采用光学传输矩阵方法,模拟研究了由正折射率材料和负折射率材料交替组成的一维光子晶体的光学传输特性.计算了这种含负折射率材料的一维光子晶体的透射谱和色散关系.结果表明,在正入射时,含负折射率材料的光子晶体的带隙要比传统的光子晶体要大得多,并具有狭窄的透射带,从光学薄膜理论的色散关系出发解释了形成上述现象的原因.讨论了在不同的偏振模式下,光以中心波长入射时,反射率随着入射角度的变化关系.发现含负折射率材料的一维光子晶体具有更好的角度特性,可以用来实现对中心波长的全方位反射.  相似文献

结合光子晶体带隙图和等频率线图分析了二维光子晶体中出现负折射现象的条件,得出了负折射现象出现的频率范围.采用有限时域差分法模拟了光在光子晶体界面和内部的传输行为,验证了以上理论所给出的负折射出现的频段,观察到了明显的负折射现象.比较了不同介质、不同晶格结构光子晶体中不同频率的负折射行为.提出一种新结构的六角型二维三角晶格光子晶体分光镜的模型.  相似文献

We demonstrate the negative refraction of microwaves in a metallic photonic crystal prism. The spectral response of the photonic crystal prism, which manifests both positive and negative refraction, is in complete agreement with band-structure calculations and numerical simulations. The validity of Snell's law with a negative refractive index is confirmed experimentally and theoretically. The negative refraction observed corresponds to left-handed electromagnetism that arises due to the dispersion characteristics of waves in a periodic medium. This mechanism for negative refraction is different from that in metamaterials.  相似文献

可调光子晶体由于其潜在的应用价值成为现今光子晶体研究中的一个热点.本文提出了通过光诱导液晶来调节光子晶体负折射效应的方法,采用平面波展开法、等频图分析法和推广的斯涅尔定理分析了二维液晶正方晶格光子晶体负折射的可调节性.提出了一种新型的液晶光子晶体结构, 数值模拟结果表明:通过偏振光改变液晶指向矢可以调节该液晶光子晶体的负折射.与电场调制方法相比,该光控液晶取向技术具有响应速度快、结构简单的优点.这种可调光子晶体可用于制作光控路由或者应用于全光网络.  相似文献

A method to realize absolute negative refraction index -1 with a two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal is presented by introducing dielectric anisotropy in the photonic crystal material. The band structures of E-polarization mode and H-polarization mode can be adjusted by changing the parameters of materials. Thus the two modes with different polarizations have the same negative refraction index -1 for the same frequency. The results are demonstrated by numerical simulation based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method.  相似文献

结合波状结构二维(2D)光子晶体(PC)与入射介质两者的等频面结构分析了PC内部的负折射现象,采用时域有限差分(FDTD)方法模拟了高斯光束在波状结构2DPC内的负折射,分别得到了折射角/入射角以及折射角/入射波长之间的关系曲线,当入射角为45°,入射波段在1485—1530nm区域时,波状结构2DPC的负折射角与入射波长近似呈线性变化关系,并带有明显的PC超棱镜效应,采用端面投影方法对波状结构2DPC的入射端面和出射端面进行处理,改善了负折射时的透过率. 关键词: 光子晶体 负折射 等频面  相似文献

We present some of our recent results for negative refraction in photonic crystals. The concept of negative refraction in photonic crystals is firstly introduced. Then, the propagation of electromagnetic waves in photonic crystals is systematically studied. By the layer Korringa–Kohn–Rostoker method, the coupling efficiency between external plane waves and the Bloch waves in photonic crystals is investigated. It is found that the coupling coefficient is highly angular dependent even for an interface between air with n=1 and a photonic crystal with effective index neff=-1. It is also shown that, for point imaging by a photonic crystal slab, owing to the negative refraction, the influence of the surface termination on the transmission and the imaging quality is significant. Finally, we present results experimentally demonstrating negative refraction in a two-dimensional photonic crystal at optical communication wavelengths. PACS 42.70.Qs; 41.85.Ct; 42.30.Va  相似文献

We report on the negative refraction and left-handed behavior of two-dimensional photonic crystals. For the triangular two-dimensional photonic crystals there are two saddle points and a key point in the first Brillouin zone for the second band, which play important role to determine the refraction phenomena. There is no determined relation between the left-handed behavior and the negative refraction. The refraction phenomena depend on the band structure and the configuration of the incident light. For the first configuration, the first Brillouin zone can be divided into three parts. In part I there are negative refraction and left-handed behaviors. In part II there are normal refraction and left-handed behaviors. In part III there are normal refraction and right-handed behaviors. For the second configuration, the first Brillouin zone can only be divided into two parts. For these complex refraction phenomena, it is meaningless to define the phase refractive index, and it is necessary to define the effective refraction index by a Snell-like formula, and the value of the effective index is determined by the configuration and the band structure.  相似文献

We systematically investigate the band structures, equifrequency surfaces, and the intensity distributions of Poynting vector in two-dimensional Si/SiO2 all-solid photonic crystals with different lattice types. It is found that all-angle negative refraction with effective refractive index of nearly ? 1 and far-field imaging effects can be achieved from all-solid photonic crystals. And more important thing is that, the all-solid photonic crystals can realize all-angle negative refraction at lower frequencies and provide far-field images with higher quality compared with normal air–dielectric photonic crystals. Such improved performance provides an alternative approach to realize all-angle negative refraction in super-lens and super-prisms applications.  相似文献

