The propagator matrix method is used in this paper to study the vibration of a transversely isotropic, simply supported and layered rectangular plate. A new system of vector functions is constructed to deal with general surface loading, and general solutions and layer matrices of exact closed form are obtained in this system. The particular solution for forced vibration, and the characteristic equations for free vibration of various surface conditions are then obtained by simple multiplication of layer matrices. These results are presented in such a way that the dilatational and distortional modes of vibration are separated. As a special case of the layered plate, results for the corresponding homogeneous thick plate are also derived. They are presented in a very simple form, and contain the previous results for the static transversely isotropic and the dynamic isotropic plates.  相似文献

This paper considers the bending of transversely isotropic circular plates with elastic compliance coefficients being arbitrary functions of the thickness coordinate, subject to a transverse load in the form of qrk (k is zero or a finite even number). The differential equations satisfied by stress functions for the particular problem are derived. An elaborate analysis procedure is then presented to derive these stress functions, from which the analytical expressions for the axial force, bending moment and displacements are obtained through integration. The method is then applied to the problem of transversely isotropic functionally graded circular plate subject to a uniform load, illustrating the procedure to determine the integral constants from the boundary conditions. Analytical elasticity solutions are presented for simply-supported and clamped plates, and, when degenerated, they coincide with the available solutions for an isotropic homogenous plate. Two numerical examples are finally presented to show the effect of material inhomogeneity on the elastic field in FGM plates.  相似文献

Green’s functions of a transversely isotropic half-space overlaid by a thin coating layer are analytically obtained. The surface coating is modeled by a Kirchhoff thin plate perfectly bonded to the half-space. With the aid of superposition technique and employing appropriate displacement potential functions, the Green’s functions are expressed in two parts; (i) a closed-form part corresponding to the transversely isotropic half-space with surface kinematic constraints, and (ii) a numerically evaluated part reflecting the interaction between the half-space and the plate in the form of semi-infinite integrals. Some limiting cases of the problem such as surface-stiffened isotropic half-space, Boussinesq and Cerruti loadings, and extremely flexible and rigid plates are also studied. For the classical Cerruti problem in transversely isotropic materials, the effects of incompressibility are highlighted. Numerical results are provided to show the effects of material anisotropy, relative stiffness factor, and load buried depth. The obtained Green’s functions play a key role in treating further mixed-boundary-value problems in surface stiffened transversely isotropic half-spaces.  相似文献

Based on the three-dimensional elasticity equations, this paper studies the elastic bending response of a transversely isotropic functionally graded solid circular plate subject to transverse biharmonic forces applied on its top surface. The material properties can continuously and arbitrarily vary along the thickness direction. By virtue of the generalized England’s method, the problem can be solved by determining the expressions of four analytic functions. Expanding the transverse load in Fourier series along the circumferential direction eases the theoretical construction of the four analytic functions for a series of important biharmonic loads. Certain boundary conditions are then used to determine the unknown constants that are involved in the four constructed analytic functions. Numerical examples are presented to validate the proposed method. Then, we scrutinize the asymmetric bending behavior of a transversely isotropic functionally graded solid circular plate with different geometric and material parameters.  相似文献

Two refined displacement models, RSDT1 and RSDT2, are developed for a bending analysis of functionally graded sandwich plates. Unlike any other theory, the number of unknown functions involved is only four, as against five in case of other shear deformation theories. The developed models are variationally consistent, have strong similarity with classical plate theory in many aspects, do not require shear correction factor, and give rise to transverse shear stress variation such that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness satisfying shear stress-free surface conditions. The accuracy of the analysis presented is demonstrated by comparing the results with solutions derived from other higher-order models. The functionally graded layers are assumed to have isotropic, two-constituent material distribution through the thickness, and the modulus of elasticity, Poisson’s ratio of the faces, and thermal expansion coefficients are assumed to vary according to a power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic ceramic material. Numerical results for deflections and stresses of functionally graded metal–ceramic plates are investigated. It can be concluded that the proposed models are accurate and simple in solving the bending behavior of functionally graded plates.  相似文献

The plate theory of functionally graded materials suggested by Mian and Spencer is extended to analyze the cylindrical bending problem of a functionally graded rectangular plate subject to uniform load. The expansion formula for displacements is adopted. While keeping the assumption that the material parameters can vary along the thickness direction in an arbitrary fashion, this paper considers orthotropic materials rather than isotropic materials. In addition, the traction-free condition on the top surface is replaced with the condition of uniform load applied on the top surface. The plate theory for the particular case Of cylindrical bending is presented by considering an infinite extent in the y-direction. Effects of boundary conditions and material inhomogeneity on the static response of functionally graded plates are investigated through a numerical example.  相似文献

