The solubility of hydrogen in amorphous Mg0.6SiO2.6 at a temperature of 250°C and pressures up to 75 kbar is studied using a quenching technique. The molar ratio H2/formula unit is found to nonlinearly increase with pressure from x = 0.12 at P = 10 kbar to x = 0.303 at P = 75 kbar. An investigation of the quenched samples by Raman spectroscopy demonstrated that hydrogen dissolves in amorphous Mg0.6SiO2.6 in the form of H2 molecules. X-ray diffraction and Raman studies showed that the hydrogenation of the samples is likely to be accompanied by a phase transition in the amorphous lattice of Mg0.6SiO2.6 at P ≈ 52.5 kbar to a denser amorphous modification. 相似文献

Abstract We have investigated Cu, Zn Superoxide Dismutase (Cu, Zn SOD) metal sites at high pressure using X-ray absorption. XAS (X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy) gives information on local structure and it is particularly suited to metal site investigation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that protein conformational states have been investigated using the high pressure XAS technique. Cu, Zn SOD catalyses the dismutation of toxic oxygen radicals produced in cells; this reaction occurs at the copper metal site. Structural changes around the copper, induced by pressure, can be directly related to protein substates. Their characterisation is thus important in the understanding of protein activity. The high-pressure device was a Paris-Edinburgh large volume cell. Experiments were performed on lyophilised Cu, Zn SOD between 0 and 48 kbar at the copper and zinc K-edges. The two metal local atomic environments have a different behaviour as pressure increases: copper exhibits a more flexible environment; on the contrary, zinc shows small structural modifications. We have identified a state, formed between 3 and 8 kbar, which is stable up to 48 kbar. 相似文献

Hexagonal Se shows no indication of a transformation to a metallic, superconducting phase up to 160 kbar. Amorphous Se transforms at about 130 kbar to an unstable metallic, superconducting state which anneals slowly at room temperature toward a non-metallic, non-superconducting phase. Monoclinic Se behaves much like amorphous Se. X-ray diffraction indicates that all samples are in the hexagonal phase after release of pressure. 相似文献

Measurements of the relative resistance versus temperature at different hydrostatic pressures up to 30 kbar for amorphous La3Si have been carried out. The results show that there is a metastable phase only at low pressures and that pressure decreases the crystallization temperature of the stable state (or final phase) from both the amorphous and meta-stable phases. If the pressure is sufficiently high, the transformation from the amorphous to a stable state might occur at room temperature. 相似文献

The Néel temperature of MnTe has been measured at high pressures up to 70 kbar and found to increase with pressure. The rate of increase changes discontinuously near 40 kbar. The lattice parameters were measured by X-ray diffraction techniques, and also change anomalously near 40 kbar. From these results, it appears that some kind of magnetic phase transition occurs at this point. A magnetic phase diagram is proposed. 相似文献

We report results of molecular dynamics simulations of amorphous ice in the pressure range 0-22.5 kbar. The high-density amorphous (HDA) ice prepared by compression of Ih ice at T=80 K is annealed to T=170 K at intermediate pressures in order to generate relaxed states. We confirm the existence of recently observed phenomena, the very high-density amorphous ice, and a continuum of HDA forms. We suggest that both phenomena have their origin in the evolution of the network topology of the annealed HDA phase with decreasing volume, resulting at low temperatures in the metastability of a range of densities. 相似文献
