Experiments with trapped particles have demonstrated the existence of quantum jumps and the discrete nature of single-system dynamics in quantum mechanics. The concept of jumps is also a powerful tool for simulating and understanding open quantum systems. In non-Markovian systems jump probabilities can become negative due to memory effects between the system and its environment. We discuss a recently presented method that can handle both positive and negative probabilities and provides powerful insight into the dynamics of open systems with memory. The key element is a reversed quantum jump to a system state that was, in principle, already destroyed by an earlier normal jump. Instead of using artificial extensions of the system or exploiting hidden variables we take advantage of the information stored in the quantum ensemble itself.  相似文献

A general approach to the construction of non-Markovian quantum theory is proposed. Non-Markovian equations for quantum observables and states are suggested by using general fractional calculus. In the proposed approach, the non-locality in time is represented by operator kernels of the Sonin type. A wide class of the exactly solvable models of non-Markovian quantum dynamics is suggested. These models describe open (non-Hamiltonian) quantum systems with general form of nonlocality in time. To describe these systems, the Lindblad equations for quantum observable and states are generalized by taking into account a general form of nonlocality. The non-Markovian quantum dynamics is described by using integro-differential equations with general fractional derivatives and integrals with respect to time. The exact solutions of these equations are derived by using the operational calculus that is proposed by Yu. Luchko for general fractional differential equations. Properties of bi-positivity, complete positivity, dissipativity, and generalized dissipativity in general non-Markovian quantum dynamics are discussed. Examples of a quantum oscillator and two-level quantum system with a general form of nonlocality in time are suggested.  相似文献

It is shown that the exact dynamics of a composite quantum system can be represented through a pair of product states which evolve according to a Markovian random jump process. This representation is used to design a general Monte Carlo wave function method that enables the stochastic treatment of the full non-Markovian behavior of open quantum systems. Numerical simulations are carried out which demonstrate that the method is applicable to open systems strongly coupled to a bosonic reservoir, as well as to the interaction with a spin bath. Full details of the simulation algorithms are given, together with an investigation of the dynamics of fluctuations. Several potential generalizations of the method are outlined.Received: 29 October 2003, Published online: 10 February 2004PACS: 03.65.Yz Decoherence; open systems; quantum statistical methods - 02.70.Ss Quantum Monte Carlo methods - 05.10.Gg Stochastic analysis methods (Fokker-Planck, Langevin, etc.)  相似文献

We present a theory of full counting statistics for electron transport through interacting electron systems with non-Markovian dynamics. We illustrate our approach for transport through a single-level quantum dot and a metallic single-electron transistor to second order in the tunnel coupling, and discuss under which circumstances non-Markovian effects appear in the transport properties.  相似文献

Memory effect of non-Markovian dynamics in open quantum systems is often believed to be beneficial for quantum information processing. In this work, we employ an experimentally controllable two-photon open system, with one photon experiencing a dephasing environment and the other being free from noise, to show that non-Markovian effect may also have a negative impact on quantum tasks such as remote state preparation: For a certain period of controlled time interval, stronger non-Markovian effect yields lower fidelity of remote state preparation, as opposed to the common wisdom that more information leads to better performance. As a comparison, a positive non-Markovian effect on the RSP fidelity with another typical non-Markovian noise is analyzed. Consequently, the observed dual character of non-Markovian effect will be of great importance in the field of open systems engineering.  相似文献

We construct a large class of non-Markovian master equations that describe the dynamics of open quantum systems featuring strong memory effects, which relies on a quantum generalization of the concept of classical semi-Markov processes. General conditions for the complete positivity of the corresponding quantum dynamical maps are formulated. The resulting non-Markovian quantum processes allow the treatment of a variety of physical systems, as is illustrated by means of various examples and applications, including quantum optical systems and models of quantum transport.  相似文献

The non-Markovian dynamics of quantum entanglement is studied by the Shabani-Lidar master equation when one of entangled quantum systems is coupled to a local reservoir with memory effects. The completely positive reduced dynamical map can be constructed in the Kraus representation.Quantum entanglement decays more slowly in the non-Markovian environment. The decoherence time for quantum entanglement can be markedly increased with the change of the memory kernel. It is found out that the entanglement sudden death between quantum systems and entanglement sudden birth between the system and reservoir occur at different instants.  相似文献

The non-Markovian dynamics of a three-level quantum system coupled to a bosonic environment is a difficult problem due to the lack of an exact dynamic equation such as a master equation. We present for the first time an exact quantum trajectory approach to a dissipative three-level model. We have established a convolutionless stochastic Schr?dinger equation called the time-local quantum state diffusion (QSD) equation without any approximations, in particular, without Markov approximation. Our exact time-local QSD equation opens a new avenue for exploring quantum dynamics for a higher dimensional quantum system coupled to a non-Markovian environment.  相似文献

Non-Markovian dynamics in open quantum systems is characterized by a time-non-locality in the equation of motion valid for the reduced density operator. An expansion of this density matrix equation with respect to Laguerre polynomials is used to tackle the time-non-locality. The applicability and the numerical limitations of the method are discussed in detail. In order to illuminate the characteristics of non-Markovian dynamics the reference example is studied of a single quantum degree of freedom moving in a harmonic potential and being embedded in a heat bath. If interpreted as the photoinduced dynamics of nuclear motion in polyatomic molecules we can suggest two clear signatures of non-Markovian dynamics observable in ultrafast optical experiments, firstly a pronounced and somewhat irregular oscillatory behavior of the vibrational level populations, and secondly a separation of the vibrational wavepacket into a double-structure. Simple, controllable models play an important role in learning how to manipulate and control quantum resources. We focus here on quantum non-Markovianity and model the evolution of open quantum systems by quantum renewal processes. This class of quantum dynamics provides us with a phenomenological approach to characterise dynamics with a variety of non-Markovian behaviours, here described in terms of the trace distance between two reduced states. By adopting a trajectory picture for the open quantum system evolution, we analyse how non-Markovianity is influenced by the constituents defining the quantum renewal process, namely the time-continuous part of the dynamics, the type of jumps and the waiting time distributions. We focus not only on the mere value of the non-Markovianity measure, but also on how different features of the trace distance evolution are altered, including times and number of revivals.  相似文献