For plate bending in one-dimensional (1D) hexagonal quasicrystals (QCs), the reciprocal theorem and the general solution for QCs media are applied in a novel way to obtain the appropriate stress and mixed boundary conditions accurate to all order for plates of general edge geometry and loadings. Through generalizing the method developed by Gregory and Wan, a set of necessary conditions on the edge-data for the existence of a rapidly decaying solution is established. The prescribed data must satisfy these conditions in order that they should generate a decaying state. When a set of stress edge-data or mixed edge-data is imposed on the plate edge, these decaying state conditions for the case of axisymmetric deformation of 1D hexagonal QC plates are derived explicitly. They are then used for the correct formulation of boundary conditions for the plate theory solution (or the interior solution). Furthermore, in the absence of phonon–phason fields coupling effect, corresponding necessary conditions for the case of transversely isotropic elastic plates are derived subsequently, and their isotropic elastic counterparts are also obtained.   相似文献

This paper deals with a two dimensional problem for a transversely isotropic thick plate having heat source. The upper surface of the plate is stress free with prescribed surface temperature while the lower surface of the plate rests on a rigid foundation and is thermally insulated. The study is carried out in the context of generalized thermoelasticity proposed by Green and Naghdi. The governing equations for displacement and temperature fields are obtained in Laplace–Fourier transform domain by applying Laplace and Fourier transform techniques. The inversion of double transform has been done numerically. The numerical inversion of Laplace transform is done by using a method based on Fourier Series expansion technique. Numerical computations have been done for magnesium (Mg) and the results are presented graphically. The results for an isotropic material (Cu) have been deduced numerically and presented graphically to compare with those of transversely isotropic material (Mg).  相似文献

A two-dimensional solution is presented for bending analysis of simply supported functionally graded ceramic–metal sandwich plates. The sandwich plate faces are assumed to have isotropic, two-constituent material distribution through the thickness, and the modulus of elasticity and Poisson’s ratio of the faces are assumed to vary according to a power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic ceramic material. Several kinds of sandwich plates are used taking into account the symmetry of the plate and the thickness of each layer. We derive field equations for functionally graded sandwich plates whose deformations are governed by either the shear deformation theories or the classical theory. Displacement functions that identically satisfy boundary conditions are used to reduce the governing equations to a set of coupled ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients. Numerical results of the sinusoidal, third-order, first-order and classical theories are presented to show the effect of material distribution on the deflections and stresses.  相似文献

By invoking the theorem of work reciprocity for piezoelectric media, necessary conditions, which the prescribed edge data of the plate must fulfill in order that it should generate a decaying state within the plate, are established through generalizing the method proposed by Gregory and Wan. These decaying state conditions for the case of axisymmetric deformation of a transversely isotropic piezoelectric circular plate when stress and electric displacement conditions are imposed on the plate edge are derived explicitly, which are then used for the formulation of boundary conditions for the plate theory solution (or the interior solution). Also an analytical solution of the axisymmetric decaying state of transversely isotropic piezoelectric circular plates is derived. Furthermore, the corresponding necessary conditions for the axisymmetric deformation of elastic circular plates are indeed reproduced directly.  相似文献

A constitutive three-dimensional (3D) damping model is derived for transversely isotropic material symmetry, using the augmented Hooke's law [Intl. J. Solids Struct. 32 (1995) 2835] as a starting point. The proposed material model is tested numerically, via finite-element techniques, on a laminate structure built from stacked aluminium and Plexiglas plates. Effective 3D transversely isotropic material properties are given in terms of homogeneous material damping functions in connection with homogenised elastic laminate properties. Comparisons made between the results from the elastic (undamped) eigenvalue problem of the detailed (layerwise) model of the laminate and the effective 3D elastic model show that the homogenised model is reasonably accurate, in terms of predicted elastic eigenfrequencies for the first 20 modes. The dynamic homogenisation process, with damping included, is evaluated in terms of forced vibration response for the laminate structure, using effective transversely isotropic frequency dependent material properties. The dynamic 3D effective homogeneous material model is found to simulate very closely the detailed model in the studied frequency interval for the numerical test case.  相似文献

Based on the three-dimensional theory, this work presents a direct displacement method to investigate the free axisymmetric vibration of transversely isotropic circular plates, whose material is functionally graded and properties obey the exponential law along the thickness direction of the plate. Under two boundary conditions, the solution satisfies all basic equations and the Corresponding boundary condition at every point. Thus, it is three-dimensional exact. Numerical examples are presented and compared with previous works. The present method can also be extended to the case of arbitrary distribution of the material properties along the thickness direction of the plate.  相似文献

