Anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were covalently anchored onto acid-treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) through a nanocoating-hydrothermal process to obtain TiO2-MWNTs nanocomposites. The composition and structural properties of the nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, BET, TG, TEM, HRTEM, EDX, XPS, and FTIR, and the formation of ester-bond linkage between TiO2 nanoparticles and MWNTs was demonstrated. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of TiO2-MWNTs nanocomposites was probed by photodegradation reaction of methylene blue under visible-light irradiation.  相似文献

Composite photocatalysts composed of TiO2 and ZrO2 have been prepared via the sol-gel method. The as-prepared nanocomposites are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-vis spectrometry and fluorescence emission spectra. The results shows that TiO2/ZrO2 nanocomposites are composed of mainly anatase titania and tetragonal ZrO2. Incorporating TiO2 particles with ZrO2 plays an important role in promoting the formation of nanoparticles with an anatase structure and leads to decreased fluorescence emission intensity. Most of the TiO2/ZrO2 nanocomposites exhibited comparable photocatalytic activity compared with commercial TiO2 for the degradation aqueous methyl orange (MO) under ultraviolet irradiation, while the composite with Zr/Ti mass ratio of 15.2% shows the highest photocatalytic performances. Furthermore, the as-prepared nanocomposites can be reused with little photocatalytic activity loss. Without any further treatment besides rinsing, the photocatalytic activity of TiO2/ZrO2 (15.2%) composites is still higher than after five-cycle utilization.  相似文献

TiO2 nanoparticles were self-assembled on three different dimensional nanocarbon (SWCNT, C60 and graphene) surfaces by a uniform thermal reaction. The effective anchoring of TiO2 nanoparticles on the nanocarbon surfaces was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, XPS, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, PL and UV-Vis. By investigating the effect of different carbon nanostructures on TiO2 photocatalyst system, we found that the enhancing photocatalytic activities of nanocarbon/TiO2 (NT) nanocomposites have still related to great adsorbability and effective charge transfer by nanocarbon introduced, however, no more insights can be provided for peculiar properties on different nanostructures, although graphene by itself has an excellent structure and morphology.  相似文献

A facile hydrothermal method has been developed to be capable of decorating graphene oxide (GO) with flower-like TiO2 nanocrystals without using any bridging species. The flower-like TiO2 nanocrystals were uniformly self-assembled on the surface of GO nanosheets. The photocatalytic activity experiment indicated that the prepared TiO2/GO nanocomposites exhibited a higher photocatalytic activity for the photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RB) aqueous solution under the UV illumination, this methodology made the synthesis of TiO2/GO nanocomposites possible and may be further extended to prepare more complicated nanocomposites based on GO for technological applications.  相似文献

Recently, there is crucial interest in the design and fabrication of nanocatalysts for efficient decomposition of organic pollutants in wastewater using visible light. This work reports the assembling fabrication of synergetic photocatalytic Au/TiO2/RGO nanostructures by utilizing the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) as substrate material and efficient separator for electrons and holes. The Au/TiO2 nanostructures with a ≈7 nm TiO2 particles size are dispersed uniformly on RGO nanosheets. UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy verifies that Au/TiO2/RGO nanocomposites show strong absorption of visible light. The degradation efficiency after 1 h for hydroquinone under visible light and UV light is ≈77% and ≈90%, respectively. Under visible light, the calculated apparent rates (k ) of the Au/TiO2/RGO nanocomposites are 0.0112 and 0.0174 min?1 for decomposition of methylene blue and hydroquinone. That are five times greater than that of bare TiO2. The high photocatalytic activity is mainly attributed to the synergy between RGO and Au/TiO2 nanostructure. The strategy of composite nanostructures assembling on RGO is ensured to have a great practicable potential for the designing of high efficient multielement composite nanoparticles catalysts.  相似文献

In this study, new nanoscale photocatalyst based on silver and CNTs/TiO2 was successfully prepared by photoreduction method. The prepared Ag-CNTs/TiO2 was characterized by TEM, XRD and XPS. The photocatalytic activity was also evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B dye. The results indicated that the photocatalytic efficiency of CNTs/TiO2 increased in the presence of Ag nanoparticles and the photocatalysis reaction followed a first order kinetics. The kinetic constant of Ag-CNTs/TiO2 for dye degradation was nearly 1.2 times than that of CNTs/TiO2, which indicated decorating Ag nanoparticles on CNTs/TiO2 could enhance the photocatalytic ability.  相似文献

