Only the electron and ion gases were taken into account in all previous theories of the positive column of intermediately-low-pressure arc discharge with or without the longitudinal magnetic field, while the motion of neutral gas was neglected. In 1982, the authors[1] presented a nonlinear theory of a positive column which indicated that the rotating velocities of neutral gas and ion gas were nearly equal, and the motion of neutral gas could not be ignored. They further discussed the problem of validity of Bohm's criterion. However, some of the parameters with which the computation was worked out in Ref. [1] were not correlated to the initial discharge parameters. In the present paper, two integral relations are supplemented, so that a complete mathematical formation of the problem is given. A convergent numerical solution is obtained by iteration and the solution of Ref. [1] turns out to be the first iteration approximation. It is shown that both functions and parameters obtained by self-consistent solution differ significantly from those obtained in the first iteration approximation. According to this paper the computation can be conducted when the initial discharge parameters are given, so this method could have certain practical applications.  相似文献

The stability of plane, periodic solutions of the two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation to infinitesimal, two-dimensional perturbation has been calculated and verified numerically. For standing wave disturbances, instability is found for both odd and even modes; as the period of the unperturbed solution increases, the instability associated with the odd modes remains but that associated with the even mode disappears, which is consistent with the results of Zakharov and Rubenchik [8], Saffman and Yuen [4] and Ablowitz and Segur [1] on the stability of solitons. In addition, we have identified travelling wave instabilities for the even mode perturbations which are absent in the long-wave limit. Extrapolation to the case of an unperturbed solution with infinite period suggests that these instabilities]may also be present for the soliton. In other words, the soliton is unstable to odd, standing-wave perturbations, and very likely also to even, travelling-wave perturbations.  相似文献

This work is the continuation and improvement of the discussion of Ref. [1]. We also improve the discussion of Refs. [2–3] on the elastic large deflection problem by results of this paper. We again simplify the von Kármán equation for elastic large deflection problem, and finally turn it into the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in this paper. Secondly, we expand the AKNS equation to still more symmetrical degree under many dimensional conditions in this paper. Owing to connection between the nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the integrability condition for the AKNS equation or the Dirac equation, we can obtain the exact solution for elastic large deflection problem by inverse scattering method. In other words, the elastic large deflection problem wholly becomes a quantum eigenvalues problem. The large deflection problem with orthorhombic anisotropy is also deduced in this paper.  相似文献

The nonlinear convective instability of a plane horizontal conducting fluid layer placed in a uniform vertical magnetic field is studied [1]. A similar problem was previously considered in [2] but with allowance only for so-called weakly nonlinear third-order effects. The systematic development of the theory of shock reflection from a solid wall started in [1]. Regular reflection and a three-shock configuration originating in Mach reflection were considered there under the assumption of homogeneity of the domains between the discontinuities and, therefore, of rectilinearity of these latter. The difficulties of the theoretical study include the essential nonlinearity of the process as well as the instability of the tangential discontinuity originating during Mach reflection. Analytic solutions of the problem in a linear formulation are known for a small wedge angle or a weak wave (see [2–4], for example). The solution in a nonlinear formulation has been carried out numerically in [5, 6] for arbitrary wedge angles and wave intensities. Since the wave was nonstationary, the internal flow configuration is difficult to clarify by means of the constant pressure and density curves presented. A formulation of the problem for the complete system of gasdynamics equations in self-similar variables is given in [7] and a method of solution is proposed but no results are presented. Difficulties with the instability of the contact discontinuity are noted. The problem formulation in this paper is analogous to that proposed in [7]. However, a method of straight-through computation without extraction of the compression shocks in the flow field is selected to compute the discontinuous flows. The shocks and contact discontinuities in such a case are domains with abrupt changes in the gasdynamics parameters. The computations were carried out for a broad range of interaction angles and shock intensities. The results obtained are in good agreement with the analytical solutions and experimental results. Information about the additional rise in reflection pressure after the Mach foot has been obtained during the solution.  相似文献

The exact solutions of the nonlinear equations of filtration of an aerated liquid have been obtained in [1–3]. In [4] the system of equations of an aerated liquid have been reduced to the heat-conduction equation under certain assumptions. An approximate method of computing the nonsteady flow of an aerated liquid is given in [5], where the real flow pattern is replaced by a computational scheme of successive change of stationary states. In [6] the same problem is solved by the method of averaging. In the present article estimates of the solution of the equations for nonstationary filtration of an aerated liquid in one-dimensional layer are constructed under certain conditions imposed on the desired functions. These estimates can be used as approximate solutions with known error or for the verification of the accuracy of different approximate methods. We note that the use of comparison theorem for the estimate of solutions of equations of nonlinear filtration is discussed in [7–9]. The methods of constructing estimates of solutions of various problems of heat conduction are given in [10, 11]  相似文献

In Ref. [1], Spencer and Soldatos proposed an enhanced modelling approach for fibre-reinforced composites which accounts for the fibre-bending stiffness in addition to the directional dependency induced by the fibres. Although analytical solutions for simple geometries have been derived over the past years, often subject to specific assumptions such as small deformation kinematics, the application to more general and non-academic boundary value problems is desirable. Motivated by the latter, the numerical solution of the general system of partial differential equations by means of a multi-field finite element approach is proposed in Ref. [2] and the principal model properties are studied for a specific form of the elastic energy potential. In the present contribution a comparison of the numerical solution by means of the multi-field finite element approach against the analytical solution is presented for the azimuthal shear deformation of a tube-like structure. To this end, the general deformation pattern and especially the distribution of the stress and couple stress tensor are taken into account. We find that, although the analytical solution is derived subject to the assumption of small deformations, whereas the numerical solution is based on the finite strain counterpart of the theory, the simulation results are quasi identical, which verifies the numerical framework proposed.  相似文献