When a thin structure in which negative refraction occurs (a metallo-dielectric structure or a photonic crystal) is illuminated by a beam, the reflected and transmitted beam can undergo a large negative lateral shift. This phenomenon can be seen as an interferential enhancement of the geometrical shift and can be considered a signature of negative refraction.  相似文献

High-index contrast photonic crystals possess an intricate photonic band structure that is responsible for surprising phenomena as the surperprism effect, self-collimation, power splitting or negative refraction. Recently, it was reported that at the interface between an isotropic medium and a uniaxial crystal (or between two uniaxial crystals) a phenomenon known as amphoteric refraction, that is, positive as well as negative refraction, can take place. By means of a equifrequency contours analysis and finite-difference time-domain simulations, we show that a two dimensional photonic crystal can also present amphoteric refraction by properly choosing the lattice orientation and the termination. However, total transmission is difficult to achieve because a Bloch mode is excited inside the photonic crystal and the coupling efficiency from this mode to an external plane wave is lower than one.  相似文献

The negative refraction of electromagnetic waves in photonic crystals was recently demonstrated experimentally, and the physical properties were analyzed. Microsuperlenses based on two-dimensional photonic crystals were designed and the subwavelength images were observed. In this review, after providing a brief history of the research related to the above phenomena, we will summarize our research works in this field including the method of creating a negative refraction region, generating an absolute negative refraction, the focusing of unpolarized electromagnetic waves, and the effect of interface and disorder on the image by the two-dimensional photonic crystal flat lens. The discussion on the negative refraction and the focusing by high symmetric quasicrystals is also presented.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate the light focusing by negative refraction in a photonic crystal slab superlens at wavelengths lambda of 1.26-1.42 microm. The photonic crystal slab was fabricated on silicon-on-insulator substrate with an interface structure optimized for low reflection and diffraction losses. The light focusing in the photonic crystal slab was clearly observed through the intentional out-of-plane radiation or scattering of guided light in the slab. The minimum focused spot width was limited to 1.8 microm(1.4 lambda) owing to aberrations. The focusing characteristics were in good agreement with those obtained from photonic band and finite-difference time-domain analyses.  相似文献

We investigate the wave propagation through the tilted interface of one-dimensional photonic crystals. Negative refraction can be realized by excitation of the Bloch states in the extended Brillouin zone with suppressed reflection. Equi-frequency surface analysis shows that the positive refraction, negative refraction or birefringence in this configuration can be achieved under a proper incident angle, which is confirmed by finite-difference timedomain simulations. The results may be useful in applications in the new devices based on one-dimensional photonic or optical waveguide arrays.  相似文献

Negative refraction and imaging properties of the electromagnetic wave through a two-dimensional photonic crystal (PC) slab, which consists of a square lattice of elliptical dielectric rods immersed in the air background, is studied by the plane-wave expansion method and the finite-difference time-domain method. A point source placed in the vicinity of the PC slab can form a good-quality image spot through the PC slab for the incident frequencies within the second photonic band. The calculated result also shows that negative refraction occurs in this kind of PC slab.  相似文献

研究了波状结构二维光子晶体(2DPC)在红外波段的负折射近场成像,对其等频面进行了分析,指出波状结构二维光子晶体无法实现负折射远场成像的原因在于缺少与入射介质等频面相匹配的光子晶体圆形等频面,所用的矩形等频面使波状膜层二维光子晶体不可避免地具有各向异性特征,进而将成像限制在近场范围内。采用时域有限差分(时域有限差分)方法模拟了不同厚度的波状结构二维光子晶体近场成像效果,当厚度为两倍栅格常量时,单光源的成像分辨力为0.28λ,达到亚波长分辨效果。分辨力随着光源逐渐远离近场范围而降低,而像点的位置基本不随光源距离和光子晶体厚度的变化而改变。双光源的成像模拟进一步验证了波状结构二维光子晶体的近场亚波长成像能力,分辨力达到0.35λ,但成像质量受光子晶体厚度变化的影响较大。  相似文献

为了研究光场在二维光子晶体中的传播特性,本文应用平面波展开法,得到了二维三角晶格光子晶体的能带结构,在此基础上,运用时域有限差分法,分析了在一定入射角度下,特定频率的光束在光子晶体中的负折射现象,由于应用光子晶体的自准直效应,光束束腰在传播过程中展宽较小。研究了由于能带交折、重叠而产生的特殊色散特性和超棱镜效应,给出了光子晶体内外的磁场强度的分布,得到了极高的角色散度。文章的研究结果对研究基于光子晶体超棱镜效应的波分复用器,具有指导意义。  相似文献

We report on the first experimental evidence of negative refraction at telecommunication wavelengths by a two-dimensional photonic crystal field. Samples were fabricated by chemically assisted ion beam etching in the InP-based low-index constrast system. Experiments of beam imaging and light collection show light focusing by the photonic crystal field. Finite-difference time-domain simulations confirm that the observed focusing is due to negative refraction in the photonic crystal area.  相似文献

We demonstrate that light propagation in strongly modulated 2D/3D photonic crystals (PhCs) becomes refraction-like in the vicinity of the photonic bandgap, which is contrary to the fact that light propagation in weakly modulated PhCs is very different from refraction and thus the definition of refraction index becomes meaningless. Such a crystal behaves like a material having an effective refractive index controllable by the band structure. This situation is analogous to the effective-mass approximation in electron-band theory. The propagation states having a negative effective index exhibit unusual properties, such as mirror-like imaging effect, image-transfer effect. These properties are confirmed by finite-difference time-domain simulations.  相似文献
