The influence of internal pressure on the free vibration behavior of functionally graded (FG) truncated conical shells are investigated based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) of shells. The initial mechanical stresses are obtained by solving the static equilibrium equations. Using Hamilton’s principle and by including the influences of initial stresses, the free vibration equations of motion around this equilibrium state together with the related boundary conditions are derived. The material properties are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction. The differential quadrature method (DQM) as an efficient and accurate numerical tool is adopted to discretize the governing equations and the related boundary conditions. The convergence behavior of the method is numerically investigated and its accuracy is demonstrated by comparing the results in the limit cases with existing solutions in literature. Finally, the effects of internal pressure together with the material property graded index, the semi-vertex angle and the other geometrical parameters on the frequency parameters of the FG truncated conical shells subjected to different boundary conditions are studied.  相似文献

This paper presents an investigation on the nonlinear dynamic response of carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (CNTRC) plates resting on elastic foundations in thermal environments. Two configurations, i.e., single-layer CNTRC plate and three-layer plate that is composed of a homogeneous core layer and two CNTRC surface sheets, are considered. The single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) reinforcement is either uniformly distributed (UD) or functionally graded (FG) in the thickness direction. The material properties of FG-CNTRC plates are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction, and are estimated through a micromechanical model. The motion equations are based on a higher-order shear deformation theory with a von Kármán-type of kinematic nonlinearity. The thermal effects are also included and the material properties of CNTRCs are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The equations of motion that includes plate-foundation interaction are solved by a two-step perturbation technique. Two cases of the in-plane boundary conditions are considered. Initial stresses caused by thermal loads or in-plane edge loads are introduced. The effects of material property gradient, the volume fraction distribution, the foundation stiffness, the temperature change, the initial stress, and the core-to-face sheet thickness ratio on the dynamic response of CNTRC plates are discussed in detail through a parametric study.  相似文献

As a first endeavor, the buckling analysis of functionally graded (FG) arbitrary straight-sided quadrilateral plates rested on two-parameter elastic foundation under in-plane loads is presented. The formulation is based on the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The material properties are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction. The solution procedure is composed of transforming the governing equations from physical domain to computational domain and then discretization of the spatial derivatives by employing the differential quadrature method (DQM) as an efficient and accurate numerical tool. After studying the convergence of the method, its accuracy is demonstrated by comparing the obtained solutions with the existing results in literature for isotropic skew and FG rectangular plates. Then, the effects of thickness-to-length ratio, elastic foundation parameters, volume fraction index, geometrical shape and the boundary conditions on the critical buckling load parameter of the FG plates are studied.  相似文献

Free vibration analysis of moderately thick rectangular FG plates on elastic foundation with various combinations of simply supported and clamped boundary conditions are studied. Winkler model is considered to describe the reaction of elastic foundation on the plate. Governing equations of motion are obtained based on the Mindlin plate theory. A semi-analytical solution is presented for the governing equations using the extended Kantorovich method together with infinite power series solution. Results are compared and validated with available results in the literature. Effects of elastic foundation, boundary conditions, material, and geometrical parameters on natural frequencies of the FG plates are investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, thermal buckling and free vibration of orthogonally stiffened functionally graded truncated conical shells in thermal environment is investigated. Conical shell has been stiffened by rings and stringers, and the influences of the stiffeners are evaluated by the aid of smearing method. The material properties of the structure are assumed to be changed continuously in the thickness direction. First, the initial thermal stresses are obtained accurately by solving the thermoelastic equilibrium equations. Then, by taking into account the initial thermal stresses, equations of motion as well as boundary conditions are obtained, applying the Hamilton’s principle and the first-order shear deformation theory. The natural frequencies of the system have been achieved, solving these governing equations with considering Differential Quadrature Method (DQM). In addition to Eigen frequency analysis, the critical buckling-temperature of the conical shell has been computed. Moreover, the effects of geometrical parameters, number of stiffeners, thermal environment and various boundary conditions on natural frequency of the system have been investigated. Finally, in order to validate the present work, the results are compared with those of other researches available in literature.  相似文献