SPR based fiber optic sensor using nanocomposite is presented. Nanocomposites comprising of Pt nanoparticles with various volume fractions embedded in dielectric matrices of TiO2 and SnO2 are considered. Sensitivity enhances with increase in thickness of nanocomposite and volume fraction of nanoparticles for both nanocomposites. Optimized thicknesses are obtained to be 40 and 50 nm for Pt–TiO2 and Pt–SnO2 nanocomposites respectively while optimized volume fraction is found to be 0.85 for both nanocomposites. 40 nm thick Pt–TiO2 nanocomposite based sensor with 0.85 volume fraction possesses utmost sensitivity.  相似文献

A rutile TiO2 (α-TiO2) and hexagonal wurtzite ZnO nanocomposite was directly and synchronously synthesized via arc discharge method submerged in de-ionized water. In correlation with the detailed characterization of the morphology, and crystalline structure of the prepared ZnO–TiO2 nanocomposites, the UV–visible and photoluminescence properties were studied. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy investigations revealed the co-existence of α-TiO2 and hexagonal wurtzite ZnO phases with the ZnO and α-TiO2 nanoparticles are in nanorod and nanospheres morphologies, respectively. The diameters of the synthesized nanocomposite particles are in the range of 5–70 nm. Interestingly, the as-prepared ZnO–TiO2 nanocomposite shows better photocatalytic activity for photodegradation of the methylene blue dye than both of pure ZnO and TiO2 nanocatalyts. This work would explore feasible routes to synthesize efficient metal or/and metal oxide nanocomposites for degrading organic pollutants, gas sensing or other related applications.  相似文献

Porous organic carbon-doped titania (C-TiO2) nanomaterials and their composites with Ag nanoparticles (Ag/C-TiO2) were synthesized by an eggshell membrane templating method, and their structural and photocatalytic properties were systematically characterized. These nanomaterials, exhibiting a macroscopic morphology of a thin film, are composed of interwoven tubes, and the tube wall consists of nanocrystals. The doped organic carbon was composed of the active carbon and carbonate species, which could form a layer around the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles, while the silver was incorporated into Ag/C-TiO2 composites as separated Ag nanoparticles. The degradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation was employed to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of these as-prepared TiO2-based materials. Both C-TiO2 and Ag/C-TiO2 nanomaterials showed higher photocatalytic activity than pure TiO2 material–commercial Degussa P25. These results can be accounted for the coupling effect of the incorporation of carbon species and Ag nanoparticles.  相似文献

Noble metal particles have been embedded in semiconductors to improve photocatalysis efficiently, but the high cost made this approach difficult to apply widely in industry. Herein titanium dioxide/reduced graphene oxide (TiO2/rGO) nanowires in a core-shell structure were prepared. The physicochemical properties and photocatalytic performance of the specimen were characterized in comparison with TiO2 and TiO2/Pt nanowires. The rGO layer and Pt nanoparticles increased chemical states of the components, reduced bandgap energy of the nanowires, enhanced visible light absorption, improved conductance and capacitance significantly. The methylene blue as catalyzed by TiO2/Pt and TiO2/rGO nanowires was degraded to 7.9% and 8.4% in an hour, but retained 25.7% by the TiO2 nanowires. The properties and function of TiO2/rGO nanowires were close to those of TiO2/Pt nanowires, while the rGO price was much lower than that of Pt, which was of great significance for the photocatalytic application of TiO2 heterojunction materials in industry.  相似文献

The nanoparticles of TiO2 modified with carbon and iron were synthesized by sol-gel followed solvothermal method at low temperature. Its chemical composition and optical absorption were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), photoluminescence emission spectroscopy (PL), UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). It was found that carbon and iron modification causes the absorption edge of TiO2 to shift the visible light region. Fe(III) cation could be doped into the matrix of TiO2, by which could hinder the recombination rate of excited electrons/holes. Superior photocatalytic activity of TiO2 modified with carbon and iron was observed for the decomposition of acid orange 7 (AO7) under visible light irradiation. The synergistic effects of carbon and iron in modified TiO2 nanoparticles were responsible for improving visible light photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and titanium dioxide nanocomposites (MWCNTs/TiO2) were fabricated by a simple novel colloidal processing route and tested as a photocatalyst for degradation of methylene blue under UV irradiation. The novel idea behind this work is to make MWCNTs and TiO2 nanoparticle suspensions separately highly oppositely charged and utilize the electrostatic force of attraction between two entities to deposit nanotitania onto MWCNTs surface. Particle charge detector, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, energy dispersive X-rays, X-rays diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy were used to characterize the composite. XRD and Raman spectroscopic analysis showed the crystalline structure of deposited TiO2 over MWCNTs surface structure as anatase phase. It was found that MWCNTs/TiO2 composite structure have much higher photocatalytic activity compared to TiO2 nanoparticles. The composite material developed may find potential applications in the degradation of organic pollutants in aqueous medium under UV irradiation.  相似文献

