The transmittance technique with a phase object(T-PO),for measuring optical nonlinear coefficients is proposed with a top-hat beam.The sensitivity of the T-PO with a top-hat beam is a factor of 4 greater than that with a Gaussian beam.The validity of this method is verified by measuring the nonlinearity of a well-characterized liquid,CS 2 at 532-nm wavelength.The ease of use of this method has been proved by measuring a new compound 4-(N-methyl,N-hydroxyethyl)amino,4'-nitroazobenzene(ANAB) at 600-nm wavelength,indicating that this method can be extended to the measurement of optical nonlinearities in a wide-band spectrum.  相似文献

We propose a new method to detect near-field by using a single-tine oscillating tuning fork with mechanically asymmetric excitation that exhibits the sensitivity and stability better than that by using a double-tine oscillating one.Comparison of shear forces for the two methods demonstrate that the single-tine oscillating tuning fork provides a simpler and more sensitive method for near-field measurements.A theoretical analysis is presented for explanation to the greater sensitivity,The method is demonstrated by imaging a sparse-packed layer of micro-spheres in size of 200nm.  相似文献

We present a method,which combines the Gaussian decomposition method and the “distributed-lens“ method,for analysing Z-scan curves of cascading nonlinear medium layers or a complicated cascading structure.A good agreement with the experimental data is obtained.The method would be useful to design optical limiters and to determine the nonlinearities of cascading medium layers.  相似文献

We present a theoretical model to analyse the propagation of a Gaussian laser beam through double-sided nonlinear media. This model is based on the Huygens--Fresnel diffraction integral method. This theoretical model is not only consistent with the cascade structure model for a small nonlinear phase-shift but also can be used for a large nonlinear phase-shift. It has been verified that it is suitable to characterize the double-sided nonlinear media compared with the cascade structure model. A good agreement between the experimental data and the results from the theoretical model is obtained. It will be useful for the design of multi-sided nonlinear materials.  相似文献

A numerical method is developed to analyse and to correct the diffraction effect in the measurement of acoustic nonlinearity parameter B/A at high frequencies. By using the KZK nonlinear equation and the superposition approach of Gaussian beams, an analytical model is derived to describe the second harmonic generation through multi-layer medium SiO2/liquid specimen/SiO2. Frequency dependence of the nonlinear characterization curve for water in 110-155 MHz is numerically and experimentally investigated. With the measured dip position and the new modal, values of B/A for water are evaluated. The results show that the present method can effectively correct the diffraction effect in the measurement.  相似文献

Based on the hot electron effect in a semiconductor, an overmoded resistive sensor for 0.3-0.4 THz band is investi-gated. The distribution of electromagnetic field components, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), and the average electric field in the silicon block are obtained by using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. By adjusting several factors (such as the length, width, height and specific resistance of the silicon block) a novel sensor with optimal structural parameters that can be used as a power measurement device for high power terahertz pulse directly is proposed. The results show that the sensor has a relative sensitivity of about 0.24 kW 1, with a fluctuation of relative sensitivity of no more than ±22%, and the maximum of VSWR is 2.74 for 0.3-0.4 THz band.  相似文献

This paper presents a realistic scheme for the teleportation of coherent states in which a two-mode squeezed vacuum state serves as the quantum channel and the position-sum and momentum-difference of two local modes serve as the measuring observables. The average fidelity of the teleportation of coherent states is derived for finite squeezing parameters and it turns out that fidelity greater than 1/2 cannot be achieved by using a classical channel alone and the probability distribution of the measurement result is a Gaussian distribution around the unknown parameter of the input coherent state with a width given by the squeezing parameter.  相似文献

A novel method for velocity measurement is presented. In this scheme, a parallel-linear-polarization dual- frequency laser is incident on the target and senses the target velocity with both the frequencies, which can increase the maximum measurable velocity significantly. The theoretical analysis and verification experiment of the novel method are presented, which show that high-velocity measurement can be achieved with high precision using this method.  相似文献

In the case of cw Gaussian illumination, the thermo-optical n2 cannot be characterised by a constant value. It is shown that, if absorption has both linear and nonlinear contributions, the thermo-optical n2 consists of a position- and power-dependent term. Hence analytical formulae that assume a constant n2 are no longer valid for the Z-scan fitting. In this paper a new Z-scan theory is introduced, which is applicable to the thermo-optical effect in the presence of both linear and nonlinear absorption and an arbitrary extent of optical nonlinearity. The calculation technique can be used for large sample thickness too, by dividing it into thin slices. It was found that inside one slice, the distribution of the light-induced refraction is similar to that for the case of graded index media. The propagation can be described through the transformation of the q-parameter. It is demonstrated that the Z-scan technique makes the sensitive measurement of the linear absorption coefficient possible. The linear and nonlinear absorption coefficients were experimentally determined for Mg doped LiNbO3 to be =0.6 m-1 and =2.9×10-9 m/W, respectively. PACS 42.79.Ry; 78.20.Nv; 77.84.Dy  相似文献

