Experimental Observation of Bright and Dark Solitons Mode-Locked with Zirconia-Based Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser 下载免费PDF全文
We demonstrate the generation of dark and bright solitons with our homemade zirconia-based erbium-doped fiber and graphene oxide(GO) saturable absorber in anomalous dispersion region.The GO is fabricated using an abridged Hummer's method,which is combined with polyethylene oxide to produce a composite film.The film is sandwiched between two optical ferrules and embedded in the laser cavity to enhance its birefringence and nonlinearity.The self-starting bright soliton is easily generated at pump power of 78 mW with the whole length cavity of 14.7 m.The laser produces the bright pulse train with repetition rate,pulse width,pulse energy and central wavelength being 13.9 MHz,0.6 ps,2.74 p J and 1577.46 nm,respectively.Then,by adding the 10 m of single mode fiber into the laser cavity,dark soliton pulse is produced.For the formation of dark pulse train,the measured repetition rate,pulse width,pulse energy and central wavelength are 8.3 MHz,20 ns and 4.98 p J and1596.82 nm,respectively.Both pulses operate in the anomalous region. 相似文献

The switching between bright pulse and dark pulse can be realized by properly rotating the polarization controller (PC). Meanwhile, the bright-dark pulse can also be generated in the fiber laser and is experimentally verified to be on two different

By using the perturhation theory and small-amplitude approximation with the self-induced Raman effect and the loss as well as gain of the fiber taken into account, the transmission properties of solitons in the nomal dispersion region near the zero-group-dispersion wavelength are analytically investigated in this paper. The result shows that not only the small-amplitude dark soliton but also the small-amplitude bright soliton may exist in the normal dispersion region near the zero-group-dispersion point. Their stabilities depend on the propagating direction and the region in which they are situated in the parameter-space. The conversion between bright and dark solitons may be realized by controlling the relative intensities of gain and loss along the fiber. This may be applied to the logic or arithmetic devices in the integrated optical circuit. 相似文献

It is appropriately described as a pair of bright solitons, bound together by a dark soliton. We consider an inhomogeneous optical fiber system described by the generalized cubic complex Ginzburg-Landau (CGL) equation with varying dispersion, nonlinearity, gain (loss), nonlinear gain (absorption) and the effect of spectral limitation. Exact chirped bright and dark soliton-like solutions of the CGL equation were found by using a suitable ansatz. Furthermore, we analyze the features of the solitons and consider the problem of stability of these soliton-like solutions under finite initial perturbations. It is shown by extensive numerical simulations that both bright and dark soliton-like solutions are stable in an inhomogeneous fiber system. Finally, the interaction between two chirped bright and dark soliton-like pulses is investigated numerically. 相似文献

The observation of dark pulse in a dispersion-managed fiber ring laser with net negative cavity group velocity dispersion (GVD) is reported. Both bright and dark pulses can be obtained in our fiber laser. When we appropriately adjust the cavity birefringence to achieve triple-wavelength mode-locked operation in the laser by rotating the polarization controller, the bright pulse could be switched to dark pulse. It is believed that the dark dispersion-managed (DM) pulse generation is caused by the linear and nonlinear intermodulation effects among the three wavelength pulses. 相似文献

Dark solitons are the subject of intense theoretical and experimental studies in nonlinear optics due to their unique characteristics compared with bright solitons. In this paper, the variable coefficient high-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the inhomogeneous optical fiber is investigated. Via the Hirota bilinear method and symbolic computation, the analytic dark two-soliton solutions are obtained. With the suitable choices of functions and coefficients for the obtained dark two-soliton solutions, some new phenomena are presented for the first time. The influences on phases and amplitudes of soliton interactions are detailed analyzed. Moreover, sets of double-triangle structures and methods of changing the propagation direction of dark solitons are introduced. Finally, by choosing suitable functions of the fourth-order dispersion parameter, the arch-structure and M-structure interactions are revealed. Results may be potentially useful in designing all-optical switches and optical fibers. 相似文献

The existence and nonlinear dynamics of two-component incoherently coupled composite solitons in two-photon photorefractive materials under open circuit conditions have been investigated. In the steady-state regime, these incoherently coupled solitons can propagate in bright–dark, bright–bright and dark–dark configurations. These photovoltaic soliton families can be established provided that the carrier beams share the same polarization and wavelength. The influence of the gating beam on the dynamics of stable solitons is discussed. Numerical simulations show that these solitons are stable for small perturbation on amplitude. 相似文献

We study analytically the properties of the optical absorption and the spatial weak-light solitons in a quantum dot molecule system with the interdot tunneling coupling (ITC). It is shown that, for the linear case, there exists tunneling induced transparency (TIT) in the context of a weak ITC, while the TIT can be replaced by Autler-Townes splitting in the presence of a strong ITC. For the nonlinear case, it is probable to realize the spatial optical solitons even under weak light intensity. Interestingly, we find that there appears transformation behavior between the bright and dark solitons by properly turning both the ITC strength and the detuning of the probe field. Meanwhile, the transformation condition of the bright and dark solitons is obtained. Additionally it is also found that the amplitude of the solitons first descends and then rises with the increasing of ITC strength. Our results may have potential applications for nonlinear optical experiments and optical telecommunication engineering in solid systems. 相似文献

用数值方法分析了平行传播异色光伏暗孤子之间及亮-暗孤子之间的相互作用.结果表明,光伏暗孤子共轴传播能在有限的距离内保持准孤子形态,靠近传播时存在着相互吸引的作用 ,而相距较远传播时表现为一孤子暗区使另一孤子的缓变光场部分发生局部会聚作用.光伏暗孤子与亮孤子的相互作用随距离的不同可使亮孤子光强分布变尖锐或变平缓,以及使亮孤子发生能量转移.从两束信号光共同引起折射率波导这一物理机理对光伏孤子这些相互作用给出定性物理解释.

对单模光纤正群速色散区中基于暗孤子交叉相位调制的亮脉冲压缩进行了定量计算和详细分析,结果表明,亮脉冲的压缩程度与昱孤子相对于亮脉冲的初始峰值功率有关,初始相对峰值功率愈高,亮脉冲的压缩比和压后的峰值功率愈高,同时所需的光纤长度愈短,对于给定的初始条件,光纤长度存在一最佳值,在最佳长度处,压缩后的亮脉冲峰值功率最高,宽度最窄。 相似文献

Motionless and moving bright dissipative solitons in an optical fiber with a Bragg grating and non-linear amplification and absorption are found numerically and studied. These solitons form a one-parameter family whose parameter—the soliton velocity—can continuously change in a certain range. The presence of saturation of the nonlinearity is necessary for stability of such solitons. Neglect of saturation of the cubic-in-field polarization of the medium results in the instability of the possible localized structures. 相似文献

This paper reveals optical solitons and other solutions to fiber Bragg gratings with dispersive reflectivity having Kerr law of nonlinear refractive index. Bragg gratings are indeed a technological marvel that supplements chromatic dispersion when its count runs low. We experimentally demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser employing a fiber-based semiconductor saturable absorber (SSA) operating in transmission. Polarization rotation locked vector solitons are observed in the laser. Due to the intrinsic dynamic feature of the laser, period-doubling of these vector solitons has also been observed. Furthermore, extra spectral sidebands are formed on the optical spectrum, caused by the energy exchange between the two orthogonal polarization components of the vector solitons. By careful reduction of the pump power together with fine adjustment to the cavity birefringence, period-one state can further be obtained. Additionally, the phase noise properties of the vector soliton fiber laser have also been characterized experimentally and analytically. 相似文献