Anatase TiO2 nanoparticles incorporated DLC films were successfully deposited on single crystalline silicon substrates by the electrolysis of TiO2-methanol solution under ambient atmospheric pressure and low temperature. Anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were embedded into amorphous carbon matrix, forming the typical nanocrystalline/amorphous nanocomposite films, confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TiO2 incorporation effectively increased the sp3-hybridized carbon concentration in the composite film, and further regulated the microstructure and surface morphology. Furthermore, the static contact testing completely displayed, TiO2 incorporation got the composite films super-hydrophilic, which fundamentally improved the wetting ability of DLC film.  相似文献

Nanocomposites based on iron and nickel particles encapsulated into carbon (Fe@C and Ni@C), with an average size of the metal core in the range from 5 to 20 nm and a carbon shell thickness of approximately 2 nm, have been prepared by the gas-phase synthesis method in a mixture of argon and butane. It has been found using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and Mössbauer spectroscopy that iron nanocomposites prepared in butane, apart from the carbon shell, contain the following phases: iron carbide (cementite), α-Fe, and γ-Fe. The phase composition of the Fe@C nanocomposite correlates with the magnetization of approximately 100 emu/g at room temperature. The replacement of butane by methane as a carbon source leads to another state of nanoparticles: no carbon coating is formed, and upon subsequent contact with air, the Fe3O4 oxide shell is formed on the surface of nanoparticles. Nickel-based nanocomposites prepared in butane, apart from pure nickel in the metal core, contain the supersaturated metastable solid solution Ni(C) and carbon coating. The Ni(C) solid solution can decompose both during the synthesis and upon the subsequent annealing. The completeness and degree of decomposition depend on the synthesis regime and the size of nickel nanoparticles: the smaller is the size of nanoparticles, the higher is the degree of decomposition into pure nickel and carbon. The magnetization of the Ni@C nanocomposites is determined by several contributions, for example, the contribution of the magnetic solid solution Ni(C) and the contribution of the nonmagnetic carbon coating; moreover, some contribution to the magnetization can be caused by the superparamagnetic behavior of nanoparticles.  相似文献

Ag/TiO2 sol with narrow particle size distribution was synthesized using TiCl4 as the starting material. TiCl4 was converted to Ti(OH)4 gel. The Ag/TiO2 sol was prepared by a process where H2O2 was added and then heated at 90–97 °C. After condensation reaction and crystallization, a transparent sol with suspended Ag/TiO2 was formed. Ag/TiO2 was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, contact angle analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The photocatalytic properties of Ag/TiO2 film were evaluated by degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution under UV light irradiation. The suspended Ag/TiO2 particles were rhombus primary particles with the major axis ca. 40 nm and the minor axis ca. 10 nm. Ag nanoparticles were well dispersed on TiO2 and the particle size was only 1–2 nm. Ag could restrain the recombination of photo-generated electrons and holes effectively. Transparent thin films could be obtained through dip-coating glass substrate in the sol. The thin film had strong hydrophilicity after being illuminated by UV light. Ag/TiO2 film showed a significant increase in photocatalytic activity compared to the TiO2 film. The high amount of surface hydroxyls on Ag/TiO2 film also played an important role in its photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Nanostructure titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been synthesized by hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride in aqueous solution and Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by photoreduction method. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The experimental results showed that the sizes of the synthesized TiO2 and Ag-TiO2 particles are in the range of 1.9-3.2 nm and 2-10 nm, respectively. Moreover, Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles exhibit enhanced photocatalytic activity on photodegradation of Safranin-O (SO) dye as compared to pure TiO2. The positive effect of silver on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 may be explained by its ability to trap electrons. This process reduces the recombination of light generated electron-hole pairs at TiO2 surface and therefore enhances the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles. The effects of initial dye and nanoparticle concentrations on the photocatalytic activity have been studied and the results demonstrate that the dye photodegradation follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. The observed maximum degradation efficiency of SO is about 60% for TiO2 and 96% for Ag-TiO2.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles co-doped with N and Fe were prepared via modified sol-gel process. The products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It is shown that the prepared TiO2 particles were less than 10 nm with narrow particle size distribution. The addition of MCM-41 caused the formation of Ti-O-Si bond which fixed the TiO2 on MCM-41 surface, thus restricted the agglomeration and growth of TiO2 particles. The photocatalytic performance in the degradation of methylene blue showed that N, Fe co-doped TiO2 exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than doped sample with nitrogen or Fe3+ alone under both UV and visible light. N, Fe co-doping decreased the loss of doping N during the degradation reaction, thus increased the photocatalytic stability. It was also found that the nitridation time had significant influence on the photocatalytic activity of prepared TiO2 catalysts.  相似文献

