the working conditions, the Pd atoms pre‐deposited on Cu surface induce continuous morphological and compositional restructuring of the Cu surface, which constantly refreshes the catalyst surface and thus maintains the catalytic properties for CO2 reduction to hydrocarbons. The Pd‐decorated Cu electrode can catalyze CO2 reduction with relatively stable selectivity and current density for up to 16 h, which is one of the best catalytic durability performances among all Cu electrocatalysts for effective CO2 conversion to hydrocarbons. The generality of this approach of utilizing foreign metal atoms to induce surface restructuring toward stabilizing Cu catalyst electrodes against deactivation by carbonaceous species accumulation in CO2 reduction is further demonstrated by replacing Pd with Rh.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) including the UiO‐66 series show potential application in the adsorption and conversion of CO2. Herein, we report the first tetravalent metal‐based metal–organic gels constructed from ZrIV and 2‐aminoterephthalic acid (H2BDC‐NH2). The ZrBDC‐NH2 gel materials are based on UiO‐66‐NH2 nanoparticles and were easily prepared under mild conditions (80 °C for 4.5 h). The ZrBDC‐NH2‐1:1‐0.2 gel material has a high surface area (up to 1040 m2 g?1) and showed outstanding performance in CO2 adsorption (by using the dried material) and conversion (by using the wet gel) arising from the combined advantages of the gel and the UiO‐66‐NH2 MOF. The ZrBDC‐NH2‐1:1‐0.2 dried material showed 38 % higher capture capacity for CO2 at 298 K than microcrystalline UiO‐66‐NH2. It showed high ideal adsorbed solution theory selectivity (71.6 at 298 K) for a CO2/N2 gas mixture (molar ratio 15:85). Furthermore, the ZrBDC‐NH2‐1:1‐0.2 gel showed activity as a heterogeneous catalyst in the chemical fixation of CO2 and an excellent catalytic performance was achieved for the cycloaddition of atmospheric pressure of CO2 to epoxides at 373 K. In addition, the gel catalyst could be reused over multiple cycles with no considerable loss of catalytic activity.  相似文献

Heteroatom‐doped polymers or carbon nanospheres have attracted broad research interest. However, rational synthesis of these nanospheres with controllable properties is still a great challenge. Herein, we develop a template‐free approach to construct cross‐linked polyphosphazene nanospheres with tunable hollow structures. As comonomers, hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene provides N and P atoms, tannic acid can coordinate with metal ions, and the replaceable third comonomer can endow the materials with various properties. After carbonization, N/P‐doped mesoporous carbon nanospheres were obtained with small particle size (≈50 nm) and high surface area (411.60 m2 g?1). Structural characterization confirmed uniform dispersion of the single atom transition metal sites (i.e., Co‐N2P2) with N and P dual coordination. Electrochemical measurements and theoretical simulations revealed the oxygen reduction reaction performance. This work provides a solution for fabricating diverse heteroatom‐containing polymer nanospheres and their derived single metal atom doped carbon catalysts.  相似文献