In this paper free vibration of continuous grading fiber reinforced (CGFR) annular plates on an elastic foundation, based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity, for different boundary conditions at the circular edges is investigated. The foundation is described by the Pasternak or two-parameter model. The CGFR annular plates have an arbitrary variation of fiber volume fraction in the thickness direction. A semi-analytical approach composed of differential quadrature method (DQM) and series solution is adopted to solve the equations of motion. The fast rate of convergence of the method is demonstrated and comparison studies are carried out to establish its very high accuracy and versatility. Some new results for the natural frequencies of the plate are prepared, which include the effects of elastic coefficients of foundation, boundary conditions, material and geometrical parameters. Besides, results for CGFR plate with arbitrary variation of fiber volume fraction in the thickness direction of the plate are compared with discrete laminated composite plate. The main contribution of this work is to present useful results for continuous grading of fiber reinforcement in the thickness direction of a plate on an elastic foundation and comparison with similar discrete laminated composite plate. The interesting and new results show that non-dimensional natural frequency parameters of a functionally graded fiber volume fraction is larger than that of a discrete laminated and close to that of a 2-layer. The new results can be taken as the benchmark solutions for those from numerical methods and future researches.  相似文献

In this study, the torsional vibration and stability problems of functionally graded (FG) orthotropic cylindrical shells in the elastic medium, using the Galerkin method was investigated. Pasternak model is used to describe the reaction of the elastic medium on the cylindrical shell. Mixed boundary conditions are considered. The material properties and density of the orthotropic cylindrical shell are assumed to vary exponentially in the thickness direction. The basic equations of the FG orthotropic cylindrical shell under the torsional load resting on the Pasternak-type elastic foundation are derived. The expressions for the critical torsional load and dimensionless torsional frequency parameter of the FG orthotropic cylindrical shell resting on elastic foundations are obtained. The effects of variations of shell parameters, the exponential factor characterizing the degree of material gradient, orthotropy, foundation stiffness and shear subgrade modulus of the foundation on the critical torsional load and dimensionless torsional frequency parameter are examined.  相似文献

A theoretical model for geometrically nonlinear vibration analysis of thermo-piezoelectrically actuated circular plates made of functionally grade material (FGM) is presented based on Kirchhoff’s–Love hypothesis with von-Karman type geometrical large nonlinear deformations. The material properties of the FG core plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to the power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Dynamic equations and boundary conditions including thermal, elastic and piezoelectric couplings are formulated and solutions are derived. An exact series expansion method combined with perturbation approach is used to model the nonlinear thermo-electro-mechanical vibration behavior of the structure. Control of the FG plate’s nonlinear deflections and natural frequencies using high control voltages is studied and their nonlinear effects are evaluated. Numerical results for FG plates with various mixtures of ceramic and metal are presented in dimensionless forms. A parametric study is also undertaken to highlight the effects of the thermal environment, applied actuator voltage and material composition of the FG core plate on the nonlinear vibration characteristics of the composite structure.  相似文献

In this study, the mechanical buckling and free vibration of thick rectangular plates made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) resting on elastic foundation subjected to in-plane loading is considered. The third order shear deformation theory (TSDT) is employed to derive the governing equations. It is assumed that the material properties of FGM plates vary smoothly by distribution of power law across the plate thickness. The elastic foundation is modeled by the Winkler and two-parameter Pasternak type of elastic foundation. Based on the spline finite strip method, the fundamental equations for functionally graded plates are obtained by discretizing the plate into some finite strips. The results are achieved by the minimization of the total potential energy and solving the corresponding eigenvalue problem. The governing equations are solved for FGM plates buckling analysis and free vibration, separately. In addition, numerical results for FGM plates with different boundary conditions have been verified by comparing to the analytical solutions in the literature. Furthermore, the effects of different values of the foundation stiffness parameters on the response of the FGM plates are determined and discussed.  相似文献

