In this work, uniform, quasi‐spherical gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) with sizes of 31–577 nm are prepared via one‐pot seeded growth with the aid of tris‐base (TB). Distinct from the seeded growth methods available in literature, the present method can be simply implemented by subsequently adding the aqueous dispersion of the 17 nm Au‐NP seeds and the aqueous solution of HAuCl4 into the boiling aqueous TB solution. It is found that at the optimal pH range, the sizes of the final Au NPs and their concentrations are simply controlled by either the particle number of the Au seed dispersion or the concentration of the HAuCl4 solution, while the latter enables us to produce large Au NPs at very high concentration. Moreover, as‐prepared Au NPs of various sizes are coated on glass substrates to test their surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activities by using 4‐aminothiophenol (4‐ATP) molecules as probes, which exhibit “volcano type” dependence on the Au NP sizes at fixed excitation wavelength. Furthermore, the Au NPs with sizes of ≈97 and 408 nm exhibit the largest SERS enhancement at the excitation wavelength of 633 and 785 nm, respectively.  相似文献

The synthesis of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) capped by poly(1‐vinylpyrrolidin‐2‐one (PVP, average  = 10 000 kDa) yields moderately dispersed (6–8.5 nm) product with limited morphological control while larger NPs (15–20 nm) are reliably prepared using trisodium citrate (Na3Cit) as a reductant/capping agent. Excellent size control in the intermediate 10 nm regime is achieved by hybridizing these methodologies, with highly monodisperse, polycrystalline Au NPs forming. For a Na3Cit:PVP:Au ratio of 3.5:3.5:1, anisotropic NPs with an aspect ratio of 1.8:1 suggest the systematic agglomeration of NP pairs. Enhanced control of NP morphology is allowed by the 1,2‐tetradecanediol reduction of AuIII in the presence of straight chain, molecular anti‐agglomerants. Last, ligand substitution is used to controllably grow preformed Au seeds. In spite of the extended growth phase used, the replacement of phosphine by 1‐pentadecylamine affords highly monodisperse, cuboidal NPs containing a single clearly visible twinning plane. The allowance of particle growth parallel to this close‐packed plane explains the remarkable particle morphology.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles having prechosen size ranging from 5 to 110 nm have been prepared in two steps. Firstly, small spherical particles (seed) of average diameters between 5 and 20 nm were prepared by varying the ratio of gold ion concentration to stabilizer/reductant, TX-100 concentration and using UV irradiation. Secondly, 20–110 nm particles were formed by a non-iterative seed-mediated growth where small particles produced by the above irradiation technique were exploited as seeds and fresh Au(III) ions were reduced onto the surface on the seed particles by ascorbic acid. The kinetics of particle formation has also been reported. These methods were fast and showed improved monodispersity sphericity and excellent reproducibility.  相似文献

Hybrid nanostructures composed of gold nanoparticles (NPs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been prepared by a microwave-assisted method in the mixed solvents of oleylamine and oleic. The morphology, structure and composition of as-obtained Au/CNT composites are characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD). The composites show characteristic plasmon absorption of Au NPs in the Ultraviolet–visual spectrum. Fourier transform infrared spectrum shows the successful introduction of functional groups on the surface of CNTs, which are crucial factors to assist the nucleation in situ of Au NPs on the surface of CNTs. Electrochemical measurements show the enhancement electrochemical response for the gold electrode modified with Au/CNT composites.  相似文献

Au–Pd core–shell nanocubes and triangular nanoparticles were systematically synthesized from a few Pd layers up to fully grown morphologies by a modified seed-mediated growth method. The shape evolution of Au–Pd core–shell nanoparticles from single crystal and singly twinned seed to final concave nanocube and triangular plates are presented at atomic level by Cs-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). The growth mechanism of both morphologies was studied throughout different sizes. It was found that the concave nanocubes grew from octahedral Au seeds due to fast growth along 〈111〉 directions; while the triangular nanoparticles grew from singly twinned Au seeds, growing twice as fast in 〈110〉 directions along the twin boundary; compared to the 〈111〉 direction perpendicular to the twin boundary. Both the concave nanocubes and triangular nanoparticles presented high index facet (HIF) surfaces that will increase the catalytic activity of different reactions.  相似文献

