We study the external optical feedback resistance of both index-coupled(IC) and gain-coupled distributed feed-back(DFB) lasers using a very simple experimental set-up.Though IC-DFB lasers with large coupling coefficients are found to be less sensitive to external reflection,they suffer from mode instability at high injection level.On the other hand ,the introduction of gain-coupling mechanism can significantly improve both the immunity of external optical feedback and the single mode yield of the device.  相似文献

By employing a simple model of describing three-level lasers, we have theoretically investigated the effect of photon lifetime on the output dynamics of Er-doped distributed feedback fibre lasers. All-fibre high power erbium-ytterbium co-doped double clad fibre lasers are proposed and demonstrated. By using different back-cavity mirrors, the different double clad fibre lasers are constructed. It is experimentally found that the output behaviour of laser can be controlled by a back-cavity mirror. The lower the reflectivity of the back-cavity mirror, the higher the output power and the high the slop efficiency. The maximum output power is about 1.6 W and the slop efficiency is 27.6%.  相似文献

The 795 nm distributed feedback lasers have great application in pumping the Rb D1 transition. In this paper, in order to realize specific 795 nm lasing, we designed tilted ridge distributed feedback lasers based on purely gain coupled effect induced by periodic current injection windows through changing the angle of the tilted ridge. The fabricated devices were cleaved into 2 mm-cavity-length, including 5 tilted angles. The peak output powers of all devices were above 30 m W.Single longitudinal mode lasing was realized in all tilted Fabry–Perot cavities using periodic current injection windows,with side mode suppression ratio over 30 d B. The total wavelength range covered 8.656 nm at 20℃. It was disclosed theoretically and experimentally that the output powers, threshold currents, and central wavelengths of the tilted ridge purely gain coupled DFB lasers were relevant to the tilted angles. The results will be instructive for future design of DFB laser arrays with different central wavelengths.  相似文献

We have investigated the synchronization of chaotic dual-ring erbium-doped fibre lasers using the delay feedback-injection scheme. Numerical simulation shows that two chaotic dual-ring erbium-doped fibre lasers can be well synchronized if the strengths of delay feedback and injection are suitable. Even though the effects of the noises and the difference between the two lasers are considered, the twins can still reach good synchronization. Secure communication could be realized using the scheme of message-masking based on the synchronization of the chaotic dual-ring erbium-doped fibre lasers.  相似文献

A new device of two parallel distributed feedback (DFB) lasers integrated monolithically with Y-branch waveguide coupler was fabricated by means of quantum well intermixing. Optical microwave signal was generated in the Y-branch waveguide coupler through frequency beating of the two laser modes coming from two DFB laser in parallel, which had a small difference in frequency. Continuous rapid tuning of optical microwave signal from 13 to 42GHz were realized by adjusting independently the driving currents injected into the two DFB lasers.  相似文献

We experimentally generate high dimension chaotic waveforms with smooth spectrum using a distributed feedback (DFB) semiconductor laser with unidirectional fibre ring long-cavity feedback, and implement the stable chaos synchronization when the chaotic light is injected into a solitary DFB laser diode. The synchronization quality is investigated by time-domain and frequency-domain analysis separately, The frequency-domain analysis indicates that the synchronization has higher quality in the high frequency band. The influences of the injection strength and the frequency detuning on the synchronization are measured. Our experimental results show that the robust synchronization can be maintained with the optical frequency detuning from -11GHz to 40 GHz.  相似文献

The frequencies of two 698 nm external cavity diode lasers (ECDLs) are locked separately to two independently located ultrahigh finesse optical resonant cavities with the Pound Drever-Hall technique. The linewidth of each ECDL is measured to be -4.6 Hz by their beating and the fractional frequency stability below 5 × 10^-15 between 1 s to lOs averaging time. Another 698nm laser diode is injection locked to one of the cavity-stabilized ECDLs with a fixed frequency offset for power amplification while maintaining its linewidth and frequency characteristics. The frequency drift is H1 Hz/s measured by a femtosecond optical frequency comb based on erbium fiber. The output of the injection slave laser is delivered to the magneto-optical trap of a Sr optical clock through a iO- ta-long single mode polarization maintaining fiber with an active fiber noise cancelation technique to detect the clock transition of Sr atoms.  相似文献

Dynamic behaviors of the erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) with dual-frequency loss modulation are experimentally investigated. Frequency-locked states with their winding numbers which form the devil's staircase are observed in this kind of lasers. In the unlocked regions, the output state changes from quasiperiodicity to chaos under increasing modulation index, which demonstrates a different route to chaos from the conventional loss-modulated EDFLs with a single modulation frequency. The chaos output in the dual-frequency loss-modulated EDFLs shows less harmonic components of the modulation frequency in the corresponding power spectrum, indicating the improvement of the randomness of the chaotic signals.  相似文献

We investigate chaotic synchronization in the generalized sense in unidirectionally coupled erbium-doped fibre dual-ring lasers. Numerical simulation shows that no matter whether the two different erbium-doped fibre dual-ring lasers are chaotic or not before coupling, they show generalized synchronization with a suitable unidirectional coupling coefficient under which the maximum condition Lyapunov exponent is negative. We also use the auxiliary system approach to detect the generalized synchronization.  相似文献
