Polynitrohexaazaadamantanes (PNHAAs) have been the subject of much recent research because of their potential as high energy density materials (HEDMs). The B3LYP/6-31G method was employed to evaluate the heats of formation (HOFs) for PNHAAs by designing isodesmic reactions. The HOFs are found to be correlative with the number (n) and the space orientations of nitro groups. Detonation velocities (D) and detonation pressures (P) were estimated for PNHAAs by using the well-known Kamlet-Jacobs equations, based on the theoretical densities (rho) and HOFs. It is found that D and P increase as n ranges from 1 to 6, and PNHAAs with 4-6 nitro groups meet the criteria of an HEDM. When n is over 6, rho of PNHAAs slightly increases; however, the chemical energy of detonation (Q) decreases so greatly that both D and P decrease. The calculations on bond dissociation energies suggest that the N-N bond be the trigger bond during the pyrolysis initiation process of each PNHAA, and with increasing n, N-N bond dissociation energy (E(N-N)) decreases on the whole, that is to say, the relative stability of PNHAAs decreases. All E(N-N)(s) of PNHAAs are more than 30 kcal.mol(-1), which further proves that four PNHAAs with 4-6 nitro groups can be used as the candidates of HEDMs. Considering the synthesis difficulty and the performance as an energetic compound, we finally recommended 2,4,6,8,10-pentanitrohexaazaadamantane as the target HEDM for PNHAAs.  相似文献

A series of derivatives of pyridazine were designed through substituting hydrogens on the pyridazine ring with nitro groups. To explore the thermal stability of the title molecules, heats of formation, bond dissociation energies, and bond orders were calculated at the B3PW91/6-311+G(d,p) level. To confirm the potential usage as high energy density compounds, the detonation pressure and detonation velocity were predicted by using the empirical Kamlet-Jacobs(K-J) equation. Based on our calculated results, both thermal and kinetic stabilities of the title molecules are confirmed with good detonation characters. Especially, 3,4,5-trinitropyridazide and 3,4,6-trinitropyridazide represent excellent detonation parameters better than 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane(RDX) and are screened out as potential high energy density compounds.  相似文献

Decarboxylation of 1-bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanecarboxylate anion does not afford 1-bicyclo[1.1.1]pentyl anion as previously assumed. Instead, a ring-opening isomerization which ultimately leads to 1,4-pentadien-2-yl anion takes place. A 1-bicyclo[1.1.1]pentyl anion was prepared nevertheless via the fluoride-induced desilylation of 1-tert-butyl-3-(trimethylsilyl)bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane. The electron affinity of 3-tert-butyl-1-bicyclo[1.1.1]pentyl radical (14.8 plus minus 3.2 kcal/mol) was measured by bracketing, and the acidity of 1-tert-butylbicyclo[1.1.1]pentane (408.5 +/- 0.9) was determined by the DePuy kinetic method. These values are well-reproduced by G2 and G3 calculations and can be combined in a thermodynamic cycle to provide a bridgehead C-H bond dissociation energy (BDE) of 109.7 +/- 3.3 kcal/mol for 1-tert-butylbicyclo[1.1.1]pentane. This bond energy is the strongest tertiary C-H bond to be measured, is much larger than the corresponding bond in isobutane (96.5 +/- 0.4 kcal/mol), and is more typical of an alkene or aromatic compound. The large BDE can be explained in terms of hybridization.  相似文献

Density functional theory calculations were performed to find comprehensive relationships between the structures and performance of a series of highly energetic cyclic nitramines. The isodesmic reaction method was employed to estimate the heat of formation. The detonation properties were evaluated by using the Kamlet-Jacobs equations based on the theoretical densities and HOFs. Results indicate the N-NO(2) group and aza N atom are effective substituents for enhancing the detonation performance. All cyclic nitramines except C11 and C21 exhibit better detonation performance than HMX. The decomposition mechanism and thermal stability of these cyclic nitramines were analyzed via the bond dissociation energies. For most of these nitramines, the homolysis of N-NO(2) is the initial step in the thermolysis, and the species with the bridged N-N bond are more sensitive than others. Considering the detonation performance and thermal stability, twelve derivatives may be the promising candidates of high energy density materials (HEDMs). The results of this study may provide basic information for the further study of this kind of compounds and molecular design of novel HEDMs.  相似文献

