利用一维变周期谐振腔阵列和非线性缓变边界,可以实现光波从脊波导到光子晶体平面波导 (PCW)的高效耦合.基于平面波展开法(PWE)和时域有限差分法(FDTD),深入分析和讨 论了普通脊波导、2D-PCW结构和本征模以及工作模式、缓变边界形状等对耦合效率的影响, 从而得出光波从脊波导到2D-PCW、再返回脊波导的统一图景.指出考虑模式转换和采用缓变 边界条件可以极大提高PCW与脊波导间的耦合效率.对PC-PW边界采用线性和非线性缓变结构 进行了仿真,讨论了边界缓变程度对耦合效率的影响.结果表明,采用模式耦合和PC-PW余弦 缓变边界时的耦合效率在较宽的带宽内超过了95%.

通过K-Na离子交换技术制备了多模玻璃平面波导.采用棱镜耦合技术测量了波导的有效折射率,用IWKB方法拟合得到K-Na离子交换波导的折射率分布符合高斯分布,由色散曲线得到单模波导的制备条件(即扩散深度范围),从而得出单模波导的离子交换时间范围,制备出单模波导,并通过求解WKB色散方程得出单模波导的表面折射率.用普通数码相机,通过对离子交换平面玻璃光波导传输线进行数字成像,根据传输线上的光强分布拟合出光强传输衰减曲线,计算出单模波导的传输损耗大约为0.4 dB/cm. 相似文献

We report the formation of a planar waveguide in an Nd:YGG laser crystal by low-energy He-ion implantation at liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K). The optical properties are measured by the prism coupling and end-face coupling methods, the absorption properties the waveguide and Nd:YGG substrate are obtained. The fluorescence spectrums are investigated by confocal methods. The experimental results revealed that the planar waveguide preserved the absorption and fluorescence properties of the Nd:YGG laser crystal. Thus, the planar waveguide formed by the ion implantation method is a promising candidate in waveguide lasers. 相似文献

An approach of calculating the coupling losses in a coaxial (or annular) waveguide laser resonator is developed by which the computational time is considerably reduced. Computations of the coupling losses for some TE modes of an annular waveguide, as a function of mirror curvature and position, are presented in the limit of large mirror aperture. It is shown that there exist three special configurations to provide low coupling losses. The resonator properties are discussed. caused by waveguide width and refractive index variation for both resonant and adiabatic coupling at a wavelength of 1,550 nm.

An integrated diffractive optical mode converter, which can be integrated into planar lightwave circuits (PLCs), consisting of a diffractive optical element (DOE) and a slab waveguide is presented for fiber-to-waveguide coupling. The DOE is designed using iterative phase retrieval algorithm. In the iterative algorithm, we introduce a new modification of far-field amplitude constraint to provide very high mode conversion quality. Compared with previously published mode converters, the scheme is more universal because it is applicable for any waveguide structure. In simulation, coupling losses lower than 0.12 dB have been reached for all the discussed waveguides. The converter is shown to be polarization-insensitive and applicable in multi-wavelength PLCs. And the tolerance on axis misalignment has been investigated. 相似文献

We present the design and fabrication of a planar structure for coupling light from a multimode feed waveguide into a single-line-defect photonic-crystal waveguide. Finite-difference time-domain calculations predict a coupling efficiency of greater than 90%, and preliminary experimental results indicate successful coupling through a single-line-defect photonic-crystal waveguide. Device design, fabrication, and characterization are presented. 相似文献