We study the adsorption behaviors of rhodamine dyes on gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) depending on their surface charges. Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) dye is tested comparatively for positively and negatively charged Au NPs prepared by the reduction of chitosan and citric acid, respectively. The adsorption of Rh6G is found to be weaker on the positively charged Au NPs, whereas more substantial aggregation is found on negatively charged Au NPs. An increase in the concentration of Au NPs enhances the surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) intensities only for the Au(−) NPs, whereas the Au(+) NPs do not exhibit any strong SERS signals. Our findings suggest that SERS and reciprocal fluorescence measurements of Rh6G can be used to estimate the surface charges and atomic percentages of Au NPs less than ∼5 ppm. Hydrophilic and homogeneous sub-10 nm blue light-emitting gold nanoparticles (NPs) functionalized with different capping agents have been prepared by simple chemical routes. Structure, average, size, and surface characteristics of these NPs have been widely studied, and the stability of colloidal NP solutions at different pH values has been evaluated. Au NPs show blue PL emission, particularly in the GSH capped NPs, in which the thiol-metal core transference transitions considerably enhance the fluorescent emission. The influence of capping agent and NP size on cytotoxicity and on the fluorescent emission are analyzed and discussed in order to obtain Au NPs with suitable features for biomedical applications. Cytotoxicity of different types of gold NPs has been determined using NPs at high concentrations in both tumor cell lines and primary cells. All NPs used show high biocompatibility with low cytotoxicity even at high concentration, while Au-GSH NPs decrease viability and proliferation of both a tumor cell line and primary lymphocytes.  相似文献

In addition to their optical properties, the ability of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) to generate table immobilization of biomolecules, whilst retaining their bioactivities is a major advantage to apply them as biosensors. Optical biosensors using Au NPs are simple, fast and reliable and, recently, they have been moving from laboratory study to the point of practical use. The optical properties of Au NPs strongly depend on their size, shape, degree of aggregation and the functional groups on their surface. Rapid advances in the field of nanotechnology offer us a great opportunity to develop the controllable synthesis and modification of Au NPs as well as to study on their properties and applications. The size-controlled growth of Au NPs requires the isotropic growth on the surface of Au nuclei whereas anisotropic growth will induce the formation of Au NPs of varying shape. Functionalized Au NPs provide sensitive and selective biosensors for the detection of many targets, including metal ions, small organic compounds, protein, DNA, RNA and cell based on their optical, electrical or electrochemical signals. In this review, we will discuss the size- and shape-controlled growth and functionalization of Au NPs to obtain Au nanoprobes. The basis of the optical detection of Au nanoprobes and their applications in nucleic acid, protein detection and cell imaging are also introduced.  相似文献

Surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is an extremely powerful tool for the analysis of the composition of bimetallic nanoparticle (BNP) surfaces because of the different adsorption schemes adopted by several molecules on different metals, such as Au and Ag. The preparation of BNPs normally implies a change in the plasmonic properties of the core metal. However, for technological applications it could be interesting to synthesize core–shell structures preserving these original plasmonic properties. In this work, we present a facile method for coating colloidal gold nanoparticles (NPs) in solution with a very thin shell of silver. The resulting bimetallic Au@Ag system maintains the optical properties of gold but shows the chemical surface affinity of silver. The effectiveness of the coating method, as well as the progressive silver enrichment of the outermost part of the Au NPs, has been monitored through the SERS spectra of several species (chloride, luteolin, thiophenol and lucigenin), which show different behaviors on gold and silver surfaces. A growth mechanism of the Ag shell is proposed on the basis of the spectroscopic and microscopic data consisting in the formation and deposit of Ag clusters on the Au NP surface. We present rapid synthesis of gold nanoparticles by microwave irradiation method. Sample with average particle size 7.7 nm is obtained from TEM. Linear and nonlinear optical studies of the prepared samples are discussed. Reverse saturable absorption (RSA) at longitudinal surface plasmon resonance (SPR) in gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) have been observed using Z-scan and transient absorption techniques with 532 nm laser pulses. Such RSA behavior makes Au NPs an ideal candidate for optical limiting applications.  相似文献

