Sufficient conditions are given on the coordinate systems which enable reduced equilibrium equations to be derived for perfectly elastic materials involving deformations which depend in an essential way only on two of the three coordinates. Reduced equilibrium equations given previously for plane and axially symmetric deformations are special cases of the equations given here. These equations considerably reduce the calculations involved in investigating possible solutions of finite elasticity, either exact semi-inverse solutions or approximate perturbation solutions. Moreover a formula for the pressure function appearing in the reduced equilibrium equations is given which relates to the corresponding pressure function associated with the inverse deformation. This formula is similar to one given previously for fully three dimensional deformations.  相似文献

The general theory is given of the propagation of electromagnetic TE modes in a layered structure consisting of a homogeneous dielectric layer between two homogeneous optically nonlinear semi-infinite dielectrics. Allowance is made for the nonlinear coefficients of the nonlinear media to be different and a detailed analysis is given, together with the appropriate formulae for the power flow down the guide, as a function of guide wave number, and layer thickness. Boundary value problems for Stokes and Navier-Stokes equations with non-standard boundary conditions are studied. Included is the case where the pressure or its normal derivative is given on some part of the boundary or the pressure is given up to a constant but given velocity flux. First, a variational formulation is introduced which is shown to be equivalent to the Stokes equations with the non-standard boundary conditions under consideration. The existence and uniqueness of the solution of the variational problem are studied. Secondly, most of the results obtained for the Stokes equations are extended to the case of the Navier-Stokes equations. The final section is devoted to numerical experiments, flows in pipes and physiological flows.  相似文献

The problem of finding the plane supporting curve (brachistochrone) along which a heavy particle released from rest at the given starting point slides with dry (Coulomb) friction and reaches the given destination point in least time, is stated as a variational isoperimetrical problem. The finite parametric equations of the extremal curve are obtained. This curve is the sought-for brachistochrone if the solution of the problem exists. Several numerical examples are given.  相似文献

Summary It is assumed that the magnetic and electric fields have cylindrical symmetry and at the same time mirror symmetry with respect to a median plane. The field strength in the median plane is given. The problem is to calculate the field at an arbitrary point in space, the equipotential surfaces, and the form of the polepieces of magnets. The body of knowledge necessary to observe holographic-moiré patterns in real time is introduced. The basic factors influencing fringe visibility in holographic moiré are analyzed and expressions to evaluate fringe visibility for any given displacement and deformation are given. The application of the introduced theory in the case of real-time observation is discussed. It is shown that the maximum benefits of this technique are achieved by combining it with closed-circuit TV. Several examples of application are given.  相似文献

The purpose of the note is to relate Kirchhoff’s equations with Euler’s equations of rigid body dynamics and to establish the conservation laws arising from given external forces. This is done in vector form, for an inhomogeneous rigid body, by considering the kinetic energy and showing how the terms occurring in the Euler’s equations may be given the form of partial derivatives of the kinetic energy. Next it is shown how the vector form, via derivatives of the kinetic energy, provides the conservation laws and the corresponding first integrals along with their immediate mechanical meaning. This paper concerns the well-posedness of a boundary value problem for a quasilinear second order elliptic equation which is degenerate on a free boundary. Such problems arise when studying continuous subsonic–sonic flows in a convergent nozzle with straight solid walls. It is shown that for a given inlet being a perturbation of an arc centered at the vertex of the nozzle and a given incoming mass flux belonging to an open interval depending only on the adiabatic exponent and the length of the arc, there is a unique continuous subsonic–sonic flow from the given inlet with the angle of the velocity orthogonal to the inlet and the given incoming mass flux. Furthermore, the sonic curve of this continuous subsonic–sonic flow is a free boundary, where the flow is singular in the sense that while the speed is C 1/2 Hölder continuous at the sonic state, the acceleration blows up at the sonic state.  相似文献

The nth-order expansion of the parabolized stability equation(EPSEn) is obtained from the Taylor expansion of the linear parabolized stability equation(LPSE) in the streamwise direction. The EPSE together with the homogeneous boundary conditions forms a local eigenvalue problem, in which the streamwise variations of the mean flow and the disturbance shape function are considered. The first-order EPSE(EPSE1) and the second-order EPSE(EPSE2) are used to study the crossflow instability in the swept NLF(2)-0415 wing boundary layer. The non-parallelism degree of the boundary layer is strong. Compared with the growth rates predicted by the linear stability theory(LST),the results given by the EPSE1 and EPSE2 agree well with those given by the LPSE.In particular, the results given by the EPSE2 are almost the same as those given by the LPSE. The prediction of the EPSE1 is more accurate than the prediction of the LST, and is more efficient than the predictions of the EPSE2 and LPSE. Therefore, the EPSE1 is an efficient e~N prediction tool for the crossflow instability in swept-wing boundary-layer flows.  相似文献

Newton equations are dynamical systems on the space of fields. The solutions of a given equation which are curves of characteristic fields for its force are planar and have constant angular momentum. Separable solutions are characteristic with angular momentum equal to zero. A Newton equation is separable if and only if its characteristic equation is homogeneous. Separable equations correspond to invariants of homogeneous ordinary differential equations, and those associated with a given homogenous equation correspond to its generalized dilation symmetries. A Newton equation is compatible with the characteristic condition if and only if its characteristic equation is linear. Such equations correspond to invariants of linear ordinary differential equations. Those associated with a given linear equation correspond to the central force problems on its solution space. Regardless of compatibility, any Newton equation with a plane of characteristic fields has non-separable characteristic solutions.  相似文献
