A theoretical study is presented on the propagation properties of Lamb wave modes in phononic crystal slabs consisting of a row or more of parallel square cylinders placed periodically in the host material. The surfaces of the slabs are parallel to the axis of periodicity. The dispersion curves of Lamb wave modes are calculated based on the supercell method. The finite element method is employed to calculate the band structures and the transmission power spectra, which are in good agreement with the results by the supercell method. We also have found that the dispersion curves of Lamb waves are strongly dependent on the crystal termination, which is the position of the cut plane through the square cylinders. There exist complete or incomplete (truncated) layers of square cylinders with the change of the crystal termination. The influence of the crystal termination on the band gaps of Lamb wave modes is analyzed by numerical simulations. The variation of the crystal termination leads to obvious changes in the dispersion curves of the Lamb waves and the widths of the band gaps.  相似文献

A nonlinear Lamb wave approach is presented for characterizing the surface properties of a solid plate. This characterization approach is useful for some practical situations where ultrasonic transducers cannot touch the surfaces to be inspected, e.g. the inside surfaces of sealed vessels. In this paper, the influences of changes in the surface properties of a solid plate on the effect of second-harmonic generation by Lamb wave propagation were analyzed. A surface coating with the different properties was used to simulate changes in the surface properties of a solid plate. When the areas and thicknesses of coatings on the surface of a given solid plate changed, the amplitude-frequency curves both of the fundamental waves and the second harmonics by Lamb wave propagation were measured under the condition that Lamb waves had a strong nonlinearity. It was found that changes in the surface properties might clearly affect the efficiency of second-harmonic generation by Lamb wave propagation. The Stress Wave Factors (SWFs) in acousto-ultrasonic technique were used for reference, and the definitions of the SWFs of Lamb waves were introduced. The preliminary experimental results showed that the second-harmonic SWF of Lamb wave propagation could effectively be used to characterize changes in the surface properties of the given solid plate.  相似文献

The influence of liquid layers on the propagation of Lamb waves in a plate of finite thickness is studied theoretically. The dispersion equations of Lamb waves in a plate bordered with layers of liquids are derived. Numerical solutions of the equations show that the phase velocity of Lamb waves changes with the thickness of the liquid layers. For the lowest antisymmetrical mode of very thin plates, the numerical results calculated from the dispersion equations are compared with those derived from the bending wave acoustic impedance approach. The limitation of the latter is discussed. Applications of Lamb waves pertinent to biosensing are also presented.  相似文献

Lamb波在传播过程中具有频散及多模态特性,若相关参数选择不当,会导致在实际应用中信号相互叠加而无法识别。本文基于Lamb波的频散曲线是其频散方程实数解分布的特点,采用二分法绘制了铝板中Lamb波的频散曲线、波结构曲线和入射角曲线。根据曲线选择S0模态的Lamb波对1mm厚铝板中不同类型的缺陷进行检测。实验结果表明,S0模态的Lamb波对裂纹型缺陷和贯穿型缺陷十分敏感,但对于裂纹型缺陷,其幅值变化并不与缺陷大小成线性关系,并且S0模态Lamb波的声场指向性十分集中,在偏离声束轴线时无法检测到缺陷。  相似文献

本文研究了薄板二面有固体导负载时板中Lamb波的传播,从弹性波理论出发并结合应的边界条件,导出板中Lamb波的色散方程,数值计算表示,不管作为自由状态时板中Lamb波相速(板厚取定时)是大于或小于外层固体的声表面波波速,板中对称及反对称模式的Lamb波相速都随着外层固体层厚度增加而变化并且渐近于外层固体的声表面波波速,数值计算又表明,对很薄的板,板中对称及反对称模式的相速均随负载板的厚度呈线性变化  相似文献