Studies on phosphorescent organic light emitting devices (PhOLEDs) with phosphorescent emitter, fac-tris (2-phenylpyridine) iridium (Ir(ppy)(3)), show that the lifetime of triplet exciton is modified by surface plasmon coupling of Au nanoparticles (NPs). Interactions between the triplet exciton and gold (Au) nanoparticles (NPs) lead to a decrease in the exciton lifetime and result in the spontaneous emission decay rate of triplet exciton faster as the distance between the phosphorescent material and the Au NPs becomes smaller. This interaction reduces the efficiency roll-off of Au NPs containing device. These results provide new guides for device design to improve efficiency performance.  相似文献

Composite Au–SnO2 nanoparticles (NPs) are synthesized by nano-soldering of pure Au and SnO2 NPs. The multi-step process involves synthesis of pure Au and SnO2 NPs separately by nanosecond pulse laser ablation of pure gold and pure tin targets in deionized water and post-ablation laser heating of mixed solution of Au colloidal and SnO2 colloidal to form nanocomposite. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) were used to study the effect of laser irradiation time on morphology of the composite Au–SnO2 NPs. The spherical particles of 4 nm mean size were obtained for 5 min of post-laser heating. Increased mean size and elongated particles were observed on further laser heating. UV–vis spectra of Au–SnO2 nanocomposites show red shift in the plasmon resonance absorption peak and line shape broadening with respect to pure Au NPs. The negative binding energy shift of Au 4f7/2 peak observed in X-ray Photoelectron Spectra (XPS) indicates charge transfer in the nano-soldered Au–SnO2 between gold and tin oxide and formation of soldered nanocomposite.  相似文献

Phosphorylcholine (PC)-functionalized poly(amido amine) (PAMAM) dendrimers were prepared and used as both reducing and stabilizing agents for synthesis of highly stable and reactive gold nanoparticles (Au NPs). Biomimetic PC-functionalized PAMAM dendrimers-stabilized gold nanoparticles (Au DSNPs) were formed by simply mixing the PC modified amine-terminated fifth-generation PAMAM dendrimers (G5-PC) with AuCl4 ions by controlling the pH, no additional reducing agents or other stabilizers were needed. The obtained Au DSNPs were shown to be spherical, with particle diameters ranging from 5 to 12 nm, the sizes and growth kinetics of Au DSNPs could be tuned by changing the pH and the initial molar ratio of dendrimers to gold as indicated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV–Vis data. The prepared Au DSNPs showed excellent stability including: (1) stable at wide pH (7–13) values; (2) stable at high salt concentrations up to 2 M NaCl; (3) non-specific protein adsorption resistance. More importantly, surface functionalization could be performed by introducing desired functional groups onto the remained reactive amine groups. This was exemplified by the glucose conjugation. The glucose conjugated Au DSNPs showed bio-specific interaction with Concanavalin A (Con A), which induced aggregation of the Au NPs. Colorimetric detection of Con A based on the plasmon resonance of the glucose conjugated Au DSNPs was realized. A limit of detection (LOD) for Con A was 0.6 μM, based on a signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of 3. These findings demonstrated that the PC modified Au DSNPs could potentially serve as a versatile nano-platform for the biomedical applications.  相似文献