Density functional theory method was used to study the heats of formation (HOFs), electronic structure, energetic properties, and thermal stability for a series of bridged ditetrazole derivatives with different linkages and substituent groups. The results show that the ? N3 group and azo bridge (? N?N? ) play a very important role in increasing the HOF values of the ditetrazole derivatives. The effects of the substituents on the HOMO–LUMO gap are combined with those of the bridge groups. The calculated detonation velocities and detonation pressures indicate that the ? NO2, ? NF2, ? N?N? , or ? N(O)?N? group is an effective structural unit for enhancing the detonation performance for the derivatives. An analysis of the bond dissociation energies for several relatively weak bonds suggests that the N? N bond in the ring or outside the ring is the weakest one and the N? N cleavage is possible to happen in thermal decomposition. Overall, the ? CH2? CH2? or ? NH? NH? group is an effective bridge for enhancing the thermal stability of the bridged ditetrazoles. Because of their desirable detonation performance and thermal stability, five compounds may be considered as the potential candidates of high‐energy density materials (HEDMs). These results provide basic information for the molecular design of novel HEDMs. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Comput Chem, 2011  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) method has been employed to study the geometric and electronic structures of a series of four-membered ring compounds at the B3LYP/6-311G** and the B3P86/6-311G** levels. In the isodesmic reactions designed for the computation of heats of formation (HOFs), 3,3-dimethyl-oxetane, azetidine, and cyclobutane were chosen as reference compounds. The HOFs for N(3) substituted derivations are larger than those of oxetane compounds with --ONO2 and/or --NF2 substituent groups. The HOFs for oxetane with --ONO2 and/or --NF2 substituent groups are negative, while the HOFs for N3 substituted derivations are positive. For azetidine compounds, the substituent groups within the azetidine ring affect the HOFs, which increase as the difluoroamino group being replaced by the nitro group. The magnitudes of intramolecular group interactions were predicted through the disproportionation energies. The strain energy (SE) for the title compounds has been calculated using homodesmotic reactions. For azetidine compounds, the NF2 group connecting N atom in the ring decrease the SE of title compounds. Thermal stability were evaluated via bond dissociation energies (BDE) at the UB3LYP/6-311G** level. For the oxetane compounds, the O--NO2 bond is easier to break than that of the ring C--C bond. For the azetidine and cyclobutane compounds, the homolyses of C--NX2 and/or N--NX2 (X = O, F) bonds are primary step for bond dissociation. Detonation properties of the title compounds were evaluated by using the Kamlet-Jacobs equation based on the calculated densities and HOFs. It is found that 1,1-dinitro-3,3-bis(difluoroamino)-cyclobutane, with predicted density of ca. 1.9 g/cm(3), detonation velocity (D) over 9 km/s, and detonation pressure (P) of 41 GPa that are lager than those of TNAZ, is expected to be a novel candidate of high energy density materials (HEDMs). The detonation data of nitro-BDFAA and TNCB are also close to the requirements for HEDMs.  相似文献

Density functional theory has been used to investigate geometries, heats of formation (HOFs), C-NO2 bond dissociation energies (BDEs), and relative energetic properties of nitro derivatives of azole substituted furan. HOFs for a series of molecules were calculated by using density functional theory (DFT) and Møller–Plesset (MP2) methods. The density is predicted using crystal packing calculations; all the designed compounds show density above 1.71 g/cm3. The calculated detonation velocities and detonation pressures indicate that the nitro group is very helpful for enhancing the detonation performance for the designed compounds. Thermal stabilities have been evaluated from the bond dissociation energies. Charge on the nitro group was used to assess the impact sensitivity in this study. According to the results of the calculations, tri- and tetra-nitro substituted derivatives reveal high performance with better thermal stability.  相似文献

