The simplified method of analysis to assess liquefaction potential of a given sand deposit is briefly introduced in the first part of this paper. Then, recent advances in the laboratory testing for evaluating liquefaction resistance are described with a particular emphasis on the sand partly saturated with water. As a means to identify the degree of saturation which is applicable for both field deposits and laboratory samples, the use of the longitudinal wave (P-wave) is proposed based on a suite of data obtained from the triaxial tests in the laboratory. It is recommended that the non-destructive P-wave measurements be carried out first to determine the degree of saturation, and then the cyclic triaxial tests involving large destructive strains should be performed to determine the cyclic strength on the same sample of the sand. In order to demonstrate usefulness of the proposed approach, two sets of undisturbed samples were secured from two sites; one is located in Sakai-minato city which has suffered severe liquefaction at the time of the 2000 Tottoriken-Seibu earthquake and the other site is located in Koshigaya city, Saitama, where likelihood of liquefaction to occur in a future earthquake is of major concern. Penetration tests and in-situ velocity logging were also conducted at these two sites. By adjusting the P-wave velocity of the undisturbed samples in the laboratory so as to have the same velocity in the field, the in-situ state of saturation was reproduced in the laboratory samples. Then, the cyclic loading tests were conducted to determine the cyclic strength of intact samples. The results of the laboratory tests as above were incorporated into the simple method of liquefaction analysis described in the first section of this paper. The analysis seems to yield results which are in reasonably good agreement with what was observed at the time of the earthquake.  相似文献

Based on the reported physical parameters for hexagonal system solids,we have calculated the effects of anisotropy on polarization of plane P-wave propagation.Herein we report the results of calculations and the newly observed physical phenomena.It is found that,for a given propagation,if the polarization is parallel to the wave vector,so also to the Poynting vector.In such a case,the phase velocity is identical to the energy velocity;the quasi P-wave degenerates to a pure P-wave along the propagation.It is also noted that if the polarization is parallel to the Poynting vector but not to the wave vector,the propagating wave cannot be a pure P-wave.Furthermore,the polarization in a quasi P-wave may deviate from the wave vector for more than 45°,but the deviation from the Poynting vector is always less than 45°.The energy velocity of a quasi SV-wave can be larger than that of the quasi P-wave in some propagation directions,even though the phase velocity of a quasi SV-wave may never be larger than either the phase velocity or energy velocity of the quasi P-wave.Finally,in case of parameters ε=0 and δ*≠0,the polarization of a quasi P-wave has an observed symmetry at a 45°phase angle.The anisotropy of a hexagonal system solid determines if a pure P-wave can be created and what the propagation direction is for a plane wave propagating inside such a hexagonal system solid.  相似文献

为了深入研究不同入射频率下超声波纵波在砂岩中的传播特性,以灰、红、褐砂岩为研究对象,开展了基于50 k Hz、100 kHz、200 kHz、500 kHz和1000 kHz入射频率的超声波纵波测试。提取纵波波速、幅值衰减系数、主频幅值、波形能量这些声学参数,结合入射频率和砂岩孔隙率进行传播特性的相关性分析。结果表明,在3种砂岩中,纵波波速随入射频率增大呈非线性增长趋势,砂岩种类不同,波速增长规律也不同;波形能量和主频幅值随入射频率呈指数关系降低;灰、红砂岩纵波波速随孔隙率越大,下降速率越大,褐砂岩在同级孔隙率下波速差异性明显。建立了基于3种砂岩的入射频率和幅值衰减系数的回归方程;基于200 kHz的入射频率,建立了砂岩孔隙率于波形能量的回归方程,实际测试中建议采用200 kHz作为入射频率,可较好兼顾检测的灵敏度和探测距离。研究成果为建立声学参数与砂岩抗压强度之间的内在联系提供了更多数据支撑,为实际物探测试中超声波入射频率的选择提供参考。  相似文献

In the present paper an improved approximation for the Rayleigh wave velocity in isotropic elastic solids is obtained using the method of least squares. It is of Bergmann’s form, i.e. the form of the ratio of two binomials. It is shown that this approximation is the best one of the Rayleigh wave velocity, in the sense of least squares, with respect to the class of functions whose elements are the ratio of two binomials. This approximation is much more accurate than Bergmann’s one. Its maximum percentage error is 10 times smaller than that of Bergmann’s. It is 7.6 times better than the one obtained recently by Royer and Clorennec [D. Royer, D. Clorennec, An improved approximation for the Rayleigh wave equation, Ultrasonics 46 (2007) 23–24]. An approximation of Bergmann’s form for the squared Rayleigh wave velocity is also derived and its maximum percentage error is 5 times smaller than that of Royer and Clorennec’s approximation. Some polynomial approximations with very high accuracy are also obtained.  相似文献