This paper investigates the small- and large-amplitude vibrations of thermally postbuckled carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (CNTRC) beams resting on elastic foundations. For the CNTRC beams, uniformly distributed (UD) and functionally graded (FG) reinforcements are considered where the temperature-dependent material properties of CNRTC beams are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction and estimated through a micromechanical model. The motion equations are derived based on a higher order shear deformation beam theory with including the beam-foundation interaction. The initial deflection caused by thermal postbuckling is also included. The numerical illustrations concern small- and large-amplitude vibration characteristics of thermally postbuckled CNTRC beams under uniform temperature field. The effects of carbon nanotube (CNT) volume fraction and distribution patterns as well as foundation stiffness on the vibration characteristics of CNTRC beams are examined in detail.  相似文献

Three-dimensional elasticity solution for static analysis of functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) annular plates with and without elastic foundations through using state-space based differential quadrature method (SSDQM) at different boundary conditions is presented in this paper. The material properties are assumed to have an exponent-law variation along the thickness. A semi-analytical approach which makes use of state-space method in thickness direction and one-dimensional differential quadrature method in radial direction is utilized to obtain the mechanical behavior of FGP annular plates. The state variables include a combination of electric potential, electric displacement, three mechanical displacement parameters and three stress parameters. Numerical results are given to demonstrate the convergency and accuracy of the present method. Both closed circuit and open circuit effects are studied and the influences of the Winkler and shearing layer elastic coefficients of the foundations, the material property graded index, radius, thickness, mechanical load and boundary conditions on the deflection response of the FGP annular plates are investigated. The new results can be used as a benchmark solutions for future researches.

Based on the 3D thermoelasticity theory, the thermoelastic analysis of laminated cylindrical panels with finite length and functionally graded (FG) layers subjected to three-dimensional (3D) thermal loading are presented. The material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent and graded in the thickness direction. The variations of the field variables across the panel thickness are accurately modeled by using a layerwise differential quadrature (DQ) approach. After validating the approach, as an important application, two common types of FG sandwich cylindrical panels, namely, the sandwich panels with FG face sheets and homogeneous core and the sandwich panels with homogeneous face sheets and FG core are analyzed. The effect of micromechanical modeling of the material properties on the thermoelastic behavior of the panels is studied by comparing the results obtained using the rule of mixture and Mori–Tanaka scheme. The comparison studies reveal that the difference between the results of the two micromechanical models is very small and can be neglected. Then, the effects of different geometrical parameters, material graded index and also the temperature dependence of the material properties on the thermoelastic behavior of the FG sandwich cylindrical panels are carried out.  相似文献

In this article, the bending response of a functionally graded plate resting on elastic foundations and subjected to a transverse mechanical load is investigated. An accurate solution for the functionally graded plate with simply supported edges resting on elastic foundations is presented. The interaction between the plate and the elastic foundations is considered and included in the equilibrium equations. Pasternak’s model is used to describe the two-parameter elastic foundations, and get a special case of Winkler’s model by considering one-parameter of elastic foundation. A relationship between the simple and mixed first-order transverse shear deformation theories is presented. Numerical results for deflections and stresses of functionally graded plates are investigated. Comparisons between the results of the simple and mixed first-order theories are made, and appropriate conclusion is formulated. Additional boundary conditions at the edges of the present plates are investigated.  相似文献

In this article, an analytical solution for buckling of moderately thick functionally graded (FG) sectorial plates is presented. It is assumed that the material properties of the FG plate vary through the thickness of the plate as a power function. The stability equations are derived according to the Mindlin plate theory. By introducing four new functions, the stability equations are decoupled. The decoupled stability equations are solved analytically for both sector and annular sector plates with two simply supported radial edges. Satisfying the edges conditions along the circular edges of the plate, an eigenvalue problem for finding the critical buckling load is obtained. Solving the eigenvalue problem, the numerical results for the critical buckling load and mode shapes are obtained for both sector and annular sector plates. Finally, the effects of boundary conditions, volume fraction, inner to outer radius ratio (annularity) and plate thickness are studied. The results for critical buckling load of functionally graded sectorial plates are reported for the first time and can be used as benchmark.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the thermoelastic behaviors of an elastic medium with variable thermal material properties. The problem is in the context of fractional order heat conduction. The governing equations with variable thermal properties were established by means of the fractional order calculus. The problem of a half-space formed of an elastic medium with variable thermal material properties was solved, and asymptotic solutions induced by a sudden temperature rise on the boundary were obtained by applying an asymptotic approach. The propagations of thermoelastic wave and thermal wave, as well as the distributions of displacement, temperature and stresses were obtained and plotted. Variations in the distributions with different values of fractional order parameter were discussed. The results were compared with those obtained from the case of constant material properties to evaluate the effects of variable material properties on thermoelastic behaviors.  相似文献