Density function theory (DFT) has been employed to study the geometric and electronic structures of a series of spiro nitramines at the B3LYP/6-31G level. The calculated results agree reasonably with available experimental data. Thermodynamic properties derived from the infrared spectra on the basis of statistical thermodynamic principles are linearly correlated with the number of nitramine groups as well as the temperature. Detonation performances were evaluated by the Kamlet-Jacobs equations based on the calculated densities and heats of formation. It is found that some compounds with the predicted densities of ca. 1.9 g/cm3, detonation velocities over 9 km/s, and detonation pressures of about 39 GPa (some even over 40 GPa) may be novel potential candidates of high energy density materials (HEDMs). Thermal stability and the pyrolysis mechanism of the title compounds were investigated by calculating the bond dissociation energies (BDE) at the B3LYP/6-31G level and the activation energies (E(a)) with the selected PM3 semiempirical molecular orbital (MO) based on the unrestricted Hartree-Fock model. The relationships between BDE, E(a), and the electronic structures of the spiro nitramines were discussed in detail. Thermal stabilities and decomposition mechanisms of the title compounds derived from the B3LYP/6-31G BDE and the UHF-PM3 E(a) are basically consistent. Considering the thermal stability, TNSHe (tetranitrotetraazaspirohexane), TNSH (tetranitrotetraazaspiroheptane), and TNSO (tetranitrotetraazaspirooctane) are recommended as the preferred candidates of HEDMs. These results may provide basic information for the molecular design of HEDMs.  相似文献

The characters of high density and high heat of formation of cage molecules have attracted a lot of investigations as potential energetic materials. Several such compounds have been synthesized, e.g., octanitrocubane, hexanitrohexaazaisowurzitane (CL-20), and 4-trinitroethyl-2, 6, 8, 10, 12-pentanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane(TNE-CL-20). In the present study, a new cage compound, namely 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13-heptaazatetracyclo [5.5.1.03,11.05,9] tridecane (HATT), was proposed. Density functional theory has been employed to study the geometric and electronic structures for a series of nitro derivatives of HATT at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level. Thermodynamic properties derived on the basis of statistical thermodynamic principles are linearly correlated with the numbers of nitro group as well as the temperature. Detonation performance was evaluated based on the calculated densities and heats of formation. It is found that some title compounds have high densities of ca. 1.9 g cm?3, detonation velocities over 9.0 km s?1, and detonation pressures of about 40.0 GPa and may be novel potential candidates of high energy density compounds (HEDCs). Thermal stability and pyrolysis mechanism of the nitro HATTs were investigated by calculating the bond dissociation energies (BDE). In conjunction with the detonation performance and thermal stability, HATTs with no less than five nitro groups are recommended as the preferred candidates of HEDCs. These results provide basic information for the further studies of cage compounds.  相似文献

The identification of trigger bonds, bonds that break to initiate explosive decomposition, using computational methods could help direct the development of novel, “green” and efficient high energy density materials (HEDMs). Comparing bond densities in energetic materials to reference molecules using Wiberg bond indices (WBIs) provides a relative scale for bond activation (%ΔWBIs) to assign trigger bonds in a set of 63 nitroaromatic conventional energetic molecules. Intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions enhance contributions of resonance structures that strengthen, or deactivate, the C NO2 trigger bonds and reduce the sensitivity of nitroaniline‐based HEDMs. In contrast, unidirectional hydrogen bonding in nitrophenols strengthens the bond to the hydrogen bond acceptor, but the phenol lone pairs repel and activate an adjacent nitro group. Steric effects, electron withdrawing groups and greater nitro dihedral angles also activate the C NO2 trigger bonds. %ΔWBIs indicate that nitro groups within an energetic molecule are not all necessarily equally activated to contribute to initiation. %ΔWBIs generally correlate well with impact sensitivity, especially for HEDMs with intramolecular hydrogen bonding, and are a better measure of trigger bond strength than bond dissociation energies (BDEs). However, the method is less effective for HEDMs with significant secondary effects in the solid state. Assignment of trigger bonds using %ΔWBIs could contribute to understanding the effect of intramolecular interactions on energetic properties. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Density functional theory (DFT) method has been employed to study the effect of nitroamino group as a substituent in cyclopentane and cyclohexane, which usually construct the polycyclic or caged nitra-mines. Molecular structures were investigated at the B3LYP/6-31G** level, and isodesmic reactions were designed for calculating the group interactions. The results show that the group interactions ac-cord with the group additivity, increasing with the increasing number of nitroamino groups. The dis-tance between substituents influences the interactions. Detonation performances were evaluated by the Kamlet-Jacobs equations based on the predicted densities and heats of formation, while thermal stability and pyrolysis mechanism were studied by the computations of bond dissociation energy (BDE). It is found that the contributions of nitroamino groups to the detonation heat, detonation velocity, detonation pressure, and stability all deviate from the group additivity. Only 3a, 3b, and 9a-9c may be novel potential candidates of high energy density materials (HEDMs) according to the quantitative cri-teria of HEDM (ρ≈ 1.9 g/cm3, D ≈ 9.0 km/s, P ≈ 40.0 GPa). Stability decreases with the increasing number of N-NO2 groups, and homolysis of N-NO2 bond is the initial step in the thermolysis of the title com-pounds. Coupled with the demand of thermal stability (BDE > 20 kcal/mol), only 1,2,4-trinitrotriazacy-clohexane and 1,2,4,5-tetranitrotetraazacyclohexane are suggested as feasible energetic materials. These results may provide basic information for the molecular design of HEDMs.  相似文献

