We show that the sender and the receiver each require coherent devices in order to achieve unconditional continuous variable quantum teleportation (CVQT), and this requirement cannot be achieved with conventional laser sources, linear optics, ideal photon detectors, and perfect Fock state sources. The appearance of successful CVQT in recent experiments is due to interpreting the measurement record fallaciously in terms of one preferred ensemble (or decomposition) of the correct density matrix describing the state. We use counterpropagating light to directly observe the coherent buildup of high harmonic generation in a hollow waveguide geometry. We measure, for the first time, coherence lengths for high photon energies that cannot be phase matched using conventional approaches. We also probe the transition through phase matching, the ionization level at which different harmonic orders are generated, and the change in the coherence length as the driving laser is depleted. These results directly prescribe the optimal structures or pulse trains required for implementing quasiphase matching. 相似文献

We propose an alternative method for the quantum non-demolition measurement of photon numbers wherein weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities are to be used. The usual approach to quantum non-demolition measurements of quantum number involves encoding the photon number, through a cross-Kerr interaction, into a phase shift of a probe coherent state which is then detected through balanced homodyning. Weak nonlinearities produce small phase shifts which are difficult to detect and distinguish. In the method we propose, unbalanced homodyning acts as a displacement operator on the probe beam coherent state such that the cross-Kerr interaction encodes the photon number into the amplitude of a new coherent state. The value of the photon number can be determined by inefficient photon counting on the new coherent state. Our proposed method requires fewer resources than does the usual approach. 相似文献

The phase noises of a 10-m polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber and a 10-W PM fiber amplifier are experimentally measured. The results indicate that the 10-m PM fiber with similar phase noise could be used to investigate the architecture of master oscillator power amplifier coherent combination. A seven-element hexagonal fiber coherent array is developed to investigate the far-field distribution and phase controlling technique of a coherently combining fiber laser array. A hexagonal prism is designed as the combining and splitting component to achieve a fill factor of 0.66. The hill climbing method is employed to detect and lock the element phase. 相似文献

We propose a study of the second-order coherence properties of radiation, such as inelastically scattered laser light, by performing an excess photon coincidence rate experiment a la Hanbury Brown-Twiss. The calculation evaluates the second-order correlation function of the electromagnetic field for an arbitrary number of coherent modes overlapped in phase space by a chaotic radiation field. We discuss the application of the general result to a specific case, namely the case of a single mode laser, and the Stokes radiation produced in a Brillouin-active medium, and a suitable part of the spectrum produced by causing dielectric breakdown in air. 相似文献

We study the scattering process of photons confined in a one-dimensional optical waveguide by a laser controlled atomic ensemble. The investigation leads to an alternative setup of quantum node controlling the coherent transfer of single photon in such one dimensional continuum. To exactly solve the effective scattering equations by using the discrete coordinate approach, we simulate the linear waveguide as a coupled resonator array at the high energy limit. We generally calculate the transmission coefficients and itsvanishing at resonace reflects the good controllability of our scheme.
