The phase transition of gallium phosphide (GaP) from zinc-blende (ZB) to a rocksalt (RS) structure is investigated by the plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory (DFT). Lattice constant a0, elastic constants cij, bulk modulus B0 and the pressure derivative of bulk modulus B0' are calculated. The results are in good agreement with numerous experimental and theoretical data. From the usual condition of equal enthalpies, the phase transition from the ZB to the RS structure occurs at 21.9 GPa, which is close to the experimental value of 22.0 GPa. The elastic properties of GaP with the ZB structure in a pressure range from 0 GPa to 21.9 GPa and those of the RS structure in a pressure range of pressures from 21.9 GPa to 40 GPa are obtained. According to the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the phononic effects are considered, the normalized volume V/V0, the Debye temperature θ, the heat capacity Cv and the thermal expansion coefficient α are also discussed in a pressure range from 0 GPa to 40 GPa and a temperature range from 0 K to 1500 K.  相似文献

The elastic and thermodynamic characteristics of OsC crystal have been predicted through a method of density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). Compared with WC-type OsC, NaCl-type OsC is not only energy unfavorable but also mechanics unstable. The five independent elastic constants (Cij), bulk modulus (B0), the dependence of bulk modulus on temperature and pressure as well as the thermal expansion coefficient (αV) at various temperatures for WC-type OsC are discussed. According to our calculations, WC-type OsC should be an ultra-incompressible material with high bulk modulus about 381 GPa. In addition, the bulk modulus will increase with increasing pressure while decrease with increasing temperature. The researches on the thermal expansion coefficient indicate that there will be a knee point during the process of thermal expansion coefficient variation versus increasing temperature. Our results may provide useful information for theoretical and experimental investigation of OsC.  相似文献

<正>The elastic and thermodynamic properties of NbN at high pressures and high temperatures are investigated by the plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory(DFT).The generalized gradient approximation(GGA) with the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof(PBE) method is used to describe the exchange-correlation energy in the present work. The calculated equilibrium lattice constant a0,bulk modulus B0,and the pressure derivative of bulk modulus B0’ of NbN with rocksalt structure are in good agreement with numerous experimental and theoretical data. The elastic properties over a range of pressures from 0 to 80.4 GPa are obtained.Isotropic wave velocities and anisotropic elasticity of NbN are studied in detail. It is indicated that NbN is highly anisotropic in both longitudinal and shear-wave velocities. According to the quasi-harmonic Debye model,in which the phononic effect is considered, the relations of(V-V0)/V0 to the temperature and the pressure, and the relations of the heat capacity CV and the thermal expansion coefficientαto temperature are discussed in a pressure range from 0 to 80.4 GPa and a temperature range from 0 to 2500 K.At low temperature,CV is proportional to T3 and tends to the Dulong-Petit limit at higher temperature. We predict that the thermal expansion coefficientαof NbN is about 4.20×10-6/K at 300 K and 0 GPa.  相似文献

The structural, elastic and thermodynamic characteristics of CeGa2 compound in the AlB2 (space group: P6/mmm) and the omega trigonal (space group: P-3m1) type structures are investigated using the methods of density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The thermodynamic properties of the considered structures are obtained through the quasi-harmonic Debye model. The results on the basic physical parameters, such as the lattice constant, the bulk modulus, the pressure derivative of bulk modulus, the phase-transition pressure (P t ) from P6/mmm to P-3m1 structure, the second-order elastic constants, Zener anisotropy factor, Poisson’s ratio, Young’s modulus, and the isotropic shear modulus are presented. In order to gain further information, the pressure and temperature-dependent behavior of the volume, the bulk modulus, the thermal expansion coefficient, the heat capacity, the entropy, Debye temperature and Grüneisen parameter are also evaluated over a pressure range of 0–6 GPa and a wide temperature range of 0–1800 K. The obtained results are in agreement with the available experimental and the other theoretical values.  相似文献

This paper investigates the equilibrium lattice parameters, heat capacity, thermal expansion coefficient, bulk modulus and its pressure derivative of LaNi 5 crystal by using the first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential method in the GGA-PBE generalized gradient approximation as well as the quasi-harmonic Debye model. The dependences of bulk modulus on temperature and on pressure are investigated. For the first time it analyses the relationships between bulk modulus B and temperature T up to 1000 K, the relationship between bulk modulus B and pressure at different temperatures are worked out. The pressure dependences of heat capacity C v and thermal expansion α at various temperatures are also analysed. Finally, the Debye temperatures of LaNi 5 at different pressures are successfully obtained. The calculated results are in excellent agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