 建立了一套光学记录速度干涉仪系统(ORVIS),用于测量强激光产生的冲击波状态方程中的自由面速度。该光学记录速度干涉仪系统的时间分辨率为179 ps,可以测量自由面速度随时间变化的整个过程。在天光KrF高功率准分子激光装置上进行激光打靶实验,激光波长248.4 nm,脉冲宽度25 ns,最大输出能量158 J。在激光功率密度为6.24×1011W·cm-2的条件下,测得厚20 μm铁膜的自由面速度可达3.86 km/s;在激光功率密度为7.28×1011W·cm-2条件下,100 μm铝膜(靶前有100 μm的CH膜作为烧蚀层)的自由面速度可以达到2.87 km/s。  相似文献

To summarize some of the most important findings in the field of ultrasonic (US) testing of early age hydration and formation of structure of different cement based materials (CBMs), a review of literature with focus on US P-wave transmission and S-wave reflection methods is presented in this paper. The review shows a great ability of both US techniques to observe setting phenomena and to determine different milestones during the early age formation of CBM’s microstructure. Clear physical basis, high accuracy, and non-destructive nature of the method indicate that US methods could become standardized in the near future.  相似文献

This paper concentrates on the wave motion at the interface of viscous compressible fluid half-space and homogeneous isotropic, generalized thermoelastic diffusive half-space. The wave solutions in both the fluid and thermoelastic diffusive half-spaces have been investigated; and the complex dispersion equation of leaky Rayleigh wave motion have been derived. The phase velocity and attenuation coefficient of leaky Rayleigh waves have been computed from the complex dispersion equation by using the Muller's method. The amplitudes of displacements, temperature change and concentration have been obtained. The effects of viscosity and diffusion on phase velocity and attenuation coefficient of leaky Rayleigh waves motion for different theories of thermoelastic diffusion have been depicted graphically. The magnitude of heat and mass diffusion flux vectors for different theories of thermoelastic diffusion have also been computed and represented graphically.  相似文献

开展花岗岩三点弯曲试验,利用横纵波两种传感器接收花岗岩破坏过程的声发射信号,对比分析声发射横纵波信号的时频特征,在此基础上,基于声发射横纵波建立损伤变量,探讨花岗岩三点弯曲条件下损伤演化规律。研究结果表明:花岗岩破坏过程声发射横纵波事件率变化趋势较为相似,临近峰值载荷时均加速上升,破坏时达到峰值,但纵波事件率加速点早于横波事件率;声发射横纵波能率变化趋势一致,呈现峰前低水平稳定变化、峰后陡升到峰值的特征。声发射横纵波主频在临近峰值载荷逐渐形成主频条带,但其频率存在差异,纵波主频分布在0~10 kHz、30~50 kHz和100~110 kHz,而横波主频集中分布在0~10 kHz。相比纵波损伤变量,横波损伤变量能够刻画峰后损伤急速发展的过程,能较好地表征花岗岩三点弯曲作用下损伤变化规律。  相似文献

We present measurements of Eulerian longitudinal velocity autocorrelations in homogeneous, isotropic, high-intensity (~9%) free-stream turbulence behind an active grid. Spatial correlations are measured using particle image velocimetry as well as with two-point hot-wire anemometry (HWA), while temporal correlations are measured using HWA. The temporal correlations are transformed into spatial correlations by using Taylor's ‘frozen’ hypothesis with both the mean as well as instantaneous velocities. A model relating Eulerian spatial and temporal autocorrelations is also used for this purpose. The differences from the measured spatial correlation resulting from the use of Taylor's hypothesis on the temporal correlation is quantified; even at this moderately high level of turbulent intensity, the result from the use of the instantaneous velocity as convection velocity is practically indistinguishable from that obtained using the mean velocity. Use of the model produces a good agreement between the estimates of the spatial correlation function. A relation between Eulerian spatial and temporal integral scales is also derived.  相似文献