该文针对我国高速铁路轨道板缺陷的非接触动态检测问题,研究了空气耦合超声兰姆波在轨道板中的传播规律。首先,给出了轨道板中超声兰姆波的相速度和群速度频散曲线,结果表明:随着频厚积的增加,频散现象越明显,并且A0相速度收敛于Rayleigh波的波速。然后,建立轨道板中波传播的有限元模型,计算得到兰姆波传播的群速度为2220 m/s,且二维傅里叶变换系数的较大值沿Rayleigh波的频散曲线分布。最后,在沪杭高铁嘉兴南站进行了现场测试,以8.8°倾斜角向轨道板激励产生超声兰姆波,激发产生的兰姆波模态群速度为2325 m/s,且二维傅里叶变换分析其系数的较大值沿Rayleigh波的频散曲线分布。有限元计算结果和实验结果均与理论计算结果一致。该研究为后续轨道板缺陷的非接触动态检测提供了理论依据和实验方法。  相似文献

The influence of change in inner layer thickness of a composite circular tube is investigated on second-harmonic generation(SHG) by primary circumferential ultrasonic guided wave(CUGW) propagation. Within a secondorder perturbation approximation, the nonlinear effect of primary CUGW propagation is treated as a second-order perturbation to its linear response. It is found that change in inner layer thickness of the composite circular tube will influence the efficiency of SHG by primary CUGW propagation in several aspects. In particular, with change in inner layer thickness, the phase velocity matching condition that is originally satisfied for the primary and double-frequency CUGW mode pair selected may no longer be satisfied. This will remarkably influence the efficiency of SHG by primary CUGW propagation. Theoretical analyses and numerical results show that the effect of SHG by primary CUGW propagation is very sensitive to change in inner layer thickness, and it can be used to accurately monitor a minor change in inner layer thickness of the composite circular tube.  相似文献

A theoretical model to analyze the nonlinear circumferential guided wave(CGW) propagation in a composite circular tube(CCT) is established. The response features of nonlinear CGWs to early damage [denoted by variations in third-order elastic constants(TOECs)] in an inner layer of CCT are investigated. On the basis of the modal expansion approach, the second-harmonic field of primary CGW propagation can be assumed to be a linear sum of a series of double-frequency CGW(DFCGW) modes. The quantitative relationship of DFCGW mode versus the relative changes in the inner layer TOECs is then investigated. It is found that the changes in the inner layer TOECs of CCT will obviously affect the driving source of DFCGW mode and its modal expansion coefficient, which is intrinsically able to influence the efficiency of cumulative second-harmonic generation(SHG) by primary CGW propagation. Theoretical analyses and numerical simulations demonstrate that the second harmonic of primary CGW is monotonic and very sensitive to the changes in the inner layer TOECs of CCT, while the linear properties of primary CGW propagation almost remain unchanged. Our results provide a potential application for accurately characterizing the level of early damage in the inner layer of CCT through the efficiency of cumulative SHG by primary CGW propagation.  相似文献

在基频与二倍频兰姆波相速度匹配但群速度失配的条件下, 通过选择适当的兰姆波二次谐波时域信号的测量起止时间, 可完全扣除换能器对二次谐波积分振幅测量所带来的影响。本文提出采用兰姆波二次谐波的积分振幅作为评价参量, 以实现对板材表面性质的准确评价。当板材表面性质发生改变时, 原本在理想表面条件下成立的基频与二倍频兰姆波相速度匹配的条件不再严格满足, 这将显著地影响到兰姆波的二次谐波发生效率, 相应的二次谐波积分振幅随表面性质的改变也将发生非常敏感的单调变化。实验结果表明,利用扣除换能器影响之后所测得的兰姆波二次谐波的积分振幅,可对板材表面性质的变化情况进行准确评价。  相似文献