The elastic and thermodynamic properties of CsCl-type structure CaB6 under high pressure are investigated by first-principles calculations based on plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory method within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The calculated lattice parameters of CaB6 under zero pressure and zero temperature are in good agreement with the existing experimental data and other theoretical data. The pressure dependences of the elastic constants, bulk modulus B (GPa), and its pressure derivative B′, shear modulus G, Young's modulus E, elastic Debye temperature ΘB, Zener's anisotropy parameter A, Poisson ratios σ, and Kleinmann parameter ζ are also presented. An analysis for the calculated elastic constants has been made to reveal the mechanical stability of CaB6 up to 100 GPa. The thermodynamic properties of the CsCl-type structure CaB6 are predicted using the quasi-harmonic Debye model. The pressure-volume-temperature (P-V-T) relationship, the variations of the heat capacity CV, Debye temperature ΘD, and the thermal expansion α with pressure P and temperature T, as well as the Grüneisen parameters γ are obtained systematically in the ranges of 0-100 GPa and 0-2000 K.  相似文献

The isobaric and isothermal volume derivatives of In B, In μ and In μ' are investigated, where B, μ and μ' are the isothermal bulk modulus and the two shear moduli, respectively, of a cubic crystal. In the case of the bulk modulus, the temperature independence of αB (where α is the volume thermal expansion) for a large number of materials, ensures that the derivatives are constant and approximately equal, while for the shear moduli, evidence is advanced that the isothermal derivatives are constant along an isotherm, but not along an isobar except at high temperatures near the melting point. The relationships satisfied by the bulk modulus enable the explicit temperature and pressure dependence of the molar volume, V, thermal expansion, and bulk modulus to be determined. The most adequate representation of the volume dependence of the Grüneisen parameter, γ, appears to be that γ/V is independent of volume between the Debye and melting temperatures.  相似文献

The equilibrium lattice parameter, heat capacity, thermal expansion coefficient and bulk modulus of Ni 2 MnGa Heusler alloy are successfully obtained using the first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential (PW-PP) method as well as the quasi-harmonic Debye model. We analyse the relationship between bulk modulus B and temperature T up to 800 K and obtain the relationship between bulk modulus B and pressure at different temperatures. It is found that the bulk modulus B increases monotonically with increasing pressure and decreases with increasing temperature. The pressure dependence of heat capacity C v and thermal expansion α at various temperatures are also analysed. Finally, the Debye temperature of Ni 2 MnGa is determined from the non-equilibrium Gibbs function. Our calculated results are in excellent agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

We investigate the structural and thermodynamic properties of OsN2 by a plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory method. The obtained lattice constant, bulk modulus and cell volume per unit formula are consistent with the available theoretical data. Moreover, the pressure-induced phase transition of OsN2 from pyrite structure to fluorite structure has been obtained. It is found that the transition pressure of OsN2 at zero temperature is 67.2 GPa. The bulk modulus B as well as other thermodynamic quantities of fluorite OsN2 (including the Gru¨neisen constant γ and thermal expansion α) on temperatures and pressures have also been obtained.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, electronic and thermodynamic properties of the rhombohedral topological insulator Bi2Se3 are investigated by the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) with the Wu–Cohen (WC) exchange-correlation functional. The calculated lattice constants agree well with the available experimental and other theoretical data. Our GGA calculations indicate that Bi2Se3 is a 3D topological insulator with a band gap of 0.287 eV, which are well consistent with the experimental value of 0.3 eV. The pressure dependence of the elastic constants Cij, bulk modulus B, shear modulus G, Young’s modulus E, and Poisson’s ratio σ of Bi2Se3 are also obtained successfully. The bulk modulus obtained from elastic constants is 53.5 GPa, which agrees well with the experimental value of 53 GPa. We also investigate the shear sound velocity VS, longitudinal sound velocity VL, and Debye temperature ΘE from our elastic constants, as well as the thermodynamic properties from quasi-harmonic Debye model. We obtain that the heat capacity Cv and the thermal expansion coefficient α at 0 GPa and 300 K are 120.78 J mol?1 K?1 and 4.70 × 10?5 K?1, respectively.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The structural, electronic, elastic and thermodynamic properties of LuX (X = N, Bi and Sb) based on rare earth into phases, Rocksalt (B1) and CsCl (B2) have been investigated using full-potential linearized muffin-tin orbital method (FP-LMTO) within density functional theory. Local density approximation (LDA) for exchange-correlation potential and local spin density approximation (LSDA) are employed. The structural parameters as lattice parameters a0, bulk modulus B, its pressure derivate B’ and cut-off energy (Ec) within LDA and LSDA are presented. The elastic constants were derived from the stress–strain relation at 0 K. The thermodynamic properties for LuX using the quasi-harmonic Debye model are studied. The temperature and pressure variation of volume, bulk modulus, thermal expansion coefficient, heat capacities, Debye temperature and Gibbs free energy at different pressures (0–50 GPa) and temperatures (0–1600 K) are predicted. The calculated results are in accordance with other data.  相似文献