The tetrazole is an important functionality of the most of energetic materials due to 80% nitrogen content, stability, and high enthalpy of formation. The present structure–property relationship study focuses on the optimized geometries of tetrazole derivatives obtained from density functional theory (DFT) calculations at B3LYP/6-31G* levels. The heat of formation (HOF) of tetrazole derivatives have been calculated by designing the appropriate isodesmic reactions. The increase in nitro groups on azole rings shows the remarkable increase in HOF. Density has been predicted by using CVFF force field. Increase in the nitro group increases the density. Detonation properties of the designed compounds were evaluated by using the Kamlet–Jacobs equation based on predicted densities and HOFs. Designed tetrazole derivatives show detonation velocity (D) over 8 km/s and detonation pressure (P) of about 32 GPa. Thermal stability was evaluated via bond dissociation energies (BDE) of the weakest C–NO2 bond at B3LYP/6-31G* level. Charge on the nitro group has been used to assess the sensitivity correlation. Overall, the study implies that designed compounds of this series are found to be stable and expected to be the novel candidates of high energy materials (HEMs).  相似文献

The series of nitro-triaziridines had been studied as high-energy density compounds at B3LYP/6-311G** and MP2/6-311G** levels by means of density functional theory. The heats of formation (HOFs), bond dissociation energies, and detonation performance had been calculated in detail. It was found that all nitro-triaziridines have high position HOFs, and electron-withdrawing of nitro, the steric hindrance, and abundant N–N bond had positive effect with increasing values of HOFs. The thermodynamic stability is estimated by bond dissociation energy and available free space per molecule in unit cell. The detonation performance had been estimated via Kamlet–Jacobs equation and relative specific, However, two different consequences were obtained for detonation performance. Hence, for nitro-triaziridines derivatives, we assumed that a large number of extra oxygen was produced in combustion reaction or explosive reaction, which was negative for the energy released. Therefore, the oxygen balance must be considered for designing high-energy compounds. We also assumed that the Kamlet–Jacobs equation may not be applicable for the compounds, which was constituted of only oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen elements.  相似文献

N‐diazo‐bridged azoles were synthesized based on oxidative coupling of N‐aminoazoles. Incorporation of extended catenated nitrogen‐atom chains with nitro groups led to compounds with favorable functional compatibilities. This combination gives rise to a series of high‐density energetic materials (HEDMs) with high heats of formation, enhanced densities, positive oxygen balances, and good detonation properties while retaining excellent thermal stabilities and relatively low impact sensitivities. Calculated and experimental studies showed the delicate balance between the length of the nitrogen atom chain, energetic performance, and inherent stability, thus, providing a promising strategy for designing advanced energetic materials.  相似文献