The influences of phase and group velocity matching on cumulative second harmonic generation of Lamb waves are investigated in numerical perspective.Finite element simulations of nonlinear Lamb wave propagation are performed for Lamb wave mode pairs with exact and approximate phase velocity matching,with and without group velocity matching,respectively.The evolution of time-domain second harmonic Lamb waves is analyzed with the propagation distance.The amplitudes of primary and second harmonic waves are calculated to characterize the acoustic nonlinearity.The results verify that phase velocity matching is necessary for generation of the cumulative second harmonic Lamb wave in numerical perspective,while group velocity matching is demonstrated to not be a necessary condition.  相似文献

Arterial elasticity has been proposed as an independent predictor of cardiovascular diseases and mortality. Identification of the different propagating modes in thin shells can be used to characterize the elastic properties. Ultrasound radiation force was used to generate local mechanical waves in the wall of a urethane tube or an excised pig carotid artery. The waves were tracked using pulse-echo ultrasound. A modal analysis using two-dimensional discrete fast Fourier transform was performed on the time-space signal. This allowed the visualization of different modes of propagation and characterization of dispersion curves for both structures. The urethane tube/artery was mounted in a metallic frame, embedded in tissue-mimicking gelatin, cannulated, and pressurized over a range of 10-100 mmHg. The k-space and the dispersion curves of the urethane tube showed one mode of propagation, with no effect of transmural pressure. Fitting of a Lamb wave model estimated Young's modulus in the urethane tube around 560 kPa. Young's modulus of the artery ranged from 72 to 134 kPa at 10 and 100 mmHg, respectively. The changes observed in the artery dispersion curves suggest that this methodology of exciting mechanical waves and characterizing the modes of propagation has potential for studying arterial elasticity.  相似文献

考虑到发射和接收换能器对超声兰姆波时域二次谐波信号所带来的不可避免的影响,提出一种基于基频与二倍频兰姆波群速度失配的超声兰姆波二次谐波的时域测量方法。当基频与二倍频超声兰姆波的相速度匹配而群速度失配时,在超声兰姆波传播过程中所发生的二次谐波信号,在时域上可与源于斜劈换能器的二次谐波信号相分离。采用仅源自于基频兰姆波的时域二次谐波的积分振幅,定量描述兰姆波二次谐波的发生效率。以铝板中传播的兰姆波为例,给出了时域二次谐波的具体测量过程。本文提出的测量方法放宽了超声兰姆波二次谐波的测量条件,且扣除了换能器对二次谐波信号所带来的影响,所测得的二次谐波信号完全来自于基频兰姆波时域信号的二次谐波发生效应。   相似文献

This paper studies the mode selection of Lamb waves for evaluating solid plates with liquid loading. For this purpose, the Lamb wave selected should have the features such as zero normal displacement components at the plate surface in contact with liquid, small dispersion, and maximum group velocity. It is found that when the phase velocity of Lamb wave is equal to the longitudinal wave velocity of the plate material, its normal displacement at the plate surface is always zero. Through the numerical analyses, the specific S2 Lamb wave that has zero normal displacement component at the plate surface, small dispersion and maximum group velocity compared with the other Lamb waves has been found. With respect to the specific S2 Lamb wave, some experimental examinations have been carried out. It is found that the liquid loading on the plate surface has less influence on the specific S2 Lamb wave signal but it can effectively eliminate the other signals. Moreover, the specific S2 Lamb wave selected exhibits the capability of detecting multiple defects in the solid plate with the liquid loading. It can be concluded that the specific S2 Lamb wave selected is suitable for the evaluation of solid plates with liquid loading.  相似文献