In this study, a precise method to evaluate nonlinear optical absorption and refraction of materials using z-scan method based on Fresnel–Kirchhoff integral method (FK method) has been offered. The real electric field of a Gaussian beam passing through a nonlinear sample having both nonlinear absorption and refraction has been investigated using FK method. Subsequently, the z-scan curves have been studied. This is the first time that FK method has been used for calculating the nonlinear absorption coefficient. Additionally, an appropriate numerical curve-fitting method for calculating the nonlinear optical coefficients based on z-scan method has been suggested. Z-scan curves and nonlinear optical coefficients have been obtained for TiO2 nanoparticles in CW irradiation regime with the particle size ranges from 70 to 90 nm. This is the first experimental study which uses this analytical numerical method. Finally, all calculated results extracted from this new method have been compared with those of the previous methods.  相似文献

主要从实验和理论两个方面,探讨了强受限尺寸区域内不同尺寸对CdSe量子点线性和非线性光学性质的影响.用吸收光谱研究了量子点尺寸与吸收峰之间的关系,用皮秒Z扫描技术研究了共振和非共振情况下(激发光波长分别为532和1064nm),尺寸与三阶非线性极化率之间的关系.基于电子能量状态理论和局域场增强理论对量子点进行分析,得到了CdSe不同尺寸的三阶非线性效应,研究了尺寸对量子点非线性光学性质的影响.结果表明,由激发态粒子数布局改变和纳米颗粒增大引起的非线性共振增强效应相当,二者共同作用使得三阶极化率增强20倍左右,且用532nm的共振频率激发4.3nm CdSe量子点时,χ(3)具有最大值2.0×10-11esu. 关键词: CdSe量子点 三阶非线性 Z扫描')" href="#">Z扫描 量子限域效应  相似文献

The method for measuring second-order nonlinear optical coefficients based on well-known Z-scan is presented. The influence of linear absorption coefficients on normalized transmittance is discussed. Using this method, we obtained the second-order nonlinear coefficient d31(5%MgO:LiNbO3) = 4.5 × 10−12 m/v at 1064 nm, which agrees well with theoretical calculations and previous well-known values.  相似文献

Z-Scan experiment using partially coherent beams is investigated theoretically. We derive the expression for the cross-spectral density of the Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) beam passing through the nonlinear thin sample. Then the influences of the aperture radius and the spatial degree of coherence on the z-scan curves are analyzed. We find that transmittance difference ΔTp-v between the peak and valley in z-scan curves decreases gradually with the increment of the aperture radius, which is similar to the case of the fully coherent beams. It is also shown that ΔTp-v is getting bigger with the increment of the spatial degree of coherence α0, and when α0 is larger than a certain value, ΔTp-v becomes almost unchanged. The results show that the z-scan experiment with partially coherent beams may provide a feasible method for measuring the spatial degree of coherence.  相似文献

The third-order nonlinear optical properties of polyurethane-urea/multiwalled carbon nanotube composites (PU/MWNT) films with different MWNT concentrations are investigated by the use of the Z-scan technique at a wavelength of 532 nm with a pulse duration of 8 ns. The results reveal that the nonlinear refraction and absorption coefficients are linearly dependent on the MWNT concentration. The negative nonlinear refraction effect is validated from the closed-aperture Z-scan measurements. We find that PU/MWNT films are promising nonlinear optical materials, and the nonlinear coefficients can be controlled.  相似文献

An experimental study and theoretical modeling of the nonlinear changes in transmission coefficient and refractive index of mono-crystalline Silicon (Si) at long-pulse, mJ-range, single-beam Z-scan probing at 1.54 μm wavelength are reported. It is shown experimentally that at increasing pulse energy density the photo-induced darkening permanently increases in Si while its photo refraction properties demonstrate a more complicate character, being a product of various type nonlinearities. A theoretical analysis based on simple assumptions of a square-shape pulse in the time domain and Gaussian spatial distribution of the probe beam allows fitting of a whole of the experimentally measured open- and closed-aperture Z-scans through an account of the main contributions in the light-induced absorption and refractive index nonlinearities. These are revealed to originate from non-direct two-photon absorption and Kerr effect, induced absorption and dispersion of light-generated free carriers, and light-induced thermal lensing.  相似文献

We report the direct measurement of free carrier nonlinearity in a semiconductor-doped glass with picosecond pump-probe Z-scan experiment. A strong Z-scan signal from a weak and time delayed probe beam is observed. The probe beam Z-scan signal is comparable in magnitude to the Z-scan signal of the intense pump beam, clearly showing the dominance of the effective fifth order nonlinearity due to the pump beam generated free carriers in the overall nonlinear response of semiconductor-doped glass. The estimated magnitude of the fifth order nonlinearity is consistent with that obtained from earlier reported experiments.  相似文献