The dynamical-quantization approach to open quantum systems does consist in quantizing the Brownian motion starting directly from its stochastic dynamics under the framework of both Langevin and Fokker–Planck equations, without alluding to any model Hamiltonian. On the ground of this non-Hamiltonian quantization method, we can derive a non-Markovian Caldeira–Leggett quantum master equation as well as a non-Markovian quantum Smoluchowski equation. The former is solved for the case of a quantum Brownian particle in a gravitational field whilst the latter for a harmonic oscillator. In both physical situations, we come up with the existence of a non-equilibrium thermal quantum force and investigate its classical limit at high temperatures as well as its quantum limit at zero temperature. Further, as a physical application of our quantum Smoluchowski equation, we take up the tunneling phenomenon of a non-inertial quantum Brownian particle over a potential barrier. Lastly, we wish to point out, corroborating conclusions reached in our previous paper [A. O. Bolivar, Ann. Phys. 326 (2011) 1354], that the theoretical predictions in the present article uphold the view that our non-Hamiltonian quantum mechanics is able to capture novel features inherent in quantum Brownian motion, thereby overcoming shortcomings underlying the Caldeira–Leggett Hamiltonian model.  相似文献

We study dynamics of genuine entanglement for quantum states of three and four qubits under non-Markovian dephasing. Using a computable entanglement monotone for multipartite systems, we find that the GHZ state is quite resilient state whereas the W state is the most fragile. We compare dynamics of chosen quantum states with dynamics of random pure states and weighted graph states.  相似文献

In this paper, we proposed the exactly solvable model of non-Markovian dynamics of open quantum systems. This model describes open quantum systems with memory and periodic sequence of kicks by environment. To describe these systems, the Lindblad equation for quantum observable is generalized by taking into account power-law fading memory. Dynamics of open quantum systems with power-law memory are considered. The proposed generalized Lindblad equations describe non-Markovian quantum dynamics. The quantum dynamics with power-law memory are described by using integrations and differentiation of non-integer orders, as well as fractional calculus. An example of a quantum oscillator with linear friction and power-law memory is considered. In this paper, discrete-time quantum maps with memory, which are derived from generalized Lindblad equations without any approximations, are suggested. These maps exactly correspond to the generalized Lindblad equations, which are fractional differential equations with the Caputo derivatives of non-integer orders and periodic sequence of kicks that are represented by the Dirac delta-functions. The solution of these equations for coordinates and momenta are derived. The solutions of the generalized Lindblad equations for coordinate and momentum operators are obtained for open quantum systems with memory and kicks. Using these solutions, linear and nonlinear quantum discrete-time maps are derived.  相似文献

We present a non-Markovian master equation for a qubit interacting with a general reservoir, which is derived according to the Nakajima-Zwanzig and the time convolutionless projection operator technique. The non-Markovian solutions and Markovian solution of dynamical decay of a qubit are compared. The results indicate the validity of non-Markovian approach in different coupling regimes and also show that the Markovian master equation may not precisely describe the dynamics of an open quantum system in some situation. The non-Markovian solutions may be effective for many qubits independently interacting with the heated reservoirs.  相似文献

Coherence is a key resource in quantum information science.Exactly understanding and controlling the variation of coherence are vital for implementation in realistic quantum systems.Using P-representation of density matrix,we obtain the analytical solution of the master equation for the classical states in the non-Markovian process and investigate the coherent dynamics of Gaussian states. It is found that quantum coherence can be preserved in such a process if the coupling strength between system and environment exceeds a threshold value. We also discuss the characteristic function of the Gaussian states in the non-Markovian process, which provides an inevitable bridge for the control and operation of quantum coherence.  相似文献

Time evolution dynamics of three non-coupled two-level atoms independently interacting with their reservoirs is solved exactly by considering a damping Lorentzian spectral density. For three atoms initially prepared in Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-type state, quantum correlation dynamics in a Markovian reservoir is compared with that in a nonMarkovian reservoir.By increasing detuning quantity in the non-Markovian reservoir,three-atom correlation dynamics measured by negative eigenvalue presents a trapping phenomenon which provides long-time quantum entanglement. Then we compare the correlation dynamics of three atoms with that of two atoms, measured by quantum entanglement and quantum discord for an initial robuster-entangled type state. The result further confirms that quantum discord is indeed different from quantum entanglement in identifying quantum correlation of many bodies.  相似文献

Non-Markovian dynamics of correlations of fermionic systems is investigated beyond the single-mode approximations in a non-inertial frame. Two well known correlation measures, quantum discord and geometric quantum discord, are analyzed for the fermionic states influenced by the non-Markovian noise. Persistence of discord is seen for longer times depending upon the level of mixedness of the fermionic system. The dynamics of the fermionic systems heavily depends upon the degree of white noise. It is shown that fermionic systems remain dependent upon the choice of Unruh modes (qRqR) beyond the single-mode approximations under non-Markovian noise. Quantum discord is found to be more robust as compared to the geometric quantum discord. Furthermore, the non-Markovian effects are more stronger than the acceleration of Bob, the accelerated partner.  相似文献