In the upper tens of meters of ocean bottom, unconsolidated marine sediments consisting of clay, silt, or fine sand with high porosity are "almost incompressible" in the sense that the shear wave velocity is much smaller than the compressional wave velocity. The shear velocity has very large gradients close to the ocean floor leading to strong coupling of compressional and shear waves in such "soft" sediments. The weak compressibility opens an avenue for developing a theory of elastic wave propagation in continuously stratified soft sediments that fully accounts for the coupling. Elastic waves in soft sediments consist of "fast" waves propagating with velocities close to the compressional velocity and "slow" waves propagating with velocities on the order of the shear velocity. For the slow waves, the theory predicts the existence of surface waves at the ocean-sediment boundary. In the important special case of the power-law depth-dependence of shear rigidity, phase and group velocities of the interface waves are shown to scale as a certain power of frequency. An explicit, exact solution was obtained for the surface waves in sediments characterized by constant density and a linear increase of shear rigidity with depth, that is, for the case of shear speed proportional to the square root of the depth below the sediment-water interface. Asymptotic and perturbation techniques were used to extend the result to more general environments. Theoretical dispersion relations agreed well with numerical simulations and available experimental data and, as demonstrated in a companion paper [D. M. F. Chapman and O. A. Godin, J. Acoust. Soc. Am 110, 1908 (2001)] led to a simple and robust inversion of interface wave travel times for shear velocity profiles in the sediment.  相似文献

The longitudinal wave velocity and attenuation measurements of artificial gas hydrate samples at a low temperature are reported. And the temperature and pressure dependence of longitudinal wave velocity is also investigated. In order to understand the acoustic properties of gas hydrate, the pure ice, the pure tetrahydrofuran (THF), the pure gas hydrate samples and sand sediment containing gas hydrate are measured at a low temperature between 0°C and −15°C. For the pure ice, the pure THF and the pure gas hydrate samples, whose density is 898 kg/m3, 895 kg/m3 and 475 kg/m3, the velocity of longitudinal wave is respectively 3574 m/s, 3428 m/s and 2439 m/s. For synthesized and compacted samples, the velocity of synthesized samples is lower than that of compacted samples. The velocities increase when the densities of the samples increase, while the attenuation decreases. Under the condition of low temperature, the results show that the velocity is slightly affected by the temperature. The results also show that wave velocities increase with the increase of piston pressures. For example, the velocity of one sample increases from 3049 up to 3337 m/s and the other increases from 2315 up to 2995 m/s. But wave velocity decreases from 3800 to 3546 m/s when the temperature increases from −15°C to 5°C and changes significantly close to the melting point. Formation conditions of the two samples are the same but with different conversion ratios of water. The results of the experiment are important for exploration of the gas hydrate resources and development of acoustic techniques. Reactions of an unconsolidated medium to a strong impact action are considered. A character of medium relaxation was controlled based on changes in the phase velocity of a trial Rayleigh wave. The analysis of the R-wave dispersion and its dependence on the distance to the source allowed for estimating the dimensions of a space region where the impact action was revealed. Seismoacoustic measurements showed that the time dependence of the R-wave is logarithmic.  相似文献

We obtain the complete time dependence of the velocity autocorrelation function (VACF) for lattice gas cellular automata, usingring kinetic theory. This theory accounts for the simplest correlated collisions that improve on the molecular chaos approach, and yields a closed equation for the VACF that we evaluate for both infinite and finite systems. We compare our analytical results with numerical simulations at all times, as well as with long-time results of the mode coupling theories, finding a very good agreement for all times at all densities.  相似文献

In anisotropic media, the direction of energy propagation does not necessarily coincide with the wave normal, i.e. the energy flux vector does not coincide with the wave normal. Since, experimentally, one measures group velocity not phase velocity, one must therefore be careful in interpreting ultrasonic wave speed measurements in anisotropic media. This is of particular importance in elastic property reconstruction where acoustic velocity measurements are used as the basis for determining anisotropic material properties. In this work, the consequences of energy flux deviation from the wave normal are considered for typical experimental geometries. Particular attention is devoted to developing appropriate relationships between the phase velocity and ultrasonic transit time measurements, as these relations are most useful for elastic property reconstruction. In all the cases considered, it is shown that the phase velocity can be directly calculated from appropriate time delay measurements.  相似文献

Ultrasonic wave reflection coefficients of aqueous solutions were measured using high-impact polystyrene as a buffer material to provide enhanced sensitivity over metal or ceramic buffer materials. The wave reflection values showed linear reduction when the concentration of chemical species in solution was increased, but a distinct relation between concentration and reflection coefficient was obtained for each solute species tested. However, more unified relationships were observed between reflection coefficient and other solution parameters – solution density, acoustic impedance, and P-wave velocity – that were consistent for all solution species. Based on this behavior an expression to compute solution density solely from reflection coefficient is derived, which can be applied to estimate solution density in solutions of unknown solute species and concentration when other measurements, such as wave velocity, are not possible.  相似文献

We combine fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and sedimentation velocity measurements to probe the hydrodynamic behavior of tubulin dimers and nanoscopic tubulin rings. The rings are rigid, have circular geometry, and are monodisperse in size. We use the high-precision ratio of the sedimentation coefficients and that of the translational diffusion coefficients to validate theories for calculating the hydrodynamic properties of supramolecular structures.  相似文献