This paper predicts the elastic and thermodynamic characteristics of TiB2 crystal through the method of density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation(GGA).The five independent elastic constants(Cij),the bulk modulus(B0),the dependence of bulk modulus(B0) on temperature T and pressure P and the coefficient of thermal expansion(αL) at various temperatures have been evaluated and discussed.According to calculation, the bulk modulus will increase with increasing pressure while decrease with the increasing temperature. The coefficient of thermal expansion is consistent with the famous Gruneisen’s law when the temperature is not too high. The obtained results agree well with the experimental and other theoretical results.  相似文献

The structural, phase transition, elastic, lattice dynamic and thermodynamic properties of rare-earth compounds PrP and PrAs with NaCl (B1), CsCl (B2), ZB (B3), WC (Bh) and CuAu (L10) structures are investigated using the first principles calculations within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). For the total-energy calculation, we have used the projected augmented plane-wave (PAW) implementation of the Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package (VASP). Specifically, some basic physical parameters, e.g. lattice constants, bulk modulus, elastic constants, shear modulus, Young's modulus and Poison's ratio, are predicted. The obtained equilibrium structure parameters are in excellent agreement with the experimental and theoretical data. The temperature and pressure variations of the volume, bulk modulus, thermal expansion coefficient, heat capacity and Debye temperature are calculated in wide pressure and temperature ranges. The phonon dispersion curves and corresponding one-phonon density of states (DOS) for both compounds are also computed in the NaCl (B1) structure.  相似文献

Using plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory and Debye model, we have studied the axial compressibility, thermal expansion and elastic anisotropy of Hf2SC at different temperature and pressure. It is found that the bulk moduli B a and B c (along the a and c axes, respectively) almost linearly increase with pressure and the former is always smaller than the latter. The ratio of B c /B a has a trend of gradual increase as the pressure increases. We observe that the Grüneisen parameter γ and thermal expansion coefficient α decrease when increasing pressure, on the contrary, the anisotropy, Debye temperature, longitudinal wave velocity and transverse wave velocity increase with pressure.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, and electronic properties of SrZrN2 under pressure up to 100?GPa have been carried out with first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. The calculated lattice parameters at 0?GPa and 0?K by using the GGA-PW91-ultrasoft method are in good agreement with the available experimental data and other previous theoretical calculations. The pressure dependence of the elastic constants and the elastic-dependent properties of SrZrN2, such as bulk modulus B, shear modulus G, Young's modulus E, Debye temperature Θ, shear and longitudinal wave velocity VS and VL, are also successfully obtained. It is found that all elastic constants increase monotonically with pressure. When the pressure increases up to 140?GPa, the obtained elastic constants do not satisfy the mechanical stability criteria and a phase transition might has occurred. Moreover, the anisotropy of the directional-dependent Young's modulus and the linear compressibility under different pressures are analysed for the first time. Finally, the pressure dependence of the total and partial densities of states and the bonding property of SrZrN2 are also investigated.  相似文献

The elastic constants and thermodynamic properties of c-BN are calculated using the first-principles plane wave method with the relativistic analytic pseudopotential of the Hartwigen, Goedecker and Hutter (HGH) type in the frame of local density approximation and using the quasi-harmonic Debye model, separately. Moreover, the dependences of the normalized volume V/V0 on pressure P, as well as the bulk modulus B, the thermal expansion α, and the heat capacity CV on pressure P and temperature T are also successfully obtained.  相似文献

Athermal elasticity for some ceramic materials (α-Al2O3, SiC (α and β phases), TiO2 (rutile and anatase), hexagonal AlN and TiB2, cubic BN and CaF2, and monoclinic ZrO2) have been investigated via density functional theory. Energy-volume equation-of-state computations to obtain the zero pressure equilibrium volume and bulk modulus as well as computations of the full elastic constant tensor of these ceramics at the experimental zero pressure volume have been performed. The present results for the single crystal elasticity are in good agreement with experiments both for the aggregate properties (bulk and shear modulus) and the elastic anisotropy. In contrast, a considerable discrepancy for the zero pressure bulk modulus of some ceramics evaluated from the energy-volume fit to the computational zero pressure volume has been observed.  相似文献

We investigate the structural, thermodynamic and electronic properties of Os by plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory method. The obtained lattice constants, bulk modulus and cell volumes per formula unit are well consistent with the available experimental data. Especially, from our calculated bulk modulus, we conclude that Os is more compressible than diamond. Moreover, the temperature induced phase transition of Os from HCP structure to FCC structure has been obtained. It is found that the transition temperature of Os at zero pressure is 2702 K. However no transition pressure is found in our calculations. The effect of bulk modulus B as well as other thermodynamic properties of Os (including the thermal expansion α and the Grüneisen constant γ) on temperatures have also been studied. Our calculated thermal expansion α=1.510×10−5 K−1 and the Grüneisen constant γ=2.227 for HCP structure at room temperature agree very well with the experimental data. The density of states for HCP structure at 0 K and FCC structure at transition temperature 2702 K are also investigated in our work.  相似文献