In this article, post-buckling and non-linear bending analysis of functionally graded annular sector plates based on three dimensional theory of elasticity in conjunction with non-linear Green strain tensor is considered. In-plane normal compressive loads have been applied to either radial, circumferential, or all edges of annular sector plates. Material properties are graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of constituents while Poisson׳s ratio is assumed to be constant. The governing equations are developed based on the principle of minimum total potential energy and solved based on graded finite element method. Non-linear equilibrium equations are solved based on iterative Newton–Raphson method. The effects of material gradient exponent, different sector angles, thickness ratio, loading condition and two different boundary conditions on the post-buckling behavior of FGM annular sector plates have been investigated. Results denote that due to the stretching–bending coupling effects of the FGMs, the post-buckling behavior of movable simply supported FGM plates is not of the bifurcation-type buckling. Moreover, FGM annular sector plates subjected to uniaxial compression at radial edges show a non-linear bending behavior with unique and stable equilibrium paths following a flattening feature.  相似文献

The bending responses of porous functionally graded (FG) thick rectangular plates are investigated according to a high-order shear deformation theory. Both the effect of shear strain and normal deformation are included in the present theory and so it does not need any shear correction factor. The equilibrium equations according to the porous FG plates are derived. The solution to the problem is derived by using Navier's technique. Numerical results have been reported and compared with those available in the open literature for non-porous plates. The effects of the exponent graded and porosity factors are investigated.  相似文献

This paper presents a study on the buckling and vibration of initially stressed composite plates with temperature-dependent material properties in thermal environments. The initial stress is taken to be a combination of a pure bending stress and an axial stress. The temperature distribution in the plate is assumed to be uniform and linear in the transverse direction. The governing equations including the transverse shear deformation effects are established using the variational method. The effects of various parameters on the buckling and vibration behaviors of laminated plates with respective temperature-dependent and temperature-independent material properties are investigated. The buckling load and natural frequency are sensitive to the thermal stresses and initial stresses. Numerical results reveal that temperature-dependent material properties should be considered in the buckling and vibration analysis for laminated plates under thermal conditions.  相似文献

Free vibration of functionally graded(FG) annular sector plates embedded with two piezoelectric layers is studied with a generalized differential quadrature(GDQ)method. Based on the first-order shear deformation(FSD) plate theory and Hamilton's principle with parameters satisfying Maxwell's electrostatics equation in the piezoelectric layers, governing equations of motion are developed. Both open and closed circuit(shortly connected) boundary conditions on the piezoelectric surfaces, which are respective conditions for sensors and actuators, are accounted for. It is observed that the open circuit condition gives higher natural frequencies than a shortly connected condition. For the simulation of the potential electric function in piezoelectric layers, a sinusoidal function in the transverse direction is considered. It is assumed that properties of the FG material(FGM) change continuously through the thickness according to a power distribution law.The fast rate convergence and accuracy of the GDQ method with a small number of grid points are demonstrated through some numerical examples. With various combinations of free, clamped, and simply supported boundary conditions, the effects of the thicknesses of piezoelectric layers and host plate, power law index of FGMs, and plate geometrical parameters(e.g., angle and radii of annular sector) on the in-plane and out-of-plane natural frequencies for different FG and piezoelectric materials are also studied. Results can be used to predict the behaviors of FG and piezoelectric materials in mechanical systems.  相似文献