The preparation of Au‐on‐Pd heteronanostructure (HNS) using citrate‐stabilized polycrystalline Pd nanoparticles (NPs) as the seeds is described. The resulting Au‐on‐Pd HNS is characterized and it is found that the formation of Au‐on‐Pd HNS depends greatly on a ratio between Pd seeds and AuCl4? ions added and the optimal molar ratio is 10:1. If fewer AuCl4? ions are added (Pd/Au ratio is 100:1), the growth of Au NPs only occurs on part of the Pd seeds’ surface. The addition of more AuCl4? ions (Pd/Au ratio is 5:1) hinders the growth of Au NPs on the Pd seeds’ surface. To demonstrate the catalytic performance, the electrochemistry oxidation of ethanol and the reduction of p‐nitrophenol by NaBH4 are chosen to examine the catalytic activity of Au‐on‐Pd HNS. Pd seeds, Au NPs, and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP)‐stabilized PdAu nanoalloy are used as the references for comparison. In the first reaction, the catalytic reactivity of Au‐on‐Pd HNS is better than that of corresponding pure Pd or Au NPs, while the opposite occurs for the latter reaction. The catalytic activity of Au‐on‐Pd HNS is much higher than that of PVP‐stabilized PdAu nanoalloy.  相似文献

The hardness and Young's modulus of 10 and 20 nm gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) modified with bovine serum albumin and streptavidin were measured using a nanoindenter. The Au NPs were immobilized on a semiconductor surface through organic self-assembled monolayers. Changes in mechanical properties occurred when the Au NPs were immobilized on the surface. The hardness and Young's modulus were dependent on the size of the NPs, and the proteins on the particles showed highly plastic and elastic behavior compared to flat surfaces modified with self-assembled monolayers.  相似文献

An effective approach to attach gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) directly on indium tin oxide (ITO) surface with higher density is reported. The attachment was carried out using a cast seed-mediated growth method, which was revised from our previous seed-mediated growth approach. The cast seeding with three-cycles of the drop of the seed solution containing Au nano-seed particles and the evaporation at 30 °C followed by the treatment in the growth solution containing HAuCl4, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and ascorbic acid was found to be suitable to prepare the AuNPs attached ITO surfaces having higher density and narrower size distribution. The 10-cycles cast seeding formed the connected or networked nanostructures of AuNPs, though the optical properties were different from those of the dispersed AuNP-attached ITO. The present cast seeding approach provides a facile and useful strategy to attach AuNPs on the surface without the use of certain organic binder molecules.  相似文献

Freestanding natural polymeric films with homogeneous dispersion of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) are obtained via in situ reduction of gold(III) chloride trihydrate by sodium alginate (SA) biopolymer matrix, during water evaporation without the use of additional reducing agents. The size and size distribution of the prepared Au NPs can be tuned by changing the concentration of the precursor and/or the procedure of the films’ preparation. The nanocomposite films after preparation are stable in ambient conditions and can be used without the need of further processing, or can be redissolved in water. In the case of water dissolution, the aqueous solutions are irradiated with UV laser pulses turning the previously formed Au NPs into smaller ones with narrow size distributions through photofragmentation. This technique is proposed as a green way of synthesizing Au NPs of tunable size in aqueous solution of alginate, or incorporated in alginate freestanding polymeric films, that due to their biocompatibility can be used as passive labels or active sensors in biomedical applications.  相似文献

The in situ reduction growth of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) on unmodified polystyrene (PS) spheres is investigated via controlling Ag nucleation and growth rates by continuous dripping addition of reductant solution in the absence of surfactants. The sub-micro PS spheres were coated by a uniform coverage of Ag NPs with several shapes like elongated islands, spherical particles, and particle aggregates. The reaction temperature and reductant concentration are demonstrated to influence the crystal structure, distribution, and stability of the Ag NPs on the PS substrates. The heterogeneous nucleation and growth of Ag NPs on PS spheres are found to depend on the inhibition of in-solution reduction and homogeneous nucleation.  相似文献