Cr(III)-doped, TiO2-coated active carbon (Cr–TiO2/AC) were prepared by a sol–gel method. The effect of supports, including TiO2 and active carbon (AC), on the molecular structure and photocatalytic activity of chromium oxide for complete decomposition of EDTA has been examined with respect to the content of Cr on the catalyst surface. The photocatalytic activity of the Cr–TiO2/AC composites was evaluated in the decomposition of EDTA solution under UV irradiation. The results indicate that Cr–TiO2/AC has a higher efficiency in decomposition of EDTA than TiO2, TiO2/AC or active carbon. This was attributed to the different functions of active carbon and chromate species. (1) Nanosize TiO2 particles on composites were not reunited, possible because active carbon retards transformation of anatase into rutile and decreases the crystallite size. (2) Production of high concentrations of organic compound near Cr–TiO2. (3) Carbon in active carbon causes some of the TiO2 to reduce to Ti3+ ions, which prevents electron–hole pair recombination. (4) Formation of polychromate species, with a stronger redox capability, on the surface of TiO2/AC. It was found that the addition of Cr to TiO2 sol could suppress the grain growth of TiO2 crystals and increase the hydroxyl content on the surface of TiO2/AC. The photocatalytic efficiency and activity of the composites remained good, even after three cycles.  相似文献

In the preparation of nanocomposites, there is competition between the dispersion of nanoparticles and the formation of agglomerates. In this study, radical copolymerization of ethyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate initiated by 2,2‐azobis (isobutyro) nitrile (AIBN) was performed, in the presence of titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles modified in a new approach; a good dispersion of the nanoparticles in the unsaturated polyester (UP) matrix was obtained. The TiO2 nanoparticles were exposed to 3‐(methacryloxy) propyl trimethoxy silane as the coupling agent. The presence of coupling agent‐grafted TiO2 nanoparticles in the copolymerization process resulted in the formation of a polymeric layer on the surface of the TiO2 nanoparticles (doubly modified‐TiO2). The grafting of coupling agent molecules and consequently copolymer macromolecular chains onto the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles was investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis. It found that the formation of an acrylate layer on the surface of nanoparticles was successful. Then, unsaturated polyester (UP)/TiO2 nanocomposites were prepared. The morphology was studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Mechanical properties and ultraviolet visible (UV/VIS) spectroscopy of various samples, including the doubly modified‐TiO2 nanoparticles, with different nanoparticle inclusions and the unmodified‐TiO2 nanoparticles, were also investigated. The results showed the doubly modified‐TiO2 nanoparticles, compared to those of unmodified‐TiO2, had better nanoparticle dispersion causing improvement in the mechanical properties and UV shielding.  相似文献

Preparation of anatase type titania nanoparticles and their carbon modification were synchronously achieved by the solvothermal method with glycerol as the carbon source. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). It was found that the glycerol/ethanol ratio affected significantly the morphology and properties of TiO2/C composites. The TiO2/C composite which was obtained in the solution with the glycerol/ethanol ratio of 5/75, contained 1.2 mass% carbon and exhibited both superior adsorption capability and visible-light photocatalytic activity. Contrary to this, samples prepared in the solution with higher glycerol/ethanol ratio, exhibited lower photocatalytic activity similar to that of the titania without carbon modification. It was suggested that excess addition of glycerol might contribute to large amounts of carbonaceous species and severe aggregation of the as-prepared samples, and thus reduced the surface area. As a result, the adsorption capability and visible-light photocatalytic activity increased at first and then decreased with the increase of glycerol addition. Present study provided a facile one-step method to obtain TiO2/C composites with a controllable carbon content and photocatalytic performance under mild temperature.  相似文献