The molecular structure, heats of formation, energetic properties, strain energy and thermal stability for a series of substituted difurazano[3,4-b:3′,4′-e]piperazines and their analogues were studied using density functional theory. The results show that it is a useful way to increase the heat of formation values of energetic compounds by incorporating a five- or six-membered aromatic heterocycle to construct a fused ring system. The calculated detonation properties reveal that introducing one heterocycle to construct a fused ring structure greatly enhances their detonation properties. The substitution of the –NF2, –NO2 or –NHNO2 group is very useful for enhancing the detonation performance for the substituted derivatives. According to molecular structure and natural bond orbital analysis, the introduction of the –NO2, –NF2 or –NHNO2 group decreases the stability of the substituted derivative. There is a weak N–NO2 bond conjugation in the NO2-substituted derivatives. An analysis of the bond dissociation energies for several relatively weak bonds suggests that all the unsubstituted derivatives have good thermal stability, but the substitution of –NO2 or –NF2 remarkably decreases their stability. Considering the detonation performance and thermal stability, eight compounds may be considered as the potential candidates of high-energy density materials with less sensitivity.  相似文献

In order to study the properties of new energetic compounds formed by introducing nitroazoles into 2,4,6-trinitrobezene, the density, heat of formation and detonation properties of 36 nitro-1-(2,4,6-trinitrobenzene)-1H-azoles energetic compounds are studied by density functional theory, and their stability and melting point are predicted. The results show that most of target compounds have good detonation properties and stability. And it is found that nitro-1-(2,4,6-Trinitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole compounds and nitro-1-(2,4,6-trinitrop-enyl)-1H-Imidazole compounds have good thermal stability, and their weakest bond is C NO2 bond, the bond dissociation energy of the weakest bond is 222–238 kJ mol−1 and close to 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (235 kJ mol−1). The weakest bond of the other compounds may be the C NO2 bond or the N N bond, and the strength of the N N bond is related to the nitro group on azole ring.  相似文献

Ninety‐one nitro and hydroxyl derivatives of benzene were studied at the B3LYP/6‐31G?? level of density functional theory. Detonation properties were calculated using the Kamlet‐Jacobs equation. Three candidates (pentanitrophenol, pentanitrobenzene, and hexanitrobenzene) were recommended as potential high energy density compounds for their perfect detonation performances and reasonable stability. The pyrolysis mechanism was studied by analyzing the bond dissociation energy (BDE) and the activation energy (Ea) of hydrogen transfer (H–T) reaction for those with adjacent nitro and hydroxyl groups. The results show that Ea is much lower than BDEs of all bonds, so when there are adjacent nitro and hydroxyl groups in a molecule, the stability of the compound will decrease and the pyrolysis will be initiated by the H–T process. Otherwise, the pyrolysis will start from the breaking of the weakest C–NO2 bond, and only under such condition, the Mulliken population or BDE of the C–NO2 bond can be used to assess the relative stability of the compound.  相似文献

Hyperconjugative and electrostatic interactions effects on 1J(CH) spin-spin coupling constants (SSCCs) are critically studied from both theoretical and experimental points of view. A qualitative model is used to predict how the former affect such SSCCs, while electrostatic interactions are modeled with a point charge placed in the vicinity of the corresponding sigma(CH) bond. Hyperconjugative interactions are calculated using the "natural bond orbital" approach, and using the point-charge model, it is shown how intertwined are both types of interactions. Several members of the series 1-X-bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane and 1-X-3-methylbicyclo[1.1.1]pentane are chosen as model compounds for measuring 1J(CH) SSCCs; in some of them were performed also DFT-SSCC calculations. The strained cage substrate in these series defines strong sigma-hyperconjugative interactions, making these compounds excellent examples to verify the qualitative model presented in this work. It is verified that (a) hyperconjugative interactions from the sigma(CH) bond or into the sigma(CH) antibond containing the coupling nuclei yield a decrease of the corresponding 1J(CH) SSCC and (b) hyperconjugative interactions from other bonds involving the coupling C nucleus yield an increase of that 1J(CH) SSCC.  相似文献