In this paper, Lamb wave propagation in a homogeneous and isotropic non-classical micro/nano-plates is investigated. To consider the effect of material microstructure on the wave propagation, three size-dependent models namely indeterminate-, modified- and consistent couple stress theories are used to extract the dispersion equations. In the mentioned theories, a parameter called ‘characteristic length’ is used to consider the size of material microstructure in the governing equations. To generalize the parametric studies and examine the effect of thickness, propagation wavelength, and characteristic length on the behavior of miniature plate structures, the governing equations are nondimensionalized by defining appropriate dimensionless parameters. Then the dispersion curves for phase and group velocities are plotted in terms of a wide frequency-thickness range to study the lamb waves propagation considering microstructure effects in very high frequencies. According to the illustrated results, it was observed that the couple stress theories in the Cosserat type material predict more rigidity than the classical theory; so that in a plate with constant thickness, by increasing the thickness to characteristic length ratio, the results approach to the classical theory, and by reducing this ratio, wave propagation speed in the plate is significantly increased. In addition, it is demonstrated that for high-frequency Lamb waves, it converges to dispersive Rayleigh wave velocity.  相似文献

Changes(degradations) in the mechanical properties of solid plates induced by cyclic fatigue loading will influence the features of ultrasonic Lamb wave propagation,such as dispersion and attenuation.This paper has qualitatively analyzed the feasibility of using the amplitude-frequency characteristics and the stress wave factors(SWFs) of ultrasonic Lamb wave propagation to assess fatigue damage in solid plates.Liquid wedge transducers located on the surface of solid plates tested are used to generate and detect the Lamb wave signals.Based on the Ritec-SNAP ultrasonic measurement system,the experimental setup for assessing the degree of fatigue damage in solid plates using ultrasonic Lamb wave approach has been established.For several rolled aluminum sheets subjected to tension-tension cyclic loading,the experimental examinations have been performed for the relationships between the amplitude-frequency characteristics of ultrasonic Lamb wave propagation and the numbers of loading cycles(denoted by N),as well as the correlations between the Lamb wave SWFs and N.The experimental results show that the Lamb wave SWFs decrease monotonously and sensitively with the increment of cycles of fatigue loading.Based on the correlations between the Lamb wave SWFs and N,it is further verified that ultrasonic Lamb wave propagation combined with the Lamb wave SWFs can be used to effectively assess early fatigue damage in solid plates.  相似文献

为了研究变壁厚结构中兰姆波的传播特性,以K9玻璃制成的台阶板为波导,运用动态光弹法实现了兰姆波在阶梯板中传播过程的可视化。使用MATLAB对兰姆波的理论应力分布进行了仿真,将仿真结果与光弹图像相对比以进行模式识别。此外,根据兰姆波的动态光弹图像计算了特定模式的相速度,并与相速度频散曲线相对比,以支持模式识别的结果。对4mm-3mm和4mm-2mm厚度差台阶板进行了对比分析。研究发现在激励目标模式的兰姆波时,可能会出现非目标模式,并且兰姆波的模态转换与频散程度与台阶处的厚度差有关。本文的结果可对具有相同性质类似结构材料的无损检测提供参考。  相似文献

The physical process of cumulative second-harmonic generation of Lamb waves propagating in a two-layered solid plate is presented by using the second-order perturbation and the technique of nonlinear reflection of acoustic waves at an interface. In general, the cumulative second-harmonic generation of a dispersive guided wave propagation does not occur. However, the present paper shows that the second-harmonic of Lamb wave propagation arising from the nonlinear interaction of the partial bulk acoustic waves and the restriction of the three boundaries of the solid plates does have a cumulative growth effect if some conditions are satisfied. Through boundary condition and initial condition of excitation, the analytical expression of cumulative second-harmonic of Lamb waves propagation is determined. Numerical results show the cumulative effect of Lamb waves on second-harmonic field patterns.  相似文献

The dynamic photoelastic technique is employed to visualize and quantify the propagation properties of backward Lamb waves in a plate. Higher energy leaikage of second-order symmetric backward wave mode S_(2 b) in contrast to third-order anti-symmetric backward mode A3 b is shown by the dispersion curve of a plate immersed in water,and then verified by experiments. To avoid the considerable high leakage, the plate is placed in air, both group and phase velocities of modes S_(2 b) and A3 b in the glass plate are experimentally measured. In comparison with the theoretical values, less than 5% errors are found in experiments.  相似文献