The problem of thermoelasticity for transversely isotropic plates acted upon by concentrated heat sources is solved. The {1, 2}-order equations of thermoelasticity that incorporate the transverse shear and normal stresses are used. A bending heat source with symmetric heat transfer is considered. The dependence of thermal stress components on the thermal and thermomechanical parameters of transversely isotropic plates is studied  相似文献

In this article, static analysis of functionally graded, anisotropic and linear magneto-electro-elastic plates have been carried out by semi-analytical finite element method. A series solution is assumed in the plane of the plate and finite element procedure is adopted across the thickness of the plate such a way that the three-dimensional character of the solution is preserved. The finite element model is derived based on constitutive equation of piezomagnetic material accounting for coupling between elasticity, electric and magnetic effect. The present finite element is modeled with displacement components, electric potential and magnetic potential as nodal degree of freedom. The other fields are calculated by post-computation through constitutive equation. The functionally graded material is assumed to be exponential in the thickness direction. The numerical results obtained by the present model are in good agreement with available functionally graded three-dimensional exact benchmark solutions given by Pan and Han [Pan, E., Han, F., in press. Green’s function for transversely isotropic piezoelectric functionally graded multilayered half spaces. Int. J. Solids Struct.]. Numerical study includes the influence of the different exponential factor, magneto-electro-elastic properties and effect of mechanical and electric type of loading on induced magneto-electro-elastic fields. In addition further study has been carried out on non-homogeneous transversely isotropic FGM magneto-electro-elastic plate available in the literature [Chen, W.Q., Lee, K.Y., Ding, H.J., 2005. On free vibration of non-homogeneous transversely isotropic magneto-electro-elastic plates].

Summary Free and forced vibrations of moderately thick, transversely isotropic plates loaded by lateral forces and hydrostatic (isotropic) in-plane forces are analyzed in the frequency domain. Influences of shear, rotatory inertia, transverse normal stress and of a two-parameter Pasternak foundation are taken into account. First-order shear-deformation theories of the Reissner–Mindlin type are considered. These theories are written in a unifying manner using tracers to account for the various influencing parameters. In the case of a general polygonal shape of the plate and hard-hinged support conditions, the Reissner-Mindlin deflections are shown to coincide with the results of the classical Kirchhoff theory of thin plates. The background Kirchhoff plate, which has effective (frequency-dependent) stiffness and mass, is loaded by effective lateral and in-plane forces and by imposed fictitious “thermal” curvatures. These deflections are further split into deflections of linear elastic prestressed membranes with effective stiffness, mass and load. This analogy for the deflections is confirmed by utilizing D'Alembert's dynamic principle in the formulation of Lagrange, which yields an integral equation. Furthermore, the analogy is extended in order to include shear forces and bending moments. It is shown that in the static case, with no in-plane prestress taken into account, the stress resultants for certain groups of Reissner-type shear-deformable plates are identical with those resulting from the Kirchhoff theory of the background. Finally, results taken from the literature for simply supported rectangular and polygonal Mindlin plates are yielded and verified by analogy in a quick and simple manner. Assuming the material properties varying with an exponential law both in the thick- ness and radial directions, axisymmetric bending of two-directional functionally graded circular and annular plates is studied using the semi-analytical numerical method in this paper. The de- flections and stresses of the plates are presented.Numerical results show the well accuracy and convergence of the method.Compared with the finite element method, the semi-analytical nu- merical method is with great advantage in the computational efficiency. Moreover, study on ax- isymmetric bending of two-directional functionally graded annular plate shows that such plates have better performance than those made of isotropic homogeneous materials or one-directional functionally graded materials.Two-directional functionally graded material is a potential alter- native to the one-directional functionally graded material. And the integrated design of materials and structures can really be achieved in two-directional functionally graded materials.  相似文献

The problem of a transversely isotropic functionally graded material (FGM) plate welded with a circular inclusion is considered. The analysis starts with the generalized England-Spencer plate theory for transversely isotropic FGM plates, which expresses a three-dimensional (3D) general solution in terms of four analytic functions. Several analytical solutions are then obtained for an infinite FGM plate welded with a circular inclusion and subjected to the loads at infinity. Three different cases are considered, i.e., a rigid circular inclusion fixed in the space, a rigid circular inclusion rotating about the x-, y-, and z-axes, and an elastic circular inclusion with different material constants from the plate itself. The static responses of the plate and/or the inclusion are investigated through numerical examples.  相似文献

The general solution of the electroelastic problem for a transversely isotropic hyperboloid of revolution is used to find the stress concentration near a hyperboloidal neck in a piezoceramic body subjected to bending. The solution is a sum of four partial solutions for the case where the forces and the normal component of the induction vector on the neck surface are equal to zero. Numerical examples are given for specific external loads and properties of the body. The stress components and normal component of the induction vector near the neck vertex are plotted as a function of the external load and neck curvature  相似文献
